Hey there,
I have just flashed the wrong ROM to my Galaxy S2 T-Mobile. I'v searched over the internet about this situation and i found than a method/device called JTAG-RIFF can recover my dead phone. I'v found also these links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889128&highlight=usb+jig
that shows off how to unbrick galaxy phones with 300K resistors and a USB connector.
Will this method, i mean the method with 3 resistors 300K work with my SGH-T989 ?
Or i am forced to buy the JTAG device ? I don`t even know how to use it by the way. This method with 3 resistors looks more easy to do.
Please help me, had everyone tried 3 resistors on Galaxy S2 T-Mobile ?

The 'thing' with 3 resisters is called a USB JIG. You can buy one on eBay or from mobiletechvideos.com. The jig can sometimes be used to force a device into download mode. Usually, if you flashed the wrong ROM though, you'll need JTag. Mobile tech videos does that too. It's not something you'd do yourself.

Not necessarily. It might work, it might not. No, it shouldn't harm your phone any worse.

Have you tried another phone? Or device with micro usb? And does device manager recognize it at all? Even as an unknown device?
Have you tried connecting other devices? Is it micro USB A or B?

Just for starters why don't you turn off your phone and plug it in and then turn it back on. See if your computer recognizes a device while booting up. That's a start.

Hello every one,
As you can assume I have bricked my phone, now before some of you rage I did look through A LOT of other threads but I have no idea what to make of this:
I flashed a i9100 ROM ( -_- yes I know... but I only noticed AFTER the brick lol ) and now obviously the phone is ****ed, what I would like to know is: will a jig help or not? because it doesn't turn on or goes into recovery mode or download mode.
I was so pissed, but I kept trying and trying until I connected it to the computer and heard the usb connection sound, so I'm asking if this is good, which I believe it is.
I ordered the jig already but I want some input on this... that usb sound has to be good ( or better than nothing lol ), I really appreciate any help.
Sorry the usb sound going on/off when you connect your phone and nothing happening means it is bricked with no chance of recovery. Not sure the jig will work. I have not heard of anyone who got their Tmobile sgs2 working with one.
I don't understand how people not realize they are not flashing a ROM for their specific phone model. It is not like all the roms are in the same forum.
Good luck trying to fix your brick.

I'm going to wait for the jig and see what happens, unless some other member with personal experience comes in here.
I already said I didn't realize that I was in the wrong forum until after I flashed it, I would not have done it knowingly...
It sounds like you need to have your phone JTAGed. That is the only way to resurrect a dead phone, other than returning it to Samsung or your dealer. There is a place called MobileTech Videos that will do that for around $50. Do an internet search to find them.
I rather send it to t-mobile/Samsung first before resorting to that. I will still wait for the jig because "sounds like" isn't convincing me, I obviously know of MobileTech, but I rather send it to t-mobile first...

Sent it tonight, getting the new one tomorrow.
Samsung really screwed up by throwing the Galaxy S II name onto hardware that has no business carrying the name - crap like this is the result.
Yeah, I9100 firmwares need some massaging to run properly on the I777, but at least I9100 hardwares don't guarantee a hardbrick due to a different CPU architecture and completely different partition table.

I rooted the gs2 for a friend and he accidentally flashed a rom for the international gs2(i900 or something)
The phone doesnt show any signs of life now. At all. Doesnt go into download mode or recovery or anything.
I read the only two ways to fix would be either replacing the mother board or using JTAG but both look immensely complicated and difficult
Any way to fix this bad boy?
JTAG flash only. I feel your pain, buddy!
Replacing the motherboard costs a lot more more money. JTAG flash costs around $100 everything included, but you need to mail your phone to someone who does JTAG flashing. You can't do either one by yourself.
---------- Post added at 01:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 AM ----------
A Samsung phone doesn't appear to have any ROM (ROM as in Read-Only Memory). It is all EEPROM: a big flash chip. Everything is in there, including stuff you might be surprised to find: like your phone's IMEI. That's right! If you buy a stolen phone, you can change its IMEI and use it: It's illegal, but technically possible! Samsung has been criticized for this, had your phone had a true ROM to contain your bootloader (which you really never need to change), your phone would be totally unbrickable!
So one of the interesting things that EEPROM contains is the your phone's bootloader, the very thing that allows that Download mode that makes rooting possible. It's in a partition of its own in there.
Problem is, in Download mode all you get is a flash chip inside your phone, which you see as a giant block device which you just flash with a prepared image over parts of the chip. So, if you flash an image not meant for your phone, you steam-roller over partitions, rendering them digital confetti: flashing is like low-level formatting your harddrive. If you blow away the bootloader, you loose Download mode. You are done, your phone can no longer bootstrap unaided.
What JTAG flashing means is, your phone gets taken apart, they attach a flash programmer to a service port, and then drive it to copy stuff on it. They load it up with an image from a working phone.
Have you tried forcing your phone in to 'Download Mode' using a USB Jig? Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my past experience I have accidentally run into the same issue (although with the first gen Samsung Galaxy) of flashing a ROM from a different Galaxy variant and ended up with a phone that did not turn on and had no way of accessing recovery/download mode through button combos, thinking it was completely dead.
However, I luckily new someone who had created a USB Jig and was able to use it on the bricked phone to get in to download mode. After being able to access download mode I just had to make sure I connected the phone through Odin and flashed a stock ROM to it.
Before sending your phone out to have a motherboard replaced or have it Jtagged, it's worth a try. Otherwise, kangelov is correct when he said that flashing an image from a different phone will completely remove all the partitions needed to enter the bootloader or download mode.
Best of luck to you!

The Jig should automatically turn your phone on and load up the phone to the 'download mode' screen. Which one did you buy? Hopefully it is using the proper resistors as the one mentioned a few posts above.
Edit: I know this is pretty obvious, but make sure your battery is charged (at least more than 50%)

First off, did you download the 12/16 drivers from Samsung's site? Try that first.
If they messed up by downloading the i9100 bootloader you're looking at a JTAG.
Try this next though:

If doesn't fix it get ahold of Josh @ MobileTechVideos.com to get a JTAG for those.

Its dead if usb jig only triggered blod use it as parts, minus the logic board, or a fancy paper weight/door stop
I like to break stuff!
I'm a veteran ROM flasher however tonight I made my very first big oopsie and loaded a i9300 ROM onto my i747 device. Once the ROM completed loading on the phone I hit the reboot button then out the lights went. She's definitely dead. When I plug into the PC it's prompting to search for drivers to QHSUSB_DLOAD and Odin doesn't see the device either. No charging LED, just a black screen, can't get into recovery or download modes. I saw a post from someone else previously but it didn't go the direction I think I need. I've heard of a jig, but never needed to use one until now.
Unfortunately you have hard bricked your device. I9300 ROMs always cause a hard brick on an i747. USB jigs do not currently work on GS3s. You will need to use a JTAG service similar to http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com
Sorry about your luck. =(
Keep in mind you only need a JTAG if you are 100% bricked. If your phone shows ANY signs of life post back.
Try pulling the battery, wait 30s and power into download mode. If you get nothing (no vibrations, no lights, no power) see link above.

Ahhh fantastic *facepalm* I was just about to try making my own jig. When I connect to the PC without the battery I get a red LED. That's it.
**Edit: Wow, ummm...the JTAG thing is a tad pricey. Maybe I should try getting AT&T to do a warranty exchange. This sucks...the price I pay for not paying attention...
Yeah, definitely sounds like a hard brick. You can try to make the jig, but from all that I've read, not one person reported a working GS3 jig for a hard brick solution. Doesn't hurt to try... and post back if it works =p

It's actually not a hard mistake to make. One thing I would like to suggest to the mods is resolving the redirects at the top of the page. If you are in the i-747 forum and click on the Accessories forum you are directed to a page within the I9300 forum. That makes sense because both use the same accessories. Problem is, when you click on the link at the top of the page to go back a level, you are actually going back into the I9300 forum where you could potentially pick up a ROM that will hard brick your device.
Good luck is resolving your issue. JTAG is pricey, but it works. Some people have had success going into the store and pleading ignorance. Maybe try that first?
I saw a post in another thread out there about someone successfully using their Captivate jig on their S3...I went to the AT&T Warranty center today and was told that since the ph# originally on this device was ported to another carrier, they won't honor the warranty.
