So I have two epic touch that my friends screw up and I bought them cheap thinking I could fix them with usb jig, I can get them into download mode, but nothing will recognize the phones.
I have tried reinstalling the Samsung usb drives, tried numerous roms, nothing is working.

First off, did you download the 12/16 drivers from Samsung's site? Try that first.
If they messed up by downloading the i9100 bootloader you're looking at a JTAG.
Try this next though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865102
If doesn't fix it get ahold of Josh @ MobileTechVideos.com to get a JTAG for those.

Its dead if usb jig only triggered blod use it as parts, minus the logic board, or a fancy paper weight/door stop
I like to break stuff!

I need some serious help. I just got this phone and was getting ready to root it and here is what happened. I opened up odin, unchecked f. reset time, put victory_8G_100528.pit in pit according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SPH-D700-ODIN, then added stockdeoEC05.tar.md5 in PDA. Hit start and the screen said something about partition, the phone shut off and nothing since. I can't even get a charge. The phone has no life at all.
Please help
Try leaving your battery out for 30 min and see if you can get into download mode with usb plugged only. Also, check this thread. Its a guide for bringing a semi bricked epic back to life.

Phone is in downloading mode and I'm downloading the tar from the link you gave me. Any idea what happened so I don't do it again? This was my first time using Odin so I'm not familiar with it. Did I set it up right? I have to learn from my mistakes and I promised my mom m Moment, which I had to reactivate just now. Geez Laweez...
Glad to hear it. I would buy a better usb cable for the future if you are still using the stock one.

The factory usb cable is great for charging but nothing else. You need a good cable for data transfer. I always use my old Blackberry usb cables they are awesome, BB depend on a lot of data sync with the computer their cables are great.

Here we go...
Okay now I can't get the pc to recognize the device. I tried the drivers from the pack ont those links you gave me prior, and even tried some others. Swapped 3 different usb cords too BTW the only thing it will do is go to download mode by taking battery & card out, plugging in usb while holding 1 & power.

Did you reboot your computer after installing the drivers?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yes I did. Still have the same issue. Last time it worked was when I used Odin and the phone never rebooted. That's what started this thread.
I'm trying to see what happens when I try this on my desktop... Will update soon...
Drivers not working
Even when I tried my desktop (XP, laptop Win 7) I got the same results... Device not recognized...
Even when I click on there was a problem with the device message and go to update driver, it tells me there is no driver installed or needed for this device. I'm hopeful this can be fixed but I can't get the device to be seen and it's stuck in downloading mode. I have searched all the forums and haven't seen this issue yet. Does anyone know how to fix this when it only turns on without the battery in while plugging in the USB and holding 1 & power? I had issues with the device being seen before this happened but man I'm lost as what to try. I even tried the one on the samsung site... of course uninstalling the previous ones and resetting the computer before my attempts.
Are you using the usb ports in the back of the computer that are directly connected to the motherboard?

I have researched with no help what so ever. A buddy of mine got a Epic Touch 4G and accidentally flashed gti9100 rom on there.
I told him I will try to help him out.
The battery that is in the phone is gone. It flashes blue when it's plugged to a power source and you cannot start the phone to "download Mode" with the battery.
As soon as you insert that battery and plug in power source, the phone attempts to turn on and at the bottom you get " 3 icons "Phone, triangle, computer" and underneath the icons it says "Firmware Encountered" and the rest I cannot read.
I have a Epic Touch 4g myself and no stranger to flashing and roms.(currently running codname). I can use m y battery in the other phone and it will allow me to turn it on and get to download mode. Problem is, I cannot get USB connection.
Tried different cable, computer, front ports, back ports, downloaded the gti9100 drivers instead on a different computer and still no connection. Really I do not think there is a fix, but giving one my try in the forums.
thanks

One other possible thing that worked on old epics. Try taking the battery and external sd out for a day to let the internal ram clear. Then try going into dl mode with the phone plugged in but the battery removed.

This is not always true. When I first got my E4GT I flashed an international ROM too and it actually let me boot into it but it was really messed up everything was stuck in landscape mode and none of the capacitive keys would work. I could not connect to the PC while booted into the ROM but in download mode I was actually able to. I would give the idea of taking the battery and SD card out for a day a try. What can ya lose?

I read some where usb jigs do NOT work with the Galaxy S3 like it did with the Epic Touch.Samsung change it somehow. I don't remember where I read it though. I have a jig and when I plug it in while the phone is off its supposed to automatically take you into download mode and it doesn't.

Let me guess. International rom, and pc sees it as QHSUSB_DLOAD? sound right? Jig Is totally worthless. It's a paperweight. Jtag is ur only hope.

Can you even power on your phone? How long have you had your phone? If you are within the 14 day period and you can't power on the phone, I'd recommend that you take it back to the sprint store and get them to replace it. If you can't power it on, then they most likely won't be able to either. If you're not within the 14 days then they'll be able to ship you a new phone under the 1 year warranty. I made the mistake of accidentally flashing a kernel for my ET4G on my S3. I couldn't power my phone on. Took it in to them, they couldn't power it on either and was able to get a replacement on the spot, no questions asked. I told them that I was I was in the middle of an update when the phone restarted and then I couldn't power it back on.
Only other thing you can to is ship it out and have someone JTAG the device for you. MobileTechVideos.com has been mentioned in other threads as a JTAG service.
Hope this helps.
Out of my own carelessness I accidentally flashed a Galaxy Note Kernel on my SG3 and it is now bricked. I can not boot into download or recovery mode the only sign of life that I get is if I remove the Battary and plug to PC the charging light turns on for about 20 sec then cuts back off. I tried to go into Download mode during that time period and no luck. I can also hear my PC sounding off alerts trying to recognize the phone as I plug it and unplug it but It will not go into download mode no matter what I do.
I was running CM10.1
Kernel I flashed by accident is from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397&nocache=1
ANY direction would be highly appreciated, thank you.

Thanks, I'm trying to find a local fix but all I have come up with is 1 guy thats registered on the JTAG site out of Miami. I sent him an email, I hope their list is up to date if not I'll be sending my phone to mobiletechvids and pulling the HTC Sensation out of retirement for a few days. Best way to look at this: It could always suck more ...
Like life, its all perspective....it could always be worse....good luck.
I know there's been several threads on this in the past and I've tried most if not all of the solutions in them (except for the JIG) to no avail.
My EPIC 4G was on stock GB and I tried to ODIN GB08 as per this thread. The process failed (the message didn't tell me much) and left my phone as it is now. No lights ever and no way to go into download mode or recovery mode.
I have:
- tried to go into download mode by pressing 1+Power without the battery or SD card and then inserting the battery
- tried to go into download mode by pressing 1+Power without the battery or SD card and then plugging the phone via USB (using different cables)
- left the phone charging overnight
- left the phone without the battery for a while and then attempting the steps above
Nothing. Not a peep. Not a little light or sign of life anywhere.
Did I fully brick my phone and have nothing to do other than use it as paperweight or sell for parts? Keep in mind I'm no longer on Sprint, so I don't think I could get it repaired by them.
Any help is appreciated, except for the little reset button under the camera. Let's not go there again. LOL

OMG!!! I didn't even realize! I googled "EPIC 4G ODIN GB08" (is that even the latest stock ROM?) and that was one of the results. I didn't even check!
Anything you would recommend at this point to get my phone back to life? Remember I'm no longer a Sprint user.
If you are indeed on our device, SPH-D700, and flashed a SPH-D710 ROM, then you're hosed.
Our device's last official release is FC09.
Learn from the mistake.
God, this is so ironic! The phone was perfect yesterday and the only reason I was upgrading from GB was to enjoy it for a little while as a backup WiFi only device and then sell it. It's MINT. It looks like it just came out of the box. Not the slightest scratch anywhere. That's how I kept it for the whole year I used it as my primary phone. And here I thought Samsung devices were unbrickable, since you could overwrite ANYTHING on them with Odin, including bootloader.
Someone on that forum suggested I buy and use a JIG. I wasn't really sure what it was, but found many on eBay and the description sounds like what I need. They claim to get you into download mode even if you're bricked. Is that wrong or non-applicable in my case after this huge screwup? Would this one work?

That would be your last bet basically. If it doesn't work then you definitely have a paperweight on your hands.

You completely didn't read this thread. This guy flashed an Epic Touch rom on his Epic 4G. He's tried all normal methods of forcing download mode. He's at the last step before considering it a paperweight, which is using a jig.
Read and understand what is being asked and suggested prior to blindly posting.
i think I'm bricked too, any updates on the Jig method?
We're just waiting for razor1973 to update us on it.

Oh, sorry for the delay. I got the jig and it didn't work. No download mode. Nothing. My mint EPIC 4G (it doesn't have the slightest scratch of scuff anywhere) is now a paperweight because of a silly error on my part.
I have a bricked sph-d700 and noticed after fooling with it in the dark that when trying to get into download the device actually comes on. The screen lites up a little. It then won't turn off without pulling the battery. So, after every attempt to get into download pull the battery.
My problem is I can get into download but Odin does not see it. I have tried on a windows XP machine and Vista 32 machine. Windows see the device (Unknown Device) but does not recognize it as "Samsung USB so and so". Is"unknown device" good enough for Odin to see the device? I have tried several driver fixes and the cable I use I have used for data transfer and flashing another Samsung phone.
Where do I go from here?

Next time start a new thread for your problem; don't hijack someone else's. You sound like you have driver issues. Use a different USB port and if still nothing, another computer.
