[Q] Camera physical quick launch button bug? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wrong behaviour I noticed:
Pressing the button when the screen is on: does nothing
Pressing the button when the screen is off: again nothing
short press the button in the camera app: flash turns on briefly* , phone focusses
long press the button in the camera app: flash turns on longer*, phone makes a bieping sound, but NO picture is taken.
* it only turns on because of insufficient light.
Any thoughts as to whether this is a bug or faulty hardware?
Many thanks,
Jeroen

In case any one has the same issue, you have to press the button quite hard. Much harder than you would normally on a phone. Then it works.

How to automatically turn on and unlock when pressing camera button?

Is it possible to configure the camera button on Hermes/TyTN with Windows Mobile 6 to automatically turn on the backlight and "unlock" when pressed?
Currently, it takes five actions to take a photo when the phone has been "locked" and the backlight has been turned off:
1) Pressing the "power" button to turn on the backlight.
2+3) Pressing the "unlock" buttons twice to unlock.
4) Pressing the "camera" button to start camera application.
5) Pressing the "camera" button to take photo.
Ideally, taking a photo should only require pressing the "camera" button twice. The "camera" button is sufficiently small and hard for this to work safely.
I expected this to be a common request but I have been unable to find any info or even requests regarding this anywhere.
Kinda defeats the purpose of locking all keys if the camera button can be hit by something in your pocket, etc and activate a full backlight with the camera running. That would be a battery waster real quickly...
As I already wrote, I find the "camera" button to be sufficiently small and hard for this to work safely - except maybe if you have all kinds of hard items of junk in the pocket, too - which I don't and which would probably ruin the screen before the battery runs out making that the least of your problems.

install s2u2, that will provide slide to unlock, one less press! Another better idea, don't set your phone to lock when in standby mode as your pocket has nothing. So, there is no need to lock. That would bring down to 3 press.

Wake from suspend without hardware key?

Hi guys,
Here is my dream situation:
- Double tap "Hang Up" button to lock the device (I understand this can be done with AEButton Plus, although I haven't tried yet)
- Screen will turn off after a while
- Unlock the device by swiping the finger
At no point are the hardware buttons pressed! My new cover makes touching the power button very hard
Is this possible???
Thanks
They problem, as I am sure you've realized, is that once the phone enters suspended mode the digitizer is disabled (touch) and so are all other non hardware buttons.
I've always had problems with the power button on the HD being a pain in the neck to find and hit, so what I did to rectify this was cut a small hard plastic sticker to the size of the power button and stuck it on there. This helps a lot in not only finding the power button but also pressing it.
(Sticker was a liquid crystal thermometer sticker made by OMEGA: product number RCL-8050/150 I found this to be the perfect width, so I cut off a 1mm sliver off the end)
If you were really stuck on making this work exact as you described, you could prevent the phone from shutting down and just turn off the screen.
(I'm unsure of how the different screen off programs effect the digitizer, my guess it they all disable it at the same time, but I'm sure all that could be seperated.)
However since only the screen would turn off not the device, you'd drain the batter, and its short life would make this not worth it.
Alternate solutions:
Instead of doubletap hangup which you could do through AEButton Plus, but longpress end key can do the same thing just instead by holding the end call key
Also, you configure your phone to wake up at the press of any hardware key, IE the volume buttons on the HD.

AE button plus - question

Hi,
I have the following problem with AE Button plus with my Touch HD.
I had the problem with closing the phone during i was taking it out of my pocket.
I installed AE Button plus and assigned only to the Red button a function. All is OK, when the phone is ringing the Red button is not working, but the problem is, that when i pick up, it is not working again and i have to end the call with the touch screen button and it is very annoying. Is it possible this Red button function to work only up to the moment i have answered and after that to have normal button functionallity?
PS. Sorry for my bad English!
AE Button Plus - please help
Please, help me with the above issue!
Thanks in advance!
why is it annoying to use the touch screen to end the call?
I would suggest to leave alone the single click of red button but instead map a double click function you want to the red button.
I've had this problem previously. I love AEBPlus and think it is probably the best app on the phone. You need to uncheck the option under 'other options' for 'drop on red key'. Paradoxically this should not be checked. When checked I cannot drop on red key but when unchecked I can end call using this hardway end key. Let me know how you get on!
The AE Button Plus didn't seem to work on my Blackstone (HD). It would work after being reset but after a while, the mapping has no effect anymore. I want to map the volume up/down button to "Up/Down Arrow" and the Long Press of the Volume Up button to run the S2U2 application. Anyone has similar issues?
I have problems with AEButton too. I assign "volume up" to turn display on/off at one click. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it brings up the voume control. Annoying.

That is exactly my problem. I should not have paid for the software if I knew that it works intermittently.
Do you have some taskbar installed? Try to remove.

Samsung Galaxy Epic display won't turn on...

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.
I HATE THIS PHONE! What, do I do?

Need more info.
Can you access the recovery partition and it works fine? Access the recovery partition by powering on the device by holding down: Volume Down, Camera, and Power. Release when the hardware icons light up (down on the bottom: settings, home, back, search). You should see a menu appear after several seconds.
If the recovery partition does work fine have you tried a factory reset?
If it is still problematic within the recovery partition then it is more than likely a hardware issue. Possibly a problem with the power button?

A70 Screen Shot Info

I've got myself a Samsung A70. and after researching for ages how to do a screen shot or what ever the new name for it is.
I find out how to do this, you have to hold the power button then press the volume button, which then turns the volume up, 2nd attempt turns the volume down, 3rd attempt you try move your hands differently and you get a screen shot, of a different page you accidentally clicked on whilst trying to screen shot, then next attempt, I think I've got it, NO I don't want to turn the phone off, grrr. But eventually when you do get a screen shot, it has the volume change across the top.
Does anyone know how to alter the screen shot to the normal power button, the the central button on the bottom?

Mine doesn't work that way:
I press and hold the power button (no more than a 1 /2 second - you don't want the phone to display the power/restart options) then almost immediately press the VOLUME DOWN key for a 1/2 of a second at most (still holding the power button) and release the volume DOWN button - screenshot should be taken (screen shrinks/comes back). Release all buttons now of course.
Hope it works, let all know if it does.

You put your whole thumb on the power button and the vol down button and you click both of them at the same time.
Easier to click the buttons than swipe your hand across the screen.

Yep that's practically how every Samsung device works, infact every device I've owned, so it seems the issue is simply pilot error.
You can even do the same thing in TWRP.
What is TWRP.
I've had loads of other Samsung's phones been the power button and the main enter button on the bottom.
I've tried doing one first then the other and I get the power turn off option.
But them both with my thumb seems to work most of the time, cheers for that. I think the phone case I have causes me some problems, but both with my thumb seems to work for the last few mins that I've tried thanks.

You could always turn to the dark side and say "Hey Google, take a screenshot" LOL
Just press and hold both at the same time. If you are finding that awkward using your right thumb then use your index and middle finger on your left hand.
