I've got myself a Samsung A70. and after researching for ages how to do a screen shot or what ever the new name for it is.
I find out how to do this, you have to hold the power button then press the volume button, which then turns the volume up, 2nd attempt turns the volume down, 3rd attempt you try move your hands differently and you get a screen shot, of a different page you accidentally clicked on whilst trying to screen shot, then next attempt, I think I've got it, NO I don't want to turn the phone off, grrr. But eventually when you do get a screen shot, it has the volume change across the top.
Does anyone know how to alter the screen shot to the normal power button, the the central button on the bottom?

Mine doesn't work that way:
I press and hold the power button (no more than a 1 /2 second - you don't want the phone to display the power/restart options) then almost immediately press the VOLUME DOWN key for a 1/2 of a second at most (still holding the power button) and release the volume DOWN button - screenshot should be taken (screen shrinks/comes back). Release all buttons now of course.
Hope it works, let all know if it does.

You put your whole thumb on the power button and the vol down button and you click both of them at the same time.
Easier to click the buttons than swipe your hand across the screen.

Yep that's practically how every Samsung device works, infact every device I've owned, so it seems the issue is simply pilot error.
You can even do the same thing in TWRP.
What is TWRP.
I've had loads of other Samsung's phones been the power button and the main enter button on the bottom.
I've tried doing one first then the other and I get the power turn off option.
But them both with my thumb seems to work most of the time, cheers for that. I think the phone case I have causes me some problems, but both with my thumb seems to work for the last few mins that I've tried thanks.

You could always turn to the dark side and say "Hey Google, take a screenshot" LOL
Just press and hold both at the same time. If you are finding that awkward using your right thumb then use your index and middle finger on your left hand.

Would it be possible to configure our Rhodiums to wake from sleep mode upon a quick double tap on the screen? If possible it could be set that only a double tap (one tap followed by another no longer than half a second later for example) would wake the device to ensure accidental knocks in our pocket wouldn't wake it.
Any ideas?
Thanks
anyone any ideas?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this isn't possible without seriously jeapordizing battery life, so it wouldn't be something plausible.
Consider that what you're asking means your device will always have to monitor the screen and thus never enter standby mode.
Perhaps you should look into applying the registry fix that will wake your device on any key press (not just the power button). Maybe that will work for you as well, while still letting your device go into standby.
What is wrong with the built-in power button again?
I would like that also (different button to turn on). With the diamond the centre round button would be a better button to turn on the pda than the current power button (which is a little too far recessed for my liking) The centre button is larger but recessed also which would stop accidently turning in on in your pocket.
Link to previous thread regarding pressing any key to wake...

yeah thats a fair point, ddn't think too much about the implications of it having to perhaps always be awake!

Nothing wrong with the power button, just thought itd be a cool feature to be able to do that, but ill stick with whats best!
I think HTC's placement of the power button is perfect. I've been using smartphones and PDAs for a while and that's just the natural spot I EXPECT a power button to be. In fact with my breif stay with a Blackjack II I kept hitting the power button to dim the screen, which on that phone would actually turn it off, like off off.
And as stated above, when your phone goes into standby, the screen turns off, it can't detect anything. In order to keep the sensor on, you would be draining power when your phone really shouldn't.
I'll throw my coin in the hat of "silly idea"
My first Tilt 2, which had a dud microphone, the power button was fine.. It was recessed but easily pressed. My current Tilt 2 I have to press holding the phone longwise.. if I'm holding the phone on the sides I can't press the power button... I'm thinking the screen moves slightly more or the button is more recessed. It's kind of annoying.
Personally I'd also like not have to use the power button all the time myself, although I wouldn't want to tap to do it.. One of the four hardware buttons would be just fine.
Yes, I know sliding and removing the stlyus turn it on too, neither thing I do often.
Hey lads,
this is probably a very dumb Q, but since I am new to all this android schmuzzle and couldn't find ballocks on that, don't judge me too hard ;]
I've noticed that when u press both VolUp and VolDown ( put pressure kinda in the middle or the rocker ) the phone vibrates once and then after several seconds (seems to vary) it vibrates three times fast. Now what the flick is that? Not that much of a big deal but it gets annoying given that even when the screen is off and the phone is locked doesn't seem to give a damn
thanks
has happened to me too but hard to reproduce. I have no ideas why it happens. Sometimes it occurs when the phone is booting up for me as well.
Put ur finger in the middle of the rocker and press ( not even hard ). It happens every time in my case. even when the phone is locked
I get the same behaviour, sure is strange.
Kinda old thread but I didn't want to start a new one either. I've noticed this too by accident. When you turn off your screen and press both volume buttons at the same time it vibrates once and every other time twice or thrice. If it vibrates only once it will vibrate again a couple of times after about 10 seconds. Has someone found a reason to this already?

Maybe HTC thought "Why not? Let's do this and see how they discuss about it." ^^
Sent from my Desire HD
These buttons are part of combimation of three finger salute (at least look like that)...if you press voulme up + Down and power button, phone will reboot....so might be vibration is just an indicator to show go ahead and press the power button for restart.......Just a Guess
Pressing Volume Up + Down simultaneously while having USB Debugging turned on creates a bug report in the bugreports folder on your SD card.

I can't get it to reboot by pressing the 3 buttons.

This is correct, there's always a new bugreport after I press the volume buttons. I don't think that it's even necessary to have usb debugging on.
Thanks for the quick answers, but could there be something more to it?

Nope, can't get it to reboot. Perhaps this is rom related?

It shouldn't be, but its really hard to get it if you are trying to press three button, you can try power button and middle vol button......any ways I also tried lot of times before I got my first reboot....
1) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time = Vibrations & all processes' states and stacktraces dumped to /data/arn/traces.txt (thanks to alind_)
2) Pressing both VOL UP & VOL DOWN at the same time + POWER BUTTON once = instant reboot
Works for me with CM7 and Stock Sense.
I searched the whole GNex forum, and I am aware that to take a screen shot you need to press the volume button and the power button. I have tried doing this several times and in reverse order and I have even varied the length of time between presses on each button but I cannot get the screen shot to work or capture the image. I also tried pressing the two buttons at the exact same time. Is there some setting I am missing or did not check?

Its a bit tricky to get the hang of but basically you need to press both power and volume down buttons at exactly the same time and HOLD them for about 2 seconds. It will then show your screenshot being saved to your phone (sdcard/pictures/screenshots).
Mark.
Thanks, I'll give it another try. Thought I might have a defective unit or that I didn't have the right setting some where.
I struggled for quite a bit too until I figured you have to hold it down. It'll then notify you a screenshot has been taken, just hold both vol down and power at the same time until you get the indication a screenshot has been taken.
Thanks two you both for the answers! I got the hang of it finally... Silly fat fingers couldn't press the buttons at the same time LOL
Can someone close the thread? Solved

I don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.
I HATE THIS PHONE! What, do I do?

Need more info.
Can you access the recovery partition and it works fine? Access the recovery partition by powering on the device by holding down: Volume Down, Camera, and Power. Release when the hardware icons light up (down on the bottom: settings, home, back, search). You should see a menu appear after several seconds.
If the recovery partition does work fine have you tried a factory reset?
If it is still problematic within the recovery partition then it is more than likely a hardware issue. Possibly a problem with the power button?
When I'm using my phone the screen just goes completely black.
I tried hitting the power button, it turned on again but show only the wifi bar (and I can't interact with it). When I hit power button again it just went back to black.
I have to pressed the power button many times hopping it to work.
Sometime when I pressed the power button the screen turned on normally but for only 0.5 sec and went black again.
Anyone have the same issue could give me some advice? I tried bringing it too the service center and they suggest me to replace my screen (which I don't want because my tablet was over a year old and I did replace the screen before( I broke it), so if I do it again, the total cost for this tablet would be too much).
 If you have any idea about this error, please tell me.
Press and hold home button, volume keys and power button same time for ten seconds
