[Q] How to fix the camera resolution in some apps? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
I have a problem that I'm sure you have it too. Which is in some apps such as Path, YouNow, and Glide when I open the front camera, the resolution of the vedio or the picture looks SO BAD! Not like the camera app or Snapchat camera!
Please if you have the solution tell me!

Anyone please?

I would assume that it is per app based. Doubt it is device or firmware specific, try searching through the application settings or contacting the developers specifically. Instagram for example has a setting that says something along the lines of advanced image processing or some bs and it makes the pictures look like horse crap. Look for something like that in the specific apps.

[Q] Screen issues while viewing images and video

Hey, I got my Galaxy Note 2 a few days ago and so far I'm having a blast with it =) But I noticed an issue while viewing photos and videos... and running the camera app as well:
For some reason while the camera is running, a photo is displayed, or a video is playing, the screen renders everything grainy. I thought it was my imagination, but when I open up a menu, all the icons and options look different too, they don't look smooth anymore, as if anti aliasing (?) was turned off. It's even more noticeable when I use the pop up player option, it effects everything I'm doing on the screen until I close the video. This only happens while content is being displayed, though. When browsing the gallery or scrolling through my video list everything looks fine, until I open something. I also noticed this only happens in Samsung's media apps. Using a different app to view photos doesn't cause this at all. I looked through the forums and couldn't find anyone else with this issue, maybe I'm the only one and should get the phone replaced? Or maybe others haven't noticed it yet... it sounds specifically software related. I had the original Galaxy Note and didn't run into this, so I'm pretty confused. Has anyone else experienced this? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

This is really weird. I took a couple screenshots while the issue was going on but when transferred to my computer they look exactly how they should, no graininess whatsoever. I also tested some more apps, namely Camera Zoom FX and MX Player. Those aren't affecting the display at all either. I looked through every settings menu I could find to see if I had something on that I shouldn't, but nothing helps...
Nobody else seems to be having an issue, maybe my best bet is to exchange it, then
I would try a factory reset. If that doesnt work check out a display model at TMo, if its different ask for a new one.
Just did a factory reset, it's still doing it -_-. I'll check T-Mobile tomorrow, though, thanks!

[Q] Camera sphere for 4.2.2?

Hey guys, I couldn't find this answered anywhere but, as always, apologize if it's a duplicate. A long time back, when I was first trying out 4.1, I found a link for a "better camera and gallery" that really was just that. The gallery had a sweet spiral view and the camera had both a panorama and a camera sphere function. The sphere let me take some sweet 3D pics but when I upgraded to 4.2.2, I noticed the overall camera aesthetics are the same as the 4.1, but the sphere function is gone as is the spiral view in the gallery (though I don't really care much about the gallery). My question is, it there a solid updated camera for 4.2.2? I flashed the zip I had saved way back when, but rather than replacing my existing camera and gallery, it gave me new ones (which I'm assuming is something to do with new architecture of 4.2.2, but I have no idea). My main concern is that now the camera often crashes upon taking a picture and until I reboot, the only message I get is "cannot connect to camera." Has anyone experienced and/or fixed this issue that could give me some input? I'd greatly appreciate it! Cheers
Seems like you are on AOSP based rom. They often has too many bugs .
In theme section there is camera with working photo spare by mike.

Gallery you talking is note 2 gallery. Idk if its in there.

Looking for Gallery app (S4/Note)

Since 4.3, my gallery app is absurdly slow to open, and I'm looking for a replacement. Something similar happened with the camera app, and installing the Note2 camera port fixed the lag problems.
So the only restrictions for the gallery are that it must open as the default picture viewing app from within the camera (that's why I suppose only official Samsung galleries will work - S4/Note), and preferably have an editor.
If there's a way to make QuickPic open up the camera pictures from the camera app, I'll take it. But if not, are there any working ports I can test?
Thanks!

Is there a way to fix dark video on modded gcams for Oreo roms?

Hello, i've been using arnova's modded gcams for a while, and noticed that video recording is extremelly dark, and sometimes get black screen flashes on it, not even close to photo's quality.
The only camera that seems to be doing an extremelly good job with videos is the oneplus modded one, but it lacks a lot of features.
Actually the image quality of the modded Gcam is shocking when enabling hwhdr on debugging and setting hdr to high, video doesn't stand a chance. As it doesn't happen only on one app, I believe it is a system or a camera2api configuration that the oneplus camera and the default camera ignores (I am running Pixel Experience, feb latest build, but it's a thing on every Oreo's ROM).
Is there anyone that knows about the topic any way or idea to debug it -be it from the camera source files or from the c2a settings-? It would be insane to have also the video ia for stabilization of the Gcam and maybe it can compare or be better than the OnePlus Camera.
Open to suggestions !
They is another problem with the modded gcam, when we select 60fps option camcorder the screen flickers while focusing and thats been recorded
There's nothing to do to check flickering, dark video and fix colours on preview? images looking a bit color-dead before obturation on some cameras, seems that only aplications that overrides those settings are working good. (modded gcams are dark and flickers on video, apps like instagram that doesnt obture gets a bit of lack of colours since preview doesnt do a bit of hwhdr to have an more accurate end result to obturation and also nicer looks on instagram photos). Seems to be a problem with the phone configuration since the camera can record well on other devices, and the op camera can record well on ours. Not like there are no ways around now, we can use both cameras and take the images with stock camera before uploading them but in long term it would be a nice improvement on social networks direct uploading, easier to take videos and photos on a single application (also to have gcam benefits as it is video stabilization). Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly, im not so good at english. Also, I didnt develop directly for android/camera but if someone with a bit of idea gives me the hand I can check out the settings. I don't have so much free time to learn now but as a developer with a couple of tips on the topic maybe I can find a way around to check those settings. Or if an experienced developer with time and will to do it I can help out maybe. I believe it's worth to give it a look

Question Bad quality when taking a photo in instagram

Hi! i dont know if is my phone that is broken or me, i dont know. When you open the instagram camera, the quality is ok, but when you do a photo, it loses a lot of quality, like if it wad blurry. Can someone help me?
The real reason Snapchat photos taken on Android phones look terrible
Android phones often have similar or better cameras than iPhones. But on Snapchat, it’s not even close. Here's why.
www.businessinsider.com
It says snapchat but it's actually true for instagram and whatsapp as well

try update Instagram to latest version
I don't know exactly why that happens.. maybe it's a compatibility issue.
But the solution to that is: you have to take the pictures with your standard camera app, then upload it to Instagram. This way you will preserve your picture quality. ♥

idk if its new to you but taking pictures from third party apps (whatsapp, office, facebook etc...) always end up crappier than the camera app
Its actually because these apps compress image thats why, No worry.
