Hey guys,
I haven't been on a stock ROM with T-Mobile in a while, but I was wondering if its normal not to be able to receive MMS messages while on WiFi calling?
Noticed that I had a bunch of messages come through when I turned WiFi off.
Thanks!

I think wifi calling is weak and it comes in an out maybe an update will fix these issues
Mine works great for SMS and MMS. I just switched from AT&T this weekend and that's actually been my favorite thing haha! I have terrible reception inside the hospital where I work but great wifi. I used to have to go outside to check messages and now I get it all over wifi!
Wifi on s5 always strong this is weaker logs me off wifi calling at work and s5 had a constant signal at home since Im closer to router its always on

Well in my opinion I just went out and bought a new ac dual band wireless router and issues went away. I was on old router that was about 1.5 years old and was having issues even with note 3. I bet ya if you try new routers that are up to ac and you be all set.

Mine get those crappy numbers on the 2.4 side not the 5 GHz side. Honestly I get better WiFi signal with this phone than note 3. At home I get horrible cell so then sent me the cel-fi booster and that thing is great.

I am currently running the latest version of Wicked rom. I have been using T-mobile for the last few years on several different phones. I need to use stock based roms with wifi calling due to the fact I have no cell signal in or around my home. I have been using my Galaxy S3 for the last couple of months , and I just don't get the range from wifi calling like I have with my other T-Mobile phones. When I get down to 2 bars of wifi signal my S3 drops wifi calling and searches for cell signal. This greatly reduces my wifi calling range around my house. All of my other T-Mobile phones keep wifi calling active until I completely lose wifi signal. Is there a script or tweak that can be made to make wifi calling active until wifi signal is lost? I have searched many times but I just can't seem to find any info. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Aside from Doc successfully answering your question, you may wish to check this out. It should increase the WiFi range of your S3 in exchange for a little of your battery.

Wow! I had long forgot about that! The only issue here is you will have to redo this every time you reboot as it does not stick. I spent a good bit of time on this back on ICS, but ended up moving on to other things. I just tested and on 4.3, it does work by just entering *#0011#, but as has always been the case, it turns back on if you reboot.

Thank you for you response. I changed the settings in connection preferences, but i'm still not getting what i'm looking for. Even when I set my phone to wifi calling only, the S3 still drops wifi calling with 2 bars of wifi signal left. It must have something to do with the S3 wifi calling app itself. With my last 3 T-mobile phones which were a G2x, exhibit 4g and optimus L9 I was able to get 100ft + outside my house before I lost wifi calling. With the S3 i cant even get 5 feet and I lose it.

I've found the wifi signal indicator to be far from accurate in terms of signal strength. For example, when you are at 3 bars, the signal strength might be at 30-40% already. 2 bars is a very weak signal, which is why wifi calling is disabling itself.
There are a couple things you can try. First is getting on the MD5 train. Flash an MD5 ROM along with the MD5 firmware. Get the firmware here: https://db.tt/5C5M8FpD. WARNING, it is the for SGH-T999 only and will brick you if you have a variant (n/l/v) For ROM, S3Rx or Dandroid, if I'm recommending.
Also, check with your router to verify which standard the phone is using. 2.4GHz has a longer range than 5GHz. Also, make sure it's not using 802.11b. Mine was doing this. Had to disable it in the router.
Keep the router away from other electronics, elevate it as much as possible. If the router has external antennas (like the Linksys WRT54GL), you can get high gain antennas (which do help if you know what you're doing), but aiming them properly is important. http://weekendtechnotes.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/antennaradiationpattern2.jpg for reference. Understanding how the signals work may help you in your situation. And remember, the more walls and objects the signal has to penetrate to get to your device, the weaker it gets. A few walls can easily half it's effective range. I don't know what router you are using so no more on this for now.
That's about all the information that I can give you without knowing more about your situation.
Great info from aerowinder! To add, if you are up for it, install inSSIDer from the store. Make sure you aren't using a heavily crowded WiFi channel. Should be easy enough for most to just look at its graphs and know if it's overcrowded.

Yes I'm experiencing this constantly. I'm also getting very poor wifi calling quality and incoming calls are not working most of the time. WiFi calling is horrible
On mine, wifi calling actually sounds better than cell calling. However, every once in a while, the other person sounds remarkably like Max Headroom.
Those having problems probably have a WiFi connection with instability. A person can have 50 mbps but if the quality is below 70 percent then your WiFi calling will be horrible. Dodd doesn't matter. Efficiency does. I've been through this. Trust me.

I'm not sure how this would be the case as my SG3 wifi calling sounds clear with no issues, while my M8 call quality is horrible, always breaks into static and does the stuttering/repeating issue constantly. None of which happens on my SG3
I also have huge issue with dropped calls on WiFi and losing wifi calling while still connected to my router, SMS/MMS not sending while on the device... etc. Honestly the phone is not useable on WiFi calling, it is way to unreliable.
Also for some reason my phone likes to just drop T-Mobile signal when I'm connected to WiFi, which is very annoying.

It's probably a problem with the phone and the router. The one m8 has AC WiFi and trust me it's the best. Your older sgs3 has the older WiFi so maybe it's more compatible with your router. This of course is just a hypothesis. My WiFi connection has greatly improved with the use of the HTC one m8.

I've had no issue with wifi calling on my M8. On my Note 3 it wouldn't ring when someone called me but my M8 has no issue. It even works in my office at work which my Note 3 never did. Check your wifi settings. Search around Google, there are posts with which ports to open and all that jazz.
So far I think it's OK. I used to have Note 3 and the Wi-Fi calling was bad.
What do you think?
So far I think it's fantastic. Just to put that in perspective though, I'm coming from AT&T, which means two cans and a string might have been an improvement.
Works perfect
My wi-fi calling sucks. It's laggy. People on the other side of the phone seem to hear 1 out of 4 words. My network speeds generally seem fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm going to try on another wireless network other than my home the first chance I get.

Theres your answer to one.
Try turning your firewall on your router off. What could be happening is one of the listening ports for the wifi calling is being blocked so call clairty is being degraded. Also if you are running on 5k rather than the lower band for your cells wifi switch back. You need a slower but more reliable stream.
Most of the issues are because of nat
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation
but can be solved if your router has a sip alg function. Check this forum from tmo it has some of the ports you need to make sure u have open if you dont turn off the firewall on your router

Gonna disagree with this a little, as 2.4 Ghz tends to be more congested and more interference-prone. Use 5 GHz WiFi if you can.
I'vs used WiFi calling on both WiFi frequencies with no issue, but I have a $250 pro-level access point that I use.

That can be true the only issue with 5 k is its signal penetration. if you have to go between walls 5k will lose alot of quality.
I use 5ghz all the time. Definitely not the issue. It could be a router firmware issue.
To the op This issue probably won't get resolved if you are using phone at work . everyone else is on WiFi also. Unless u work in office with 3 employees. Do a video screen record with phone on speaker while ur at work so we can see what is going on and we can help if we can.
This is my first wifi calling enabled phone, but so far, it has been great on Wifi calling. I've been using it since I arrived in London Saturday on a crappy hotel wifi connection with perfect results. Before that I used it in a grocery store and my basement back in the states where I never have cell reception...also great results.
Now that I seem to have international data roaming sorted, I'm feeling much better about my choice of phones.

Hi,
I just got done setting up the wife's Note 4, and was excited to give the speed test a try. Because Verizon LTE is congested and crap in my area, I didn't expect much. I wasn't disappointed. 9.5 down, 5.0 up. I have 50/5 DSL with Centurylink, and expected to get some great speeds from the speediest when on wifi. I'm getting an average of 7 down and 3 up. I have a Netgear Nighthawk router that handles the wifi. On my Macbook Air, I get 26 down and 4.6 up. On a wired connection, I get 46 down and 4.6 up. I am not sure what's going on.
Anyone else having wifi issues with their note? Any suggestions on a fix?
Other than that, this phone is damned good. No other complaints. I'm thinking of getting a black one when BB gets them in stock.
Thanks
Mine's been hit or miss, and I can't tell if it's my Note or my router. First time I ran SpeedTest I got full speed-plus. I got 64.87 Mbps down and 6.90 Mbps up (I say plus because I'm only paying for 60!) but yesterday I was only getting 34.5... But my concern comes from the fairly frequent drops I get while on WiFi. I use Internet Speed Meter Lite which shows my network activity speed in the top notification bar and while using certain apps, especially Facebook and theChive, while trying to load images it'll just hang. Could be an app issue as well, but when I turn the WiFi off and switch to 4G everything loads as fast as expected.
My router is a Netgear Nighthawk that I bought about eight months ago. I guess that I'm concerned that this is a dud device. My wife and I both work from home and we have our phones on Wifi most of the time during the day. My day-to-day use would be affected by bad wifi.
There is definitely something wrong with the wifi... Mine struggles to get past 5Mbps even on a 50 Mbps router. Note 3? 50 = 50. Note 4? 5 = 50? wtf...

Really weird then I have no clue... I know most users of AC routers its fine with and those of us with B, G, N ones are having issues. I dunno what to say at this point but its still clearly the note 4 that has problems.
I've tried it on 5GHz a/n/ac and 2.4GHz b/g/n, and got similar results. Of course the range on 5GHz was less than 2.4, so I went and stood near the router.
If I had one Note that was having a problem and one that wasn't, then I might think that it was just the one device. Both of them come out almost exactly the same on speed tests. There's something about my setup that the note doesn't like. I'll be damned if I can figure out what that is.
Wifi speeds are incredibly inconsistent. I get 320mbps down and 21 up on my computer. Phone speedtests give anywhere from 125 down to 15 down, sometimes literally within seconds of each other.
Good-> amazing
I've been downloading around 30-35(Down), Home : DSL : Actual
At work I'm getting, 6ms 49.96(Down) 79.37(Up), DSL(?) : Ookla
I leave download booster on.
Hmmm. Maybe there is something wrong with the wifi antennas in these phones that I have. I guess I'll return them. Sucks, because the rest of the phone is fine. Just bad wifi.
Oh well, early adopter syndrome strikes again.

I must say I've had the opposite experience. I'm in the Northern Virginia area and was worried that coming from Verizon, the reception would suck.
The bars show that I have less reception but so far I've been able to stream the same amount of content as on Verizon and as for cellular reception, even though the bars suggest different I can now receive texts in my office while on Verizon I could not.
I have also not seen more than 1 bar of reception since I got my phone a few days ago. Status says -102db but I don't know where that is in terms of signal strength. Speed tests have been anywhere from 2Mbps to 20Mbps.
I found the problem guys trust me it's the LTE go in mobile settings and just turn on CDMA bet it's fixed but the problem is no 4g than can anyone help??
Signal strength is horrid with the S6 and S6 Edge. My Note 3, my wife's S4, and my sons M7 all have great signal at my house. My S6 Edge and my wife's S6 can't make calls, send texts, or receive texts at the house. What are the odds that my wife and I both got bad handsets? This is just ridiculous.

So you keep your phone in CDMA only mode until a fix is rolled out?

Did a quick search online and found tons of threads with Sprint acknowledging the issue https://community.sprint.com/baw/mo...nt.com:443/baw/api/core/v2/discussions/204525

I've been a sprint customer for 15 years and this is the most pathetic rollout of a phone that I have witnessed. My S6 can't even keep a call connected on LTE, but cdma is fine. Returning the S6 and will go back to the S5 until the problem is fixed. I urge everyone within the 14 days to return your phone, we might never get a fix. Sprint is PATHETIC!

I feel the same but I'm past my 14 days so if they don't fix it I will take it to the FCC REMEMBER THAT GUYS
Same problem here in KC. LTE signal strength sucks... i can get good speeds even with 1 bar. But. Dont get more than 3 bars. .. switch to CDMA... instant all bars.
