Is it possible to disable this mode? It looks like the stupid CD thing Verizon puts on there, anyone know offhand which files/folders to remove to get rid of this?
I'd rather it go directly to MTP.

You could just freeze all of the Verizon bloat and I'm sure that will solve this.

I tried freezing all apps with vzw and verizon in them... didn't seem to solve this. Even after reboot.

It could be a system default then in the system files, but I 'm not too sure. I haven't had Verizon since I had my GS3 a few years ago, but that phone did the same thing.

My incredible and rezound there was just one file to remove. The SGS3 didn't do it as I recall at all... or I inadvertently disabled it super early.

Mine did it, but then again it wasn't rooted (this was before I knew the dark magic). I'll see if I can find an answer for you from my friend with a Verizon G3.
works like a charm
just jump into the system folder and rename the autorunusb.iso file to .bak. make sure you go into settings>storage>setting USB PC Connection and select media device. Should be the default going forward.:good:

unfortunately, this does not work, especially on a Mac.
After renaming the file, and confirming that teh storage settings were correct, it still launches into the installer mode, even if it doesnt auto-mount the folder. This takes up a whole minute while it works itself out.
Other online searches haven't shown anything else to help either.
I still can't get the ADB drivers to work on this mac either... I'm rather upset that LG would release a device that isnt compatible with machines for development the way almost all flagships are.
fixed!

Hey Guys/Gals,
So my screen won't turn on but fortunately, Samsung is fixing it for free! Thats pretty much the only good news that I have.
For reasons that I'd rather not share, there were contacts added to my phone's internal HD (this is an assumption), rather than adding their info to Google/Gmail. If you can recall, when adding a new phone, you are prompted with 2 choices: Phone or Google. On many occasions, I selected the "phone" option.
To my dismay (noob fail), I didn't root my phone after the Froyo update. Hence, I cant access : data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db <--- where i believe the contacts are stored.
I can't transfer my contacts from one phone to another (via the hub and 2 wires) b/c the appropriate settings can not be set from my phone, due to the powerless screen.
I have exhausted all options that I could think of and am now finally turning to XDA for help. Can anyone offer some help please? I will be greatly appreciated.

I responded in the other post you made on the same subject. Sprint can do it as long as it turns on. Got the machine.

This isn't true according to what they told me. They said they need to configure some settings which would allow them to do so. These settings can't be configured unless the screen is on <--- what they told me :/

That's probably what they needed to set. I remember the girl at the Sprint booth didn't have to set anything to suck the contacts off my Palm Pre but I guess it is different for Epic contact sucking.
My phone got in a bind this afternoon and the screen did not survive. It will power on, but all I can see is a colorful band at the top of the screen. I am wanting to mount the phone so that I can get some pictures and stuff off of it. Is this possible without access to the screen?
I would also like to get my backups off.
cant you just mount it as a usb drive?

Check out [Tool] Android Screencast 0.4 (open-source)
If that tool doesn't work for you, I'm pretty sure you can still do it using an adb pull
example
adb pull /sdcard/download

I will have to give that a try. I assume this dies a full copy of everything on the sd card?
If so,I bet this will work because every time I turn the phone on it alerts me about the last text I received before it wan ruined. It still works just no screen.
On a side note, is there screen replacement for these phones yet?
I just noticed something!
You once connected, you may need to press the power button on the phone, then on the computer clear your lock screen.
Then you should be able to get to your pull down menu and activate the USB connection.
adb pull is easier if you know were the files you want are.
also you can tell it were to put the files you are pulling!
Otherwise it puts it in your current directory.
adb pull /sdcard/DCIM/camera c:\phonephotos
More on adb here Lend a hand, learn to LOGCAT!!
Found this one but I'm sure you can find it cheaper.

Great information. Much appreciated.
On the screen replacement question, what is a used SGS2 going for lately? I am going to look at ebay and craigslist, but I thought you might know off of the top of your head. It might still be worth fixing and reselling.
I did have a full discount through t-mobile on one of my lines, so the one I got to replace the broken one was only $200. I originally purchased the broken one for $100. Nice to have friends that work for certain technology companies.
Any recoup on the price of the two phones is worth it.
If you can get into recovery, I can tell you what keys to press to get into USB Mount for your PC.
There's a program called Android Commander that runs on your computer. If your phone boots, it will allow you to connect to your phone and pull files off it pretty easily.

This assumes USB debugging is enabled on the phone already.
To use Wifi mode, you'll need to install adbwireless.
The above is difficult with a non functioning screen.
USB Debugging is set on the phone. The computer does recognize the phone. I will look into all options when I gt home from work. No time to explore here.
I appreciate all of the replies. Keep the ideas coming.

So, the ADB "pull" command worked. I just pulled my Titanium Backup files and threw them on the new device and restored. It is loading up right now. I will wipe the delvic cache and be good.
Thanks for all the helpful ideas. I was already familiar with ADB so I just went with it.
Do you mind providing step-by-step instructions? This could potentially be very helpful for the community.

Hello, I am having a problem with my note 3 where if I access it from my computer (through usb 3.0), trying to create folders or rename anything causes the explorer window to freeze without accomplishing anything. I've seen posts about this before on here but without any solution. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to fix this? Clearly most people do not have this problem. I will update if more information is needed.
I'll add that I am not sure if the problem actually lies with the phone or my computer, however I have never experienced this with anything other than my phone, including of course external hard drives.
WiFi File Transfer can help

I have been having the exact same problem with my Note 3, as recently as last night. I connect the device, the computer recognizes it, and I can browse the files/folders, move things around. But if I try to rename a folder, it just freezes. Actually, sometimes it freezes when I try to copy files too. I have no idea why.
I found a way to get around it, but it involves using the WiFi File Transfer app from the Play Store. The app is excellent. You install it, and then just type in the URL it gives you in your web browser. You can do everything you would normally do with your device (transfer files, rename folders, delete files, etc). There's both a free and a pro version. I bought the pro because it was such a useful app. Link below:

(Hit the thanks if it was helpful. )
I have always had this problem.
It's something to do with how the phone is mounted to the pc. They changed it a few yrs back.
So I now just use wifi tranfer app. It's fast and I don't have to plug up the phone every time I need a file.
And I think it's freezing because it's re reading the phone and taking to long and timing out or something.

Hmm, interesting. Have either of you tried AirDroid? I haven't tried the software you guys linked yet but judging purely by the play store page, AirDroid looks like it functions and looks better. Anyway, I was aware of that option and AirDroid is what I'm using right now but I still find it annoying to have to switch from one to the other. I was hoping there would be an easy fix.
Am I allowed to make two questions in one thread or should I make another thread?
just user airdroid drag and drop or just dont rename folders

Yes, I have tried Airdroid a couple of times, as recently as last week. WiFi File Transfer is much simpler to use IMO, which is exactly what I was looking for. But i'm sure that either would work for what the OP is looking for.
mine also does that on PC, have to retry several times till it stops hanging explorer
it's probably this - http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/0...ote-3-android-4-4-problem-hits-micro-sd-card/
I had issues with my new Verizon Note 4 and used the debloater tool previously to remove Verizon's ability to read my phone at will. It seems the software update gave them the ability again.
In my conversation, he read all my side loaded apps / Google store apps. Are there certain things I need to disable? It's really serious when they can read everything at will and them use wrong information to deny me a warranty claim..

Disable or delete the MyVerizon app because that is the one they use to look for problems on your phone, I'd nix MyInfozone too. I'm rooted so I deleted all the Verizon apps.

Thanks, I am in the Debloater tool now.
I found Myinfozone.apk just cant seem to find MyInfoZone. Any other ones you recommend? What do you use to locate your phone btw in case it ever gets lost / stolen? Just a side question so I don't accidentally nix that.

You have the correct app. As for locating your phone that is done through Samsung if you created a account and signed up for the location service when you set your phone up. I can't remember what app it because I do not use anything like that.
it maybe me however i seem to be stuck and unable to rename my device there seems to be no setting to change it from ANDROID-3D261A4E1BCD1983 is this an android thing or just a razer build issue?
You can change the name under bluetooth when it is switched on. When it is on you can click on the right top 3 dots and rename this device is there
thanks for the reply, bluetooth setting is fine but what i am after is the device as when scanning my network it shows as a generic androidthensomenumbersandletters. this is what i am wanting to change rather than the bluetooth broadcasting name
Hm... Well there's no way without root that I know of, I do believe it's in with the rest of the device's information in the build prop...
I personally renamed all my devices on my router by Mac address but that doesn't help if your trying to change the recognized name
I would of assumed it was in the OS options however still new to android.
Ya I know to be honest I think it's more of an over sight on Google's part ... There a bunch of apps in the store todo it but they all require root ... Guess your just lucky this phone just got twrp ?
On a second thought you maybe able to do it through some adb command

Im trying to avoid rooting of any kinda its not mega important its like you say oversight of google os rather than a problem with Razer but a prompt on setup Name Device option would of been fine so the setup wizard could have done the root work.
For general users not an issue but one of those things iOS has that google doesnt

Just something i miss as i like my device to be picked up on wifi say you had a few phones/android devices and setting up rules on routers will make it so much easier. yeah i can always go by mac address but naming a device is handy like a nickname or even My Phone
