Hey Guys/Gals,
So my screen won't turn on but fortunately, Samsung is fixing it for free! Thats pretty much the only good news that I have.
For reasons that I'd rather not share, there were contacts added to my phone's internal HD (this is an assumption), rather than adding their info to Google/Gmail. If you can recall, when adding a new phone, you are prompted with 2 choices: Phone or Google. On many occasions, I selected the "phone" option.
To my dismay (noob fail), I didn't root my phone after the Froyo update. Hence, I cant access : data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db <--- where i believe the contacts are stored.
I can't transfer my contacts from one phone to another (via the hub and 2 wires) b/c the appropriate settings can not be set from my phone, due to the powerless screen.
I have exhausted all options that I could think of and am now finally turning to XDA for help. Can anyone offer some help please? I will be greatly appreciated.

I responded in the other post you made on the same subject. Sprint can do it as long as it turns on. Got the machine.

This isn't true according to what they told me. They said they need to configure some settings which would allow them to do so. These settings can't be configured unless the screen is on <--- what they told me :/

That's probably what they needed to set. I remember the girl at the Sprint booth didn't have to set anything to suck the contacts off my Palm Pre but I guess it is different for Epic contact sucking.

Anyone else uneasy that no matter what if someone finds your phone they can hook up to pc and have access to your internal storage?? Is there no way to change this and have a charge only option under usb?
If someone has your phone plugged into their computer, you either:
1) Are with them
2) Had your phone stolen.
If you have your phone stolen, there's nothing stopping them from battery pulling, going into recovery, and getting all your data from there (granted you're rooted).
Still ide rather not anyone including nosey friends get the pics of my ding dong off my phone with out my permission...
All kidding aside you see my point right
It's very simple, set a passcode and MTP does not show any data until the phone is unlocked.

I typically prefer nekkids of my gf on my phone vs sausage but to each their own
This is why you should likely have the ability to remote-wipe your device (via Software), and why you need to ponder very carefully what data you keep on your phone. The easiest way to avoid your friends finding pictures you'd rather they don't see is not to keep those pictures on your phone in the first place.
There are encryption-based Lockboxes which function on the Galaxy Nexus, and it does actually support Full-Disk encryption (with many bugs and downsides), but in short, you need to assume that anything on your phone is accessible to anybody who cares enough to take it from you. Remember, security never buys you safety against others getting your data, it just gives you time to respond before they can get access.
Wow how foolish of me. I totally didnt realize and i googled this an apparently no.one else did.either thanks

Hahaha its my own sausage i swear.
Seriously though the guy above is correct. Locked my phone, plugged in, and no data shows.until i swipe and enter pin
There are also apps you can download to lock certain apps you don't want opened. (Gallery for instance)
I agree though, the safest and best bet is to set a password on your phone and be done with it!

A setting for my Exchange server for my company that i work for reminds me each time setup my phone that they can remote wipe my phone. As can i From our Web Access portal for email. Just another option.
Will
Mine doesn't work that way.
I have a pattern set on my galaxy nexus. If I connect it to my computer the "internal storage" doesn't show up until I unlock the phone.
However, if you lost your phone, there are numerous ways to get your data. This applies to most phones out there
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
move the pics you don't want people to see into a hidden folder then they wont show up in the gallery
I have "gotya" installed. Not only will send me the gps location of my ohone command but also take a pic of the peraon using the phone when.an incorrect pin is entered. Screw wiping my phone ill just go get it myself
Hi guys, please help!
HTC Desire Z. Completely stock and unrooted etc. The screen stopped responding a few days ago, so I figure its a broken digitaliser or the connecting thingie between the two panels is broken.
So now I can't get past my screen lock...
When I connect it to my computer, my phone is set to 'Charge only', so my computer doesn't react at all to the phone being plugged in (it does charge though).
I've spent the last few hours reading through various methods online and they've all been bunk. I have managed to install SDK/ADB, but I can't figure out how to use it without turning on USB debugging (or if that would even help).
Anyone have any ideas? I really really need to get some messages/photos off my phone.
I don't think anyone here is allowed to tell you how to use adb to get past a lock screen, I've seen these questions before and mods tend to lock the thread.
But going with you are an honest person what do you need off of your phone that isn't synced to the cloud or on SD card?

Thanks for replying! I tried using adb but couldn't figure a way without having USB debugging enabled (which it isn't).
Basically I just came back from a holiday with a phone which is when it broke- and I made some really great friends who I asked to send me a text with their name/email (as my phone wasn't working), and so yeah I just need to read these few texts/find them on facebook! Pretty minor I know.
unfortunately i think it is against the rules to give you the information on how to, but i will say much of this is available on the internet though you have to dig rather deep (simple search wont pick it up)
may i suggest getting the digitizer replaced, if you do it yourself it will be under 20$ and about an hour of your time. or find a local repair shop to do it for 50 or less im sure.
and for future reference keeping debugging on is a good idea as well as rooting the phone, you will find this time of thing much easier. also using apps like sms backup+ can sync all text, call log etc direct to gmail account so you could loose your phone and still receive them. sorry i cant help much further than this
Hi Guys,
Basically recovering from a broken Ankle, so decided I would fall on it and destory my phone in the process. At the moment I do not have enough money to buy a new screen, if I did this wouldn't be an issue. I need urgently to get access to remotely screen cast the device OR get my text messages backed up as I need some of the numbers ASAP!
The phone is rooted I believe it has the OMEGA rom installed. I cant see anything apart from a couple of lines on the screen and the digitizer isnt properly working so I cant unlock it on lucky guesses!
I have tried to get screen cast to work, got up to the point of restarting the adb as it kept saying offline, now it says unauthorised. So i am pooped with ideas!?! I dont know what my options are now, I can still get into download mode, not sure about the recovery menu as I cant see anything.
Does anyone at all have any ideas? I am ripping my hair out haha! I need this information because the person I am trying to contact owes me enough money to get the screen fixed however I cant get his number, not even through my gmail because for some reason non of my contacts are now synced?!
I may have a possible backup from mybackup or something if it is possible to restore that to the computer? I think some of my contacts and text messages are stored with my samsung account however I cant download that from the website..
Samsung Kies is no good either, as cant connect to that.
I think that is as much info as I can post, if you need anymore to help please let me know. (I will be back online in a few hours, need to calm down and have something to eat!)
Thanks in advance but I understand if nothing can be done, unfortunately due to lack of work and the debt left from the ex, I now have a problem. And I cant claim on insurance as it is rooted.
The reason ADB is saying unauthorized is that there is a warning pop-up on the screen when a computer connects. If you reboot into recovery you might be able to circumvent this.

do you know anyone with an HDMI adapter? you could get a display that way and find a method of your choosing to backup anything you need.
Edit: If you just need numbers try checking your online account with your service provider, you may be able to get some of the numbers that way through recent calls.

Sorry about the late replies guys, had to go away for a few days look after fam member.
I know this, but I cannot authorize it because the screen is broken. What ways do you know of recovering through the Recovery? Download mode can get into, recovery I cant do much from? Without seeing it.

Hmm, A HDMI adapter would that require any settings changed on the phone to enable it, or is that just a plug and play device? Online accounts currently don't have anything stored because sync messed up.
Mods: Can I get this moved to the normal GT-I9505 section Q&A as didn't realise this was T-Mobile and it's unlocked

Recovery should work to get adb working. Then you can pull the mmssms.db file along with it's counterparts and retrieve all your messages that way.

I need help.
I work for a disaster response company.
Here is the dilemma
We have 8 of these devices.
LG G Pad X 10.1 Verizon LG-V930
They are all locked with the google verification and we can not get them to bypass it.
I have not tried to flash a new ROM, but and i dont even know if that will work.
I have seen a few different posts about getting rid of it, but some of the settings are missing and i can not finish that process.
I need help resetting these so that our drivers can use them again

They are legitimately owned.
However the ones we are having issues with are employees that were terminated, or they were temp employeess, and they used their personal accounts on these devices. The ones that used the company email we can retrieve.
We have reached out to them but some are not willing to give us the information to help.

Ouch! Now I understand.
That's gonna be a tough one. Generally your gonna need there login info to get back into them. There are dodgy Ebay sellers that claim they can get passed it for certain models of phones. but honestly that's the only other way around that if it's even possible for those models.
Now if you have receipts for them Google might be able to do something if you get ahold of the right person.

I don't know if you figured this out or if this would help but I think I can get you into the guest account on these devices.
First get a SD card with an apk on it. I downloaded one from apkpure. Then when the device asks you to connect to a wireless network, check the Show advanced options box. Then in the Proxy settings drop down box, select Manual. And click on the Proxy hostname box to bring up the keyboard, and press the settings button on the keyboard that looks like a gear. From the keyboard settings menu you can click the mulit-window button on the bottom taskbar and can open two windows. Open the file manager in one of the windows. In the file manager click on your SD card and try to install the apk you put on it. When it prompts you that you need to allow Unknown sources in the settings, click on the settings button to open the settings window. (Do not check the allow Unknown sources box if it allows it, if you check it, and the device resets or runs out of battery you'll have to go through this again, but when you click on the apk it won't prompt you to go to settings to allow unknown sources because they're already allowed.) Now just click on Users and switch to guest. There are some limitations to this mode, like not being able modify the wifi network (you'll have to switch back to the Owner account to change this).
I found a FRP bypass workaround if you are running 5.1.1 on a LG G Pad X 10.1 V930 AT&T model, not sure if all models are the same. It was FRP locked and all of the other bypass methods must have been patched. I was at the setup screen after a factory reset. I hope this helps.
1. Connect to wifi, then go back to start screen
2. Go to Accessibility > Vision > Enable Talkback
3. Go through the talkback training then draw an L to bring up the quick settings select Text to speech Settings (bottom right corner), afterwards you can disable Talkback by holding the power button and holding 2 fingers on the screen until it disables.
4. You will be in the settings app. Go to Users > Add user > User > Add user > Set up
5. You will be brought to a User setup screen select Next > It will pop up the wifi connection screen select next > You will be asked to sign into a Google account, sign into your Google account and proceed with the Google setup.
6. You will be brought to the homescreen. Go to settings > Users > And sign in as Owner.
7. Go to Settings > Factory data reset > Reset tablet. You can now factory reset and you will not be prompted to sign into a Google account.
I need help identifying what app or setting got me into this mess.
I think the hacker has adb access.
He shuts down apps.. etc
He is messing with the notifications.. i get ony a few. Sometimes they come in late.
I have made reset from samsung setting and the boot menu, AND I INSTALLED A NEW ROM (the one for my phone) WITH ODIN. Still the issue resurfaces.
I think my roomate installed smthg in it. He is on the house wifi and he is got a degree in networking (i think thats what it's called, we study in french in my country)
Please i need help.
If someone needs any further details, please ask.
Avoid the wifi network you suspect your hacker friend is on, reinstall the rom downloaded on another network and stay on 4G and see if it still happens? Also suspect your PC to be hacked...
Thx for replying,
I did format my pc but i have connected it to house wifi.. didn't notice anything out of order though.
I found out about the "Revoke USB debugging authorisations" option in Developer Options. I think it is working.
Today, since i made a new instagram account, i added a mutual friend. Turns out it was an old and lost account, and thats when i got the error from the video.
Fortunately, i fixed it by un.following the account and clearing the app storage.
I need to know what access does he have?
Can't upload the video, here's some shots.
Look no further than yourself for the cause of this... one way or another.
RX: Factory reset, change Google account password.
Stop with the social media crap and go mingle with real people.
This not about social media, it's about getting my phone back.
With my old account, I couldn't even talk to my messenger friend. Today, thats like having your phone number unreachable all the time, frustrating.
Please if you don't want to help don't, but no need for quick unhelpful replies.

How was it compromised?
Understand if it was compromised it's more than likely because you left yourself vulnerable to attack.
A compromised OS needs to be cleaned or wiped... I gave you the solution(s).
No need to say thanks but don't give me lip about your screw ups.
Thank you.
I tried factory reset more than 10 times, different ways. No luck.

Reflash the firmware especially if it is Oreo or below.
If it's not embedded in the firmware, it's being added by you albeit inadvertently.
Your Achilles heel is social media... don't be so predictable. Break the link in the chain.
None of the social apps should be running on the device, they are malware. At least keep them in the cloud.
Email must always be kept in the cloud and any attachments downloaded from it scruntinized or preferably not downloaded at all. All downloads are suspect.
At this point your data base is suspect as well.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

Unless someone physically got their hands on it, there's no known way the Android 11 stock factory image can be compromised by a rootkit or virus. A factory reset is all that is needed.
The problem happened after the reset.

That is exactly what i suspect did happen. I often leave my phone home and my pattern is known for him.
How can i undo a modification of that level.
(I intend to go to a phone repair shop and install new soft with the "box". Is this recommended or is it a bad idea)

Never leave a phone physically unsecured as that's the only real security there is.
You need to have the firmware reflashed then be careful what you put back on it.
Change all your passwords and use secure passwords.
I ithink i this is the problem.( in the pic below)
There was an app called android device.. don't know if this is normal. So i deleted it and restarted and things are back to normal.
Sorry i can't upload the image, the app closes automatically.
