Camera not available - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay I've read a lot of threads about this already but not a single one had any solution for this. So I press the camera button in order to take a picture (my phone is locked btw), the camera app will start and when i try to snap a picture i get "error camera not available". I just set my phone to factory reset a few days ago. I don't have any custom rom or anything on it so Sony's own **** doesn't even work. Getting real tired of this.

I do not use an SD card or have an SD card inserted if thats some important information.

Could you try
Settings > apps > all > camera > clear data and clear cache > restart your phone

WM6 LVSM Problem

Hi,
I upgraded to the LSVM WM6 Rom the other day everything seems fine however after installing a few programs I am unable to add anymore and what I have installed has disappeared from my remove programs list!!! what's all that about and how do I fix this??
thanks
you need to post this in the following thread as this is where discussion about this rom is taking place. Keeps everything tidy then.
HERE
I would hard reset first and start from scratch, it sounds as though all the internal memory has somehow all been used up, you can check this by going into the memory options within Start > Settings > System, select the memory icon, see what is used and what it is saying is free.

[Q] Camera App stopped working

Not sure what happened.... camera used to work fine. Now today I keep getting FCs every time I try to launch it:
"The Application Camera (process com.sec.android.app.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I've tried rebooting the phone, did an error scan on both the internal and external sd cards (they were fine), but still it will not launch. I also tried booting the phone without the micro-sd card inserted with the same result.
Any ideas? I really don't want to have to do a hard reset...

Are you rooted, what ROM if so, also Kernel?
If you are rooted try running fix permissions in recovery.
I am rooted but everything is stock. Camera was working fine with root for a long time. I didn't flash a recovery, just the stock ROM with root.
Not even sure how to clear the dalvik on this phone yet....
This appears the be the only application that is presently crashing although I do notice that there are a couple duplicate app icons (normal +grayed out with "sd" next to it). Even those applications work fine though.
Even some of the other applications that utilize the camera are working (HDR Camera+, Docscanner)
Hmmm, my gallery app is also not showing my photos... I checked the directory and they are there. I think that this is related..
Yes, that would be related. Camera needs access to the SD Card, its not mounting or could possibly be out of space? If thats not the case from the home screen try this...
Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Select ALL (at the top) > Scroll to Media Storage and select it > Clear Data.
Then reboot the device and give it a few minutes to rebuild the Media Storage and see if that "did the trick". Nothing will be lost from your storage by clearing data in the media Storage settings.
That did the trick! Thank you so much.
I was thinking along the same lines and cleared the data for the camera and the gallery but I didn't think of the multimedia scanner.
Awesome! I 've had that happen to me a few times, don't know what causes it either but clearing that data fixed it. The other night while at Guns-N-Roses concert my wife was videoing it on her Evo 4g and she maxed the SD Card out. Well the camera and gallery kept FC until we transferred and deleted the videos giving space back to the card. That's why I threw that in there. Anyway, glad it worked!

THANKS SO MUCH! i actually love you! i went to an eminem concert the other day, and could only take crappy photos with something off the market but this solved my problem!
the application camera (process com. android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.
Sorry for my english, I got this warning after completing the recording, and does it in the gallery. I own htc desire hd, and installed him sense 3.5 (7.0.4.)
I realized when I open explorer in the DCIM folder it contains clips that I recorded. I noticed that the video clips that were previously recorded in the sense 3.0 they were in 3gp format and now in mp4.
Pleas help!
Probably your from or kernel.

[Q] Few questions about installing supernova.

I followed the instructions to install supernova up to the point where you have to go in recovery and run Data2sdInstaller.zip. Pressing volume down + power button all of a sudden doesn’t work and just starts the phone normally. What happened and what do I do?
Also when I go to the SD & Phone Settings it says available internal storage only 34.7MB even though the total space of the sd card has been decreased by 1gb (I made the ext4 partition 1gb). Is this related to the previous problem?
Finally I am noticing that even though I click power off, the phone stars instantly once I press the power button again as if it was hibernating but NOT actually being turned off. Is this normal? Is there a way to change this so the phone actually shuts down?
Thanks
Uncheck fastboot. It's found under one of the options on settings. Just look for it. That will probably solve both issues you are having with having trouble accessing recovery and not shutting down completely.
About the space issue or something you are talking about, you have to flash that data2installer zip to make use of the partition you created.
Thank you very much. It finally worked 1000MB for apps now but a little slow. I guess I need a faster sd card than the one that came with the phone.
Another question. I used titanium to backup my apps, but now the market crashes everytime I need to run it.
Code:
The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly
I googled it and found out people are saying you should change the language to English (US) which I have but it still crashes. What do I do?
I usually use Titanium to only restore my downloaded apps and never system apps. If I really have to restore system app, I usually restore just the data part. I never had issues with the Market that came with the rom although I believe it's still the old one?

"Camera can't connect" and good longer battery upgrade from S3?

1. My "camera can't connect" error message came up. Tried the usual..uninstalled flashlight programs, checked to make sure no other program is using the camera, forced stopped, cleaned data and cache, re-installed google apps, waiped davlik, fixed permissions, upgraded etc etc. Nothing worked. Weird thing is that 'open camera' off play store works fine, but google's camera doesn't. No apparent reason for this to happen either. Any suggestions?
2. I love the feel and size of my S3. Great for running. Easy to unlock and put a ROM on , underclock...what is the longest battery life upgrade I can add to this on an AT&T contract?
What Rom are you using? There is some CM based roms where camera and video is not currently working. I use this work around hopefully it helps you.
Advanced wipe (dalvik cache - system - data - internal storage - cache )
Flash Rom - Reboot
Let it set for 10 minutes - Reboot
Flash Gaps / Kernel - Reboot
Upon reboot download "Titanium backup" you will need premium
Freeze the stock camera - Then download "Open Camera" and use open camera
For Video it has been confirmed that VivaVideo works.

LG G4 : Unfortunately, camera has stopped

After boot loop issue with my LG G4 in February. It was replaced by the repair station without firmware and now with the firmware and Lollipop 5.1 installed with no updates available for Marshmallow.
Now I have noticed that camera crashes when selfie mode is used or front facing camera. This maybe the beginning of things going wrong again....
Can anyone recommend a fix. Phone is not rooted. And I don't want to use the very unstable Android 6. I bought this phone u locked via Amazon and unfortunately don't want to return it to them as LG has changed the serial number.
Totally stuck between a rock and a hard place as can't be without a phone for another 2 weeks.

Look for the camera app in the apps manager - all apps and try to clear cache. Test.
if that does not work, try clear data option above.
Test again...
had a similar problem with another device because i twiddle a setting. and lost the camera. The above fixed it. I learnt not to twiddle that setting again.
Hi, I had this issue and none of the software workaround worked for me. The issue is related to a defective hardware part, the power switch (B0181RDMM6). I replaced this and it fixed the issue. When this part is defective, it can hinder the call screen (meaning that when you dial or receive a call, the screen will not turn on for about 10 seconds) and it can also make the camera useless (meaning that the user will receive an error message on boot and when trying to use the camera. the error message is "unfortunately camera has stopped working". This is because the camera cannot work when the flash is used as a flashlight. It seems that when this part is defect, the phone thinks that flashlight is always on.
you can easily find the part on amazon at amazon.ca/s?k=B0181RDMM6&ref=nb_sb_noss
Unfortunately camera has stopped working Android error
Method 1: Restart phone
Well, this is a very straightforward step that could easily fix the camera has stopped error on your smartphone.
Method 2: Clear cache and data of your Camera application
Most of the time, the application cache may cause this error. To fix it, simply follow these steps:
Go to Settings >> Apps (or application manager) >> Swipe to go to “All”
Now scroll down the list of apps, and tap on “Camera”
Tap “Clear Cache” & “Clear Data”
Now restart your smartphone
Open the camera app and check for the error.
Method 3: Formatting external microSD card
This method is applicable only if you save your photos on your external microSD card. Simply remove the SDcard and move all of files stored on it to your hard drive. Then insert the microSD card in your PC or Laptop’s SDcard slot and format it. To format it, right click on the microSD card drive after it appears on your PC, then select “Format”. Before formatting , you can also try checking for error by right clicking your SDcard and selecting “Properties” >> Tools >> Check
