EDIT: oops, sorry for the bad engrish in the subject
I've been struggling with this for awhile. CM11 and every AOSP ROM I use on S4 causes a bad echo while using a bluetooth ear piece for anyone on the other end. TW roms like hyperdrive work fine as long as I disable noise reduction/suppression. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? I really would rather use a bare bones or slightly modified AOSP ROM then the bloated samsung hackup ROMs.
Questions dont go in this forum bud. Q&A section for questions.

Nope, same problem. Echo is still there. It could be built in noise suppression doing it. If I could figure out how to disable that (its not a menu item like in other ROMs) then maybe it would work. back to hyperdrive for now.

Hi all,
I am going through all the threads that have ics based roms for our phone and thought it might be a good idea if we had a communal collation of all ics roms that are active in this forum with provided chainlogs and small reviews of said rom and what issues they have.
Reason for this is simple, to help other users that are not confident in flashing up to 4.0.3 unaware that they may run into something that they did not bargain for.. Hopefully this way we
A) Get a general run down each week as to what rom is working well which are not.
B) Issues/bugs.
C) Reviews of what works and not.
D) Temp fixable issues ie: auto rotation.
E) May help in less clutter in actual development thread.
I thought I would put this out see if anyone agrees here. I am more than welcome that if we use this thread as a starting point.
In no way shape or form that this thread will be used as a means of competitiveness between devs, to start flaming in any sort of fashion, this is purely a thread designed to help everyone with ics progression where its at, what dev's are up too and which would be safe to flash and what is not and is for experimental use.
Hopefully this could be a useful thread, with the dev's permission in doing this of course
Cheers.
I like the idea
+1 to this idea!!
There are already Q&A threads for each of the ROM's. Why make the board more cluttered than it already is by re-posting what is already in those threads?
People need to learn to use the search function and stop being lazy and actually take the time to read a thread every now and then. A thread like this will do nothing but enable the lazy to be even less productive and will not help. You will just see the same questions asked here over and over and over and over and over just like in all the other threads.
Also if people would read a damn OP like they are supposed to before flashing a ROM they would already know what does and doesn't work and if the ROM is a RC or experimental.
+1

Valued response, and yes using the search tool does help, but. rather than searching for what is needed why don't we have one thread to sum up on all progression? This thread is not designed to have countless questions all this is to gather weekly updates on ics roms from there respected developer. If someone wanted to ask questions they should be directed to the respected Q&A thread as they have there own. If someone wishes to choose to read up on what is happening in the world of ics t989 development then they come here nothing more nothing less.
As this wouldn't be hard to do at every week commencing someone can be anyone can choose to post up any sort of update to any rom and that is valid for that week only... then make up another thread so for example this one wouldn't spiral out of control and inform a mod to delete or close thread... simple that way it would stay fresh relevant with what we want to know, and of course anyone can participate in this.
Again thanks for your input, I'm not saying this is what we should be doing but a suggestion to everyone and see if this would make life a little easier on some. Alternatively if you don't like it then don't post anything worth mentioning and leave for people who could benefit from it
Cheers.

To replace my battery and my camera since it force closes, I use QuickPic as my gallery and Camera zoom FX Pro as my camera. They work pretty well with some minor set backs.
Echo?
Are there any ICS ROMs that do not have an echo????
It seems to be an issue with the flashing process as far as echo goes...easy does it, my DD has no echo...actually while many people have reported that among other bugs the only one I have is the reboot hang...which really...tough **** I have to hold the power button down the few times I need to turn it off lol. Oddly though it does not hang if I reboot into recovery from rom manager.
Ics is really weird...everyone is getting different bugs following the same install process. I'm guessing some of our devices are more willing to adapt to the skyrocket kernel than others...

Guess you got the one with the magic bean.
Well before I went on vacation Tuesday I was playing around with a few of the different ics that are there for tmo gs2 and found that a lot of issues went away when I unmounted the SD card. The camera had no problem and I didn't notice any echoed sound. Kind of strange but one thing I noticed that a lot of native ics devices don't have external SD cards. Might be something for devs to look at.

Which is the Google+ page of the dev in charge of maintaining CM9 on the amaze, no cyanogen dev is currently.working on our device. Sad to see but figured I'd share for those ccurious

Hoping not to offend anyone,
but I just got my note and I'm wondering about the following (can't find the explanation in the rom topics or anywere else)
Are there 4.2 roms out that include the S-pen functionality?
Or will the pen be useless when I flash one of them?
Does the rom need to be TW based to use the S-Pen or are that specific apps that have to be included?
I was also wondering if I flash a plain rom, can I add the S-pen functionality myself or does it really has to be baked in?
Sorry about all those questions, but I come from an SII and didn't have to worry about such things.
Thanks in advance!
First you need to read forum rules.. If you are asking questions you should post in Question and answers sections
If you want Spen features, you need Tw as it use proprietary code embedded in TW framework.. Every TW custom rom has the Spen features but neither of the AOSP does and won't ever have them
Tapatalking on my n7100
spen will be shown as mouse pointer on aosp roms thus it will work like a mouse but no spen features will work like airview etc.
Sorry about the wrong forum, I guess I misread the Q&A part.
So that probably means waiting until Samsung releases 4.2 for the note so the rom builders can base on that.
I was hoping it was possible to add the necessary files to an AOSP rom, guess not. Thanks!

The things I would miss most for now would be the samsung keyboard and note app. Maybe after a while I would begin using other features but for now I'm still getting used to using the pen (I don't always remember I have one)

Thanks for replying,
I have been looking and was quite sure the 4.2 roms wouldn't have those features. The only thing I wasn't sure about was whether the features could be installed afterwards as an addition or not. I'm guessing they aren't.
Correct

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone is working on, or has gotten the TouchWiz camera working on the Google Edition rom. This is the single feature of TouchWiz that I actually like and frequently use, and if it is possible to get it ported to the Google Edition, I will be flashing! This is the only feature keeping me from moving to the Google Edition at this time.
I have seen that the HTC One already has the Sense camera ported to the Google Edition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351965), and I have read that the Google Edition S4 is running a stripped down TouchWiz kernel, so I am hoping this will be in the real of possibilities.

hey Louer Adun, was a bit curious about the difference in image size/quality of both Touchwiz and Google Edition Galaxy S4.if the cameras resolution is on max, is the image size under 1MB(with ur new touchwizz camera or even the old google edition)? because i have a galaxy s4 touchwiz and when i downloaded the google edition camera apk i saw a big difference in image quality and size. Took 2 identical images at the highest resolution, the touchwizz's image size was >2MB and the image out of the google edition app(which includes photosphere) is 600KB. the reason i downloaded the Google Edition camera app which comes with the gallery too, is only for Photosphere. since my camera stayed exactly the same after the 4.3 update.
i know Touchwiz based ROMs are more stable for the GS3 and its hardware, but anyone knows why the GS3 (speaking in reference to the sph-l710 model) doesn't wanna play nice with Social apps i.e., instagram, Vine etc?
here are the issues; for example running instagram's "video" feature, on an AOSP based ROM, it reacts pretty funky. doing segmented videos causes the camera to have a green/purple hazy effect (like a bad VGA monitor)
other minimal issues exist too, but I wanna hear from y'all what could be the issue?
Tried Various ROMs
>>CM/AOKP
>>ILLusions ROM/Slim Bean Roms
>>Liquid Smooth RomROM
ALL of them the SAME problems issues exist.. sucks because i really love AOSP for what it is, and HALO))) and all its goodness
so, what issues are you guys having if any? are you aware of them? did you find a fix?
Lemme Know!
my bad in advance if this issue was answered, acknowledged, or solved prior..
..
but don't just say it, point me into the direction of resolution with a link
There's not really a resolution because most if not all AOSP roms are based on CM, or at least pull a good chunk of code from there
Issues like these happen because AOSP wasn't meant to run on our device, and so it is essentially ported from source using bits and pieces from different devices.
So until some fix is found for CM, 99% of other AOSP roms will have the same issue.

cool thanks. resolution would basically have to be from ground up
and specific to each device
aka too much work for the Dev team
I understand.

Join the CM team then and fix it. You act as if they had some sort of obligation to fix everything you find.
Don't complain if you don't understand the underlying structure and aren't willing to DO.

what part of "i understand" is complaining?
I figured its a lot of tedious work to make things specific to each device and not complaining @ all
so its either you drank the "xda forum kool-aid" or you've been trolled for the past year you've been on this thing.

I have been using Sonic SOKP (which is awesome, but not supported anymore). I love all the features with 4.4.4, BUT my new car only supports TXT/Email messaging with 4.3 (unless in "L" fixes the problem). Lexus says Google broke the feature in 4.4 and it's not their fault even though google says they didn't change it, but when you go digging around on the net, you find many people with the same problem dealing with the MAP protocol.
Anyhow, I need these features to work so I am willing to try going back to 4.3. Which would be the most stable/feature riched (and still available)? Remember, i'm on Sonic SOKP right now and it's nearly perfect.
I figure this is the best place to ask about this.
