I've tried searching the forums for this but can't find the answer
Tried rooting and had issues so I had to revert back to 4.1.2
How can I update to 4.4.2 now that I'm on a rooted device?
Thanks!
Find a stock rom on SamMobile or a select custom rom from XDA and flash via Odin (pc or mobile). You can find heaps of step by step instructions via google etc.
Galaxy Note 8.0 Xposed Build N5120XXDNE4 / Baseband N5120XXCMG7 / Kernel SphereKat-Rev5.1 on Telstra LTE
So all I've got to do is flash the new rom? Jailbreak will stay as is?
Make sure you have a custom recovery installed. The latest applicable philz cwm has a reroot option that can help with root problems after flashing a new rom.
I use a stock rom with civato's kernel, and an old modem file from my carrier. I use Titanium Backup to freeze and remove the stuff I don't want or use, and Xposed mods to tweak the machine. For me this creates a device that is unique and perfect for my own particular needs.

This seems like a question I should be able to find an answer to myself, but I have searched all throughout the N7100 forum and can't seem to find my answer.
I have the Galaxy Note II International Version (GT-N7100). I rooted it with the Samsung Galaxy Note2 Toolkit
When I rooted, I had version 4.1.1 of android. It didn't get any OTA updates since it was rooted. I would like version 4.1.2 so I can run the Samsung Multi WIndow Manager so that I can use any app in the MultiWIndow mode.
What's the best way to do this? I tried flashing a stock rom, but I got stuck when I was required to download a stock ROM. I'm in the United States, but I don't see any region with United States so I don't know which I should get.
Sooo... Is this the proper way to update the Samsung rom if I had it rooted? Is there a better way?
What rom is best to use? Which region do I need for the U.S.? I mainly want to use the multi-window support and my understanding is that I must use a Samsung rom for that. I believe that was true when I first researched it. Is it still true today?
Thanks!
Maybe I'm being dense but did you also unlock your phone and install a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP?)
If so, you should be able to download a rom for your phone, install and enjoy the fruits of your labors. Look for roms that are based on TouchWiz and you should retain the samsung features you want. AOSP roms are base android and will not have those samsung customizations.
I don't know what "region" has to do with it though, just pick a rom that's compatible with N-7100

Thanks for the response, TrojanDroid. If region doesn't matter and I can install any TouchWiz based rom then that makes me very happy. I've used mods on other phones in the past and never had to worry about region.
Yes, I used the toolkit to install TWRP, Busybox, and Root the phone. The reason I asked about region is because I figured the easiest way to upgrade to 4.1.2 or higher would be to flash the newer stock rom. This is the webpage with an extremely large list of stock roms that the tool left me with though, which is where my question came from: http samsung-updates .com /device/ ?id=GT-N7100 (I can't post links yet)
I use the Samsung Multi Window and S-Pen features often. Is it accurate to say that as long as a rom is TouchWiz based, I will still be able to fully take advantage of those features?
You should update to any latest rom, bcoz 4.1.1 having sudden death bug and your device can be brick suddenly without a reason.
Anyway 4.1.2 stock rom itself having Multiwindow but to use any application in Multiwindow you will need to have moved version.
You can achieve it with xposed module (is simply needs rooted device +two simple apk to install)
Now what I recommend
1.You already have rooted device with cwm then make efs backup (can use Multitool from my signature for that)
2 . update latest rom (like mg1 is good in my point of view) with odin.
3.again you can use Multitool to root device.
4 . find xposed module and framework for Multiwindow mod to use any application in mw
OR
Find AnyMod from my signature and enjoy many extra features on your stock rom.
Goodluck

Thanks for the input. I have now successfully installed Thunder Lite and it seems to fit my requirements. I may investigate and play around with a few other roms in the future as well, since now I know that any Samsung based rom should work for me.
Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry for the Noob questions but here goes... Device info first, then the questions
Rooted T989 with Bombaridier ROM (from galaxys2root . com)
ROM Specifics -
Current Firmware Version (per Kies) - PDA:KID / PHONE:KID / CSC:KID
Android Version - 2.3.5
Baseband Version - UVKID
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.11 (Synergy kernel)
...and the questions
1. Can I update via Kies since ROM is not Stock and device is Rooted, or will it fail. ( I get prompted by Kies everytime I connect the phone, asking me if I want to upgrade the firmware version )
2. If successful, will I lose root after flashing
3. Will new ROM contain all the T-Mobile bloatware and other crap that I don't want or need
4. Does anyone know which Android version (4.?.?) was last released for this phone / correlates to this firmware that it will get updated to from Kies? PDA:MC6 / PHONE: MC6 / CSC:MC6 (TMB) is what Kies is offering
5. If answer to question #3 is "Yes, bloatware and other useless crap will be there", than would someone be so kind as to recommend a fast, stable, bug-free JB ROM with good battery life for this phone?
Many thanks in advance, and apologies for the multitide of questions.
Regards.

1. If your phone is detected by KIES, the phone should update no problem.
2. You will lose root but it is very easy to gain it back.
3. Yes it will contain bloatware. Currently I am using Speed Stock Reloaded.
4. The android version is 4.1.2
FYI...
Flashed the phone via Kies update with no problems. Lost root, but re-rooted. Used Titanium Backup to backup and delete all the crap that was not needed, and created a backup with ROM Manager. Phone was running great with Stock 4.1.2 but then flashed with SuperNexus ROM for a more vanilla Android experience since I was giving the phone to my wife. Very fast, stable and problem free ROM if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the information. Much obliged
Hi Everyone,
I'm currently rocking Wicked ROM v5 with SaberN3Kernel_10.7 on Android 4.3 and I have a few questions that I searched around for but couldn't find clear answers.
When I'm ready to upgrade to KitKat or whatever version is out by then, can I just use OTA update from T-Mobile or do I need to flash the stock ROM myself using ODIN?
If I ever wanted to flash a new custom ROM or a stock ROM would I still have Saber Kernel or would it get overwritten by whatever the new ROM came with?
Thanks In Advanced,
Art

1. If you are running g a custom ROM you will need to download the official version from sammobile.com and then flash using odin. The OTA does not work if using a custom ROM.
2. When you upgrade to 4.4 you will loose root and your kernel. It's just as easy to root 4.4 as it was 4.3. If you have a custom kernel and you flash a new ROM most of the time you are given a choice if you want to flash their kernel or not. If it does flash their kernel you can always reflash the one you want. Just as a side note, if you upgrade to 4.4 make sure your kernel is built for 4.4.

Hello, this probably is my last post about E250, since i’m selling the device.
As you may know ykkfive is bringing DN4 to N7105. Out of curious I installed it on my E250 just to see if it boots. Guess what! Yes it works ! So here are steps bring it to your E250 :
1. Flash DN4 + ykkfive’s addon according to his instructions - his topic is here
2. Do NOT reboot
3. Flash WIDzard kernel - here
4. Now reboot and enjoy it.
* DN4 v1 + WIDzard kernel v2.3 are used in the test.
* I used Philz Recovery customised by WIDward - here
* You may want to delete AGNi* apk since they don't work with Wizard kernel
Good luck and goodbye!
i did just how you sad. and my phone stuck at the samsung logo.... what can i do?

A lot of the t0lte (N-7105) builds will work with the widzard (AOSP) kernel. I flashed an LP-LS 4.0 lollipop build (02.03.2015) onto an SHV-250K variant using Philz Touch Recovery, but I don't have a sim card to fully test it out. The wifi works though.

Hi all,
I saw the installation video's online of the WinMack ROM by Heang Narith.
Is it true that this ROM is an international ROM that turns my SHV-E250L in a GT-N7105????
It sounds really awesome but I just want to make sure it works, or I'll get in trouble with my wife.
Does it alsno mean I won't get those Korean messages (or errors, my Korean sucks) and signs on the dial-pad ?
Hope someone got it working before me.
Thanks in advance.
Bart.

I flashed it on an SHV-E250K using Odin and it seemed to work (booted fine); however, I don't have an active sim card installed in the phone, so I can't speak to phone calls, data, or SMS services through KT. I was able to connect the wifi using my active device as a hot spot. The information displayed in the device indicated N-7105 with KitKat 4.4.2 OS. Odin recognized it as such as well. Heang put his winmack logo and info on the home screen. It won't brick your device. Be sure to back up your current ROM, apps, configurations, etc. before flashing it though.
SHV E250L Android 5.0 Official Lollipop Update
Hi,
Any idea when will SHV E250L get Android 5.0 Official Lollipop Update.??
Turning SHV-E250S into international - which route?
I have kind of the same problem as above posters, I have a Korean Note 2 (shv-e250s) which bothers me cos of the korean type in some situations, I'd like you to tell me which route to take to turn it into an international version or to, at least, get rid of the personalizations/unbrand.
Oh, one last bit, reading about either Ditto Note 4 or Cm12 (already downloading the former), which one would you go for and which would be easier to install (my first attempts...) and, true last bit, mobile is already booted and would like to use Odin rather than installing from the SD card.
thank you

I am aware of the threads pertaining to similar questions like mine but I am uncertain of their similarities and most don't provide relevant information that will help me. Here are the current software details for my rooted phone.
Carrier - AT&T
Android Version - 4.4.4
Baseband Version - I747UCUEMJB
Model Number - Samsung-SGH-I747
ROM - Carbon
Carbon Version - Carbon-Quantum-7/25
Recovery - ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.3
I am planning on getting a new phone within the coming days, most likely a Note 4, I plan on selling this phone and would like it to be stock Touchwiz. I don't remember the Android version I was on when I bought it in Dec 2012 but I'd like it to be exactly like it was then, I'd update it to the latest one on my own, or if that isn't practical then I'd go with the latest "stock" option available to my specifications.
I am currently looking at these two threads but I am unsure if which is the one for me?

Please help me. I'd like to go as "stock" as I can. Thanks!
The first method would be your best bet. Your phone has the mjb bootloader; therefore, none of the stock AT&T firmware from sammobile.com can be flashed to your phone.
You should flash back to stock and run OTA to get the latest KK ROM on your phone.
