Hello, does anyone have this issue ? When i turn on skype front camera video quality is pixelated and kinda blurry. I had htc one m7 before and front camera quality was much better, nice and clear. What could be the problem ? Its not a connection problem, lte and wifi...also skype settings are correct with high quality video on.
I have the same problem.
I've tested mine at home with the same internet connection...Video quality is horrible.
I've compared it a galaxy S3 (my backup phone) and quality is better.
Guys really no one can test the video quality?
I've tried with Skype, hangout, Tango.....the quality on the other device is strange.
At least I want know if is an issue of my phone or something HTC can fix in the future (I think is due the type of front camera.)

I got both... I think that Hyma camera takes better pictures. Is a software problem or the camera quality is better?
If is a software problem... what is a good camera software for the BA?
Thanx... M.
Everyone puts the crappy quality of HTC device's photos down to low quality lenses.
However, the preview in viewfinder mode looks excellent, but after the photo is taken the picture is rubbish, so obviously the lens and sensor are fine. Must be the software!
Does anyone else here have poor camera quality, specifically the front facing camera? I feel as if the focus is set wrong, I cannot even get a clear picture of myself or anything.
I may be wrong, but I think the FFC is fixed focus.
I tested it in the store where I bought it and it was okay even though the definition was poor, but at home in the evening with low lighting it's pretty much unusable.
IMHO, manufacturers should scrap the back camera in tablets and only put a single, good quality, front-facing one.
hi all. today I got my new m9 and I admit that I'm really excited. despite all the talks about the bad camera, this does the job for me. however the video recording is really bad. I noticed very poor performance indoors (with quite much sun light in the house) with very few details and basically one of the worst video recordings. the video gets better outside but when I zoom at max, the image looks so bad. I recorded the same scene with the m9 and my previous htc one s and the one s captured more details at max zoom and the image looked cleaner. all this happened with at 1080p recording. when I switched to 4k things were better, the video was at the same level, maybe a little better than my one s. but this isn't supposed to happen. the photos taken in max zoom are good but when i record video they are much worse. i think using the google camera that things are a little better at video shooting. also i think that when I start recording video, it automatically zooms a little bit. I have installed latest OTA and latest camera update from playstore. I will appreciate if you can share your video shooting experience here, basically if you experience such bad image quality when you fully zoom in at 1080p. Thank you.

I know what you mean, it gets really pixelatedat max zoom, I believe this is to do with the sharpness which hadn't been completely addressed, the ip6 and note 4 are far more capable in terms of the camera, bit of a bummer but not a great deal you can do about it. Try a different camera app, snap camera is quite good.
Hey, Mix 2 is going on sale tomorrow in India and at the last moment I'm confused whether to buy it or not. The main concerns being camera performance, the sound quality and the display. Help me out please:
Display: After rooting is anyone able to get videos from youtube and other sites running full screen (i.e. 18:9)?
Also do you feel the absence of AMOLED screen of QHD?
Camera: I've heard from multiple sources that even though the camera sensor is same as in g6, it doesn't fair as well because of software drawbacks. Has anyone tried the google camera port to find any improvements in camera quality?
Sound: Is it decent enough for watching movies with another person?
The Screen is bright and has nice colors.
I do not notice that Landscape video is "letterboxed". Having com from phones with large top and bottom bezels, a little extra black space on the sides disappears.
Sound is a little low, but good quality from the speakers. No problems if you connect a BT speaker.

What about the camera? I heard picture quality isn't great because of software drawbacks. Is it so? Could you try the new google camera v5.1 for any improvements?

I do not notice any difference in the camera and with my former phone, a Nexus 6P. Supposedly the Google HDR+ camera port improves the quality, but I have not bothered yet.
I received my 20x yesterday and so far I love it.
I was using the video camera and zoomed in but the screen quality was terrible really grainy and noisy. Is this due to the screen quality/resolution or possibly a camera fault. All other camera modes are perfect.
I agree

The video recording is very bad. I hope the next update corrects it.
Try to use other setting except FHD 60fps and it will look better
