The G2X left such a bad taste, that I would never buy an LG phone again. Good find though.

Yeah I saw it on Facebook too. That's a hell of an outright price in my opinion. If I didn't already have my S3 I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

The main reason I won't go for Nexus phones is because of the lack of SD card support.

It'a a Nexus phone. LG won't have anything to do with it except making the phone. All software support will come directly from Google. So gone are the days waiting for LG's updates.
It doesnt draw me away from my S3 enough. I here there is Wireless charging for it though... Still an LG Device.
There were alot of Rumors, i thought Motorola would have got it.

G2X was also supposed to be a Google Phone and look at what happened to that.
I understand this is part of the Nexus line up, but no SD and the fact that it's an LG is like nah! I'll pass.
Price is good though.

That was a Google Experience phone, meaning it was just stock Android from LG.
This is a Nexus device, so all support will come from Google, and not LG.
It's an insane deal, but no LTE or microSD expansion is a real turn off...
I am thinking about it but im leaning more towards the no
The main UPS:
The Display (no matter if LG sucks, They make the best displays hands down. no argument there)
Processor (Well the S3 is pretty smooth so)
Battery life (Friking 15 hours talk time! TALK ABOUT OPTIMIZATION)
***if you really think about it, those are the things that mainly drive us to what we consider a "good" phone.
The Main Down:
Its made by LG (and for those who say google deals with everything, um about that. My nexus 7 had to get serviced by Asus not Google..correct me if im wrong though)
No SD card slot (Although we know all nexuses are like this we pray one day Google releases a Nexus with SD expand ability)
T- Mobile 21mbps HSPA+ (Comon really??? So my 18Mbps down would drop
Personal Preference: APT-X ( I have apt-x BT headphones and i know the sound difference between the apt x codec and SBC codec)
Its a good device, but I may keep the s3. I am drooling on that nexus 10 though. Maybe next year
Can someone confirm that Gizmodo has their facts straight and that this phone will be unlocked for $300?!?! surely thats not right. Then we could all sell our GS3s and get this phone for free and have money left over 0.o
EDIT "Great value
We’ve always focused on building great devices at great value. And we think today’s devices offer the very best that money can buy. Here are more details on when and where you can pick up your next Nexus device:
Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details)."
AHHHHH FREE FLAGSHIP PHONE!!!!
299 at the play store with no contract for the 8gb,
But i agree with others, after owning a G2X, I will never purchase LG again,

Lmao. G2x wasn't a Nexus phone. It just came with Vanilla Android. Spec-wise, the G2X isn't too far from the S3 imo. Besides, Google wouldn't have chosen LG to be the maker of their flagship device for nothing. I love both LG and Samsung, but in my experience and share of phones...i'd take LG for its overall build quality.
With dropbox, box, google drive, etc...I can do without the microSD...if this has a lot of developer support, I'd seriously consider jumping ship...I'm not overly impressed with the SGS III...
I hate to say it, but the Nexus 4 is REALLY tempting me. Even though I just got this phone 3 months ago and it is by NO means out dated, some part of me wants to sell my S3 and get the N4 without spending any extra money at all. Do you guys thing it's a problem that LG made it? I'm skeptical. Any of you guys thinking the same thing?

How so? At least for me it is not because I use Tmo so I don't use LTE, and I really do not need that much storage space.

S-OFF was just released yesterday. I bought my One from the Rezound yesterday too
I doubt you will find too many people here suggesting the DNA. You are on a One forum
By far, the best phone I have owned and I have owned most of the "TOL" models in the last year.
I'm currently sitting on a DNA, and now that the S-off method is out, I'm seriously looking at getting the One. I'm just trying to justify the cost, as is have to pay full retail (I'm on a grandfathered unlimited plan), and it doesn't seem to be *too* significant of an upgrade over the DNA. Any thoughts?

If you can swing it, I'd say go for it! A friend has a DNA and I've had some decent hands-on with it - it's a great phone already. In my opinion, the biggest "wow" factor is going to be the audio performance. I've never been big into watching videos/Youtube on a phone up until the One. Granted, I am probably more into sound than the typical user, but still. The other thing is probably battery - a nice 280mah bump, almost 15% boost.
And I am guessing you'll probably see more developer support for the One vs DNA, just because the install base is that much bigger.

I just came from a DNA about two weeks ago. No regrets at all. It was worth the extra money between selling the DNA and getting a One for me.
The DNA is good enough if you want to save money. my Fiance has the DNA and I have the One and we're basically running the same phone, except mine is a better camera/speakers and hers is a bigger screen. The DNA and One are both very good phones, especially with Venom about to release a Sense 5 ROM for the DNA.
If you have that kind of disposable income, might as well.
Thanks for the responses guys! I went ahead and got the One last night - definitely liking it so far. I obviously haven't used it enough to definitively judge the battery, but it does seem quite good so far, even compared to my DNA which was underclocked and undervolted.
Thanks again for all your input - I really appreciate it!

It's not bad. It's quite a bit better than my evo lte though you wouldn't expect a huge difference by the specs. and the evo is on aosp whereas the one is on sense. (Thought I'd add that since the evo came with sense 4 which was a huge battery hog.) Enjoy it man.

You think the camera on the One is better? I have much much more noise in my pictures taken with my One vs pics taken with my DNA. I am actually REALLY disappointed with the One's camera. I think going with 4MP "Ultrapixel" was a terrible idea. Speaker hype was way too much, yes better than the DNA, but way below what Beats by Dre quality should be. My beats earbuds that cam with my Rezound were beast, speakers on the One so so... I would compare it to taking the speaker from the DNA and placing two of them on the front of the phone.
Not trying to rip your post apart, I agree that they are both very good phones with the One being the better of the two. 32 internal was huge for me coming from 16, would have loved a 64 variant.

I'd go with the G2 just to have a faux Nexus 5, very much like how our LGOG is a faux Nexus 4. But the M8 does look quite sexy, and you can always throw AOSP on that once the dev team steps up. Logically I'd say go with the M8 for it being the latest and greatest, but for ROM purposes I'd say the G2 wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Or, you could flip a coin and let fate decide. I usually do that when I'm really stuck between something, lol.

I was thinking that, but looking at specs, it doesn't seem to be so much better to warrant the price difference.
I read that the LG G2 has serious issues with ASOP roms. I may be getting a new phone and that would be a deal breaker.
EDIT: maybe not serious problems but that kinda put me off also resale value of the new HTC one!
The HTC one 2014 still has 4 MegaPixel camera. Keep that in mind. I would say G2 for camera and AOSP ROMs will get better in time. Plus the UI is pretty nice on G2. One has beautiful UI, but lacks camera. Honestly is it up to you. If you use camera on phone, I would go G2. If camera isn't important, look at One.

I will never buy an LG phone again. 1 significant update in the 1.5 years for the LG OG is pathetic.
The Dev community has been great, but ASOP does not have conversation view and encryption does not work on LGOG CM
I purchased the M8 and have no regrets. I was concerned about the camera but the pictures have been a lot better then the LG OG in low light.
I would not purchase the G2.

The camera on the G2 sucks. It's great under good lighting conditions but fails at a lot of other aspects. It pretty much suffers from the same problems the LGOG suffered from. Great camera but awful software utilizing it. LG don't know how to tweak a camera to save their lives. Even the original M7 with its 4mp was better to use. At least the M8 has an extra sensor to improve it some more. For best camera I would always go with Galaxy devices, Samsung tweaks their cameras for optimum performance and do a great job at it.

I agree. The galaxy Cameras are great. Only problem I have with Galaxy devices are the power button fails. Went through 2 because of it. LGOG didn't have a terrible camera, but it wasn't the best either. I just don't believe 4MP would cut it if you wanted to crop or zoom at all. Don't know what HTC was thinking. He is correct though, if a camera is what you're going for, Samsung can usually deliver. G2 just has some neat functions and is good for daily use. One has speakers and clean UI with good built quality. Samsung has good cameras and (to me) pretty good build quality, even if it is plastic. Don't forget about the Nexus! Good build quality, more bang for buck, and all the AOSP support you will ever need!

I hope you know ultrapixels is a made up gimmick word HTC came up with to make 4 megapixels sound awesome.. And yes you can zoom but doing so ruins the pictures quality because at the end of the day it is just 4 megapixels. Only reason they made up the word ultrapixels was because of the low light performance and to sell off 4mp.

My friend has a one max. It is four mega pixels, but the sensor brings in more information. We tested our cameras side by side, and his was the same as far a zooming in went. And low light was better.

Than either he has a very special HTC One or you two are not photoheads. I have the One on my account for my aunt and when I compared it with my Note 2 back then the Note 2 blew it away as far as cropping/zooming goes. You will start to see some distortion as you zoom/crop.. Did you do your test on a PC or from the phones display? It's funny because all the reviews have similar results. Idk if your fanboying to the max or really believe you got those results. Those sensor bring more information for lowlight performance they have nothing to do with zooming and cropping, just nice pictures at night. Heck even my sisters HTC EVO 4G LTE smokes the One..
If I can I'm picking the HTC one M8 over the LG G2. Build quality/speakers/Snapdragon 801 is enough for me.
The only LG product I would buy now would be a Nexus. I read all the horroe stories about updates of previous phones. I thought for sure because our flagship phone was based off a Nexus we would get timely updates. I want to wait and see what the Note 4 has to offer.

Alright, so I was really unimpressed with the performance of the G3. Laggy and not very smooth. So, I decided to give ART a try and switched. Now everything runs super smoothly, like I would expect from a device I paid 600 € for. Can anyone confirm this?
Running stock ROM, not rooted.

That's what ART was designed for.

Yeah, sure. However, I didn't get any improvements on the Nexus 4, so I wasn't really optimistic about it. Just wanted to share. I'll check improvements on battery life tomorrow.
I noticed it was a bit smoother . but I found rooting and freezing unused bloatware has made a better improvement however I am not on art at the mo so maybe it will improve even more if I changed it again. I expect this device to be on par with my previous htc one m8 if not better and I still think its just under on performance for the ui I hope it improves as I love everything about this phone its design is fantastic and that's come from a full metal m8

That's a weird "upgrade" the m8 is a fine device.
I'm a apple fan to I buy most flagship devices. Htc one m8 had speaker faults then had screen problems. I gave up with that so quickly but I would say it was mega quick tho to use and the CPU is clocked under the g3 cpu. So I wouldn't say a upgrade

Some of us find the M8 a poor excuse for a flagship device. So many ****ty design choices, the foremost one being the useless speakers that just add device bulk and use up real estate without adding any useful functionality. The killer for me was the placement of the black band with the HTC logo. I was always pressing it expecting it to do something. At least they could have put it on top of the screen where it would not have interfered with the user experience as much.

I thought the design could of been better it just felt to long. Good materials used I thought tho. But saying that I love the plastic on the g3 in my opinion it feels the best built flagship device at the moment. S5 is just awfull I personally think the banding around that is so dam cheap

I applied ART last night and I concur with OP. It a heck lost smoother esp between transitions.
Previously there was an annoying nanosecond delay when switching apps or waiting for my SwiftKey to appear, now it's gone.
Also the response of an app opening is almost instant too.
Give it a try guys... I'm not looking back now

Any downsides? Apps crashing/being incompatible, etc.

Apart from losing the option to use Xposed, there aren't any downsides. Just remember that when you switch over, it can take 10-20 minutes for all the apps to load at boot. Make sure you have time to do this. You won't have to reset your phone but it will take a while before it's useable.

The only thing I noticed is that the Amazon DE app isn't compatible with my device anymore. However, the perfomance increase is worth it big time.

So far my apps haven't crashed. Regardless as some have mentioned, the performance increase is worth it.
As time goes also, apps will become more compatible with ART esp with Android L ard the corner
