S-OFF was just released yesterday. I bought my One from the Rezound yesterday too
I doubt you will find too many people here suggesting the DNA. You are on a One forum
By far, the best phone I have owned and I have owned most of the "TOL" models in the last year.
I'm currently sitting on a DNA, and now that the S-off method is out, I'm seriously looking at getting the One. I'm just trying to justify the cost, as is have to pay full retail (I'm on a grandfathered unlimited plan), and it doesn't seem to be *too* significant of an upgrade over the DNA. Any thoughts?

If you can swing it, I'd say go for it! A friend has a DNA and I've had some decent hands-on with it - it's a great phone already. In my opinion, the biggest "wow" factor is going to be the audio performance. I've never been big into watching videos/Youtube on a phone up until the One. Granted, I am probably more into sound than the typical user, but still. The other thing is probably battery - a nice 280mah bump, almost 15% boost.
And I am guessing you'll probably see more developer support for the One vs DNA, just because the install base is that much bigger.

I just came from a DNA about two weeks ago. No regrets at all. It was worth the extra money between selling the DNA and getting a One for me.
The DNA is good enough if you want to save money. my Fiance has the DNA and I have the One and we're basically running the same phone, except mine is a better camera/speakers and hers is a bigger screen. The DNA and One are both very good phones, especially with Venom about to release a Sense 5 ROM for the DNA.
If you have that kind of disposable income, might as well.
Thanks for the responses guys! I went ahead and got the One last night - definitely liking it so far. I obviously haven't used it enough to definitively judge the battery, but it does seem quite good so far, even compared to my DNA which was underclocked and undervolted.
Thanks again for all your input - I really appreciate it!

It's not bad. It's quite a bit better than my evo lte though you wouldn't expect a huge difference by the specs. and the evo is on aosp whereas the one is on sense. (Thought I'd add that since the evo came with sense 4 which was a huge battery hog.) Enjoy it man.

You think the camera on the One is better? I have much much more noise in my pictures taken with my One vs pics taken with my DNA. I am actually REALLY disappointed with the One's camera. I think going with 4MP "Ultrapixel" was a terrible idea. Speaker hype was way too much, yes better than the DNA, but way below what Beats by Dre quality should be. My beats earbuds that cam with my Rezound were beast, speakers on the One so so... I would compare it to taking the speaker from the DNA and placing two of them on the front of the phone.
Not trying to rip your post apart, I agree that they are both very good phones with the One being the better of the two. 32 internal was huge for me coming from 16, would have loved a 64 variant.

I agree the camera is a little sad. It takes super pics most of the time. Sharp and brilliant. But if they stayed with 8 megapixels and made those ultra, it would rock.

I have been a long-time iphone user, but got tired of the limits of ios. My first droid phone was the Infuse, and I really like that phone, but switched to Verizon recently so I bought the Bionic.
The Bionic was slower in every respect than the Infuse. I was big time disappointed in the screen door looking screen, and the fact that I couldn't keep apps from disappearing.
My wife at the time was making her choice for a phone (she had an iphone 4 on att) and I suggested the Dinc2. She brought it home and I really liked it. Once I began researching the dev support for this phone, I decided to return the Bionic and get myself one.
Long story short, I have now tried many different roms, and I am really enjoying this little phone.
At the end of the day, I wanted a phone I could tinker with. And this Dinc2 delivers in spades. Plus, I really enjoy Sense.
I would like to thank all of the devs for the depth of support on this little device.
It may sound crazy to some that I "downgraded" from the Bionic, but trust me- the Bionic has nothing on this phone.
if your incredible2 is anything like mine you wont be disappointed, this is by far one of the best phones anybody can own.
it does have have a crappy speaker in my opinion but if you install any of the custom kernels like this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180085
your invoice calls would be a whole lot better and also the battery life
FYI, make sure its a Sense kernel.

expected 30millions by the end of quarter 4...their numbers speak for them self
need more storage? won't be able to add micro sd
the main thing that through me off from the hox is built in battery and not sd storage
either then that the hox is a nice unit but I wouldn't trade if it be up to me
I believe you already made the right choice by choosing the s3 in the first place but in the end it's up to you
 There is a reason your friend wants to trade, it's because yours is better.
The removable battery and no external storage are deal breakers for me.. But a distant 3rd deal breaker is resell value.
HTC 1x isn't easy to sell now and will be very hard later.. Not worth it..
Ask him for 100+his phone if you are considering it otherwise you're getting ripped off

I tend to disagree. I just made this trade and am now on the GS3 side of it.
It comes down to preference. I think the HOX was a much more solid device. I won't get into the dual v quad argument now because it's pretty much moot.
The GS3 is the "it" phone for now, but the HOX has a niche that I think makes it just as valuable to the right people. If your motivation is purely liquidity, then stick with your GS3. If you want to try a new experience that could potentially be better for you, I think the HOX is worth a try. I liked it.
Others have said get him to add cash. I would ask for $50 and not take any less. Explain these reasons. It's fair.
Thanks for your thoughts guys. I think I'm gonna stick with my s3. I rather do enjoy this phone and after doing a little research the little things the S3 has over the hox are pretty big to me. Like removable battery and sd cards. The other thing is the S4 chip is pretty amazing ntm I feel i would regret the trade. Also my s3 is red lol

Well I was hesitant of the offer to begin with. Reason I started thread was to hear a wider degree of opinion, and everyone's thoughts were right along with my own. The S3 is a stellar phone. I'm a little sour with at&t atm cause I guess they will be bringing the Exynos version stateside with LTE support but bleh. The S4 seems to be showing these quad core chips a fight.
Honestly. I didn't really know a great deal about the International HOX because I never cared to know till my friend made that offer. Would pique anyone's interest i imagine. All said and done though. I will not part with my S3 unless I find a way to get the Note 2.

Does this really belong here? prolly not
but i know a lot of inc2 users dont want to upgrade and loose unlimited data, and buying phones off contract can be crazy expensive to keep it
inc4g can typically be had for under $250 on ebay/cl, and now we have s-off coming (which being locked was a major point for many to avoid the phone)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1944157
basically thought id throw this out there, for those looking for a pretty good (i love it, others refuse to use anything smaller than 4.3 inch screen these days) 4g phone that can be had off contract used for just about upgrade pricing, can now not worry about having an unrootable/locked phone :good:
it will most likely be getting official jellybean at some point, which the rezound probably wont (nothing against rezound, but that could be a deal breaker for some)
Awesome, the not unlockable at all part was definitely what had me staying away from this, I knew it'd get done eventually though, thanks for the heads up.

yeah ive had the inc4g since launch...i was one of the fortunate ones (maybe 80-100?) that got dev unlocked through htcdev when the phone was unoffiicially supported for its first 10 days post launch...after that htc killed support to it...
theory was either a) verizon told them to (verizon claims our stock release software and unlock would cause issues...according to some support folk) or b) verizon just didnt want it unlockable
in any event, it ll work out in the end, cuz we probably wouldnt have soff if we had dev unlock as andy might not have had to reach out to the i/o guys if we still had unlock...and soff is so much better
but our sense4.1/android 4.0.4 update this week contained the exploit the guys needed to get temproot and soff the device supposedly :good:
as for the device?
battery life is incredible for a 4g device...on the stock battery and kernel i get 4 hours screen on time regularly (more than my inc2), in lte coverage the whole time...radios are very good
comparing it to the inc2, i guess form factor differences would be iphone 4s vs iphone5...the inc4g is narrower, but qhd res....i happen to like the screen a lot (even though some blogs killed it)....its very responsive, and smooth (even more so now on sense4.1 vs 4.0)
Keep us posted on the s-off. Thanks nit.
Thanks for the info Justin.

If anyone cares for another opinion, I can pretty much confirm Justin's take on the Dinc4. I had the Dinc2 for quite a while and absolutely loved it (now my dad loves it.) I was predisposed to the Dinc4 because the form factor of the Dinc2 was perfect. Once I noticed Justin had the phone and knew it would have great ROMs, that sealed the deal. My phone arrived THE DAY HTC removed it from their unlock tool :'(
So after 3 months with the Dinc4, I'm a little baffled by the amount of negative reviews on this phone. The screen is fantastic, the camera is outstanding, and the phone (stock) is smooth and responsive. The latest update made it even better. Battery life is great. If you like your Dinc2 as much as I did and aren't looking for a phablet size device, I think this is a great upgrade.
Cheers.
+1 I just got mine and I love it. Except for the lack of root, but like nits said that will be available in the near future. The form of the phone reminds me of the og inc and I loved that lil guy
if root ever becomes available for it, i might look around to trade my dinc2 + some cash maybe, for one. dinc2 is my first Android based phone and I really love it. I even liked it on stock, but root is just amazing lol
We're told root is coming soon

yeah, just fastboot a recovery and flash a superuser package and youre set (post s-off)
I think just maybe HTC threw the dinc4g a bone. They have supported the android underground in the past. They still would if very greedy wireless hadn't stepped in.
It makes sense to me, that they released an update knowing full well that we could exploit it.
Anyone else think the same?

I've been an HTC guy for years, I've tried a couple of Samsung's (Galaxy S(fascinate), Galaxy Nexus,S4) and I keep coming back to HTC.
Personally, I can't stand anything bigger than the Rezound/Galaxy Nexus. I returned the S4 because I couldn't find a comfortable way to hold it. The DNA wasn't much better (gave to my mother after a week)
The HTC one is a perfect fit size wise, I honestly don't know how anyone can use the note's as a phone... Just too big.

I came from the S3 and so far, it's a very nice phone. I really like how it feels in the hand when you are talking and I like how I can swype with one hand. As far as speed, it doesn't really feel faster than my S3, they feel about the same. Sense is fine, I use Nova as my primary launcher. Battery is good, better than the S3. But keep in mind, it's not unlocked right now and we don't know if any devs are working on it.

I've had 0 issues with lag on this phone, the speed is pretty staggering.
i've had the phone for a week and have been very impressed with it. Battery gets me through a day. its very fast as well i haven't noticed any lag.
I haven't seen any of these high end phones lag. I'm thinking some people just like drama. Great phone. Use my rule though be happy and make your purchase based on what is on the phone assuming it will never be unlocked. I've been pretty happy using the logic. I'm unlocked myself, but also happy running rooted stock sometimes.
Long time HTC user up until recently had the sg3/sg4/
This phone is great, I highly suggest it.
The build quality i superior to Samsung, and IMO we have a much better chance of unlock root for this phone than on the s4.
I have a good feeling I'll be selling my s4 in the near future.

Re read my post. I've used an s4 its pretty much just as good. People are biased from time to time. Also as my other post said lag is more perception at this point. These super phones do amazing things. Sometimes I think my keyboard "lags" on the one badly for instance. I also realize the other factors at play. Heck people here in this forum complain about sense 5 being laggy. My point is that lag is half perception.

I suggest you ask clearer questions.

nice work and i love the titanium body good work guys
New phone day is upon me and I have to make a decision. I'm leaning toward the G2, but am interested to hear other peoples opinions.

I'd go with the G2 just to have a faux Nexus 5, very much like how our LGOG is a faux Nexus 4. But the M8 does look quite sexy, and you can always throw AOSP on that once the dev team steps up. Logically I'd say go with the M8 for it being the latest and greatest, but for ROM purposes I'd say the G2 wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Or, you could flip a coin and let fate decide. I usually do that when I'm really stuck between something, lol.

I was thinking that, but looking at specs, it doesn't seem to be so much better to warrant the price difference.
I read that the LG G2 has serious issues with ASOP roms. I may be getting a new phone and that would be a deal breaker.
EDIT: maybe not serious problems but that kinda put me off also resale value of the new HTC one!
The HTC one 2014 still has 4 MegaPixel camera. Keep that in mind. I would say G2 for camera and AOSP ROMs will get better in time. Plus the UI is pretty nice on G2. One has beautiful UI, but lacks camera. Honestly is it up to you. If you use camera on phone, I would go G2. If camera isn't important, look at One.

Just make sure Cyanogenmod supports the one you want.

I had the HTC One for a while before I had to give it to my wife and get the LGOG. Long story.. Anyway, the 4ultrapix camera was awesome and the software that came with it is amazing. I can't imagine the m8 would disappoint. I love rooting and playing with my phones but the One was so sweet I never got the itch. The Zoe feature for the camera is awesome too. My 2cents

My friend has a htc one max. Picture quality is better than this phone in low light, and the same in good lighting. BTW its 4 ultrapixel .

I'm in the same situation. I'm renewing my contract by end of April. I was already decided about the G2 but came the M8. I don't really use the camera on my phone that often, because I prefer shooting with my Olympus camera. The design of the M8 is just so sexy, but I'm drawn back to the G2 when thinking about the battery. So confused!

I would wait for the Note 4....The rumored specs are CRAZY!!
Or go with the Note 3....it's a GREAT phone.
Not to sure about the G2 or G3

I will never buy an LG phone again. 1 significant update in the 1.5 years for the LG OG is pathetic.
The Dev community has been great, but ASOP does not have conversation view and encryption does not work on LGOG CM
I purchased the M8 and have no regrets. I was concerned about the camera but the pictures have been a lot better then the LG OG in low light.
I would not purchase the G2.

The camera on the G2 sucks. It's great under good lighting conditions but fails at a lot of other aspects. It pretty much suffers from the same problems the LGOG suffered from. Great camera but awful software utilizing it. LG don't know how to tweak a camera to save their lives. Even the original M7 with its 4mp was better to use. At least the M8 has an extra sensor to improve it some more. For best camera I would always go with Galaxy devices, Samsung tweaks their cameras for optimum performance and do a great job at it.

I agree. The galaxy Cameras are great. Only problem I have with Galaxy devices are the power button fails. Went through 2 because of it. LGOG didn't have a terrible camera, but it wasn't the best either. I just don't believe 4MP would cut it if you wanted to crop or zoom at all. Don't know what HTC was thinking. He is correct though, if a camera is what you're going for, Samsung can usually deliver. G2 just has some neat functions and is good for daily use. One has speakers and clean UI with good built quality. Samsung has good cameras and (to me) pretty good build quality, even if it is plastic. Don't forget about the Nexus! Good build quality, more bang for buck, and all the AOSP support you will ever need!

Exactly. All three phones to me are good phones! They all have their advantages/disadvantages. Pretty much comes up to the user picking his/her poison.

For the second time, it's 4 ultrapixels lol.
And it zooms just as good if not better than this phone .
Also, my next phone will most likely not be LG unless they get there crap together. Will most likely go with HTCs newest phone next year if doesn't look like the m8(not my taste), as I deeply miss sense and the aluminum my evo shift has.

I hope you know ultrapixels is a made up gimmick word HTC came up with to make 4 megapixels sound awesome.. And yes you can zoom but doing so ruins the pictures quality because at the end of the day it is just 4 megapixels. Only reason they made up the word ultrapixels was because of the low light performance and to sell off 4mp.

My friend has a one max. It is four mega pixels, but the sensor brings in more information. We tested our cameras side by side, and his was the same as far a zooming in went. And low light was better.

Than either he has a very special HTC One or you two are not photoheads. I have the One on my account for my aunt and when I compared it with my Note 2 back then the Note 2 blew it away as far as cropping/zooming goes. You will start to see some distortion as you zoom/crop.. Did you do your test on a PC or from the phones display? It's funny because all the reviews have similar results. Idk if your fanboying to the max or really believe you got those results. Those sensor bring more information for lowlight performance they have nothing to do with zooming and cropping, just nice pictures at night. Heck even my sisters HTC EVO 4G LTE smokes the One..
If I can I'm picking the HTC one M8 over the LG G2. Build quality/speakers/Snapdragon 801 is enough for me.
The only LG product I would buy now would be a Nexus. I read all the horroe stories about updates of previous phones. I thought for sure because our flagship phone was based off a Nexus we would get timely updates. I want to wait and see what the Note 4 has to offer.
