I've got a Verizon G'NEX and I flashed DroidViscious's 4.1.1v1 rom with Franco's kernel about a month ago and everything was smooth sailing up until last week. I've been experiencing random instances of my screen freezing for about 10 seconds followed by my device rebooting. Upon startup right after a reboot I can enter my pattern lock and then it freezes immediately after and reboots (I can tell it's responsive during the unlocking of the pattern because of the haptic feedback). This will happen several times before I'm able to get back to the homescreen without it freezing.
I thought there was a problem with the rom since it was an older build Jelly Bean so I wiped the device and flashed the latest build of Pete's BuglessBeast using his default kernel hoping that would solve the problem. Unfortunately it didn't. I'm still experiencing these random freezes and reboots and the only way I can get it to boot without freezing is to pull the battery out for a couple of minutes and try again.
I'm wondering if the device is thinking it's getting too hot so it shuts down but I don't really have any way of knowing (it happens a lot when I'm in the car or when the phone is charging). Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is and how to resolve it? Or any ideas on how I can debug the problem myself? It's happening fairly often now when I need my phone the most.
The phone isn't even a year old so if relock the bootloader and return it to stock it should be covered under warranty still if there's a hardware issue.
Well, this problem seems to be exclusive to Jelly Bean. I reverted back to ICS and everything seems to be fine. Is anyone else having this problem with Jelly Bean roms?
yeah I get alot of random reboots and some freezes here and there. not sure what it is. but i have to gsm version gnex.
Tablet has had quite a few random reboots in the last few days.
It's happened when I closed all tabs in chrome. It has happened after uninstalling an app. It's happened after selecting to greenify google play services - and wiped all the greenify settings. It's happened at, as far as I can tell, random times and circumstances.
It is probably kernel related but this is a new tablet for me and I'm not too familiar with any custom roms or kernels on this device. Currently running xKat v4 with the included kernel.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have a fix recommendation or suggestions?
Thanks.
I got random reboots in the first couple of weeks when I first got the tablet ... Mainly when I unplugged off charge. I think I drained battery to 5% switched it off and charged it to 100% and never had any issues after that.
P.s this happened like a year ago so can't really remember much tbh - but I do know I didnt have to factory reset or anything drastic, it just fixed itself also bare in mind back then I was on stock JellyBean. Soz I can't help more.
Never had a reboot ever. Had tablet a year....still on jb rooted stock Rom.....

I'm also experiencing frequent and random reboots with my SM-P600 since the update to 4.4.2 (never had any reboots before):
First the screen starts flickering (this happens quite often using Google Chrome or playing youtube videos, but it occurs with other apps as well), then after a while the tablet suddenly gets unresponsive and reboots (sometime it reboots several times in a row).
I've already tried multiple factory resets and cache/davlik wipes, re-installed the 4.4.2 firmware using kies, but nothing helped so far.
Anyone any suggestions what else I can try?

Did you check the temperture?? download a cpu temp check and see if it's overheating. Also, is your tablet rooted??
Is anyone besides me still using this phone? I'm impatiently waiting for a 2015 Nexus or carrier neutral/Project Fi capable Motorola.
For the most part my phone works fine and does what I need it to do. I've been running v11 M12 since its release without any serious issues EXCEPT...
Lately I've noticed after a few days the phone will slow to a crawl. I'll open Running Apps and see a bunch of apps restarting at one time. Only a reboot will resolve the issue. I'm not running any obscure or obviously misbehaving apps and everything works fine for a few days. It doesn't appear to be 4G/WiMax related (turning it off doesn't resolve the issue).
I flashed the last milestone build, XNG3CAO1L7, without a factory reset and it seemed really buggy right away. I'm trying the latest NIGHTLY right now and it also seems a little buggy. I'd rather not factory reset, but I will if that is what it takes to resolve my issue.
Just curious about the status of anyone else running these builds. Thanks!
I haven't unlocked the boot loader nor added any custom ROM on my Pixel, but last few months it started to reboot at random times. I did a factory reset and it lasted a few weeks before doing it again. I've been slow to add my old apps back to see if it was an app, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
I thought about flashing a ROM, maybe it would help haha.
Any ideas?

Do you have Pokemon Go installed? I have the same problem when that game is installed.
I don't. I don't have any games installed right now to test things but it still reboots.
Having the same problem - started about 2 weeks ago as far as I can tell. Haven't done anything to the bootloader and isn't rooted - completely stock. Seems to happen when browsing web pages, or pages with links on such as within Twitter or Google app. Not every time. Phone just freezes for about 3 seconds and then reboots. WTF?
I believe this is an app problem so try to pay attention to what specifically you are doing when it happens. Like the guy above says, happens fairly frequently with Pokemon GO since one of their updates this year-ish. I personally haven't noticed it anywhere else.
Have tried uninstalling bitdefender ... see if that makes a difference
2 DAYS LATER - seems to have solved the problem!
Hey guys, i love my pixel 3 XL its been great but it has been randomly freezing and locking up, somtimes requiring a restart.
Other time i get the system UI crashed message and then i close it and it works again. Sometimes Chrome or the camera app locks up and crashes too.
Anybody experiencing this? Any ideas on a fix, maybe the next December OTA will fix it hopefully.
Thanks

I'm getting pretty fed up of factory resetting my phone, the phone started saying it's corrupt so I ended up reflashing it and that issue is now gone, but this freezing issue happens every now and then. You really think a factory reset is worth trying? Or could have something of gone wrong with the reflash?

I absolutely would try a factory reset if things are acting strange for no apparent reason.

If you flashed the factory image it's either a hardware or app issue. Have you tried using the phone for awhile with a minimum of apps? I'd give that a try I don't think a factory reset will do anything if you've already flashed the factory image.

try the flash-all.bat then when its complete go to stock recovery and format /data
are you using substratum?
Pixel 3 XL crashing
I have had the same problem. My system UI crashes since new, along with other apps and the phone becomes non-responsive. I thought it was just a new phone glitch that would be fixed with an update, no such luck... I need to do a hard reboot by holding the power button until it reboots. I bought a Pixel 2 XL in August and never had any problems like this. I finally contacted Google about the problems and they RMA'd it. I never root my phones before making sure they work correctly, so this one is and has been stock, unrooted.
My wife and I have the 64GB models in Black (mine), White (hers). She's on her 3rd replacement phone for what seems to be a similar issue.
Symptoms:
When using the fingerprint reader to unlock the phone, it may not unlock for 10+ tries.
The phone's battery drains quickly, within a couple hours of barely any use, her phone might be down to 60-70%
System_UI crashes
Some apps don't seem to load quickly (Like going into messages, you see the app container, and a new chat button, but no messages load for a minute). Or she's had a straight up black screen, and the app wouldn't load.
Takes minutes to call or hang up a call and often takes rebooting to close out the phone app.
It almost seems like something is running in the background that is utilizing the CPU and causing the lag/app/battery issues.
Troubleshooting:
Factory Reset
Wiping Dalvik Cache
Replacing the phone twice through Verizon. The first replacement had the same issues immediately. The 2nd phone showed the same issues immediately, and then went away for 3 weeks since the Dec. 5th Security update, but in the past few days has returned.
Booted in Safe Mode (everything seems to be working fine however extremely limited).
We've also checked the processes and no apps seem to be running that would make any sort of impact.
Running out of ideas

Since the December update, the freezing issues I was having have been significantly reduced, but it still freezes sometimes... I am hoping the January update coming in the next week will smooth out any remaining bugs.
Any of you using a different launcher?
I had this freezing and non-responsive issue. The google rep, replaced it, he determined it is some kind of hardware issue. My replacement didn't have this issue at all (November update). However, the lag/stuttering still persists though. I had replaced quiet a few pixel 3 XL, and i am just getting tired of it. For a $1K phone, we shouldn't get mediocre quality of phone.
So my wife had been removing applications in small groups to try to narrow it down. It seemed for a week or so that she was in the clear and everything was working. Then all of a sudden she got the January update and her phone is still having issues.
Slow responding finger print reader.
System UI crashes
Unable to answer phone calls despite numerous attempts.
It still seems like there is something that is running in the background that is just using the processing power.

Get gsam from the app store, if you don't have it. After awhile see what apps are using battery, app sucker in the app. Gsam is a battery monitor.

Sadly, gsam and accubattery don't show anything out of the norm app wise.
