[Q] Silence the Wireless Charging Notification? - LG Optimus G Pro

Oh, my phone is SO happy to announce wireless charging (Qi) has started.
Except sometimes there are people sleeping when I've put the phone on the charging pad and all that celebration really interrupts the sleep and endangers me and the phone alike.
Is there any way to either disable the notification, or silence it, or...Anything? to make it less jubilant about finding the charger?
Obviously, some engineers were raised by wolves, instead of properly trained British household staff.

Charger making noises?! What the hell

My Galaxy Nexus is the GSM version, international. The charger is for Europe, so... it's not like the version for US, I believe. Don't know how different it is (aside from the connectors), and since chances are the people that are gonna answer me are from the US... oh well...
When the charger is plugged in to the wall socket, but the phone is not plugged in, it buzzes... the charger emitts a very high pitch, constant noise... I can hear it very well during day, with my window open (not too much noise going on, except for a few birds and a few distant sirens). During night... it's worse than the Chinese drop, lol.
Don't get me wrong - it's not LOUD, but given it's very high pitch... you get the point. The noise I'm talking about can be compared to those Ultra Ring ringtones you probably used to play to annoy others as a child... if you're around the age of 20, like me, lol. It's not THAT loud, but... Oh well.
If I unplug the charger, the noise begins to dissapear... it begins to oscilate, faster & faster, until it vanishes completely.
The same noise is being emitted by the charger when the phone is charging, but the battery level is above 85% or so, and the screen is off. The same very high pitch noise is there, constant, but with very short interruptions. The noise stops entirely as soon as I turn on the screen and re-appears about two seconds after I lock the phone.

The charger is the original Samsung one, which outputs 1A at 5.0V, so it's not some cheap Chinese charger or anything... What the hell is wrong with it? Is your charger acting the same?
I'm sorry if all this sounds complete rubbish & ridiculous to you, but... I ain't crazy, lol.
It happens. And you are crazy. Look at how much wrote to tell us the air is leaking out your power supply.
butter and jelly please...
Your observation does 100% cover with mine. Might be a capacitor doing this, but it's annoying, I agree.

I tend to explain things very concise.
I could've said "charger buzzez ANYONE ELSE?!" and you would've answered "what the hell, lrn2english".

The Galaxy Note seems to be using the same charger... a friend of mine has it, and he also complains it's making that noise.
A capacitor, that's what I thought, too, but since I can't really know which one is responsible... It hardly seems like it's normal, I mean I had HTC 1A chargers and they were all quiet .
So... no one else's chargers doing this?!
I have a charger bought from amazon, it does this. Same one that comes with the gnex

And it is different than my version, since you have 110V systems or whatever it was :-? with 3 plug connectors.

My charger that came with the Gnex whines too. However I know capacitors don't whine...It's most likely one of the coils/transformer/inductors inside the charger that is making the noise. I noticed that once it's charging it goes away too.

Thats totally normal. Every charger does this. My Huawei charger, my notebook charger, my Gnex charger, my i9000 charger....etc

That's funny, cause no other charger I previously owned/use did this. HTC's 1A charger didn't do this, Motorola's 850mA charger didn't do this, Galaxy S2's 700mA charger (same as Galaxy S1) didn't do this...
I think it's because the charger is so small, yet so powerful, and since components are so tied together... Makes no sense, but I guess the technology used in chargers is not yet perfect haha.

WHINES - that's the term I was looking for. The charger whines, not buzzes, lol.
Coil noise... it actually makes sense, in the end. I didn't think it could make THAT much noise, though. Thank you .

It stops, yes, but once my phone's battery is past a certain level (say, 80% or so), the noise re-appears (not the exact same noise, but kind of), ONLY when the screen is off.
Just get a new charger, its defective for sure. Had one that did the same thing, it even got a little warm and it sounded like the "sound grenade" app. Pretty funny, plugged it into my friends room for a couple days and he couldnt figure out where the sound was coming from lol. Swapped it out with another one and no more high pitch annoying sound.

i think every samsung travel charger (the one included with the galaxy nexus, note, etc) make that high pitch noise
they are very cheap..just that..its of course annoing, but anyway it doesn't cause any problem to the phone

Once it reaches near full battery it'll lower down on the amperage, therefore it's like as if it isn't plugged in anymore.

As long as it's not harming my phone (which it's not), I'll keep it. Unless it starts to sound like lightnings, lol.
Can't swap it, so... I'm not gonna waste $5, haha.

Looks like less current = more noise; should've been the other way around, I guess, rofl.

Overheating when used as navigation?

I realize this is a worse case scenario, but i used my phone as navigation for the first time today and after maybe 20 minutes of having it on my dash, charging, listeing to bluetooth music while navigating it quit charging and the red notification light started blinking. I had power saver on with the screen at its lowest Automatic Brightness set. I know this is a stress test for it, but lots of other phones I've had didnt have a problem like this. I dont use it as navigation too often, but it cant not charge if i do use it that way.
Anyone elses do this too?

Mine starts to get pretty hot with the basics....browsing..youtube...charging while not using. It's not happening all the time but it gets frustrating. This is my second m8 ( I returned my first for heat issues) so it's happened on both non-rooted m8s.
I went back to the tmobile i bought it from, they hooked it up to a laptop and ran a few tests on it and declared it fine. They said to call corporate tmobile tomorrow (since they took the holiday off today) and tell them whats going on and they can put it in my notes to have the store replace my phone tomorrow.
Anyone else's phone do this? I ask because corporate gave the store the OK to exchange my phone, and if this is a problem with all M8's, theres no point to exchange it.
I am debating on getting a different phone all together. I flashed a few Roms.... Still having the heat issue.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So I was able to trade my phone for a new one at the store,...I'm now past the 14 day trial, so I hope this one is OK.
Are you guys sure it gets that hot? This is the same thing with the M7 and people were saying the same thing. It's thermal conductivity which you guys are feeling. Keep in mind just because your other phones don't feel as hot doesn't mean it's not the same temperature. Here's a video about what happens and how people confuse themselves. The M7 and M8 are different and the M8 should conduct more heat due to it being more metal.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqDbMEdLiCs
Although yes, it's hot to the touch, I'm talking about the battery getting so hot it quits charging , the Orange led blinks, and the battery starts going backwards even though it's plugged in to the car charger.
That's why I was making sure if it isn't merely it feels hot, and not actually being hot.
Are you using a 1.5 amp or something higher? I notice when I use large amp charger it'll get hotter than usual, but it does charge quicker.
It's a Verizon generic car charger, 1 amp. I'll be using the replacement phone tomorrow afternoon for navigation, I'll report back if it's any better with it.
I Just found a 2.4 amp Rocmetfish charger that gets good write ups at best buy. Wonder if that would help.....2.4a is a lot more than 1a.

Ha,...no,..it was on top of the dash, and here in S. Florida it was pretty hot (90F). But, with that said, I had the windows up, AC on. My previous phones (I'm a phone-a-holic), the S4, G2, Xperia ZL, and Note 3 all worked fine in the same situation. If its a common occurrence for this particular phone in general I'll deal with it. But if its unique to mine I will exchange it. But I'd rather not have to restore another phone if the new one will act the same way.
Maybe I should mention the phone has a clear hard case on it, too.
Hot day, phone in direct sunlight, phone in case, Bluetooth, screen, data, CPU probably running at max, it's all going to contribute. Obviously the phone couldn't keep up with the power requirements. Do you use an official HTC car charger?
I have no problems with charging using Navigation with Co-pilot, it does get warm, but so has any other phone when using Nav apps. I wouldn't use Google navigation as that doesn't have offline maps and will tax the phone even more.
Thanks for responding,...I had it in power saver mode and auto brightness at its lowest setting. I'm not even sure there is an official HTC car charger,...is there? Maybe it's a by product of being a metal case, but my past phones, the G2 the note 3 and Sony xperia zl never had this problem. If this replacement (I was able to swap for a new one at TMo yesterday)phone does it too then I'll deal with, I just didn't know if it's the phone as a whole, or my particular unit.

[Q] Heartrate monitor just turns on

Yesterday I took my Moto 360 off for most of the day and noticed that at times the green light underneath (the heart rate monitor) would turn on by itself. It seems that the heartrate app is monitoring my heart even when I never asked it to.
I know it is a bit "old fashioned" not to want to share my personal information with Google but is there a way to turn this "feature" off? So far I found a small bit of black electrical tape does the trick but do I have to carry around all my electronics in a Faraday cage just to maintain some semblance of privacy?
Just asking.
I like to put the watch on my mouse and give them 500 beats/min, and then suddenly switch to my elephant and it drops to 25 beats/min,
I'm pretty sure if they were paying attention an ambulance would have shown up by now

Charging

Does anyone have an issue trying to get this watch to charge? The indicator is so small and on the watch face I use, it doesn't even show up. Half the time I put it on the charger and it never charges. It's very frustrating.
I agree. I just got mine, and it takes a bit more effort to make sure that you get the tiny charging icon than it should.
Before I got my Huawei Watch, I had a Vidonn smart band with a similar little magnetic charging cable. It sometimes took a few tries and some wiggling to get it to "mate" and start charging. The difference was that it was a $30US smart band, and it only needed to be charged once a week.
This thing cost me an order of magnitude more (and that was a bargain), and it needs to be charged every night. I would expect a better solution. It is definitely a (minor) negative of this watch.
I also use a Sony Z2 and a cheap, clone magnetic charging dock. My nighttime ritual of trying to get magnetic chargers to make contact can be quite time-consuming, frustrating, and almost comical.
I think we need a new generation of batteries and charging technology.
I also have to wiggle the charger a bit for it to charge after it snaps into place. I use the Wear Charging Widget app to display a charge screen similar to the Moto 360 and LG Urbane. This way its more obvious.
