I rooted my G2 using ioroot several times with no problems. Here was my basic method (based off memory)
- Turn on USB Debugging
- Connect G2 to PC in Charge Only mode
- Accept RSA Key (If you haven't already)
- Run ioroot.bat
- Follow on screen instructions (newest version is a bit different and requires you to change to MTP mode then back to Charge Only)
- Let phone reboot as normal
- Check root via Root Checker or Android Terminal Emulator.
Then you should be rooted and good to go.

Thanks for your replies. :good:
i was able to finally achieve it. Here is what i did.
--first i flashed my phone with LG flashtool (TOT methods) using stock tot of ZVA version.
-- then upgraded the ZVA rom to ZVC
-- then rooted the phone using ioroot.
-- finally it was rooted.
I used a pervious version of ioroot before i posted this thread and that version created the faulty superuser directory which prevented the newer versions of ioroot to achieve the root.

this is what i think could happen if you use the old version of it once, and then using the correct version will not even root your phone.
In order to overcome this you need to reinstall your from stock so that the faulty superuser folder gets removed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
i followed this forum to start from stock and then root the phone using ioroot25r version as mentioned earlier.
i followed the second method (the tot one).
good luck.

root issue with Z1c

Hi guys, i just bought Z1 compact and i want to make a root. Is it possible to root the phone with EasyRootTool if i have option bootloader unlock allowed set to NO?
You can use newroot or towelroot or other method
You can have a root without unlocking bootloader. Bootloader unlocking is other thing. If you have unlocked bootloader you can flash custom kernels

I'm trying to root with EasyRootTools, but with no succes by now. Then I manually downloaded towelroot.apk and superSU zip file. I started towellroot.apk and this apk was successfully installed. SuperSu zip file is unzipped on sd card, and when i run supersu.apk from common folder i get error message 'cannot update su binaries'. How can I update this binaries?

You are at start point as you said. "No success by now"
You must have root, rest is for next steps.
I may be mistaken but EasyRoot is for KK 4.4.
What software do you have on your phone ?

I have KitKat 4.4.2 with upgrade 14.3.A.0.757. I try almost everything by now and I just can't believe that I have only z1c which can't be rooted. It must be that sometning i'm doing wrong.
I have been following few instructions with very little diffrences, but stil with no result. There is tutorial on techglen site for unlocked bootloader kitkat 4.4.2 with upgrade 14.3.A.0.757. This is one of tutorials that i followed:
Download the latest tr.apk from toweroot com, copy it to your phone and install it. Click on Make it rain. Once rooted, download update supersu zip from download chainfire eu supersu and extract superuser.apk from common folder. Install this on yoru phone. Run superuser.apk and then update binaries through it.

So I was a happy camper following the purpledrake rooting method for my LGG3 (D851) and then made the rookie mistake of upgrading to 10r. Now it seems my SuperSU doesnt work (no binaries found). Root Checker says Root access denied. Xposed Installer is not up to date as it doesn't have root permissions. How do I get out of this? Tried looking for downgrading from 10r, but couldnt find anything solid. Should I downgrade or wait to re-root 10r?

[Q] Help with rooting phone

I have an LG G3 on T-Mobile, running android 4.4.2 and my software version is D85110r. I downloaded and installed Stump Root and when I load the app it says "Device is already Rooted". Then I remember I had previously rooted the phone last summer when I got it. But I'm having issues with several apps not working because of root permission. So then I download and install SuperSU and when I run it, it gives me the message, "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it." It then says something about if you have android 4.3 you need to re-root your phone. How do I proceed? Do I need to un-root my phone and then re-root? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Anyone?
same here. I am not on 4.3 but still getting the same message. Fix?

You've flashed other root tools like Stump, etc.. right? It probably left some files behind after unrooting.. Factory reset and try that root tool again.. I've always used it and rooting was a breeze!:fingers-crossed::good: If you have updated to the latest firmware then maybe rooting isn't possible at the moment. Try downgrading to the previous version you had after you've factory resetted and used that root tool.. Good luck mate!

Problems after Downgrade

Hi peeps
i seem to be having problems after downgrading from lollipop to kitkat 4.4.2 and used kHz file uk 10a
i did the whole kdz method n flash tool and although it worked and i am back to stock i can no longer edit APN details and also i can not update software in anyway.
iI have tried hard reset to see if this fixes the issues but no it doesn't, my computer no longer sees my device and also the same in LG suite, device not found blah blah.
I should also say with all this i wanted to also get rid of Mcafee but i can also not root my device now from what i can see, i can enter download mode but i also find it doesn't work
If anyone can give me some heads up ideas to solve this problem that would be fantastic
What's "kHz file uk 10a"? Kilohertz?
Don't use any shady .kdz files. If you search for lg g3 kdz files you end up on an XDA website where everyone shares his official .kdz link. Flash one of those .kdzs for your device and if you're using any v10x kdz you can root it.

hi thanks for asking
I'm now running kitkat 4.4.2 after the downgrade and the version I'm running is V10a-234-20
I suggest to root it with Stump root
- Download Stump Root app and copy it to your device: Click here
- Open File Manager app and install the Apk file. Do not forget to check Unknown sources option under Settings> Security on your device.
- Having installed the app, open Stump Root from app drawer and tap the Grind button. Stump Root will greet you with a melody while the device is being rooted.
- Wait till Stump Root works its magic and allow the device to reboot when you are prompted to do so.
- When you phone boots up, install SuperSU app by Chainfire (download it in playstore)
- To verify root access on your device, download a root checker app and run it.
- Then download TWRP: Click Here
- Flash it with Flashify (download it in playstore)
- Flash any ROM you want to make your G3 like a new one

Help with Root

Guys i recently purchased Verizon VS985 model made in Korea. I am confused about rooting it.
1st thing is I am from India and its unlocked one... If I root it and flash any rom under Verizon Lg forum,,what would happen...do my phone got locked again?
Which method Should i use to root it and flash recovery and roms?
Rooting and flashing a ROM will not affect the unlock. Assuming the phone is running lollipop, use the first method in this thread...

If the script in the first method doesn't work for you, then use the second method. If using the second method, extract the contents of the New_LG_Root_v0.1_by_dig.zip (the link is at the bottom of the OP), and open a command prompt from within the extracted directory. Then run the posted commands in the OP from there. The easiest method of installing TWRP is w/ the TWRP Manager app...
