How do i get recovery for this on the latest kitkat update? Ive been looking everhwhere, and obviously not hard enough because i cant find it. Heck there may not even be a way yet.
I tried to use that freegee app. Fail.
Tried to use that app with the egyptian icon and i got recovery. But its for a different model g pro because its not letting me flash crap.
All i want is cm11. Help please. Thanks.
I used the two methods you described. Freegee used the cwm 6.0.4.7 version. Then switched to philz 6.41.6 always say no to recovery and su fix on exit. But cwm 6.0.4.7 worked fine.

I used this process but with the restore file from this post. Worked out very well for me.

Hey guys, I updated to 4.4.2 but I cant seem to get root back or recovery to stick. I had no problems with my N5.
Maybe its my procedure?
Updated to 4.4.2 using the latest CWM Touch
Flashed CWM Touch using Fastboot
Install the latest SuperSU zip in CWM Touch.
Restart and no Su binary is found.
When I try to restart into Recovery, I get the android with a red explanation point.
*Edit* I've tried regular CWM as well as TWRP but same issue
Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

And I got it working, ran CF-Autoroot and I'm back up and running

I have the same issue!!
Running this got it working for me
http://download.chainfire.eu/347/CF...uto-Root-flo-razor-nexus7.zip?retrieve_file=1
Not sure why it wont work manually installing but that'll do for now.
I can't even get my Nexus to boot into custom recovery after updating. Not looking forward to wiping my device all over again just to root it
I have seen it before where the device gets rooted but you have to manually download super su from the Google play store. Try grabbing super such to make sure that you are in fact rooted or get a root checker...
CF-auto-root is the way to go...
Have fun with 4.4.2

How were you able to make flashing custom roms work using freegee? I successfully rooted my Optimus G Pro and used freegee to install CWM recovery 6.0.4.7, but everytime I try to flash a custom rom - the phone would reboot after 10 -15 seconds. I followed and installed the custom roms accordingly to the instructions. Can you help me?

There are two different versions of Freegee on the Playstore. One is the free version and One is the paid version. I used the free version and when I open the app to install CWM recovery I don't see the "unlock" option, so I think the "unlock" option is only available in the paid version. Also, when I used the free version of Freegee to install CWM recovery, I can make and restore my nandroid backup. Maybe I need to buy the paid version of Freegee??
no u don't need paid.
also I didn't have the unlock option and I was able to flash.
I would say try twrp.
also are u trying just 1 ROM or have to tried a couple. maybe do that

I already tried 3 different roms and they all turned out the same. Keep rebooting after 10 - 15 seconds. I might have to give twarp a try. thanks
Just wondering, what software version is your phone?

Check in CWM recovery, before you flash any of the ROM's that LOKI support is enabled, I think you can find it under Advanced and it says something like "Toggle LOKI support"

do I enable Loki after the flash or before the flash? Because I enable loki in the advance option of CWM recovery after I flash a custom rom and the phone still reboots 10-15 seconds. I did all the normal wipes and stuff too. I'm thinking maybe its because of I'm the software version that I'm on which is E98010g.
He said "check before you flash any rom, that LOKI support is enabled"... You should carefully read instructions before you do anything or you will end with bricked device...

For some reason Rom manager cwm didn't work for me so I tried installing freegee from the play store and installing cwm from there.
Since freegee my cwm works fine and I was able to flash.
Have you given freegee a try ?

I'm having the same trouble with recovery. I was on SlimBean for several months and decided to flash a ROM from RadeonMaya, but it wouldn't boot, so I tried to restore my backup of Slim from CWM. It looked like it restored properly, but it wouldn't boot either. I finally reverted back to stock and rooted again, downloaded Freegee and tried to flash CWM. I booted into recovery to flash my Slim backup, but I got an "error loki-ifying the boot image". I tried Phil's recovery, but couldn't boot back into recovery from CWM
Since then, I have not been able to flash anything, and have reverted back to stock probably a dozen times. I've tried TWRP, but can't flash a version that works on 4.1.2. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I had fun flashing on this phone until these problems showed up, now I'm just going to try to like the stock ROM and hope we get an update to KitKat.
Just a quick question guys. What does freegee's "unlock" feature do? I ask because I don't get that option in Freegee either. Is it supposed to network unlock your phone or? Also, what is the need for the unlock?
can't flash a CWM recovery on my wife's E980 using Freegee....Mine is the white one and I had no loki issues with it...everytime you flsays:
"checking if loki-ifying is needed/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc. /by-name/boot needs lokifying. [-] Failed to find function to patch.
Error loki-ifying the boot image. "
yes I did use Freegee already and install CWM. When I booted it gave me this...I can't install any ROMS. yet my other G Pro (white) is fine and hasn't given me any issues. RIght now I'm stuck with it booting into clockwork by itself. And I would like to use TWRP but the version that comes with Freegee doesn't work right on the damn screen. If it's not bootlooping into Clockwork then it gets frozen at the LG screen with something about security crap. and the funny part is...I used Freegee both times.
EDIT: used LGFlashTool to bring it back..but she wants a custom ROM and every recovery I flash to it either
1. used this recovery. tried flashing using a CWM recovery that I used from Freegee http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552611
freezes at the LG screen with a SECURITY ERROR on the left corner of the screen (flashtools will fix)
2. When I do successfully flash a recovery using Freegee and I get it to boot into CWM it won't come back out of CWM it will boot automatically into it (LGflashtools will fix)
3. the freegee TWRP in won't work right with the touch screen.
Yes I saw that there are 2 topics similar to this, but they are G2's. Mine is an AT&T E980 that i'm having issues with.
I had exactly this same problem. I'm also on AT&T E980 and could not find a fix anywhere for this phone. I flashed back to stock so many times that I was ready to just get rid of it. What I finally noticed was that, if I flashed back to stock and took the update to E98010P, I could flash TWRP through FreeGee and the touch would work. I also used VooDoo OTA to preserve root through the update. I don't know if it was necessary, but it didn't cause me any problems and everything worked.
I have no idea why CWM stopped working and I could not use Phil's recovery either, but the whole experience has been maddening and I have never had so many problems with a phone before. Hope this helps.
i have the same annoying problem!
can someone help?
after the rom flash was done i've got the error so i immediately restored my backup

so...Root using the old firmware...voodoo OTA then update?...and then restore root and then Freegee should work fine with TWRP?
ive installed the twrp recovery and the flash completed , but the idiot checked the MD5 than skipped it than finished and on the bottom line just did NOTHING!
what the hell!
what is going on with this phone! so frustrating ...
Yeah, I went back to stock, rooted and installed FreeGee and Voodoo, then took the update and flashed TWRP thru FreeGee.

Ok I have used CWM from FreeGee and used the Carbon (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439911) ROM and it does not need lokifying for my AT&T E980. It loads fine. I'm looking for a way to fix the lokifying thing though as I can't flash too many ROMs, a lot need lokifying.
I've personally had no issues on my E980 using TWRP flashed by FreeGee, but you can always try the "hacked" TWRP provided by @madmack

I bought a used phone that already has TWRP 2.3.3.1 installed. I'm trying to update the rom in used, but first need to update TWRP to 2.7.0.0 (since I receive a set_metadata_recursive failure). I tried with goomanager, it says it updated recovery sucessfully, but when booting, still have 2.3.3.1. I tryed using dd, but still have the old version. Seems the only solution left is Odin, which require windows ? That I don't have.
Any other solution to update TWRP ?

There are many threads here asking the same question on rooting i.e. Freegee does not work.
I have personally tried 1ok, 10p and now 10g and freegee does not work. The phone roots fine with towel root but upon installing su and busybox, freegee does not play nice.
Does anyone have a real method besides freegee to install a recovery on the LG G Pro? Thanks a ton in advance.
OK, I solved it. Thanks.

Downloaded the CWM recovery for the OG Pro from the CWM website. Used flashify and that's it.
Hi,
do you mean this website?
https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Please tell me how did you install it?
From cm11-m3 to cm11-m12 I don't have had problems until the last google update comming for a week. After this update one of the Google services exhausted the phone battery in one day. Normally the battery holds for 4 days.
So I decided to switch to cm12 nightly and my problems occur. The recovery (CWM v6.0.4.7) that I used seems unable to install the new gapps for cm12 so I am looking around for a suitable recovery. I tried PhilZ Touch Recovery and I get boot loops. That means my phone boots only into the recovery. Nothing more...
Then I tried this recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-g-pro/orig-development/recovery-zip-twrp-2-8-1-0-lg-g-pro-e980-t2967855
Now my phone boots cm12 nightly and I am happy.
For my next step I need your information about to install CWM from the clockworkmod-website. Please can you help me?
Thanks in advance,
