[Q] Help Sprint SIII bricked?? Will not boot but ODIN can recognize it - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Same problem as the OP in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2022459 Sprint s3 flash pacman JB and google apps the went to reboot recovery ask to reflash su yes phone powered off and no coming back on Odin does detect it on com05 when I plug it in but anything I try to do just says waiting on connection, will not go into recovery or download modes. is there anything I can do to fix it? kies or anything? and I edited the updater scripts to be able to flash pacman because every rom I tried would fail with error 7............ please help

I got it fixed with file from another forum, while follow info from yet another forum, the file that worked for me was HomefixSprint_S3_L710.img the debrick_sph_l710.img would not work for me. I used win32diskimager and burned .img file to class 10 32gb card, stuck it in went in to download mode and used odin to write firmware file... Anyway back up any running..

It probably didn't work because of the version you were running.

Yep I'd bet your right, guessing the homefix img is from Version 4.3

Were you running 4.4.2? If so, go to the link below and it should solve your problem.

[Q] Cannot flash Stock Rom n5100

Hi,
I am trying to flash stock ROM on GT-n5100 with no success. I will first recap what I did:
1. Tried to flash N5100XXBMD1 EUR version from samsung-updates with odin and it failed with invalid volume size
2. Recovery was not working, I flashed CWM and recovery mode was still not working, only the gt-n5100 logo.
3. Flashed stock recovery, and recovery mode still not accesible, stuck in the same logo.
4. After flashing recovery, device booted in normal android. Tried to root using galaxy note 8.0 toolkit 1.1 and insecure boot method and now the device doesn't boot at all, it gets stuck in gt-n5100 logo.
5. I can enter download mode, but every stock firmware I try to flash fails with invalid volume size message on the tablet.
So, I think I may have a problem with the partitioning. I may have got broken somehow. Does someone have the pit file for N5100XXBMD1 ? or a 3 part stock firmware I can try to flash?
The pit file can be extracted from a working n5100 using Heimdall Suite in download mode. Maybe I can use a .pit file from another n5100 running N5100XXBMD1 ?
Also can you please tell if I'm doing something wrong? I double and triple checked all options in Odin.
Thank you.

Tried from a different PC and same problem from Odin "Invalid volume size".I can't seem to find the serial number on the device to use Kies Firmware Initialization, but as I recall, yesterday when Android booted, Kies said that initialization is not supported for this device.
Anyway, can anyone extract the pitfile from their n5100? Or give me a serial number that works in Kies?
Thank you.

I checked from Kies with the serial number that I got from the box and it says "GT-N5100 does not support initializing".
Can someone with a N5100 extract the .pit file from it's tablet? It would be very helpful. I can guide you through the process using Heimdall 1.3.1. It is done in download mode.
Also if anyone has another idea on how to revive this tablet I would really appreciate it.

For anyone that can help me with this .pit file, It will not harm your tablet in any way. The procedure does not write anything to your tablet, You just nee to install Heimdall Suite on your pc, put the tablet in download mode, connect it and the app has a buton that says Download .pit file.

I guess no one has a couple of minutes to extract a .pit file from it's N5100
Ok then. I'll look into the option of sending the tablet to Samsung. Too bad I can't get help here, but at least I tried.

Download the appropriate zip for your carrier from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 and then flash with odin. Keep in mind the person that hosted these hosted them on a website with incredibly slow download times. It often cuts out on you too, so make sure at the end of the download the file size is right. You may have gotten a bad download earlier.
If I have helped, slap that thanks button

I would recommend installing kies from samsung and trying to flash the firmware with them. That should fix it no matter what and make sure that you do have the right drivers installed. Also make sure you have the right version of odin running. Here is download link for kies on PC (I assume you have PC) http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201306/20130612104232657/KiesSetup.exe just install, plug your phone in and hopefully it recognizes it. Even if it doesn't, it might install some drivers that make odin work. Let me know if it fixes it

[SOLVED] Failed to Root SM-N900T with factory 4.4.2 Kit Kat Firmware

Last week I purchased a new T-Mobile Note 3 with 4.4.2 installed from factory. The Build Number is KOT49H.N900TUVUCNB4, I tried to root the phone using all the available CF-Root methods that I was able to find, I tried with the CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.tar.md5 file and with the CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5 file, I used all the possible versions of Odin 3.09, 3.07, 1.83 and 1.85. I will start the flashing process (I've done this more than 100 times) but it will stop after 3 bars (checked the attached file). Then I tried Odin the full Stock T-Mobile ROM N900TUVUCNB4_N900TTMBCNB4_N900TUVUCNB4_HOME.tar.md5 file same situation, it will flash Boot.img and Recovery.img but when it will start flashing system.img.ext4 it will fail with Write error.
If I try to start the phone I will get the following message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again", I tried with Kies but the device was never recognized.
Right now I am stuck with this message, what can I do?, thanks
You need to use international cf auto root

After searching a little bit, I found that and I did try to Odin the CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5 file, but it did not work, I had the same problem, am I using the right file?
Please help !!!! , I am stuck on the boot screen "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again", I cannot do anything else, I've tried almost all the suggestion on all forums nothing work, thanks
You have to install the 4.4.2 rom again via Odin to get it back working
Fixed the problem, I was running Odin from a Windows XP Virtual Machine in VMware Fusion within Mac OS X, that was the problem, I just did it from a standard PC running Windows 7 and everything is fine now
are you planning on custom rom?

You can use Heimdall for OSX.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
ok then forget root here is the link to twrp-custom recovery for our device flash this with odin then boot into recovery like normal volume up + home +power you will see the twrp menus now since ur phone is not booting if i read correctly then just wipe everything except internal storage and external sd once everything has been wiped you can flash the rom of your choice. if you ever want to go back to stock just reflash the nb4 image with odin but after the flash go into stock recovery and do a factory reset. note though im sure u know since dealing with root this will trip knox to 0x1
if i have helped please hit the thanks button. if you have any other issues let me know and i will do what i can to help

I have my T-Mobile S4 that I think is useless, however I would like to flash LineageOS to the device. When I turn on the device, it says that the Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. When I load up kies on my PC it doesn't detect my device. When going into boot mode it just says Downloading. Is there any way to fix my device?

What is the Odin error? Tried using different usb cables and usb ports?
If the phone was running the latest stock ROM, you could use Odin to flash TWRP and a custom ROM.

The latest T-Mobile firmware can be downloaded from here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s4/firmware/#SGH-M919
After downloading, unzip the file once using a unzip program such as 7zip.
You will need a Windows PC and Odin: https://odindownloader.com/download/odin3-v3-07
Instructions: https://odindownloader.com/tutorials/use-odin-downloader
It's been a very long time since I have flashed a Samsung s4. There's always a risk that something goes wrong. Best advice: be prepared to try again with different methods if the instructions don't work for your phone.
