I was under the impression that this model had a 4G Lte capable radio n it and the new cricket operates on AT&T bands. However I think all im getting is HSPAP when i check the about section. Is there anything I need to do to hop over to 4G or is it possible that I was sold a different model.? Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.

A friend wants this phone but he's on Telus in Canada. Telus has CDMA and is also 3G+. I understand the EVO is CDMA so I am wondering:
a) Will the phone work on Telus under the CDMA network 850/1900.
b) If so do we need to do something TO the EVO in order for this to work (such as some form of unlocking)
Any help is very appreciated!
Telus is GSM, so no. Their CDMA is not compatible with the EVO (different signal characteristics and different frequency).

HTC Evo CAN work on Telus!
HTC Evo working in Canada
I got an Evo in December and just moved to Canada for a job (Vancouver). I love this phone and want to get it working here with Telus. From what I've read, it looks like there is a way to get the EVO working here, but I can't find any specifics. Any tips?
So...I am headed back to the U.S. permanently and wondering if there is a way to flash the radio to make it work on the U.S. 3G networks of either ATT or T-Mobile.... if not, no biggy...ill sell it and by a new one back home.
Thanks for any info you can give.
As far as I am aware mate as long as the desire has the capability of connecting to USA Phone Bands then it should just be a case of flashing the international ROM

That's the point - an A8181 doesn't support the 3G bands for any US GSM network. You would need an A8183 which at least works on AT&T, or a Nexus One on T-Mobile. If CDMA is your bag, your HTC choices are essentially the Evo on Sprint, or the Incredible on Verizon.

Dave
guess you will be selling your desire then
I have a Verizon HTC One that has been flashed to cricket. I can call, text, and i get 3G data. i was wondering if i could get 4G on Crickets new gsm network. would the radios be compatible? i would love to be able to get 4g on this phone on cricket? is there a way to unlock the 1900 band for LTE with S-OFF?
i dont know if i can get MMS yet but ill try and update.
The lte radio on the Verizon m7 is locked to the 700mhz spectrum band 13. I'm pretty sure there isn't any way to get lte on another network with this device.
@disconnecktie is correct. Only mvno that you would get 4G is one that uses Verizon towers. I don't think cricket sources to Verizon.

I have a HTC One M8, t-mobile, rooted ,s-on , unlocked sim , new sim for 4g ...but I don't have 4g, only 2g, what should I do ... I live in europe albani
You should find out what frequency bands your carrier uses and match that up with what your phone has.
Chances are you have a phone that does not support your carriers 4g bands and its reverting back to the more basic 2 g stuff.

This may sound silly, but do you have the right APN? If you have, then may be reflash of the firmware can help.

That doesn't sound silly at all.
AT&T version supports the bands used by T-Mobile for LTE (4 and 17). Also supports all the bands used by T-Mobile for 3G, with the exception of the AWS band, which from what I'm hearing T-Mob has mostly migrated from AWS on 3G (so they can use the AWS band for LTE).
The band support is there, so either the SIM card is bad (does it work for 3G and LTE on another device) or wrong APN.
