Everytime I shut down my tablet or reboot I get a message saying that an 'sd card has been inserted' and get the option to 'unmount' or 'goto my files'. I can understand getting this message the first time after inserting a card, but not everytime.
Is this normal on this tablet as I haven't experienced it before. Everything seems to work ok though.

I've noticed this as well. Every time the device is restarted the SD card is mounted so it's not incorrect and it does swipe away. If it did it every time you woke up the device it would be a hardware problem since the SD shouldn't unmount while sleeping.

My Tab 3 also did this after it updated itself to kit kat, maybe it's just kit kat related.

Didn't happen on my s5 or note 2 that are both on kitkat. Also didn't see it on the tab pro I briefly had.

Yep it happens and no it shouldn't. Hope they do fix that. I am anal about what is on my notification pull down.
Yea it is annoying.
It is annoying for about 1 second and then I hit the X to clear all notifications and it never shows again until I reboot.
Just root and freeze the Samsung Apps with Root Uninstaller. I did that and that annoying SD Card message went away. :good:

Oh, also delete an annoying system app called "IndexService." It plagued my Note 3 and I deleted it on both of my Tabs S and my Note 3. It also eats up a lot of battery life.

You can always Odin the stock factory image. Did you freeze all of the bloatware?
I get it too. Maybe somebody like Wanam would be kind enough to add the ability to remove this in a xposed module? Promote buying a donate version a little in the process? muahah...

Frozen Samsung apps and removed third-party apps (like Bloomberg).
I get that message once in awhile when the tablet is asleep.....all Samsung tech advises I'd hard reset, and after the third time I refused as it doesn't fix anything.

Hello forum, I just joined today mainly for the issue I'm going through right now. I have a Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile that runs Froyo 2.2. Lately, I've been getting low storage space notifications and it was driving me nuts. So I went on Playstore and downloaded Data2sd and to be honest, I really didn't know what I was doing. I launched the app, granted the superuser permission, and I created a 300mb partition onto my sd card. Then I selected data on the menu option and started selecting all the movable directories to move into my sd card. Everything seemed fine since I was keep getting the "moving succeeded" message, only until I rebooted my phone. That's where my problem is. I noticed my wallpaper was gone and the android launcher was keep crashing, not letting me do ANYTHING at all. I'm so frustrated and I really dont know what went wrong. Please help! I don't wanna reset my phone because I dont want to lose all of my important contacts! I apologize in advance if this has a simple solution, I'm still kinda a noob at modding android phones. Thanks.

Nevermind, i got it fixed! all i did was somehow manage to open my browser and download home++ beta launcher. Through that, i was able to back up my contacts and whatever I needed, and did a factory reset. That fixed the problem! now I've found a better app than data2sd and that is links2sd. That works like a charm thanks for taking your time to help

So I already had songs, pictures, etc on my Nexus 4, now decided to install Airdroid.
The app didn't work as I wanted it but anyway, I opened my Gallery on the Nexus 4 to find out that all my images/photos are gone. The next thing I do is connecting Nexus 4 to my laptop. All folders/files are gone ?! Or maybe they only got moved?
wtf ?!
That's weird. I have air droid and just used it last night. Works great for me.. I don't think stuff can move by themselves after disconnecting. Maybe try a media scanner app. Rescans SD and organizes stuff.. I have this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clypher.mediascanner

nope re-scanning didn't work... I just wonder what else airdroid could delete... pretty much my whole "internal space" is gone (the space that shows when u connect the nexus to your windows 7)
Flash a Google stock image to your phone.
why would flashing a new OS bring back my old data ?
Sorry I don't know then.. That's a new one for me. Never had that happen..

It may make your storage usable again. But if you try that your old data will be gone.
Well the storage is usable...its just that all my old data is gone. So there is no need for doing that? Atleast aslong as airdroid didn't delete anything else :S
Also: since the only thing i did to m nexus 4 so far was rooting/unlocking, what would be the best way to start from a fresh/new rooted OS?
Did u unlock ur device after having pics/media stored on the SD card?

Also happened to me, but it happened because the folder 'storage' was removed of the SD card when it was hooked on to the computer.
Just one folder removed, and your entire sd card is empty... So watch out!

Ahh alright, so I don't have to worry about Airdroid deleting random files.
One more question: I feel like since I unlocked/installed airdroid, Windows 7 asks me if I rly wan't to transfer a file because the device might not be able to open it ? I didn't get that message before ?

Hello. For the past 2 day's my phone has been REALLY slow not to mention laggy as hell. It all started when I lend my sd card to a friend overnight so he can watch man of steel along with other movies I had on it. Here is the thing. He's phone is a MESS. He has the s2 and that thing turns off on him ALL the time. Freezes. So now my galaxy note 2 is actin stupid when I download a large game (around 230mb) it begins to lag. The screen will not respond for like 5 seconds then it touches everywhere I did. Ive tried reseting my phone nothing. Tried a back up/dfferent rom. No dice.
What can be possibly wrong all these market "anti virus" scanners are all just imitation

Does the phone to back to normal with the SD card out?
You could try copying your all of your SD card to your computer, deleting all of the files on it, formatting the SD card, and copying back what you need.
Also, I've found my phone used to lag when I racked up too many text messages. I currently use Handcent and have it set to keep only a certain amount per thread...I routinely go through all my threads and delete conversations with people I hardly text as well.
Hope this helps!
Thanks. But its acting like this even without the sd card the one that I use for movies is an extra 32gb this one I have is mine mine dont let no one borrow it. I don't text a lot.

In addition to wiping cache and dalvik cache, do a "fix permissions" under advanced in recovery.
If that doesn't work - I would recommend in recovery that you mount /system and then format system. Then immediately flash a rom or a backup made before the trouble started...

Your fix is simple. Remove SD card. Click the missing app. It brings u to play store. Download app. Open it up. Close app reboot phone. Open app. It should be ok. Now shut phone off. Install SD card. Turn on and format SD card. Reboot and u are fixed

I had the same exact issue. Check out my thread for more deets > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552458
I will tell you that once I took out my 64GB UHS-1 Micro SD (It was read only and was in the process of RMA), all the apps to sd issues disappeared and no more gray icons. I don't know why, I don't know how, but for some reason it seems some apps will auto install to the sd card. Still haven't found any reason why that would happen. So if your card is bad or faulty, it will cause problems with Note 3.
Hi all
I'm just wondering if there's anything in 4.4 that is NOT as good as 4.3? Any limitations or disadvantages you can think of? (I've read something to do with the external SD function...???)

Are you saying you cannot write to the SD card with apps like OfficeSuite Pro or the camera or just that the system will not install and run programs from the SD card?
If an application is designed to save its files to the card in a folder created by said application, then yes. If the application cannot create a folder on the card, then no. That is a quick explanation.

I bet they fix that one quick.
BTW - When I went to KitKat on some of my other tabs all I had to do was reinstall the same apps (same versions) and they worked fine. The reinstall did something that made them work fine. Out of several hundred apps it was only a handful.

Is this only for 10.1 2014 with KK? Because I dont think this is KK related as Chromecast works for my Note 3 with SinLess KK ROM.
can someone quickly elaborate about extSD card issue
I've been able to grab small tid bits here and there.
does that mean that I can't store data, or that apps that for example fpse use ext sd for rom storage will no longer be able to use extSd ??
Sd card will work pretty much like on pre-Android, pre-Symbian phones.
Only good for media files, which must be stored via a pc, not say, loaded with the tablet from a nas.
Probably pics and vids taken with the Note can be saved on the card.
They force all more sophisticated users to root. Others, who enjoy being submitted to rules, even silly ones, and miss Adolf, are already using iOS and WP anyway.
Important Change

Hey glad I caught this thread on time. So since you're on kitkat, you are unable to turn your device around 180 degrees. And that pretty much renders all cases useless for the typing position UNLESS you buy Samsung's pricey case that can fold without having you turn the device.

Not sure where you got that info. I'm on KitKat and turning the device works just as it did before the upgrade. I can put the power cord at the top if I need to. There's nothing I tried that doesn't work with the Note upside down.
