Ok google everywhere not giving me that option to turn it on - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I have the latest google search and google play services. Running cleanrom 3.5. Earlier in the week i tried the unlockgoogle method but no result. Tried the most recent idea of "ok google everywhere" and tried "okay google everywhere", same result, only option I get is within google search app. Have audio history turned on.

Did you change the voice to US English?
Mine wouldn't work with UK English, but did when changed to US.
Even got it working on my stock 4.4 Xperia Z.

I got it to work by searching the term in Google now launcher " Ok Google everywhere". Then settings then Google hotword detection then enable everything there.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Tried all of that, same result. Even froze nova launcher. No luck.

Can't use nova launcher you have to use Google now

I did a full wipe and reinstall of cleanrom, updated everything in google play before doing anything else, and now it appears. Will see if restore of apps makes it disappear again.

I have the option to enable it, but when I get to the setup screen where you're supposed to say "OK Google" 3x, nothing happens. Also, I've realized that "OK Google" doesn't even work within Google Now. It just doesn't register that I've said anything. But if I click the mic icon, I can use the voice search. It's just the hotword detection that doesn't work at all. I've got a VZW Note 3, rooted stock ROM, stock recovery.
Just wondering if anyone else with a Note 3 is having the same issue. If it's device related, I can stop trying until the next official update from VZW. Which will probably be just under 3 years from now

Google pinyin

Google Play Store is asking me to update an app called Google Pinyin. It is an input method (apparently primarily for Chinese characters) but I can't figure out why it is on my Nexus 7. Anyone familiar with it? Could it be connected to 7Note?

Pinyin is mainly used in China, I think for EN/EU users, you don't have to update this, and you could even uninstall update/disable it.
its a ASUS thing, they someone managed to put this IME on a supposedly clean Nexus rom
it got under the radar because it is blessed by google
disable it
I just uninstalled updates and disabled it. It is of no use to me for I don't speak Chinese.
Did you guys install the PDANet Drivers or use the Google Nexus 7 ToolKit v1.1 to root and/or unlock? My Nexus 7 did not have Pinyin on it until I tried to root it tonight and it didn't show up until I installed the PDANet Drivers and the Google Nexus 7 Toolkit.
Hooray for Titanium Backup! Friendly bloatware remover! :]
I had that and a Korean keyboard pre-installed.. both are long gone...
This randomly downloaded itself onto my nexus 7 this morning - understock there is no way to uninstall it - thank god for root.
You did nt happen to install the London olympic app did you? That's when I noticed it was there

It was one of the first apps I uninstalled as soon as I had root!

I doubt it, i didn't install the olympic app and i had korean keyboard and pinyin.
I also had a Japanese IME, began with an "i" but I can't remember the name.
Uninstalled all 3 via Titanium Backup.
I am not rooted and have not installed any Olympic apps. I did install 7Note with Mezac. Did not notice Pinyin until after that thus my reason for asking if they were connected. In all fairness, however, I was not looking for Pinyin and wouldn't have noticed it if it hadn't started asking to be updated. For all I know, it could have come out of the box with Pinyin installed as some have suggested. I have disabled it with no adverse affects thus far.

Pinyin!?
Got both NBC "London Olympics" apps and presto, there was the Pinyin app.
Bah!
Its just showing up for everyone yesterday at around the time you downloaded any app from the app store, it just threw that update in there, no matter what you installed. I am not rooted and cant get rid of it. Uninstalling the update erases it from the app drawer, but as soon as i download an app or update from Play, its back....
Like I mentioned on the thread in the QA forum , it's to save Google from having to manage localised versions of firmware images. You know, the world doesn't revolve around English as the only language. And no, Asus didn't put Pinyin there, Google did, because the app is by Google themselves. So stop getting all emo and xenophobic.
I actually use Google Pinyin myself, so I'm actually glad it's there by default.
It came on mine stock. It was there before I installed anything.Mine is korean however.

Chinese, Japanese and Korean IME ALL came with the stock ROM.
I actually have other issues, i don't mind google puts useless ime in the rom, but it removes/hides my books, magazines, movies when detecting my location (outside of usa)... sign...

HELP! Google Now has disappeared after upgrading to 4.2

I had Google Now working on my galaxy nexus 4.1.2 just fine for a few months until a couple of days ago when i decided to upgrade to 4.2. Now the google voice search is still there and i tried re-installing it but Google Now is not there anymore, and there is no option in settings that mentions enabling/activating google now.
My phone was always rooted, and i thought it may have something to do with the fact that my bootloader was unlocked, so i relocked it
anyone know whats going on?
thanks

Look up Google search in the play store. Does it show as installed? If not, download and install.

The Google Now settings are hidden on the search screen, lower right hand corner. I had this happen when I turned off Google now on an old device I was messing with, and it turned off on my active devices also. For some reason OS updates have triggered this from time to time also.

Google Now no longer recognizing certain command phrases?

Is anyone else no longer able to set timers or alarms using google Now?
For example if I say...
"Set a timer for 10 minutes"
"wake me up in a hour"
"Set a alarm for 10:30 am"
Google Now will search the internet for that phase. Before it would actually set a alarm in the clock application. The clock application also is no longer listed in the "searchable applications" list in google now.
I was missing ALL voice commands untill I reinstalled the Google Search application, but it only re-enabled most of them.
Is there a way I can get back the missing voice commands without doing a device reset?
It's working perfectly fine for me. Maybe try uninstalling and then re downloading it.

What are all of the applications tied to google now? Cause I already tried clearing the cache and reinstalling the "google search" application.
I dunno. I'm sure you can find that info online somewhere, but I was able to set an alarm, open calculator and play a song via Now. Are you sure you've got the correct version of gapps installed?

I believe so, all apps are up to date in the play store. I tried doing a factory reset and the problem persists. So it's either a kernel issue or it is something on Google's end. Is it possible for stuff to go wrong in the kernel on a non-rooted device?
I am on the stock at&t jelly bean rom. By the way.
Naw, nothing should really ever "break" on the stock image. I dunno what to tell ya unless it's something to do with the android version. Did the things you're asking about ever work?

Xperia S mic not working.

"internal application error" in recorder. I am on 6.2.b.0.200.
Similarly, Google now also doesn't work.

I see your problem in the thread I open, have you try a fresh install? or a reboot? that doesnt happen at all for me
Ive got the same issue, although the mic does work in calls luckily. What firmware was you using and what device? Im using the world version that was posted in the big thread earlier (.200) on an Xperia S from the UK that was previously run on T-Mobile ICS f/w.
I dont really wanna try a reinstall because i spent hours setting the phone up from clean again :/ But there's a little hope, when i first boot the phone, google now does recognise me once, or the recording app does work a few times, but after that it doesnt at all until reboot. I can't tell if its the keyboard interfering or some service that runs the mic stopping, or maybe the google now app crashing it since the recording small app seems to work more than once. Maybe it's an 3rd party app interfering if it's only us getting the error?
I tried soft reset. It worked for a while, now not working again.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
So after a Google search I've found out why this is happening, it's because the latest Google now update messes up the Mic, so if you force close the Google search app or uninstall its updates for the time be in it will work

I deactivated com.google.android.voicesearch in settings-apps.

**Figured out, I think**Anyone get the new Google Search?

I installed the new Google Search and the new Play Services in the hopes of getting the new always on OK GOOGLE to work, but so far no go. I know it has to be turned on from Googles side, but has anyone have it not work, then start working?
EDIT-I think I figured out how to make it work:
For those who dont have it activated yet, I think I figured out how to turn it on.
Google search>menu>Settings>Voice>OK Google detection>Menu button>Help & Feedback>scroll down and hit Audio History>Touch the plus next to See Your Audio History. At this point you should have to sign in to Google to turn on Audio History. Go back in to settings>voice and make sure Audio History is on.
After I did this the options appeared in OK Google Detection to use the hotword OK GOOGLE from any screen and from lock screen.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SEARCH 3.5.15 AND PLAY SERVICES 5.0 FOR THIS TO WORK
There's an Xposed module called Ok Google for 3rd party activities that will allow you to call out Ok Google from the home screens.

Yeah, I only enabled it to test and it worked while I was typing the last post. I'm on viper rom btw if that makes a difference.
Wow,... Your in the minority, from what I've read. It hasn't been turned on yet for my account by Google. Search 3.5.15 came out today and I was hoping, but not yet. I still don't have the options yet in my settings.
Have to click the search bar first, but works for me.(in u.s.a. with stock launcher)

There's a new Google search that has to be turned on by Google for it to work correctly. But after they do you can just say OK Google, even in a game, and it will work. But Google is slow so far activating it to everyone.

Then it doesn't work as I am explaining it. Once Google turns it on for your account you can just say OK Google, anywhere including the lock screen and screen off while charging, and have it work. No need to touch anything.
Basically just like the Moto X.
I forgot to mention that my search was updated yesterday to 3.5.15, newer than what came out last week with the new always on search, but it still hasnt been turned on by Google for me.

I haven't been to these forums in a while (been bogged down with life crap), but I'm glad I came here today! This is the first I'm hearing about this. I've been envious of this feature ever since I read about the Moto X.
The options were there on my HTC One, and it's working. Now I just have to be careful not to talk about anything the NSA might be interested in! Ha ha.
