Need vodap001 radio - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

to make a long story short, whilst converting my M8 to GPE I forgot to remove the radio img...
By any chance would anyone have the VODAP001 radio or a radio thats compatible with it? I need it urgently as I currently have no reception which is obviously not a good thing...
UPDATE
I've got it working... but with some sort of magic aha.

Okay this is really weird... I just flashed a random Telstra radio from the Australia M8 thread and on first boot up it didn't work still...
So I put it into fastboot again to try another radio, the radio for some strange reason failed to work so I replaced the radio img in the Telstra.zip that's on my computer with the radio I wanted to flash so I can flash it in recovery.
In order to push the newly created zip to my phone, I needed to reboot it back into ADB mode which I did and for some strange reason, reception is working!
It sucks that I can't give an exact solution but here's the information I have on my phone after the reception started working:
CID - 11111111
RADIO - 1.14.2133156.UA13G
If anyone wants additional info I can easily give on request but those (I think) are the relevant factors.

Those are the full OTA .zip files, can just extract the radio.img from it and go on.

I downloaded it as well to make sure everything is good with the .zip files. Make sure it open it with a proper zip program, 7zip or winrar or something. I see that it doesn't want to extract with the windows explorer as default.

Vodafone UK? What was the version number you were on if you can remember...? 1.54.161.5 / 10 ? Or earlier version?

I'm actually from Voda Australia but due to prior experience I think a Vodafone UK radio would work as the CID number is exactly the same...
I think it's 1.54 from memory as well...

[Q] Radio download

Hi, so I've been trying to get the right radio for me and my friend with DHD (I have Inspire 4G and do not get any 3G signal) has this radio: 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M. I found a download link on this site ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9891546&postcount=1 but I am unable to flash it. I noticed the ZIP file does not contain "android-info.txt" file. I know how to flash a radio with bootloader and I was successful in flashing other radios but it seems that it cannot be flashed without the file or the file itself is corrupted.
So does anyone know how to flash it or does anybody have the ZIP file with android-info.txt ? thanks a lot people!
edit: oh and... the downloaded file does not pass the checksum test.
edit2: just wondering. there are three antennas on DHD. One for GPS (under flashlight cover), one at sim cover and one at battery cover. which one of these last two is for 3G signals? contacts might be bad or damaged

To flash radio from that site you need ENG S-OFF which WILL MESS YOUR DEVICE. Check this thread (Inspire 4G and DHD radios are compatible as they are the same phone with different frequencies) to get a PD98IMG folder or use the guide in my signature to get an empty one:

since I have been successful in flashing radios from that site I guess I already have ENG S-OFF (although I don't know how to determine it, I know I did some S-OFF). The thing is, I think I need the exact radio version I posted above since it should finally give me 3G. I am located in Central Europe and I believe those radios are mainly for USA, are they not? Also,
Q. Why not just go to the Desire HD thread for Radio and RIL files?
A. Because we own an Inspire. While these phones are almost identical, the software used on each is NOT always compatible. This includes Radio images.

S-OFF is not ENG S-OFF...so if you have ENG S-OFF in the bootloader you will see ACE PVT ENG S-OFF....
From the thread I linked you, you have compatible radios for DHD and Inspire...many of the radios are compatible thou not all of them have been tested. I have used many DHD radios in my Inspire and had no issues at all.

I figured as much.
since I have ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL in my bootloader, I don't understand HOW could I flash that radio if I need to be ENG S-OFF in order to do so... or does it just seem to be flashed and in fact it is not?

Have you read the thread I linked you? there is the key....you have to flash radios as PD98IMG.zip files in the bootloader. That is the safest way, anyway.

I always download the ZIP package, rename to PD98IMG.zip, copy it to my SD card, reboot to bootloader, flash the radio, reboot the phone. Never did it different. And gave me error only once, only when the radio I need does not have android-something.txt file in the package.
I just need those packages with correct radio version and according RIL. and I'd like to know which antenna is which. so if anybody has or knows, please, do tell me.

is there anything specific you want me to read outloud? there is NOT the correct version I need (well there is, but it is just incomplete). I know how to flash it, I know there are "slight differences" between inspire 4g and DHD (according to the topic) but I do not have the correct package so I could rename it and flash it. I tried. Oh yes I tried. Did not work. Wouldnt flash. So I just need a link to the correct version. If you don't have it, please, leave it.
MD5 is not the same in the post as on the file and there is one file less in the package than in other packages of different radios.
BTW, I am not asking you to do my work, I am just asking if anyone has it. I tried to google it, all of the links I have found are dead (or making me download some youtube downloader). Oh and I am reading.
you know what? somebody lock this thread, please... I think I want to figure this one out myself. Even if it means not having 3G in my phone. I am not going to let glevitan make fun of me. dunno who's not reading.

[Q] Firmware semi-brick

Hello, recently I updated my friend's HOX firmware to "x.xx.161.x - Vodafone UK" since CID matches with Vodafone Spain [VODAP304]. Now, I have newer firmware, but the problem is that the Wifi and GSM radio part doesn't work. HOX boots fine and also in recovery. Now I tried with EURO RUU, but since CID doesn't match with the Vodafone one, I can't flash it.
My HBOOT version is 1.36.0000, Radio 5.1204.164D.30 and I have unlocked via HTCDev, what I can do it to revive radio part?
Run the right ruu is an option
The problem is that isn't available any RUU for Vodafone Spain (or I don't found any)
Do you know fastboot commands
Fastboot getvar version-main
Fastboot oem readcid
For the proper info, with that we can find or a ruu or maybe a stock nandroid backup !
version-main: 3.14.161.27
oem readcid:
(bootloader) DEBUG: cid: VODAP304
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s
thanks for your interest
Oke i have the solution !
Go to this thread and check the last 2 pages, it has the download for the nandroid backup matching your CID and MAIN version. Its the vodap 3.14.161 nandroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Restore this nandroid backup on the phone and flash back the stock recovery
http://db.tt/C1SWP2ZJ
When all this works you have a stock phone, the only thing you can't change is the unlocked bootloader. The only thing you can do about that is to relock the bootloader .... this is the closest you will get to stock
Not worked Wifi/GSM part doesn't working (wifi shows "Error" and phone doesn't detect the SIM)
Try getril from the playstore, see what's come up ! Don't know anything else .... yet. At least you are on stock software.....

Maybe Vodafone UK uses CDMA and this is the reason for the Wifi isn't working? I haven't more ideas, all started with "x.xx.161.x - Vodafone UK (United Kingdom)" in this thread, since CID matches with Vodafone ES, I flashed this firmware with this tool
Well as far as i can recall from the old HTC desire days .... CDMA has a slight different piece of hardware, you can't turn over a CDMA phone with adjusting software ! They also had different software numbers back in the day
I'm at the point that i am almost want to say : flash the damn firmware (1.36 hboot) again ! And redownload the firmware again. What if it is a small corrupted download !
Then, how the Firmware can cause all antennas stop working? Someone has any ideas?

Just do what MR Hoffs has already suggested. The firmware might have been corrupted causing your radios to stop working or not to be controlled. It's like when you flash a corrupted rom and you can't boot, or it crashes and freezes.

yea well depends... a 401 firmware did previously work for you? The new 401 firmware should then work too.
Looking at my error code list i see an error 23 which is a zip error and another close number which is also a close number and also a zip error.
I suppose there was an issue with the firmware zip you flashed. Did you verify the MD5 hash before you flashed it?
It might have been damaged during download and the zip wasn't actually flashed?
I suggest you choose the ZIP flash method and manually reflash it, then post the console window content here. It will tell me which images got flashed and what error occured (maybe). If there was no error, it means the new radio probably just doesnt work for you or the ROM and Carrier combination or something like that....
anyhow... without knowing exactly what happened, it can not be diagnosed properly.

thanks. the 2.22.401 did work for me but the new 3.x.401 update after i flashed, caused (maybe) the no signal problem. i already dealed with the error 23 problem but unfortunately, as i mentioned, the signal was gone. all the method i used for flashing was fastboot. i already tried to revert to the stock rom and stock recovery that matched the original cid. what i noticed was the imei was unknown. tried to fix it but i guessed i just bricked my phone. now it is not turning on . i don't know if there is another way to unbrick it other than using jtag.

No mate. All i know is it contains a fix for croatia. Its been rolled out to other countries too though, so i made FUU's and ZIP's because i guess there are more fixes in there. Just don't know what yet.
This was a totally blind update. Tested, yes, but not taken apart and looked at like i usually do. I have NO clue whats inside. Only thing i checked is Recovery and whether or not it was updated. Yes it was.
Anyhow, HTC often doesn't do much more like build date changes. Sometimes, hboots or recoveries get pushed out that are just newer, but not changed.
They have a streamlined building process and if they update one major thing, they often just automatically build a RUU or OTA Firmware and all files get new build date stamps. At least that is what i have seen occasionally in the past. Files that are 100% identical in hex view except the file header that contains the creation date.

Im kind of new to all this and my delema is this,
My Phone:
HTC M8 ATT version
sim unlocked
s-off
rooted
super CID 11111111
skydragon rom

Im now using a T-Mo-us sim and no matter what radio version for t-mo i flash im getting poor reception. Does it pay for me to totally transform this phone in to a t-mo m8? Will i lose s-off? Do i have to re lock my boot loader? Will this help my reception issues? If i do load a t-mo rom on the phone what are the exact steps? Can i keep root and s-off?
I know the radio flash is taking because i can see the changes in fast boot. Please advise. Thanks.
Sorry everyone, i realize i may have posted this in the wrong area. Could it be moved? Thanks again.

Thanks.

Wrong section, but I can help. My m8 is an AT&T branded m8, but after converting it to T-Mobile software (changing mid and cid then flashing tmo ruu) I got better reception and all the bands for T-Mobile enabled. It also enables Wi-Fi calling and texting doing the conversion as well.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581 to change mid to T-mobile. Then just run an ruu.exe. I used the one from the link below. Be sure you have nothing else that talks to the phone or it will hang (HTC sync, etc)
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/02/11/htc-posts-full-1-5gb-ruu-t-mobile-one-m8-lollipop-upgrade/
so i also have to change the cid, do i need to relock the boot loader or anything?

No need to re-lock if you are s-off like you said. You are supercid, so you are okay to just keep it 111111
i keep getting the error "dd" is not a command

What adb tools do you have, and are you getting # prompt before pasting the echo command? You are copy and pasting the command exactly as Scotty showed for the t-mobile mid, right?
Alright im now up to the part of the RRU install but the all the installer does is get to the point where i have to accept the user agreement and then i hit ok, and next then it just crashes and its gone.

Are you right clicking and running as admin? Be sure nothing but ruu utility can talk to the phone, HTC sync, eclipse, etc have to be uninstalled completely.
Yes, and i even tried it on 3 other win7 computers. I think its beat me. I read some stuff online about c+++ some sh__ and none of that helped me. Its a bust at this point.

You did change the mid successfully? In fastboot mode, you fastboot getvar mid and see if it changed to the T-Mobile mid

You can try the zip version. Put it on the root of your external SD card and reboot to your bootloader.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1xmkf1jgd06jqdp/RUU-4.20.531.4-rom.zip?dl=0
Rename: 0P6BIMG.zip for bootloader to recognize it.
---------- Post added at 10:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:44 PM ----------
If the bootloader doesn't recognize it, just do the below commands:
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Once phone goes into ruu mode, issue the below command:
Fastboot flash zip 0P6BIMG.zip
Some ruu files will error, just issue the command again. If you get an error 155, then you need to relock the bootloader.
ill try it, that has the t-mo radios and everything?

Yes, all ruu files are factory images. Be sure to backup anything on the internal SD card. Most ruu zips will wipe the phone completely. Even the files on the internal SD
Ok, rad, ill dl this, load it up and see whats what, thanks so much dude.
WOW! It seems to be working via the boot loader!

HTC 10 unable to upgrade to Oreo in anyway

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me solve my issue. I spend the entire evening try to do it, reading through the post on this forum but I couldn't figure out a solution.
So basically I bought an HTC 10 unlocked in Ireland, and I currently have Android 7 , no mods or anything on it.
I know there was an OTA update available, but every time I check for software updates I get the error Can't update software. There was an unexpected error and the file system may be corrupted.
I tried then to do a manual update. I download the file (ruu I think) from HTC website and I rebooted the device in download mode and tryed to install. I got error 130
to perform a manual update via PC but it didn't work, I received a model ID error (Model ID error)
I did a factory reset and tried OTA again with no luck.
I am looking for some pratical advice, Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Vincent

Hi Mr Hofs ,
OS-2.41.771.3
I should find an RUU with the same line and try the procedure again?
Yes one with the same line or a higher one, or a matching stock backup.
When you succeed to upgrade and tinker again with the device it's wise to create a pure stock backup for the future.

As been explained you need one with your OS number. Not some random firmware. 2.48.841 doesn't come near 2.41.771 .......
also a full ruu is at least 1.8 gig
Edit :
Especially the. 771 part has to match. The first 2.41 should match or be higher.

I thought it was 2.48 hence higher, didn't see the 1
The closer I could find online is 2.41.041.4 which is lower than the one that I have so I guess is not good.
Is there other way to do it ? a work around?
My phone is running at the moment I don't know why some files got corrupted.

DELETE your imei and SN ASAP. that's never ment to be on an online platform!
Second option is to pay for S-OFF via sunshine and convert the device to wwe which has all RUU files available.
And as i explained allready and will do that again, your 771 part has to MATCH so it can't be 041 or 401 or 841 it MUST be. 771. So either 2.41.771 or 3.16.771 or 3.18.771 (as examples)

Thanks for your clarifications, Mr Hofs.
Yesterday evening I was able to find and buy this firmware 2PS6IMG_PERFUME_UHL_O80_SENSE90GP_MR_H3G_UK_3.18.771.1[email protected]_84.09_F_release_519646_signed.zip
that according to your explanation should be a good fit.
I downloaded the file on my pc and then I followed a guide to try and install it using "adb and fastboot" but when I gave the comand to run it and I received an error that the file was too big and the adb crashed as well, so I wasn't able to try to install it on the phone. I saw there are many different guides online. Do you know if there s a good one that works ?
Thanks for your help!

Yep should be great. You have to rename the ruu.zip to 2PS6IMG.zip only and copy it to your SDcard. Boot to download mode and follow the flash instructions. The file will be auto detected. Be aware that this will wipe the ENTIRE phone.
Edit :
You said "buy" ? Now i am wondering where you bought it and how much you payed for it ?

yes, I bought it for 3$ on firmware.gem-flash.com They have plenty of firmware there was also the 2.41.771.3 version.
I thought better pay 3$ than 25$ to buy the license for sunshine.

I get few errors as well here

it says
12 RU_ZIP_ERROR

FAIL12 RU_ZIP_ERROR

Do you think I should try with the original firmware? ( I can have it with another 3$ )

Dude - stop wasting your money on that website. All the files are available here @ XDA (nearly all!) for free via links already posted or by asking.
The RU_FAILED is because the file you got doesnt match the CID of your phone. The CID is basically the Network Lock on the phone - dont get confused with Sim Lock.
Go on Google Playstore and install; Simple CID Getter. Let us know here what it says. e.g; HTC_001 (Mines H3G_001 which is 3 UK Network)
Then we can get you further along.....

So thats your pain in the arse (3 network! Me too - UK!)
Currently there does NOT seem to be any RUU for our networks.
Only way forward for both of us it would seem is to S-Off via Sunshine.
If you have already - then sweet, you can change your CID to 11111111 which will mean you can flash that zip you got and it will work.
Search or ask here on XDA about changiing CID to 11111111. Plenty have done before, so shouldnt be too hard for you.
I havent done it since HTC M7 so I cant remember, need to look it up myself.
Hope that helps!

ahahah good to know!
So I understand what you say.. but what if I pay 3$ and download the exact firmware that I have at the moment 2PS6IMG_PERFUME_UHL_N70_SENSE80GP_MR_H3G_UK_2.41.771.31_[email protected]_79.07_F_release_509479_combined_signed.zip
After that (once the file system is no longer corrupted) I could try to do an OTA update
It would be too easy so maybe the problem is that I can`t be sure that firmware is for 3 network right?

Thats actually prob the 1 I need (if you have the file name BTW - search it in Google, for sure you might get lucky on a Download and NOT have to pay, might even find it on here XDA, theres a very good chance of that.)
For you however the need the file thats says H3G_ROI cos your CID is that. H3G__003 = H3G_ROI (Republic Of Ireland).
Mine is H3G__001 = H3G_UK. Soz bud dont think will work. You try, it will only fail or do it. It wont bust it if it does do it. S-OFF is calling you doh.... $25 about 18 pound UK.
---------- Post added at 11:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:18 PM ----------
So if you do S-OFF and wanna go full OREO and have go Super CID 1111111.. whatever it is, then heres a link for WWE (Europe) RUU OREO zip for you HERE.
Rename it as you did before to 2PS6IMG etc - you've done it before lols. Best of luck
If the version number matches it's great to use. There is no RUU with 3.18.771 created for 2 different CID sets specifically. So that's not the problem. Either take the 2.41.771 (full ruu). Not only the firmware because if your OS is screwed you will be in the same boat again I remember they pulled the US ruu and they had to update the standalone firmware prior to using to the full ruu. You could check out to take the firmware from the ruu and flash it prior to the ruu.
That's done via download mode, htc ruu mode and Fastboot commands

If you look at your and his original OS/firmware number the RUU should work. It's definitely not CID related at this point. They don't create 2 ruu files with the same firmware number for 2 or even more CID numbers, if you check a ruu and open the host file you will see more than 1 CID in there.
He has a matching ruu but i think it has the same issue as the US version has.
He took his OS line from the download mode, that number can't change without s-off so that's the thing you'd have to look at. It's not suddenly changing because of the CID.
Also if he had to look at h3g ROI his version number would have been different, in that case it should be 2.41.773 and not 771....... there is no H3G ROI for the HTC 10, it's integrated in the UK version range.
And also i googled some on this ruu, not easy to track or dead links or spam. So i can understand his call to buy it for 3.
If he wants to pay another 3 for the 2.41.771 than its his call. It's a big difference to 25. I can't look inside his wallet. However i share your feeling that sunshine would a more valuable investment.
Fair point Mr Hofs, I dont know enough really to be able to help fully. I need the same help to update my phone. I looked at the same place these RUU are available for $3 and they have alot more than has been listed (example; OREO update for 3 UK). I am considering downloading myself (and sharing for all!). I want to make sure I get the correct version - but I'm having trouble finding my version numbers so I get the right one. I've perhaps made it harder but using the Venom custom Rom. I've looked in about but cant find anything that makes sense. Can you advise where I can find the version numbers? Cheers

Man if your OS number is the same as mine I can share with you the file I downloaded and see if it can be useful for you at least.
I think I am gonna try to download the same version that I have at the moment as It seems an easier way than use sunshine to S-OFF and go down that way.
I ll keep you posted. Cheers
