[Q] Factory reset after encryption password fail normal? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

While sitting in the airplane last week I rebooted my phone and couldn't correctly remember my encryption passphrase. I tried different permutations when suddenly (I later found out after two 30s delays) my phone rebooted and factory reset without asking me or giving any warning. Is this normal for Android 4 or is this a Sony "feature"?
I find this to be a massive usability fail. I probably would have remembered the passphrase in the end but the data is gone forever.

I've never heard of that, and if so there should be a warning I agree.

Phone Stuck In Time Warp

So I have no idea what is happening with my phone, but it seems to be stuck in a single moment in time. Any changes that are made, texts received, apps (un)installed are reverted on the next reboot.
This wouldn't be a problem usually, except my phone randomly reboots when I'm doing normal things. It's become pretty unstable and pretty much is unreliable.
Before anyone says "just factory reset it", I can't. Any attempts to factory reset, fastboot flash, ODIN, CWM reflash, or OMAP flash (I got desperate) SAY they are successful, but the phone reboots to the same state as it was before.
I'm essentially at my wits end. Any attempts to return my phone to stock do nothing.
Any ideas or thoughts?

Boot Loop after factory reset

D851 phone running stock lollipop
I had an issue the other day where my WiFi and Bluetooth were refusing to connect and just said "connection not allowed" so I tried a few things and then resorted to a factory reset.
Luckily the factory reset fixed the WiFi issue but now another issue has come up, an almost endless boot loop.
Occasionally the phone will actually boot but it never stays on for long even when plugged in. I've tried factory resetting again but to no avail.
Prior to this issue my phone would have the occasional random reset but nothing too frequent, my battery is relatively new but I'm not ruining out the possibility of a faulty battery and am in the process of getting a replacement.
Does anyone have any ideas what this issue could be caused by and how to fix it? The fact that it occasionally boots makes me think it IS a battery issue but I'm a complete noob to this kind of thing.

issues after updating to NPP25.137-93-2.

This update became available to me last Saturday. I thought it was the April security patch, but after installing the update version stayed on March, I and now I get random reboots and sometime my phone will ask me to input the pattern on lockscreen, not allowing me to use my fingerprint, even if I had done it once.
Anyone else having these issues?
If the phone restarts (or soft reboots) you will not be able to use the finger print sensor until you have entered your pin in first
You may have not noticed your phone restarted or soft rebooted itself
Assuming you have never modified your phone it will be impossible to say why your phone is randomly rebooting without an adb logcat recorded at the time of the random restart
If the problem persists you might have to factory reset your device
This may also happen when you have a 64bit twrp installed, even more likely with magisk.

Click to collapse
OK, phone was never modified, but I think it might be hard to grab a logcat of it. I don't even have a PC.
Same problem but now it's in a bootloop...

Can't Setup U11 EYES After Factory Reset

I recently bought a new device and decided to give my HTC U11 EYES to my sister-in-law. So I did a factory reset through the recovery mode (rather than through the Android settings). Now the phone refuses to proceed through initial setup. I can get to the Welcome screen where I choose the language, then it asks me to connect to a WiFi network (which it does successfully, and I have to do so otherwise the "Next" button is grayed out), then it goes to a screen that says "Checking for updates, this may take a minute or two" and it just sits there forever. It never progresses beyond that. There's no "Skip" option anywhere, there's no EULA to agree to, and the WiFi icon shows all kinds of constant activity. But the setup never progresses beyond that update screen. I tried leaving it on overnight, it's been 10 hours. Still nothing. I tried doing another factory reset, same result.
I've owned two of these devices and never had an issue doing initial setup before, but I've never done a factory reset on either of them before. Normally a factory reset is supposed to SOLVE problems, not cause them. I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix it. I've been unable to find an original RUU that successfully flashes to the device.
try to wipe the cashe
Go again to download mode by pressing power and volume down together, then check for wipe Cashe drive
And you can try again factory rest later after restart

How to unlock A70 without PIN

I tried to change my PIN on my A70 and must have mis-typed it; in any case, I can no longer unlock the phone. After multiple attempts I get a "wait 29 seconds" message, then it starts from the beginning.
All the various instructions for switching off without a PIN and doing a factory reset fail, I always get back to the lock screen.
Can anyone help?
Seems like you are have problem with Android Factory Reset Protection. You can try entering one of your last google account on that device.
