Hi,
This is my first post in XDA. I'm pretty sure there are similar posts regarding my issue but none of them have solved my problem. My friend gave me his SGS3 T999 (T-Mobile). But the camera won't work, I just get the following message:

I've already tried the following:
1. Flash stock rom
2. Tried other camera apps
3. Tested both front and back cameras with *#0*# USSD code
It may be related but the Accelorometer doesn't work either.
Checked the firmwares:
Rear Camera
Cam FW Ver: GDFD06
Phone FW Ver: GDFI02
Front Camera:
Cam&Phone FW Ver: S5K6A3
I have a hunch, would it be possible to change the camera's firmware verson? That's the only thing I haven't tried so far. I read somewhere that the problem started when they updated the firmware.
You cant manually update the camera firmware anymore. They blocked this in 4.1.2, so you'd have to go back to 4.1.1, but you probably already have newer cam firmware than you'd get doing that. Did it work when you ran the test?
Might want to consider replacing the camera. Pretty cheap part online.

I don't think it's a hardware issue. I tested both the front and back camera but both of them just get the same error message.
Look in /system/cameradata for a file that has your cam firmware in the name. If its not there, that's probably the cause. If it is there, im not sure...

I've tried experimenting with the files in cameradata and found in some threads that dropping a ZH.bin file might fix the issue. but it hasn't after doing so.
When I tried removing the GD.bin file though, it stops crashing the camera but there's still no picture from the lens.
Only other thing I can think to try is to flash the full stock firmware via Odin, then factory reset and test. (This will wipe internal sd fyi)
I'm thinking of replacing the front and back cameras.
I was only able to find parts for shv-e210s/k (korean model), would it be okay to use these parts for the T999?
Probably, as long as they're for the S3. Did you check http://etradesupply.com ? They ship from both hong kong and the US and im quite certain they have the exact parts you'll need.
---------- Post added at 01:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 PM ----------
They're pretty cheap too, so even if it doesn't fix it, you shouldn't be out much money.
I dont recall if it was mentioned, and I don't have a clue if it'd work or not, but you could try flashing a 4.1.1 rom, then use the dialer codes to get to the cam firmware menu, and choose phone to cam f/w write. Its the last thing I could think to try....

Just to give you an update on what has happened so far..
I replaced my faulty front-facing camera, figured it was since the proximity sensor wasn't working.
So right now I am 100% sure that the front-facing camera is working but I still get the same Camera Failed error after testing it through the *#0*# menu. RIght now I'm downloading the 4.1.1 firmware and hoping that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625461 will help me downgrade.
After that, fingers crossed that using the phone/cam fw write will work.
Id be very, very, very cautious about doing that. If any part of it doesn't work quite right you'll hard brick for sure.
If it were me, I'd try just the 4.1.1 rom first and only do that process as a last resort. I am curious if it would actually work, but I dont want to see anyone brick to try figuring it out!

Good news is, the downgrade worked.
But the Phone to CAM FW Write is still grayed out and camera isn't working.
After everything I did, I think it's safe to assume that it's the motherboard.
Well its cool to see that that actually worked for downgrading! Ill have to look into it a bit more I suppose. Sorry to hear it didn't help though. If you want to look into it, you can find motherboards for sale on ebay most of the time. Just watch out for blacklisted ones.

So I've searched around, cant find any straight answer. Also only found old, un-maintained threads.
Anyways heres the problem, When I call people most of the time they cant hear me, but I can hear them, This only happens on anything thats not a stock rom, I'd stick with a stock rom, but they seem sluggish, and hog battery life compared to most custom roms w/kernals. The first thing I thought of was a faulty phone(this was befor the newer phone with unlocked bootloaders) Now I got the same phone(same model, different phone) with unlocked bootloaders. But Im running into the same issue. I've reviewed my APN settings, got the set to what they need to be. The only thing I can come to a conclusion to is the Baseband, I cant seem to find a baseband that works on my current setup, which is CM9 with a freexperia kernal. The kernal i found through the installation instructs for the cm9. So anyone got any input on this? I'd really appreciate some help.
I've been playing with this for the past week now. I have the same issue.
From what I've gathered it's a baseband issue. I've gotta find the link back but you need to flash the correct stock baseband to get everything working. I'll list exactly what I did to get mine working.
EDIT:
Ok found the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759544
What I did was flash R800i 4.0.2.A.0.58 EnhancedV2 firmware which I found here
http://www.mediafire.com/?s93d99wisca54es
Then I flashed only the Baseband from here, only 2 boxes should be checked. See below. Only the FTF file. You can flash the other file if you want but it seems to be working fine without it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27760326/Baseband -36 with libs for Xperia PLAY.rar
Next flash your Kernel. I'm currently using DoomKernel and I'm gonna try out LuPuSv5-GB.
Then go Ahead and flash your rom. I haven't tested many roms yet but thus far I've had no issues with True Ancestor.
In the next few days I'm going to try NTX rom. Then I'm gonna try out Jelly Bean, CM10, with this to see if it works. Thus far I've only tested this with TA so test what you want.
Edit: Seems to be working on everything I try!

Congrats and good luck!
Hey guys this is my first post but I have a galaxy s3 on sprint model l710 that I successfully rooted and flashed a custom ROM to, the phone worked fine and I decided to flash a new rom so I made a backup of the current rom I had (synergyROM) and proceeded to download a new rom that I must of overlooked it to be intended for the international quad core version.
It goes without saying that I messed up and there might not be a fix to my problem but worth a shot!
After I loaded the zip from my CWM menu I selected reboot and now the phone will not turn on at all, not even to downloaded mode!
If anyone has any idea on how to get it to downloaded mode I can take it from there.
If you flashed an international rom on the phone, the phone is hard bricked and there will be no way for you to fix it personally. You can turn it in to Sprint and play dumb saying you downloaded the recent OTA or whatever and that it wouldn't turn back on.
Does anybody read english words anymore?!?!?!

People should stop doing this. It just drives the costs up for those of us that are responsible enough to do simple things after reading simple instructions.

I think your right that might be my only way the funnything is when I did the it the first time I rooted it I put the international rom on there and it would peer cycle but I could enter the download mode and fixed it but this time I didn't have that luxury.
Thank your for the quick response !

You're right, I don't think people should do that but people will end up doing it either way. The fact that you've already made this mistake once though... how about you stick to looking in the Sprint section for roms? That way you don't end up downloading this random stuff... OR how about you stop flashing roms entirely?
Read the first post of rom threads in it's entirety. I have yet to see a rom that does not explicitly say which GS3 it is for in the first page.

Hurts me to say this but its game over dude. The international version's misc partition is located in the same place as the boot partition for the Sprint variant, so theres no way that that phone is booting up again
Best bet is to take it into Sprint and play it dumb. Good luck :good:
EDIT: Really dude, twice? I think it goes without saying that once you try something and it doesnt work the first time, that doesnt make it more likely to work the second time.

This is why you always stay in the sprint section when you are looking for new roms to flash. They have all the gs3 forums separated for a reason.....

For the hell of it you could try this.. Put it in download mode, even if it doesn't show on the screen and try flashing stock with odin.. You have noting to loose..
http://www.qbking77.com/how-to-unroot/unroot-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii.html
So i was trying to help my friend with their note 2 they got from AT&T, all we wanted to do was to update it to the latest version of android.
Steps taken:
rooted it via exynos exploit
installed mobile odin
installed clockwork mod
all was working fine untill we used mobile odin and flashed the wrong version of android to it the n7105 not the i317 version.
It booted up fine then after a reboot it is now stuck on the logo screen (see pic)
I want to recover it to complete factory settings now.
The thing is it cant get into recovery mode OR download mode.
i can get it reconised in device manager as a samsung phone but other than that, nothing working. Could someone point me in the right direction to get this fixed?
If i get it fixed tonight i will happily donate beer money!
Please help me!
Tom

can you get it to download mode? i havent seen a phone yet that would let you get to the "samsung screen" ..and be totally bricked.
you can try making a jig although i am not sure if it works on our phones..you will have to search ..easy to make ... $1.00 at radio shack for resistors!!

If he flashed a n7105 rom he wouldn't have the "stock firmware" that the guide you posted requires

For some reason, ive managed to get it into download mode! huge sucess!
the battery was pretty low when i was doing this, its been plugged in for a while so it may have fixed it.
I just need to install a stock rom or a custom rom now.
could anyone point me in the right direction of a stock 'samsung' oem 4.1.2 version? perhaps with no at&T branding?
Would be greatfull!

Well if you press *#9090#, DO NOT choose option 1 as it will immediately wipe your IMEI and All related network information.
I may have to send my phone out for repair unless anyone knows of a cheap/inexpensive way to fix this problem. I know of a program called Chimera, but it charges €59.90 for the ability.
So currently I have no Network, no IMEI, unknown baseband version and to top it off, my phone reboots after 2 minutes. I've tried Odin'ing back to stock but it didn't work probably because that info I erased is stored elsewhere...
Any ideas?

I did the same thing on my note 2 and bought another device then one day i decided to see if i could fix it. I did alot of digging and fixed it. I wanna say i flashed a stock modem and everything imei and all came back. Its fixable just gotta find the right solution but if warranty fix it then i don't blame you .
today if acted very silly, I read this thread and I dont know for what reason did just what he said I should not do and now I have my note 4 in an infinite loop that doesnt allow to use, I already install the current modem device and still the problem persists. The another problem that I have is that Samsung will hardly support me because I didnt have the bill and I'm in a different country in which the note was sold.

Wow I just noticed how old this topic was lol sorry
All of a sudden my fingerprint sensor stopped working. I have tried a reset already (Full wipe) and no change.
When I try learn fingerprints, it just does not do anything when touching the sensor.
I do not think its a hardware problem due to the following picture attached.
The self test, passes if I leave the fingerprint sensor UNCOVERED. If i touch it or cover it with my finger, it then goes and fails. Open it passes, closed it fails.
Any ideas?

I've had this on a couple of occasions where it does not seem to respond and it's not because my finger is dirty etc. I end up unlocking by another way and then it seems to sort itself out.

I have now updated to the latest avail firmware (OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA_007_all_1712122320_69f9fba67934cd) .
No difference.
ANy ideas guys? This bother me so much that I will retire the phone If I cannot fix it. Also, returning it is not an option as I live in South Africa and had to "MyUS" it to me. (Online bought on US).
Manually "local upgrade" downgraded to "OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA_004_all_1711152324_9a7ca8ad1c7d"
No changes.
Now doing a normal OTA
How does one do a clean flash with the full stock firmware using stock recovery. I mean, not just a "local upgrade" but rather full wipe / reinstall etc..leaving you with a brand new (Software) start up?
Thanks
Not sure, but my Fingerprint sensor seems to be acting up as well. It still works most of the time, but sometimes doesn't react at all. Might be something that will pop up for more users over time if it's a hardware fault and it might well be...

Manually "local upgrade" downgraded to "OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA_004_all_1711152324_9a7ca8ad1c7d"
No changes.
Now doing a normal OTA

Just confirming, no changes after the OTA again.
I would think fingerprint sensor is dead, but test results (Fail and pass depending on finger position) tell me otherwise....Very alive. Feels like a software issue....any ideas?

I too had the wired issue, the sensor does not work at times, cant unlock my device that way, at that time the double tap to wake also does not work, but most of the time it seems to work for me till now, I do suspect that its kind of a software problem of sorts, I believe that you must raise the issue over at the official one plus forums, or may be just get the device replaced.
The latest room is 4.7.5. you're running 4.7.4. maybe that could be an issue.
Try to flash full ROM through TWRP.
Update.
Screen start to stop working randomly , a restart by holding power button would restart and it would work again. Untill it didn't work again. This would happen once a day.
Phone is now unusable. Booting to recovery lands you in either stock or twrp, however can't touch anything on twrp to flash.
Any ideas ?

Start from scratch. Adb it with stock ROM, stock recovery. Just revert everything back to stock. Backup first
Had the same issue.
Contacted 1+ on the support chat- they have send me so called testing OS (had higher build then the latest 4.6.7) which probably overwritten installed programs and
evrithing started to work.
If you are facing this problem just try this way.

Ok, well if you're still able to get to bootloader, then there's hope. Have you tried The Doctors back to stock guide here:

Or here if that doesn't work: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/help/unbrick-guide-5t-t3720125
But that's really a last resort.
