Hey guys this is my first post but I have a galaxy s3 on sprint model l710 that I successfully rooted and flashed a custom ROM to, the phone worked fine and I decided to flash a new rom so I made a backup of the current rom I had (synergyROM) and proceeded to download a new rom that I must of overlooked it to be intended for the international quad core version.
It goes without saying that I messed up and there might not be a fix to my problem but worth a shot!
After I loaded the zip from my CWM menu I selected reboot and now the phone will not turn on at all, not even to downloaded mode!
If anyone has any idea on how to get it to downloaded mode I can take it from there.
If you flashed an international rom on the phone, the phone is hard bricked and there will be no way for you to fix it personally. You can turn it in to Sprint and play dumb saying you downloaded the recent OTA or whatever and that it wouldn't turn back on.
Does anybody read english words anymore?!?!?!

People should stop doing this. It just drives the costs up for those of us that are responsible enough to do simple things after reading simple instructions.

I think your right that might be my only way the funnything is when I did the it the first time I rooted it I put the international rom on there and it would peer cycle but I could enter the download mode and fixed it but this time I didn't have that luxury.
Thank your for the quick response !

You're right, I don't think people should do that but people will end up doing it either way. The fact that you've already made this mistake once though... how about you stick to looking in the Sprint section for roms? That way you don't end up downloading this random stuff... OR how about you stop flashing roms entirely?
Read the first post of rom threads in it's entirety. I have yet to see a rom that does not explicitly say which GS3 it is for in the first page.

Hurts me to say this but its game over dude. The international version's misc partition is located in the same place as the boot partition for the Sprint variant, so theres no way that that phone is booting up again
Best bet is to take it into Sprint and play it dumb. Good luck :good:
EDIT: Really dude, twice? I think it goes without saying that once you try something and it doesnt work the first time, that doesnt make it more likely to work the second time.

This is why you always stay in the sprint section when you are looking for new roms to flash. They have all the gs3 forums separated for a reason.....

For the hell of it you could try this.. Put it in download mode, even if it doesn't show on the screen and try flashing stock with odin.. You have noting to loose..

I recently got a Samsung Epic 4G Touch and immediately flashed the system to ICS, using SFHub's stock rooted FF18.
Phone works great with that rom. But I was trying to apply Kobridge's tweak pack and discovered that recovery is not letting me install .zip files.
I reboot into recovery fine, and can choose "apply update from sd card .zip" fine. I can navigate to the file fine. When I select it though, it immediately switches to an android bot lying down, with its hood open and a red triangle above it.
I then have to pull the battery to re-boot the phone. It boots into normal startup fine, but the tweak has not been applied.
I tried several versions, and other zips, and it doesn't seem to want to let me install anything that way.
Ideas? I'd rather not have to put CWM on the phone or a different rom on the phone just yet.
That is because the install update zips are for official sprint/Samsung upgrades. To flash those you need CWM.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
You're going to need CWM or another custom recovery to flash anything on your phone
Now I feel like an idiot. I thought the version I got had a working recovery in it, but you're right - it didn't.
I installed Agat's and it's working fine now.
Thanks for the help!

ROOTED Verizon GS4 & Safestrap ROM install ERROR
Good day everyone!
I seem to have bumped into a problem im hoping someone on here can possibly help with.
I successfully rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 on ME7 and got safestrap installed. I followed all the steps correctly then
I downloaded the Hyperdrive ROM but when I get to the install step for the ROM, it gives me a error saying "The zip cannot be flashed " or something of that matter. Anyone know a way to fix this or work around it?
Anyones help is truly appreciated.

Even though you're in the wrong forum... It sounds like a bad download, try redownloading the ROM.

I was trying to unroot my TMO SG3 SGH-T999 so I can exchange it under warranty. I was following the instructions here, but using mobile ODIN instead of the Windows version, as I am on a Mac (OS X 10.7.5). I found two ROMs on my external SD - Liquid Smooth JB and the Stock ROM - so I thought, let's try to flash the Liquid Smooth JB just for fun, while I'm at it. When I tried to do this before using CWM Recovery, it would load to the Liquid Smooth JB logo screen then freeze, but I could always restart it and go back to the regular ROM - so I was hoping maybe using Mobile ODIN it would work - this was clearly a bad idea.
It's totally bricked now
I can boot it into Download mode, which looks like

I installed Heimdall after reading some people post in various forums that they were able to recover from similar situations using it, but I can't find a Heimdall firmware package for the SGH-T999.
And ideas? This is really bad ...
Thanks!
You will have to send it in to be repaired.

Bricked generally means black screen no response when plugged in or Power cycled or anything.
As people have already pointed out get a Windows machine or boot camp a Windows partition and flash an image with Odin. There is a bunch in the thread in android development.
Best of luck flashing let us know how you get on.
I laughed hard @ LET ME FLASH THE LIQUID SMOOTH WHILE AT IT
, if your route and goal is to revert back to stock rom then how can u flash liquid smooth while AT IT? makes zero sense since odin is just for stock and i never heard of odin flashing custom roms. And guess what? The warranty people got flash counters so figure out a way to reset your download flash counter or they will find its been tampered with.
Get to a Pc! If you can get to download mode you are definitely not hard bricked. Flash a stock firmware and ur good to go!
This thread is hilarious. Flashing a ROM that you know doesn't work. Good job!
Thanks everyone for the Windows Odin suggestion. Will try it and let you know how it goes.
I was able to restore the stock ROM using CWM, which I had forgotten was on the phone (I had been using Volume Down-Home-Power so much I forgot about Volume Up). All in all not one of my prouder moments, but all's well that ends well.
That said, I would like to know why the Liquid Smooth ROM didn't work, and how I could tell a working ROM from a non-working one before flashing it. I did an md5 and it matched.
Yes @psykhotic, I had trouble with this ROM when using CWM, but when I asked Max Lee of http://galaxys3root.com/ - whose instructions I had followed for rooting my phone and installing the Liquid Smooth ROM - his response made it sound like it could have just been a fluke:
Did you do factory reset when I installing liquid? If u end up in a bootloop u have to do a fresh reinstall then wipe cache simple doing wipe after installing will not solve problems. That is a funky thing that happens but you should make a backup rom so u can easily restore if something goes wrong.

There was also reason to believe it could have been related to CWM, such that a different software for flashing the ROM might have worked (when I say reason to believe, I mean to someone who isn't an expert in flashing ROMs).

Just a little FYI that I have learned when flashing anything that can cause you to brick. Make sure that you rad all the comments and see if others are having issues with flashing. Make sure you download the flash file for your area. Can't flash a us phone with a Chinese phone. You got very lucky from the sounds of it and am glad to hear that you could still boot it.

So i was trying to help my friend with their note 2 they got from AT&T, all we wanted to do was to update it to the latest version of android.
Steps taken:
rooted it via exynos exploit
installed mobile odin
installed clockwork mod
all was working fine untill we used mobile odin and flashed the wrong version of android to it the n7105 not the i317 version.
It booted up fine then after a reboot it is now stuck on the logo screen (see pic)
I want to recover it to complete factory settings now.
The thing is it cant get into recovery mode OR download mode.
i can get it reconised in device manager as a samsung phone but other than that, nothing working. Could someone point me in the right direction to get this fixed?
If i get it fixed tonight i will happily donate beer money!
Please help me!
Tom

could anyone point me in the right direction of a stock 'samsung' oem 4.1.2 version? perhaps with no at&T branding?

So here's the deal. I rooted my D710BST (ICS 4.0.4, fl24) with framaroot. I had no custom recovery so i used mobile odin (i don't have a pc) to flash garwynn's custom kernel ( http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=119 ) so i can run agat's cr. Well now i have random power downs and gps failure. I have not been able to play ingress in over a week and its driving me nuts!!!
I just wanted to run this by more knowledgeable individuals. In theroy (until confirmed), since the kernel is a safe kernel, i can jump straight outta ICS. I am wanting to load ProjectX ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320041 ). It requires a clean flash. [q] Since mobile odin can flash from internal SD and i lack computer, can i not move all my pics, vids, personal files (etc...) to my external SD, remove it, then flash clean?
noob alert: everything i have ever done in the root world is in this post
5min between posts?!?!? I just wanna edit this one!!! grr
What gives? Do i need to put "[q]" in the title?
I drive a cab and kinda rely on my gps. I can manage, with just my map; but i miss my navi!
Can you put a custom recovery?

More stock stuff? Sheeesh, why am i rooting? This beautiful sounding ROM was developed by your team! Why the discouragement? And, as i said before, i do not have a computer. How come no one will just answer the question? I am a strong person and can take criticism, if that is what i needed. Is your projectX ROM not safe/ideal?!?!? Sorry man, Im just baffled you would discourage use of your own products. Am i missing something? Confused
Sorry for sounding stubborn but, i really wanna try that ROM. Im just saying, if i wanted to stay stock, i would have never researched my way to xda. All the op details were so i can be thorough. The actual question was about the internal (clean) flash. I mean, should i not try your ROM?
If you read the first post in the thread you would see the instructions on how to install... and the first step is upgrading to the official upgrade because this creates the Preload partition, it is a necessary step. Not discouraging you from using Project X at all, I am about to release an update soon. I just want you to be aware of the proper procedure so things don't go wrong. The first post in the Project X thread has all the steps you need along with links to all the files you need.
Oh my god! I am sooo sorry i read that the wrong way! I feel like anass now! My apologies.
Yeah, i read about the partition change from ICS. So, using your link to upgrade and fix partitions would make for a smooth projectX installation? Does that mean i don't have to clean flash, since Im not coming from ICS?

Limited computer access kinda snailed the process. Once i was up, i had to do the "clear data" on play store and its framework, in order to download anything. I lost your custom store but, I'm running! I am really enjoying all the green! I love the Pandora lock screen and the starry boot animation and the....... I'm sure I'll find tons more, in due time!

This is late, but...
Here is my story of me being a GENIUS. I tried flashing a g2 ROM because I didn't read everything and because I am a dumb donkey. Anyway, so I get into recovery mode, wipe everything, and then try flashing the ROM. MISTAKE 1, it told me to make sure the ROM was compatible, but me being a genius I skipped the check and just flashed it. MISTAKE NUMBER 2, it failed flashing the first time, so me being a genius tried again, it took almost 5 minuted but it finally flashed. I reboot it and it just stays on the LG screen, I leave for 10 minutes and come back, still there, leave for 30 minutes and come back, still there. I take the battery out, and go back into recovery mode. I get in there and look at the ROM name, "Cloudy G3 for LG G2". Good thing I had another ROM handy and flashed that one instead. Now none of my sensors work, the accelerometer, proximity, gyroscope, etc. None of them work. I am a GENIUS. So the lesson here is read the whole name of the ROM, not just what you want to read and don't be a genius like me. I'm still going about trying to fix my sensors, but if I can't, I'll be getting a new phone with the T-Mobile JUMP! thing anyway.
OK so I decided to do a full unroot, and return the phone back to it's original state. Now all of my sensors work and I'm running the Illusions ROM with working sensors.
never mind.
