I believe it is the calendar and calculator right now.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
The new "material" is in calculator and calendar as skiman10 said, the keyboard, settings app and the notification drawer are part of the new "material" too. We all were expecting more of it but we'll have to wait until the final release. There are no new apps for download, and i dont think google will change the UI of all gapps like gmail, maps and so on.

It's a preview, the apps will come.
L is not stable at the moment. It's meant for devs to be able to work on their apps. Expects unrecoverable FC's etc.

All of which won't stop dozens of people who don't know how flashing "L" today will benefit them from flashing anyway. They're the same people who have an urgent need to root their devices without knowing why they should root their devices.
Expecting the inevitable flood of "I 'bricked' my Nexus after flashing to 'L'" threads...

Expecting such is fine and all, but I can personally confirm that everything I do is fine generally. Just 2 games that I barely play anyway don't work, but it's a small price to pay
Should also note I'm not a dev, yet anyway. I just like new things

I've been playing around the Miui rom and there are some really neat apps that I would love to have on CM's rom. File explorer with the way it organizes apks, music files, and etc and the traffic monitor app that tells you everything bandwidth you used and whatever.
Is there anyway we can port them over?
Im trying to find out the same thing. The framework is different so it may be hard but if someone could it would be awesome.
the miui music app rocks! Been using it on my Galaxy s, trying tonight on Desire Z aswell.
well, MIUI Framework is different and it wont work at all in other roms. But why do you want to use its app for another rom? is there something wrong with MIUI that you dont like ?
I don't like how miui looks more like the iphone os, I like the way the stock Android looks, hence why I'm using cyanogen mod.

So do what I do and use an alternative launcher like launcherpro or adw. Works flawlessly.

Miui has really improved since the last comment has been posted. Its super rootytooty now, in case anyone wants to try it, and it can be themed outrageously to make it look like android os, if you don't like the iphone-ish theme.
Anyway, I kind of like the op's thoughts. I wouldn't mind a few miui apps on mexdroid, for example. Flashing and restoring between roms for a few nice features is troublesome ._.

Please can anyone tell me where to find latest version of MIUI ROM for Galaxy S i9000?
I am confused because these links are giving me:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/miui9000devs/ = MIUI MCGv4.3 - 1st June 2011
how is that possible developer jumps from 4.3 to 7.6 version with-in 18days.

You can install some of MIUI application on other roms, for example file explorer. I copied that from miui rom zip and it worked well for me on my ICS (no MIUI) rom.

MIUI default theme really looks like iOS yeah but you can change it very easily.
I'm using ADW Ex so i can customize my homescreen and use an appdrawer.
The lack of appdrawer seems to me like the main reason why MIUI looks like iOS. So you just need to install the launcher you want (or enable the MIUI app drawer with the MIUI Extended settings mod) and delete all icons on your homescreens to make your MIUI rom more like the stock one.
MIUI Theming engine is the best and that's what i would like to be ported on other Roms.
I know people probably ask this 1000 times a day but:
I recently got a ICS ROM on my phone and can't find and decent apps Googling things like "Top ICS apps" all the results seem to me targeted at new users. I am looking for the must have apps for advanced people running custom ROMs and writing their own apps.
apex launcher. that's all i can think of that's ics exclusive that i use.

I have ZERO lag on apex when opening the app drawer (and no Apex is not a system app on my phone) but I will give Nova a try regardless.
I also second Chrome and Apex/Nova Launcher as the must haves so far. Honestly most good apps for ICS are going to be available for older android OS's as well just because of the huge installed user base that exists for froyo/gingerbread. Only 3% of all android devices are currently running ICS

Wow, I find it quite funny that you openly admit that there is likely 1000 other threads C covering this issue but you posted anyways.
The reason there are not many results on Google (which I find hard to believe) I'd because ova has not been out long enough with high enough market penetration for useful ics only applications to be created.

You would think since goggle is fond of amoled technology they would give us an official option to swap to black backgrounds inside their own apps. Calender, gmail and email need this option bad. I am sure many of us use these heavily and battery would benefit greatly from an invert option inside these apps and it isn't there in jellybean. What's up google? Y u no invert?

Yeah its very strange at this point they haven't made most apps dark.

I've been using the inverted apps from rootzwiki (http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29460-in...ate-8-4-gmail412-contacts-fixed-in-landscape/) for a while now on latest rasjellybean to date + trinity stable 35 and they are working just fine: I've flashed mms, contacts, calendar, talk and installed the gmail inverted app (in order to get the inverted gmail client, you need to deleted the stock gapps gmail.apk from /system/app first and then install the inverted gmail apk file as normal).
I've just been using the black bean ROM, which is quite nice.
here is a good source for just apps.

This is useful if you want cm10.1 camera, but lots of needed system apks are missing.
As we all know, Android Kitkat 4.4 was launched today along with the Nexus 5. Google has also released the sourcecode for the new OS.
There are, however, a plethora of 4.4 applications that are supported by 4.3 -- just to keep you occupied till 4.4 comes out for our phones (unofficially, of course).
I've been dumping these applications that I've tested right here:
https://mega.co.nz/#F!yd9XyKRZ!OONKBzzngb8R2nmDIpxFFw
Of course, this is not at all officially supported however I've gotten the new launcher, keyboard, google search, hangouts (with SMS) and everything else working as well.
Enjoy!
Here you can find lot more..

I've installed Gmail and Hangouts in LG stock ROM (epsilon) and are working great!
I assume these don't work with stock 4.1.2 (no root), do they?
I miss my n4, there are at list 4 kitkat builds ready to download...
Someone is working with the sources?
