I rooted my 12.2 and when I tried to install xposed framework, I get the following error:
Copying Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip...
Could not extract Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip
I found this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698141 and tried it with the SElinux mode changer but that didn't work either.
Does anybody know of a fix?
Thank you
Have you installed TWRP recently?

yes i installed the note pro exynos version of twrp
Try installing folder mount from the play store and run it, then try installing xposed again
Yep @ FolderMount. It will fix any writing issues for you. Just run the app and it will let you know it detected a problem and fixed it. Just reboot when asked
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
if you have an external sdcard mounted xposed may tries to extract the disabler.zip to your sdcard.
because of that annoying kitkat sdcard-permission-feature it may fails.
if foldermount doesn't work you could try this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix

Having the same trouble on my tab pro 12.2

Search xda for "xposed framework for Samsung" there is a yhread that posts flashable zips for the new framework for xposed to work on 5.1.1.

Change install method from "Classical/write to /system directly" to auto recovery zip install (must have custom recovery). Had the same problem and this worked for me.

It won't let me change the permissions on /system (rest works).
Probably because I don't have the latest due to not having the market lol...
Can someone upload a newer Root Explorer?
"SU File Manager and Terminal". Best file manager you can buy, and it allows /system and /data to mount as rw in file explorer mode.
Sent from a Western Union telegram.
From adb shell or a term session on the phone, makes no difference:
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
If you still need the latest one let me know and I'll upload it to dropbox.

Alright, I removed it, but update.zip for the Market, once installed, still force-closes...
Does someone have a DEFINITE link to a working Market for 6.1.1?
I know there are at least 5 uploaded on this forum, and I'll start to try each one one by one since I can delete them now.
OK it failed again, but I installed the modded Gapps (was hoping to avoid having to install all Gapps, they waste resources) and the Market works.
Now to remove all the other crap...
edit: nevermind lol.....
Spoke too soon. It was working fine for a few minutes, then started force-closing constantly. Won't start now.

I just switched from my M7 to the M8 yesterday. I was excited to have the external SD for saving pictures, moving apps, but mostly to host my backups. I have since unlocked my bootloader and rooted the device. Unfortunately I'm unable to write any back ups through TWRP to the card. I was wondering if anyone found any fixes? I've already tried SDFix but it seems not to work with our device. Any help would be appreciated!
Sidenote: I know this probably belongs under development but I'm unable to post yet as my post count is too low. Thanks again!

You will need to edit platform.xml file in/system/etc. Are you comfortable ?
I'm not sure. If there was a tutorial that was available I could possibly follow it. Otherwise is this something that could be included in future rom builds? I wouldn't mind waiting.

Look for nextapp's SDFix in the play store.. Root and system write protection off is required. It basically edits the file for you (also backs up the original)

the quick way? go to the module thread in Original development and follow the instructions. You'll have to do it at every boot though unless you're on a rom that supports init.d support. If you're on stock I made a guide to disable it on boot automatically without init.d support

I tried it again using "su". I'm pretty sure that is what I used the first time as well because when I entered the command the super user prompt came up to allow access for terminal. Same results. Didn't see any confirmation. Exited app and tried running SDFix and failed again. I then followed your link to your thread and followed step by step. Got all the way to the point where I was trying to save the text document at the end and got the prompt that I could not save the file.
I'm usually pretty good at following tutorials and I'm sure I'm not skipping steps but who knows. I think this one has me defeated lol.
If you put it on your SD card try just /sdcard/wp_mod.ko

Sure. Here it is:
You need to make following change to platform.xml in /system/etc.
Add <group gid="Media_rw"/> under WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE(or similar).
Save. Set Permission to rw-r-r or 644.
Reboot and Enjoy
Good luck :good:

Well I ran through both tutorials (yours and the others) once again. Entered the command twice to confirm and got the message "failed file already exists". So I'm assuming that part went through fine but still unable to run SDFix successfully or edit the install_recovery.sh file. Wouldn't allow me to save through es text edit or the standard one.
So now I'm trying to manually change the platform.xml file. When I navigate to system/etc I don't see any file named "platform.xml". Also tried a search through es file explorer and couldn't find any file. Any thoughts?

Are you mounting it as r/w in the file explorer? It doesn't seem like you're doing that. I know the module works.. You can't just install the module and it's magically writable.. you still have to make it r/w in a file explorer before you make any changes. I don't use es. I use root explorer and there is a r/w button on top.

As of now recovery doesn't support exfat formatted cards, If your sd card is formatted as exfat it will fail in recovery. You need to either format your external sd card to fat32 or just wait until the recovery is updated to support exfat. It will once they get kernel source code

How far out do you think that is? I was figuring I could just get a cheaper card for my backups. Only thing is if I remember correctly Fat32 only supports up to 4GB files correct? I remember my backups being a tad over that so getting another card might not even make a difference.
Ok, back again.
So, my situation is now this: The root worked, by appearance but somehow, it only seems to be a "partial root", for lack of a better description.
I have SU and Rootcheck Basic installed and it says that I have root, but I can't get the play store to work no matter what, and can't change permissions on the /system/apps folder or write to there when trying to copy the Google Play apk there (attempting to see if I can run or install it there).
And, IDK if this is relevant, KFFirstAide doesn't seem to be able to "find" certain folders and keeps showing errors such as: "The system cannot find the path specified. mkdir failed for /data/local/tmp, File exists" and "The system cannot find the path specified. rm failed for /data/local.prop, No such file or directory" for many operations during it's process, but overall, the operations don't fail.
For instance, the OTA updates seem to have been blocked, the ad services have been blocked and I was able to install Gmail.
Ultimately, any way to get the Google Play store installed?
Ok, I solved my own problem but for anyone that might have a similar problem, it was definitely the fact that the /system and /system/app folder for some reason, wasn't mounted as r/w after the root.
Solution: I downloaded the apk, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.mount_system&hl=en , which is a "mount system as rw" app (lol - go figure!), and voila!! SUCCESS!
I was then able to install the Google Play Store! So, as I suspected the fact that it was r/o, even after using KFFirstAide to root was what was preventing me from installing the Play Store.
And here's another site that really helps, if you can't download any apks or are trying to sideload something using an alternate method using your PC: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
tags: locked system folder, /system/apps, locked, read only after root, rw/ro, mount system, half root, incomplete root

UPDATE:
Also after updated to latest rbox prerooted rom i could install settings.apk.
/system/priv-app/Settings/Settings.apk chmod 644
Other things installed were busybox / xposed / daydream/Deskclock for changing picture screensaver to normal clock.
Due to the fact it is not in recent apps u might start it via firestarter or es file explorer.
please reply to this post if someone else has managed to get this also working.
--------------------------------------------------
For all that want to use the native Settings.apk.
just install this one:
put settings.apk somewhere on your sdcard. use any desired filemanager (i prefer es file manager) just klick on it and then on the button install.
it should work and visible in my apps and firestarter.

So how do you get this working then? Or have you just put this up randomly without testing or explaining the process? Cause I've tried pushing to all sorts of places & even resigned the apk but still as per usual nothing happening or even showing in the appsame section?
just copied it with es filemanager from sd card to System/priv-app changed permission and open it via firestarter.
also i tried about 8 different ones till i got the working one from custom nvidia shield 5.1 rom working.
only audio/language and developer menue wont open.
but i installed basic dreams and got rid off the wallpaper screensaver and replaced by clock.

i went thru the same thing of trying all different versions of settings.apk with no luck. I needed to enable location settings so watchtnt could work on my firetv. I ended up installing AnyLocation on both my ftv1 and ftv2 and it works great. Ftv1 unrooted had to enable mock location settings thru adb, and the ftv2 rooted I could enable Advanced version in the app and it would enable mock settings for me.
Has anyone version for aftv 1? Thx!
So I am rooted, got android lost installed, the app that offers some useful features in case your phone falls into wrong hands. However I've been struggling to convert the app onto a system app in order to prevent it being wiped out in case the unfriendly fellow performs a system wipe.
All attempts to convert this app and any other app into system app fails with error message 'no space on system storage' I've tried this using apps2sd, link2sd, root essentials and all failed annoyingly.
Is there any specific way to get this done on Android 11 on the OnePlus 9 series. I've had no issues doing this on my 7pro, 6T and OnePlus 8.
The op9 have dynamic partition with a where so far (system, vendor, system-ext) are write-protected. if you want to install an app as a system app you have to do it with magisk modul app systemizer and a therminal
That's extremely helpful. But after installing the module. Can you help with any specific method making an app a system app? I am kinda stuck on what to do after installing the module. Thanks a million.

Thanks a million bud. I got everything now. However I still couldn't systemize the app I wanted. The current version 17.5, is it compatible with Android 11?

Here's what happened. The Magisk module Systemize lost support from the original dev. You can no longer on Android 11 and up select the app from the list(because it doesn't list of does list but is random characters instead of names). HOWEVER, you can download the app APK from APKmirror.com or other sites, find the file path and copy it e.g. /sdcard/download/yourapp.apk go to Systemize in terminal by opening terminal and typing
Su
Systemize
(Select option 3) 3 - Systemize given apk
Paste the file path of the downloaded apk
Choose if you want system or priv-system
Voila

-install the app the normal way
-copy it's folder from data/app to somewhere you remember
-rename it to something clear with no space like "lost" (also rename the apk inside)
-uninstall the app
-open Mixplorer or any file explorer and give it root access
-go to system/app and paste that folder and give it 755 permission
-reboot
if still not work use the recovery file manager to paste on system/app (after mounting system)

System folder is read only. You use the Magisk module to Systemize. See my above post
