Wifi issue - rooted - warranty - 8.4 pro - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hey guys
I am tired of Wifi Disconnections on my 8.4 - it seemed to disconnect constantly, ( showing me connected to XXXX all the time )
I have rooted the device and using custom rom
Now, I filled out the online warranty form for Samsung, its free UPS - for repair now
1) Does anyone have a full proof ( s/w fix ) for Wifi issue
2) How do I unroot and make it so that Samsung cannot detect the root and still fix under warranty
3) Any other advice or has anyone done this?

Did you have that issue before running the custom ROM . it might be ROM related

this could help for your second question:
- install Triangle away and execute it
- download your original firmware: http://samsung-updates.com/
- flash with odin (check NAND Erase All)
that helped for my "old" Galaxy Tab 3 8".
It looks like out of the box now.

You cant do anything to hide the fact you rooted it. Unless you used the new method, the warranty flag was set to 0x1 and nothing can reset it.

[Q] Verizon Note 2 Rooted - Wish to Unroot (Used Adam's Guide for Bootloader)

I used Adam's guide to bypass the bootloader as I have the newer version and probably already had the OTA update.
I want to unroot my device now. Do I strictly use odin and the stock file?
When I boot into download mode here are my stats.
SCH-I605
No
Samsung Official
Custom
This does mean that it has voided the warranty.. correct?
I'm ok with just getting back to stock. I don't want to risk getting bricked trying to use triangle away to reset the counter.
What's the best path to get back to stock at this point?
I know I should have found this somewhere but I've been reading SO many forums here and it's confusing after you have the OTA update.
Your counter is not raised so you don't need triangle away. Thats all I can help.
There is a different forum for verizon note 2 so look there.
People here would probably not be able to help you much because verizon version is a lot different then international version.

Oops. I put it in the wrong place. Thanks for the response! That's good news if my counter hasn't changed. I know the status of shows modified on my settings, but oh well.
Flashing Stock ROM with Odin will unroot device
if needs you can wipe cache and data to make status Normal
If you want just status -Normal without unroot, try this
Setting - Application manager - All - SysScope - clear data
do same with Enterprise SysScope if available

I flashed I605VRLJB_I605VRALJB which was the stock I think I needed for Verizon 4G LTE Note 2. Not sure where I would do the wipe cache and data. It shows the status as modified under my settings. If it's too difficult, I'm not that worried. If my warranty is void, maybe it will teach me to take care of my phone. Lol

I did Adams Casual Verizon 1 click root with recovery months ago now I want to return to stock to do the OTA update that's been a defer nag. I'm tired of deferring it. How do I return the phone to stock, I tired of searching for the right forum or u-tube vids for a simple straight forward step by step procedure. Right now I have the I605VRAMC3 Build. Someone please advise, this is my 3rd GN2 and I don't want to brick it again. The 1st one I bricked and the 2nd replacement, the phone just stopped sending/receiving data. Then can I run the 1 click again to re-root?

[Q] 4.3 official, need to root without tripping KNOX

Hey, as my Note II is still under warranty for a long time, I'm looking for a 100% sure way to root without my files getting lost and the KNOX counter going up.
Right now:
Fully stock Note II running 4.3 (N7100XXUEMJ9, updated via Kies)
What I want:
Rooted stock ROM and stock kernel, just to use apps that require root access.
Warranty not void
Thanks!

I have PM'd a few Mod's who had closed threads concerning rooting without tripping knox, who from their post history at least, looked like they where in on the discussion on whats going on.. Nothing back from any of them yet (even asked for direction to the proper thread to get updates)
Sadly, as the last thread I saw was closed on NOVEMBER 6th due to IMEI and HTTP concerns, there have been 4 new release's for the Kingo software, and yet I cannot find a single XDA thread (admittedly 20min~ is about my limit for the site search engine) about if any of those 4 updates resolved the issues XDA had with the root tool...
I desire to simply remove the bloatware, not void my damn warranty... screw you Samsung for disabling the DISABLE feature for BLOATware...

[Q] Is it possible to use ANY app in multi-window mode if NOT rooted?

Hi all
On my Note 8.0 (which is rooted) I can choose any app on my device to be used in multi-window mode.
Can I do the same on the 10.1 2014 without rooting? If I DO have to root, is it more complicated than the Note 8.0 to root? (hearing all sorts of things about risky rooting thanks to KNOX)
Thanks!

From what I know you have to be rooted to be able to choose what apps you want in multi Window. And no rooting is easy as hell just look in forum on how to root. It took about 5 seconds to root.

You can always buy from best buy and get the warranty from them and if something goes wrong just smash the screen and bring it back. With there warranty they will replace it for free.

you should be fine if you root then put recovery on then make a back up.The stock firmware is very easy to put on with odin so there shouldnt be any problems unless you get a defective one.

I tried that but couldn't get it to work...

Did my device change identity? Apps not available and device gone from play store.

So this is odd.. Since yesterday a few things happened:
-If I search for apps I have in the play store, I cannot find them. Search results turn up VERY little results.
-If I search for 1 app specifically and click the app icon (so not searching by text field) it says the app is not compatible with my device.
-If I do the same with apps I already have, it says my device is not compatible with this version of the app (even though I have it!)
-My device is gone from the google play store website..
-If I go to my apps in the play store, about 15 of my 200 actually show up, the rest is gone.
I already cleared Google Services Framework yesterday, and after a night, still not fixed..
Now what?
I was planning on flashing a new rom today, will that auto fix it? Because I don't want to flash the new rom, if after that I cannot use the play store to find all the apps I have right now..
Which rom are you running at the moment?

Stock with built in root (also stock recovery). Had it for at least a year now without updating, but I felt it was time for kitkat.
Wow this sucks. I did this, the ultimate wipe and reboot 1 second after:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377514
And after rebooting, my play store keeps getting the same error "no connection". On wifi and 3g even though my internet browser works fine. So I guess that made it worse.. Going to try this now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273994
Didn't work, still no connection.
Now rebooting after deleting play store data.
Will the new rom flash solve this anyway? If so I'll just do that.

No I wanted to do that today but I won't if I can't install my apps after that.
I'm on 4.1.2 and my device name is still correct.
Not easy to predict and give a guarantee, but on the other hand: what to loose if you already have those problems?
I would give a try.
Not to forget the most important thing: If you update, you will get knox-enabled bootloader, so you could loose warranty by Samsung with rooting your device.

Yes comes with knox but not enabled so there is no knox counter saying warranty void 0x1.
All custom roms come deknoxed, nothing to fear about knox.
BTW: Knox is in fact only an application to run on business devices of companies. No use and importance for private users.

I'm not planning on updating any time soon and I want 4.4 doesn't REALLY matter which rom.
Can you advise me which rom is most done atm? So I don't have to update in a month again?
Most roms are still in development and change their bases as soon as new firmware is available.
Many of them deal with new S5 features and also Note 3 goodies are inbuilt.
It is totally your choice - not mine - what you need and prefer :good:

[Q] Unrooting and returning note 4

Hi guys after a week of testing note 4 I'm returning my Note 4 and getting Note 3 back biggest dealbraker is the Sprint Spark no voice and data at the same time.
My question is how do i unroot it so there is no super U or TWRP I'm using the stock rom that came with the phone I just want to do the factory reset and return the phone. The ppl that will take the phone back will not even know hot to get to recovery I expect. How do I get rid of the TWRP recovery?
To anyone out there considering the switch from 3 to 4 Don't Do It! its not worth it unless you just got money.
Thanks!
anyone that does not see the different between the 4 and the 3 must not understand much. Sayin'
The N4 is the best phone I have ever owned. I have used all the HTC Android phones and also most of the Samsung phones, including all the Note series.
In one of the root threads, there is a stock tar file to run via odin and your back to stock unroot.
Many should not assume and research the device before purchase. As it may have been a dealbreaker for you and others. Many have also known this prior to purchasing phone. And still paid to have one. Personal preference. .........

will this reset Knox? I heard that's once you have flashed the hardware is permanently changed, although I don't know if this is just reflected in the binary flag as showing 'custom'.
I"m wondering whether you can get warranty service or return a phone once you have rooted if you can't undo Knox. ?

This will not reset knox, but it will get you back to official unrooted with factory recovery. I've personally had a rooted phone serviced at a corporate sprint center with no issue's. But some places care whole others don't, hope this helps.

As far as my store goes, we don't check to see if it was rooted or not as long as you're within the 14 day return policy and there aren't any damages to the phone.

In a word... YES! When you go back to stock, re-root, install the right recovery... If you still have write to external SD card issues, search "sd fix" here on XDA, run it and you'll be good to go.... Hope this helps...

I completely agree, it's by far the best!! I went from a LONG list of HTC's --> Note 2 --> Note 3 --> Note 4. Im shocked everytime I hear/read someone say that Note 3 --> Note 4 isn't much of an upgrade. They both have a 5.7" display, and a similar overall size, but that's where the similarities end. Note 4 is an absolute beast and destroys every other phone that's available!
