Yup just did it and its rebooting.
Its under developer's option > Select runtime system > Use ART
Edit: After booting up the system with ART, the camera app immediately crashed. Whatsapp worked fine. The phone also got really hot when android was switching over to ART from Dalvik. Going to switch back to Dalvik when the phone cools down.

phone got really hot WHEN switching or after switching?

Its doing a lot switching to art ....
Here are some of the major new features implemented by ART.
Ahead-of-time (AOT) compilation
ART introduces ahead-of-time (AOT) compilation, which can improve app performance. ART also has tighter install-time verification than Dalvik.
At install time, ART compiles apps using the on-device*dex2oat*tool. This utility accepts*DEX*files as input and generates a compiled app executable for the target device. The utility should be able to compile all valid DEX files without difficulty. However, some post-processing tools produce invalid files that may be tolerated by Dalvik but cannot be compiled by ART.
So it its compiling every app you have on the phone to start on time instead of the little lag you get when opening some big apps.....so in reality your phone won't have to work as hard using art after the first time....

I wish i can benefit from those point you've pointed out. but unfortunately many of the LG doesn't work with ART and will crash when i attempt to load it up. for instance, the camera app stopped working after switching over to ART.

I think LG should fix the camera issue. I've had the same problem with G2 over year ago.
TA

That is the only thing the apps need to be updated to support art and soon 64bit

Switched to ART from day one. Not had a single problem. Camera and everything else I've tried works as it should.

Can somebody check benchmarks both on art and dalvik? It's weird to get worse scores right?

Same here...

Depends on some apps you use. Not all apps are switched to art yet. I use a few that don't work with art. It's still not supported

I tried switching to ART but the whole phone became extremely slow and laggy. Did any of you guys experience this? Should I leave it for a while to sort itself out?
Also, a lot of my installed apps disappeared from the launcher? Is this normal as the apps do not support Art or should they still show up?

The first reboot after the switch from Dalvik to ART took about 10 minutes for me. It depends how many apps you have installed, as it needs to pre-compile all of them. After that I didn't notice anything being slower or missing.
In theory ART should make it faster to start applications and should help with battery life as well, as it doesn't need to compile the apps on the fly as you start them. That's the theory anyway. I had ART on on my Nexus 5 as well from the beginning and none of the apps I've used misbehaved.

[Q] Anyone else notice some lag after the first few days? need help if you have!

So i've only had the phone for a few days and started noticing lag mainly in the settings yesterday.
It was buttery smooth the first few days until yesterday. I'll try to create a clear description of what is happening.
Everything in terms of hitting applications, sliding/switching pages, and browsers seems smooth but I'm getting doubts since settings have started lagging. So as of now, the settings menu is where I really notice the problem. What happens is I would press any of the choices such as display, sound, storage, etc and it would light up blue as a sign that I pressed it. Basically, the blue lighting stutters/lags as it turns into a deeper color and fades away proving that there is some lag. That itself is very irritating on such a powerful phone. The page also lags a bit as it's opening so it's obvious that it does lag. I don't understand why something as simple as settings might be causing this?
have any of you guys noticed this? I tried clearing ram, restarting phone, messing with dev options by changing animation and something else to .5x while enabling "force GPU rendering." I'm running stock touchwiz on baseband T889UVALJ1 if that helps. Keep in mind i'm not really tech savvy so try to suggest things in an easy to understand way please.
Any help is greatly appreciated and I hope you guys can help me fix my problem!
Been using it for the past 1 month plus and I do not have any lagging issues. I am on stock rom as well.
No lag either, been using the Note 2 for 2 months now. Check your apps with BetterBatteryStatts (too many backgroundservices runing).
No lag either. Did u install some crappy apps that run backstage

Thanks for the replies so far and before I spend some money on apps or what not, is there any way I can post a 5 second animation of what is happening? Kind of like a 5 second gif of my screen? A mix of a screenshot and video so like a screen vid? Are there are any apps that can do that(preferably free). I'll try to find an app that can do that in the meantime and will edit if I find something useful.
Edit: No idea what this is or how it ended up on my phone but could this be the culprit? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tgrape.android.radar
People say it's bloatware and s-suggest from samsung but i'm not sure why it would be shown as an app on the play store website
I have noticed the phone can lag a bit if you have a heavy live wallpaper running.
Just sharing my thoughts on this
did you modify anything? no lags on my N2.
normally i'd say if you leave your phone on for a few days in a row, clear the memory every once in a while (press and hold home, go task manager, ram tab, clear memory) or reboot it, just so you dont have anything residual in your ram.
when android sees that you have 2gb of ram, it doesnt auto kill as many apps as it would if you were to have only 1gb of ram (my note 1 autokilled sooooooo frequently that it was annoying), so your ram ends up getting filled with some apps that you only used once in a while.

I wrote that I tried clearing ram and restarting phone but it didn't help. Thanks for trying though
Yeah, I get a bit of lag here and there, specially if I haven't cleared running/background apps in a while.
I just do it from the task manager, and also check out what apps are using the most battery, and possibly therefore are some of the likely culprits.
I actually use this app called Carat, which is an "Energy bug detector app" (whatever that means), but it helps identify apps that are draining the battery, and incidentally, partially contributing to the lag.
Also obvious thing like live wallpapers or touchwiz in general (including all the 'special' Samsung features like smart rotate, smart stay, smart motion) probably add to it to. Nova launcher and a static wallpaper might help.
I'll try to post a video sometime soon showing the lag. It's not serious lag, but it does stutter and lag a decent amount compared to my first few days which is what sucks.

You can try enabling Force GPU rendering in developers options. That usually helps with that, or at least it seemed to in my case. Report back if it actually helped
quick update:
I found a vid and my lag basically looks like this http://youtu.be/0qyijcTeHcU?t=2m27s
Look at when he clicks on display, there is clearly some lag even if it is half a second - 1 second. I'm almost certain that my lag is even worse than that, but not by too much. It's just a pain in the ass after the first few days. Would flashing a custom rom like jedi X 7.2 help out with this since it's running a bravia engine?

Tips on getting rid of lags

I have had my European G3 for a couple of days and what's getting me off is the small (and sometimes bigger)
lags here and there. Its probably mostly up to LGs skin a and apps but I rather not starting out using Nova because I think the functions are pretty good.
Right now the darn keyboard is lagging precisely that the ripped variant did on my M8, darn lag....
Anyone got any tips. So far I've tried:
1. Reset. Works for a while ...
2. Root n freeze n grenify. Well, it's lagging
So? Anyone with the same experience and maybe a fix?
Edit. I think I've got some of of the lag away.
So far I've tried the following:
1. Root
2. Greenify
3. Changed read ahead etc with trickster
4. Changed minfree and applied som launcher tweaks
5. Developer settings stuff
6. Other than that adfree, probably at a cost
The launcher and apps is now feeling a bit snappier and the battery should not be worse at least.
In developer's options either scale animations to 0.5 or off completely, see if it works

Weird. I haven't gotten any lags or stutters with mine.
Only bug happened was when I wake the phone it instantly locks it again. So I just restarted it and everything is fine.
Maybe try swiftkey? It's free and I love it with my Note 2 - especially the ability to control how long a long press is for numbers etc. Let me know how it is if you do, since I plan on using it with the G3.
Also, maybe something like Greenify will help hibernate more background processes and make it heat up less and free up the CPU?
I find lag on first day of use. Didnt install any app yet.
I think it was way over bloated with carrier app. Try disable a few with titanium backup. It seemed to help alot in my case.

UK D850? I don't think thats a thing. The UK versions should be the international (EU) versions the LGD855, which towelroot works to root the device.
You can't do anything to get rid of it.
Best case scenario is future updates by LG will improve performance, but no one can know for sure.

I guess you haven't used an S5. That thing is ridiculous.
After using my LG G3 a couple of days I'll say it lags about the same as the S5 did before the first two updates. You have to give it to Sammy, they did try to fix it pretty quick. The problem is more that their ui lags in the first place.

Art vs dalvik going back and forth

Is there anything wrong switching back and forth between ART VS DALVIK?
IT seems that some games won't operate properly in one or the other.
That said I notice that I cannot install real racing 3 from the play store. In fact if I search for it. It does not show up. If I click a direct link for it it says my device not supported.. Any ideas?

Maybe the game doesn't officially support our resolution.
For some apps that don't want to install via play store I install them through Amazon app store, but that's only if they are also available on there because it doesn't do some of these "officially" supported checks.

Same here. After switching to ART, every time the phone is rebooted, it optimizes apps.
ART runs better for me.
Dalvik should have better compatibility.
I know some games simply don't work with ART, they FC immediately. Developers probably won't update it until L is out for a while.

[Q] ART or Dalvik?

Well, there is an option in Developer Options to select either the old, trusty Dalvik cache or the new, snappy Android Run Time. I'm kind of inclined to select ART, since it promises faster response time... but I wanted to check with you folks to see what YOU decided to use.
So which do you prefer? And why? And have you encountered any issues? I'm using the Developer Edition, rooted with deodexed stock ROM.
ART seems buggy right now. I'll use Dalvik until android L

Using ART and everything is great. But ever since I had an update for S Health my phone must optimize 83 apps and it takes a good 5 minutes until I see my lock screen. Haven't tried to use S Health yet but it had FC on me a few times when trying to open it. Should I wipe the app's data and then reboot? Other than that I have seen nothing but positives from using ART.

I completely forgot that 4.4 brought ART along with it. Just enabled and yes the initial boot took a while because it recompiled apps from JIT to AOT.
I havent noticed any major slow downs besides right after first boot since then it has been fine. I wonder what this will do for battery life.

How to prevent Android from killing apps?

So, I have this issue, where most of my apps can't stay in recent apps overnight. They all get killed, all but 5 I have noticed. I did the battery optimization thing for all apps I use on a daily basis. I have edited build.prop file and added sys.keep_app_1=com.whatsapp and so on for the rest of my apps. I also did that in the local.prop file. None of it worked. How to prevent my phone from killing apps overnight?

If you are rooted you might try the app LSpeed and use one of the build in RAM profiles.
I am rooted. OK, I will try it. Thanks. It shuts my app very VERY aggressively. For instance, I was watching some youtube video yesterday, and in the other app I was searching for some products and was going back and forth between YouTube and Google Chrome, and every couple of times it restarted YouTube app, even though I was using it 2 minutes ago.

Well, then you probably need a custom rom. Android One is known to be optimized for dumping non needed tasks. You could try to disable battery optimizing for the apps you would like to stay alive.
Tried that too, didn't work.
My previous phone was 2Gb running android 6. Now i have a mi a2 life 4Gb and it is OK except for 2 games.
Apparently there's some AI that learns what you use but after many weeks no change.
Most apps open pretty fast. It's only these 2 games that I run daily. Annoying to have to wait for them especially since the old phone was able to keep them cached.
I tried the low-memory config (magisk module) but it didn't help. I guess android has changed its algorithm. I'm resigned to it.
It's insane. What's the point of having 4, 6, 8 or 10GB of ram if you can't use it?!
Connect it to a monitor, install Taskbar app and SecondScreen app, enable Freeform windows and turn your phone into a mediocre PC. Assuming you can get all the resources back from OS's hidden service threads of course.

Android 10 has a known problem. Rebooting helps. For how long seems to vary. I get a week or so, some people only get a day.
I had the same problem when I was unrooted during the Android 10 update crash. After rooting and installing Lspeed again, Android is not killing apps anymore as I set these settings
