[Q] Camera Shutter Sound - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I bought a Korean version of LG G3 (F400K10e) and it has annoying camera shutter sound as default.
I have tried so many methods and I still can't turn the camera shutter sound off.
Below is the ways I tried (rooted):
1) Rename/Remove shutter sound file in Media/UI folder - not working
2) Tried to find camera shutter sound code in feature.xml - but I can't find any code regarding shutter sound
3) Tried to find code in build.prop - but can't find any as well
3) download 3rd parties apps (required root) to mute camera - not working
It seems like shutter sound control is set in LG Camera apk file..
Any one can help or guide how to make this tweak?
Please helpppp....

Have you tried xposed, then GravityBox [KK] ??
or some other G2 Xposed....
G2 Tweaksbox, G2 skintweaks, XBlastTools?

no way. you must root G3 and replace LGCamera.apk with patched or from D855 model one. And D855 ROM is not avail yet. So, be patient

This is one of the reasons behind why manufacturers have to differentiate their products specifically per geographical regions instead of just throwing a single one for all globally. It is a restriction, a legal requirement in many countries. Similarly, afaik the G3 has call recording capability/feature in korean model, but only there, devices made for other regions are not sporting that feature. As to camera shutter sound, it can be set to off in European models, this is the case in phones sold in Europe, so I think it would be the same with G3 too.

To disable the shutter sound please follow the steps
1. Backup or delete those sound files from ROOT:\SYSTEM\MEDIA\AUDIO\UI
af_failure.ogg
af_success.ogg
cam_snap_0.ogg
camstart.ogg
camstop.ogg
shot_snap.ogg
snd_loop.ogg
2. Unzip attached sound files and copy back to ROOT folder ROOT:\SYSTEM\MEDIA\AUDIO\UI
View attachment 2839578
3. Change permission to rw-r--r--

Should be more to silence the continuance shot?

Install xposed framework, then the g3 tweaksbox.
The tweaksbox has a Camera section, which includes turning off camera sounds

There are multiple apps that works well with our phone.
In my opinion, the problem lies within the use of BT headsets.
I have tested most of the available call recording apps, but so
far none of'em records BOTH ends of the conversation. Only
the other participant. It's a friggin' nag, but unfortunately it
seems to be unsolvable. I have asked around here on XDA
more than once, but no one has come up with a solution.
Anyway, test the "ACR" app out, for instance. It's good.
Please report back if you manage to get it working...

Does not work with Omega v20 and not work with Phoenix 16.7
I use an Xposed Module for the Exposed installer app called "EnableCallRecorder [1]
It works on the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 AND Galaxy Note 2 4.3!
Works great.
You must be rooted if this is a problem.
Well, I repeat that I strongly suspect the same result as always;
only the far side gets recorded when using BT headsets?
I searched through the whole thread, to get a positive from
anyone, that both sides were recorded via BT, but nothing.
Can ANYONE CONFIRM that it either works, or not?
In xposed module use call recording module it works and automatic call recorder app also work smoothly in blue tooth also
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
to get a decent recording at line level, choose either:
1. ROM patch to enable both way call recording
2. Use Xposed framework & enable both way call recording.

I am (of course) rooted.
Xposed installer + EnableCallRecorder Module installed
Still only the other side of the conversation gets recorded.
One thing though (@you, xbean); there is no option in xposed framework
to enable "both way recording". Only option is to enable recording module.
If you guys tell me both way recording via BT is possible, I guess it's true.
However, I cannot understand how to make it work, on my own Note II...

That's strange.

Yes, it works flawlessly. Until I use it with a BT headset. *Arrgh*....I give up.....
Anyway, thanx for the input, guys!
The enable recording in Xposed framework will enable both way or line level recording. I used both way, bcoz we can get one way recording out of stock ROM. Suggest you to run through checking to ensure you have installed the Xposed framework correctly & update to the latest version.

Any more suggestion is welcome.
I'll try this program : Galaxy Call Recorder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oduzhar.galaxycallrecorder&hl=fr
after trying many, it is very difficult to find one that works properly, so with a clear record on both sides.
I invite you to look back on the programs you use and especially the settings.
Regarding my best result was with ACR 7.4 and setting on Voice Call.
we hear the other person very well but our voice is weak.

[Mod][KK][LP] True Stereo Mod for LG G2 [All Variants]

This mod is brought to you by @langeveld024, vPro97 and roboMr.Burns! If you like it, make sure you thank one of their posts as well
Surround Sound/True Stereo MOD for the LG G2
TO INSTALL THIS MOD ON LOLLIPOP: USE THE MANUAL INSTALLATION METHOD! THE APP IS ONLY FOR KITKAT.
This MOD requires ROOT
What is this?
This is an app that allows the phone to use the earpiece in combination with the loudspeaker to play sounds and music, thus resulting in a true stereo-like effect. The app has a set of modified mixer-paths.xml files which are used to enable the true stereo mod and gives you he option to choose between clockwise (cw) rotation and counter-clockwise (ccw) rotation of the device, depending on how you normally rotate your device.
Is it safe?
Yes, but make a backup before starting. I've been thoroughly testing it on my LG G2 running OptimusG3 1.4.1 and CloudyG3 2.1, Pardus HD Sensation Black and Stock. I tuned the sound to what I think the earpiece can handle without getting damaged. The earpiece is very clear and produces wonderful sound, but it's not that loud at all.
Other members of this fantastic community have tested the MOD on LiquidSmooth 4.0 (Lollipop) and on Stock LG firmware and reported that it works flawlessly! So yes, at this stage, it is safe to say that is
Installation instructions
1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP - or make sure you know how to get your device back to a working state in case it gets stuck in a boot loop!
2. Install the Mixer App and grant it root permissions.
3. You will be greeted by the following interface:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Choose whether you want CW or CCW rotation. If you normally rotate your device to the left (so that the earpiece is on your left side), choose CCW. NOTE: For CloudyG3 Users you choose the opposite of this.
If you normally rotate your device to the right, so that the earpiece is on your right, choose CW. (CCW for CloudyG3 users!)
3. Press enable Stereo and reboot your device.
General piece of recommendation - Use this mod in conjunction with dorimanx kernel, as dorimanx kernel allows you to tune the loudspeaker volume easily using STweaks. You may need to turn down the volume quite a bit (-11 in STweaks makes the sound very balanced) to avoid the loudspeaker overruling the earpiece. But then you'll really notice power of this mod, cf. this picture:
Test the mod
To test if this works see: Left/Right Stereo Audio/Visual Test.: http://youtu.be/dvqbq_0jZ_U
I don't like this, what do I do?
Open the Mixer App again and tap the "Disable" Button. Reboot and you're good to go!

1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP - PLEASE! Please make a nandroid so you can restore your phone in case it goes sour! I may be able to provide a flashable zip in the future, but till then, make a nandroid!
2. Copy your current mixer_paths.xml from /system/etc to somewhere safe then download mixer_paths.xml.
3. Move it to /system/etc and give it 644 permissions. 644 permissions looks like this:
xxo
xoo

If you use dorimanx kernel and tweak the loudspeaker volume to - 10, you will get an idea of how loud it gets =)
It can't get as loud as the loudspeaker but it's definitely loud enough for every day usage.
Currently on CM12 with Render Kernel and using Mixer14.apk, and it is not working. Both CW and CCW is not producing sound in the earpiece and the loudspeaker is as normal.
Before there was the mixer app, there was the mixer-paths.XML which we used to replace the one in /system/etc/ . During that time, media playing works perfectly with stereo, but during phone calls, the earpiece is set on a permanent high volume and cannot be set down, so it was impossible to put the phone to the ear.

[Q] How to disable camera shutter sound

In the past I have either had rooted phone or I have used tasker to silence my camera. Then I got my G4 and I cannot get the stock camera to go silent using tasker. It wont activate the profile when using normal app setting in the profile app selection menu. When I use apps and services from the same menu it works but keeps the profile active all the time. When using the same profile on Google camera it works like it should. What am I missing or doing wrong?

Yeah but that works but I normally use Tasker to automate it. But somehow Tasker wont activate the correct profile when stock camera app is opened. Google cam app works fine and activates the profile that makes the phone go silent but stock one wont activate the profile at all if I do not check services as well as apps from tasker and then it wont go back to normal after closing the camera.
Gotcha. Hmm. That's the only way I've ever done it without root or custom ROM.
I dont know has LG done something to the stock app so it wont be recognised correctly by Tasker or what is the reason it wont work as usual.
Only way that I got it to work even partly is making a Tasker task that silences the phone, opens the camera app and then waits for a minute or something similar and then resets the sounds to normal. Not optimal but works at least for now. And I dont remember if Iyou can make a task variable that waits until I close the camera app and then resets the sound settings. If that worked it would work almost as good. Only problem is that when launching from camera shortcut it wont silence the camera.
my phone is On vibrate mode and the camera also no shuttering sound
I have tried everything from vibration and also setting for no interruption still there is shutter sound any solution? Thanks.

I have got h818n dual sim. Indian version.

Anyone with a working solution until root? I would have thought this would have morre interest in users.
I just found out that it isn't the Ringer sound that matters, it's actually the Notification sound. Found out using the Volume Control + app (or any app that can separate the Notification sound from the Ringer).
Maybe you could do a Tasker action for the Notification sound..?
W.Z.
Won't help as Tasker does not recognize when camera app is open
Sent from my LG G4
Okay, maybe a on/off-switch for the Notification sound then? You'd have to push two buttons, but better than nothing....

Agree, nobody seems to have mentioned it in the photo thread so apparently there are workarounds for some variants.
I would not feel comfortable with the camera sound at all. its the first thing i switch off. And usually (with other devices) there is a simple setting to do that.
I just use my Tasker shortcut with timed silence and it works ok but does not work with any of the LG's own camera shortcuts.

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/oneplus-ltd/oneplus-camera/oneplus-camera-3-0-13-release/
Since I am a noob with Android development. I'm unsure on how to make modifications to a APK file
Please also share any info on how to do this in right way so that I will follow the same to modify the APK
Thanks in advance!

I have read that this is due some country regulations

Updated to open beta 23, shutter sound is still there even if it's turned off in camera settings
I tried to take off sim and rebooted device without sim. Shutter sound feature in stock oxygen os camera app works normal.
As soon I reinsert sim. Camera has shutter sound back even if it's disabled in it's settings
Appreciate If someone please guide me in how to remove the sound from apk in stock oxygen os camera and reinstall the modded apk without camera shutter sound.

It's possible.. I am also having the same issue. Even if we turn off the shutter sound it's still there.
I believe it's a huge task for noobs like me to understand and remove the correct files from camera apk in order to get rid of shutter sound.
Rooting is a immediate option which will allow me to remove the shutter sound under media folder in system. Again it costs me my other work and banking apps
So far under root I have faced issues with all of my banking apps, Google device policy. Outlook, tez, especially Outlook and tez detect my device as rooted at random times even I had them added in magisk hide
Please let me know your suggestions on using pie without the annoying shutter sound in oxygen os camera
On other side, If I have to root. I look forward to hear from people and their experiences in running apps like tez and Outlook in their rooted devices
Thanks to OnePlus for fixing the shutter sound bug in last stable 9.0.4 release. I'm back to unrooted with locked bootloader. Everything is working great..

Camera Shutter Sound

Anybody knows how to disable the camera shutter sound besides muting the phone? I don't have the disable shutter sound button in the camera settings, seems only Snapdragon version has this feature. Thanks in advance
Yeah it's in Camera settings. Turn it off in there.
The problem is there's no option in the camera setting to disable the shutter sound.

if you are using the exynos version of s20 and it's rooted, you can try my little magisk module. it offers some csc features like camera shutter menu.
I'm using it on my s20 ultra, but should also work on s20 and s20+.
let me know if its working for you.
but remember I'm not responsible for any damage on your device!!!
It's in camera settings for me, at the very bottom of the main settings menu there's a switch.

It works for camera, but cant open anymore magisk modules page (canary) (app close)
I will try safe mode to disable it and confirm it because of it.
I hoped to have app protection, the menu appeared, but i guess app is missing, could you add it?

Edit : cant access module page from magisk even in safe mode ... any idea ?
Edit 2 : found it in /data/adb/modules and deleted it. It works now for module page... could you fix it ?

Exynos or Snapdragon?
try turning off the system volume, if you don't need it
I don't have the option to turn off the shutter sound in the camera app but muting system volume works, which means all other system related sounds will be muted

Thanks for the advice. Will muting the system volume mute notifications sound as well?

No, just system sounds (I think this includes charging, low battery, and the like)
Go to sounds and vibration > volume, then slide system all the way to the left

@m8980 I added the APK in your zip file, modifying module.prop to activate the APK, and it works, I have the application working in Advanced function menu !
But still, the module breaks magisk module page... :x

Actually it seems to be only with Magisk Manager Canary version.
I installed stable version, and module page works.
Edit : Many thanks because now we have AppLock working with your module and AppLock apk added
what does applock mean?

You can lock access to apps with pin/fingerprint
It needs the APK to be installed in /system/priv-app/AppLock as I did in the modified zip uploaded above

Edit : I don't know why some ROMs have this AppLock function and some other don't. I don't know if there is an S20 ROM with this function yet, but I found the AppLock APK (Android 10+) on apkmirror and this AppLock function is part of CSC features since some years ago already.

If you are rooter and have Edxposed, you can use my Firefds Kit module that has the option to enable Camera Shutter Switch and a bunch of other usefull tweaks. It's verified to work on the S20

Actually, it works not so well.
I have it too, and yes it works, but after a reboot or something like that, the camera sound is there. I had to go in camera settings again to switch on/off the sound.
