Hi,
I am new and just installed Android ProjectAndroid2.2Froyo.112210 on my HTC Touch Pro 2 phone. Once I had the 3G connection with the Dutch KPN working but after a reboot of the phone, I can not manage to get it working again. Wifi and BT are ok except the 3G connection.
Did a 'to default reset' and tried several APN setting but none of them turn the 3G connection back to live.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Rick.
Does the cell radio function? In other words, can you make/receive calls/texts?
If yes, then the APN settings are a good thing to look at - also, do you have a 3g icon with up/down arrows next to the signal strength meter?
One other good question to ask - does your provider require a proxy to access the 'net?
Yes, I can call and recieve calls. Also sms messages are working fine.
The only thing which is missing is the G3 data connection icon and actually the datalink.
No, the provider does not need a proxy setting. As I wrote in my start, I had it working good but just after a reboot without any changes on the APN parameters, it didnt come back again.
Thanks for your reply Arrrghhh!

Hrm. May want to try with a new/fresh data.img. If you rename your existing data.img, a new one will be created during boot. See if it helps... unfortunately deleting that file has fixed so many odd issues, it's not even remotely funny.
Okay, I will give it a go when comming back from my trip next week.
I did remove all files a couple of times and re-installing the Android software but maybe not all data has been removed? At least it did not solve the problem.
By the way, could it be caused by having the system on the SD card rather than in the phone memory? And could it be related to the type of phone selected during boot time? I am using the HTC Touch Pro 2 and not selecting the Tilt-2 but the ?210 (forgot the name and the phone is off) due to the fact that the keyboard is wrong with the tilt-2 option.

Ehm, you can wipe your SD card all the times you want, but this won't solve anything if the APN is wrong or if your carrier requires user/pass, proxy or whatever else.
So first go check you actual APN configuration in WinMo, get a paper, copy it down piece by piece, then get back to Xdandroid and modify/create a new one, checking all the settings are properly set.
Have a nice trip.
@Wind,
your right but again, it has been working with a certain set of parameters but just after a reboot without any change on APN, the phone did not want to reconnect on 3G.
Thanks for your wishes. Will get back when I return.
do not use this version modules-2.6.27.46-01232-gb7033df.tar.gz , zImage-2.6.27.46-01232-gb7033df, change it.
@muziling,
I did update the phone with your advised release and re-started the phone again. No result. Due to low battery the phone went down and had to re-charge. When the battery was full again, turned on the phone and guess what, I had a 3G icon.
Just to be sure that it was not a lucky shot (but I was thinking it) I decided to reboot the phone again and ships.... the 3G icon did not show up again.
No change inwhatever parameter was made during the reboot session. This means that the 3G performance is intermittend and depeding on a certain condition which I do not know how to find. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I have a similar problem. After a fresh install, the 3G connection works exactly the first time, I boot into android. After a reboot, the 3G connection mostly does not work. I cannot figure out, which conditions have to be met, to get 3G working. Its just pure luck to me.
btw, I have a german rhodium.
try this version, it works perfect on my rhod400

Managed to get a HTC Desire for an absolute steal of a price as the seller had managed to forget his lock pattern and hadn't set up a google mail account to bypass the lock pattern. Having used Android phones before I knew that if I could just figure out the correct combination of buttons on startup I'd be able to reset the phones to factory settings and have a working phone.
So, I quickly bought the phone, figured out the "Power+Vol Down" combination and ran a factory reset from within that menu.
The phone restarted and I went through the setup and everything seemed fine, until I tried to send a text/make a call.
When I send a text message, I get the message sending failed error and it retrys various times before the phone finally gives up and stops trying.
When I try and make a call the phone just hangs for a couple of seconds on the dialing screen, beeps and cuts off (as though I have no signal).
I assumed that the phone had been blocked, hence the seller was selling it so cheap and he had come up with this story of locking it out, but after having a play I realised the internet was working perfectly and I had full HSDPA signal. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I'd have no sort of connection if the phone had been blocked by the carrier?
I assumed this was a software issue and have updated from 2.2 to 2.3 but still the same issue. After updating, I've also realised that I am unable to change network carriers (I'm on TMobile and they now share networks with orange).
My sim works perfectly in other phones and if I put another sim in the Desire, it still has the same issues. The phone is locked to TMobile (not that I think that would matter), running the official HTC 2.3 Gingerbread release and as far as I'm aware my APN settins are all okay.
If anyone could shed any light onto what is going on here, and hopefully to a fix then it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in adavnce

The global chip is only for international GSM cell connectivity- it doesn't work on normal Verizon CDMA bands. As far as the radio, you might try a complete wipe of data/cache/dalvik cache and flash your rom of choice again, since this isn't a widespread bug. Might just be something borked during the flash.
"No Service" meaning cannot make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls, SMS and data NOT working over mobile network, is that right? All the proper settings are checked as they should, device was activated & working before too .... and done the *228 or *22890 to program phone (again) & update roaming capabilities, and so on.
Did you get a recorded msg. that or see a prompt on the Inc2 that it cannot authenticate your phone, please try again later or call xxx xxx xxxx ?
If that's true, it meant that during the reset/flash process or wiping, that some of the security keys or codes were cleared & changed - the only way is to call that number (it's better to use another phone) and explain that you cannot make/receive calls after doing a Factory Reset and they will check, have you turn off & on the phone, do a few short codes (*xxxx, *xxx, etc.) to reset it whiie you are live, and then finally making a test call to verify upon success.
Take about 10 minutes - yes, I did that myself on the decommissioned Eris. VZW need to do certain things on their end in real time.
Cheers !

yes sir, i did *228 option 2 and updated my roaming, i'm using the 722 radio, i have mobile network checked. It said successfully updated my roaming and restarted my phone. I just did option 1, and it said it was successful and restarted.
Edit- i have 3G up and down arrow appear again, thats a good thing right? i still have no bars, i normally had about 3 in my area :3 should i update roaming again?
Edit2- It seems to be working good, if i have problems again should i do what you suggested and call them explaining it isn't working after a "reset" ? Thanks so much for the help.

Bing, Bing - Can you now make/receive calls, if so - you are good but if not, do this quick check next: open Settings > About Phone > Network and under Service state - does it say "In Service" or not.
Turn it off for 5 to 10 minutes, then turn it back on again. Check it again - it's possible for it to self authenticate (especially if it's a Sense ROM, non-Sense roms are more prone to these problems.
If still not "In Service" you will need to do what I suggested above, call them on another line with the Inc2 on - tech. support is available until midnight, last time I called them - they'll reset & fix it. Do NOT, repeat, do NOT, mention a word about rooting, custom ROM or flashing anything - as you know, you're just cycling your settings & it's not working now .... (kind of didn't ask, don't tell )
Hi
Just got my new Samsung Galaxy Nexus today, but it cant find a network and have no signal.
I have tried to search for network in settings, but it comes up empty.
In the "about phone" page under signal it says -113db and 0 asu (varies a little bit, but not much)
I'm in Norway using OneCall, on the Telenor network, but the phone cant find any network.
The simcard works fine in other android devices.
The phone was sold as unlocked/simfree.
It says "onecall" on the bottom of the notification bar when I pull it down.
There are also apn settings for my simcard (looks like they are read from the simcard)
Wifi works great, and I can't see any other problems than that it cant find a network, but that is kind of a big problem since it is a phone!
I have rebooted multiple times, three factory resets, and tried with another simcard, but no luck.
Anyone have a idea what to try? should I try a custom rom? or do you think its a hardware problem?
I just saw "Telenor" when I searched for networks, but when I tried to connect it said it couldn't connect, and now I cant find it again.
Seems like I just have the worst possible antenna! (or radio?)
What type of phone did you have previously? Maybe you need an updated SIM card?
A new SIM card has solved this type of issue for quite a few people so give it a shot!

But it works in other phones like the HTC Desire and the old Hero.
I just drove into town, and I got a few bars, could make phone calls and so on.
But back home it still cant find a network.
Which leaves me to believe that the antenna (or the radio) is bad.
Do I have to root it and install a custom recovery to install the stock rom again?
Or is there a "rescue" solution? like on HTC devices.
Works fine here. Test a custom rom or another radio or something.. If it not works go back to stock and return it. I bought a HTC once with a bad antenna.
same problem
what did you end up doing kjetil84? I have the same problem. at home I have like no signal, but other places I have a litle. I use Talkmore witch also uses telenor.
an update would be great
That happened to me once before, try doing a factory reset.
still a problem
Just tried a factory reset, and it did not help
I love the phone, but at this time its not usable for me
Verizon Incred2 - rooted
HBoot-6.13.1002
Radio-1.09.01.1111
I was using the "Incred 2 Mix" rom from MikMik forms without a problem for months. (not able to post outside like yet).
I did a factory reset today then wiped cache partition and wiped Dalvik cache then shut down. Pulled the SD card and copied a new rom (MikRunny-v1.01-DeOdex-signed) to it using my laptop and booted in recovery.
Installed rom from sd card and it booted up.. Now unable to place/receive any phone call. Even 611 to Verizon customer service wouldn't work.
After loading a few different ROMs with the same result, I found an update for the radio. I installed that update (.1111) via SD card and reprocessed every step above. At this point it would connect, show 3G and the internet works, but still unable to make or receive any phone calls.
Thoughts?
Why did you do a factory reset? This may be part of your problem.
Try reprogramming the phone (*228, option 1)
I can't dial any number.. *228 / *611 / even zero - it says calling.. then ~8sec later it drops the call and displays the "X" near the signal strength indicator. A few seconds later it shows 3G with the two traffic arrows, then signal indicator shows I have service again.
Remember that the back cover is part of your antenna. Just to check, you do have the back cover on right?
cant call
Yes, it was like he mentioned above: the factory reset did the dirty deed.
Here's how to fix it:
Phone - dial ##778#
entry code is six zeroes 000000
choose Home SID/Home NID
change from 2004/65535
to 2/65535
back arrow one time
hit menu symbol
choose commit modifications
it will reboot and that pesky x will go away and you can call successfully.
A reset changes the 2 to 2004, that's why this happened.
Well that does it.. I've officially obtained my own ID10T error.
Placing the back on fixed the issue. I must have been touching the contacts when I dialed and let go of them when I listened for a response. ROFL
Thanks.. that fixed it.

This was also an issue.. I had contacted VZW support and they walked me though this very fix.. the reset had put it at 242/65535 and they said to set it to 24/65535. But that still didn't fix my phone call issue. They ended up saying I'll have a new phone on Tuesday because they couldn't get it fixed.. ROFL. I'll call them on in the AM to cancel that phone and let tech support know to check the basics.
I love this place!
You have a weird hboot version. Mine ends in 97, and I never had any problems with any of his ROMs having no signal. Especially not mikrunny.
