NEW update 8/08
newest update here
newest Gapps
If you already have CM7 then wipe SYSTEM only and flash new zip and gapps
if not on CM7 yet continue down and follow steps
Download this stuff first and put it on SDcard:
1) z4root ([APP] z4root - xda-developers)
2)Droid 2 bootstrap (Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.5.apk)
3)Cyanogenmod7 for Droid Pro (cyanogen_venus2-ota-eng.jonathan.zip)
4)Gapps Optional (http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-mdpi-20110501-signed.zip)
5) RDS Lite (MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service)
6)SBF 2.26 (MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service)
This is the actual instructions:
1) SPF to 2.26 (no need for OTA) If you get a boot-loop pull battery then hold r+m then push power. In recovery mode do a factory reset. Then reboot.
2) Go through install process and get your network up and running, dont need to sign in to google
3) Install z4root ([APP] z4root - xda-developers) and get root
4) Install Droid2 Bootstrap (Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.5.apk)
5) Go in to recovery mode with Bootstrap
6) Do factory reset (i did it 3times to make sure)
7) Flash the zip with Cyanogen on it then if you want flash Gapps
8) Restart phone and enjoy CM7 and its greatness

I am thinking about getting the Sprint version of this: the XPRT. I have had an EVO for a year now, but the big screen/virtual keyboad is just not ideal for business use, which is all I really use my phone for.
That being said, I love custom ROM's. I noticed the lack of threads on the XPRT (which is really just the Droid Pro).
Any idea of this procedure for installing CM7 will work for the XPRT?

well it would probably work the same for you but you probably need to change it so it will work with sprint cause we are both on CDMA but GSM and the other one is for sure not working so no global use for now

Thanks for the info. The differences in network might be a problem, especially for global use. Any ideas on how to address this?
I bought an XPRT today. I already have it rooted. Love the physical keyboard. But I already miss custom roms.
Is there a way to return to stock from CM7?
No clue how to make it work on sprint I will ask around and we'll I heard if you made a backup before going to cm7 you can do that
But if your to scared to do it or did not you can just sbf like you did to get cm7
Edit: ok so from what i hear your xprt should work just fine with this rom no changes needed but with no sbf file for it there would be no turning back if you make a mistake or something so you would be best off to wait till a sbf comes out for it
Sent from my DROID Pro
I am curioius though if you can use Droid Pro sbf on XPRT. Has anyone tried it?
Sent from my DROID PRO using XDA App
I'm pretty sure you can't use our sbf and from what im hearing now it's probably best if you stay away from the rom for now

Thanks for checking around. I am going to wait tell something official comes along by someone who is used to doing these things.
For the time being, having it rooted and using a custom launcher is working well for me.
Thanks again for your help with this.

Build dates are Tuesday July 3rd 2012. Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. For the 8.2 and 10.1 Wi-Fi AND 8.2 and 10.1 LTE models.
WARNING: If you are on a Wi-Fi only Xyboard of any size, there are no known fastboot files for you. Meaning if there is a newer leak for ICS or the official ICS 4.0.4 for Xyboard Wi-Fi only is a higher version number, you are STUCK on this ICS unless fastboot files come out.
WARNING 2: If you are on ANY model of Xyboard, once ICS installs there is no going back to Honeycomb. Ever. Ever. Ever.
Now that warnings are out of the way... here are my install instructions adapted from andlaw's Sideload ICS thread on droidrzr.com:
Be on STOCK Xyboard latest Honeycomb update. No frozen apps. No custom recoveries, etc.
Install instructions are using ES File Explorer and Rom Manager (free) from the Play Store download these and be rooted on stock latest honeycomb.
open rom manager free, hit OK, now press the home button.
open es file explorer, press YES, press menu, open settings, scroll down to Path settings and under Root settings: Enable
Up to Root (path settings)
Root Explorer (root settings)
Mount File System (root settings)
"DOWNLOAD THE ICS UPDATE ZIP AND PLACE INTO YOUR PHONES /CACHE DIRECTORY (not /system/cache, but in the root of the phone ~/cache/)"
open ES FILE EXPLORER, locate your /cache directory and then select the Blur_Version.___.___.___.MZ6__.______.__.en.USzip (depending on your version of Xyboard and ICS leak)
(now choose Open With ROM MANAGER)
phone will restart, and begin installation of the ICS leak (takes 10-15minutes)
phone restarts, boot animation begins, Android is upgrading :: Profit success!! Celebrate!!!

Now onto rooting:
Connect USB to Xyboard and the Windows PC. Install the Motorola USB Drivers 5.7 or higher (found by an easy google search if you do not have these already installed).
On the notification menu set the USB Mode to MTP mode or Camera mode (basically anything besides USB Mass Storage)
Under Settings > Developer Options > Hit the "Enable USB Debugging" selection.
Run this after extracted the zip file: http://goo.im/apps/mattlgroff/DroidRazrRoot404.zip

Note from a nice user:
Hey man.. I'm HussX on other forums.. I don't have enough posts here yet to post in dev forums, but I have something you may want to edit in/sticky. If someone recovers their tab with the fastboot files, the cache size may show it doesn't have enough space to copy over the ICS leak. To fix it, they need to boot into recovery, wipe/format the cache, then reboot. It will then show up the right size and allow them to copy the file over to update. Thanks, dude.

I am hording nothing lol.
They are on mod2extreme.com I believe the site is, found by a google search or three.
I am uploading utilities (similar to my Droid Razr Utility) for the 8.2" LTE and the 10.1" LTE Xyboards for pre-paring sideload of these leaks and unbricking them, which include the FB files.

i had no idea the official fastboot files were out...
theres like 0 info on that site, do you know if those are official fastboot files?
i ask simply cause if they are just imgs someone pulled off the tab itself they will not contain the moto sig and would fail to flash.
Well I'm ready to jump on this... But uuuh... I literally JUST got my Xyboard back from Motorola lol
Any precautions I need to do before jumping into this? lol
And PS Last I checked those Fastboot files on Mod2Extreme, they were dead, I tried downloading them and they didn't work - could've saved me shipping my tablet to Moto!
Update: Installing... Engineer Android man is working!! Here's hoping :-D
Update 2: Success, ICS is SWEET!! Video is up on the Xoom General board!
First of all great job Matt...after all the neglect, I still want an 8.2 Xyboard. Perfect size IMHO.
Maybe now that an ICS leak is out and it sounds like this one is very stable, more development will get going for you Xyboard/Xoom2 guys.
Congrats!
This will not work with a german Vodafone 10.1 WiFi+3G device, am I right?
Thanks for the screenshots and the video, nice to see this progress.
Most likely not.
MZ616 the one you have doesn't have LTE(or 4g network) like MZ617.
You could brick it when the rom boots and sees no 4g hardware.
Well this looks cool for the xyboard! I kinda like the icons used in the settings too and those home actions as well. And with those new, smaller ics versions of the xyboard's soft keys may possibly make mine obsolete :silly: ...
By extracting some images from some system files from a xyboard, I was able to get the softkeys of the honeycomb xyboard and recolor them. Then I made them ICS-ready. looks brighter in real life... Now the xyboard actually has ICS softkeys!
Anyways great guide for helping the xyboard catch up a bit. It's only unfortunate because JB is coming out for the OG Xoom not to long from now. Nonetheless, this is a great leap for the xyboard! And like others have said, I hope this puts more fuel back into xyboard/xoom2 development!
Anyone tested this on the EU/UK Wifi only 8.2"? I'm wondering if it will work, it should practically be the same device as the US device; unlike the 3G vs LTE versions.

Hello all,
I was able to get a system dump of the 4.1.2 image for the DROID Xyboard for you guys to take a look at. Hopefully, this will open up the possibility for some JB ROMS for our aging Xyboard. Please note that this is for the Verizon LTE version only.

and for those who want to cherry pick, I kept the individual files in here:

I wish something could be done to the Xoom 2!

This toolkit is for 3 of the 4 Moto Quarks: "international" XT1225 Moto Turbo/XT1225 Moto Maxx (both are actually the same device -- just different model name for different part of the world) and the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 sold by smaller regional CDMA/LTE carriers (and is actually the same CDMA/LTE device as the XT1254 Droid Turbo -- EXACT same FCC ID but has unlock-able bootloader).
This toolkit does NOT work on the Droid Turbo XT1254 which has a bootloader that can not be unlocked. Currently the only way to root an XT1254 is to start with Kitkat 4.4.4 and use paid Mofo root. Then you can flash rooted Lollipop images from the development section.

Does this toolkit flash a newer version of TWRP than you posted? I remember a dev @Skrilax_CZ saying our current version of TWRP needed updating to 2.8.5 (from 2.8.1) to make compatible with cm12.
_______
EDIT: The answer is no, it doesn't. I flashed twice and it's still the 2.8.1.0 I had on the phone before.
But I still donated to the dev as it's a good toolkit.

Thanks for your donation! Do you have a link to the 2.8.5 build? If a device isn't officially supported, I spend a good amount of time searching XDA for the latest unofficial build, and the only TWRP build I found for the Maxx was here, which is the 2.8.1 build.

I upload the recoveries to my own cloud server here so I can have more fine control in case there's issues with certain devices, recoveries, etc. You can see each device and when it was updated here. I generally update the recovery for each device when I update the toolkit itself, but you can let me know of an update anytime and I'll upload it. :good:

Yes, @Skrilax_CZ does not use TWRP on his Moto Maxx efforts for CM12, because the TWRP we have is not yet compatible.

Guys I tried recompiling TWRP with newer sources and it just didnt work out of the box, I need to make ajustments and I don't feel that motivated yet, since I see lots of places using my work* without giving any kind of credits which is the least one can do.
*although I didnt do the developing work, configuring, compiling and testing takes a chunk of my time
Just remembering TWRP is open source so if anyone feels like, just do it yourselves. :good:

Respider,
I thank you for your efforts and time on the TWRP. Without you, we would have nothing. I don't see a donate link, so forgive me if I overlooked it.
I'll be in Sao Paulo area this July for two weeks -- Liberdade district and also a city just northwest of Sao Paulo, Itatiba. My wife is Brazilian. Probably won't get a chance to meet, but I'll be thinking of you!
If you do get a chance to look at TWRP again in the future, it would be great. :good:

Respider, I don't know much about programing, but I got time to spend on this, so could you point me somewhere with a tutorial to make things like that?
And thanks for your effort, dude. Means a lot. I'm trying (without success) to sell my Moto Maxx cause this phone don't have community support, which is very important to me. I do law school, so I know nothing about programing, but if I can do something to change this scenario I would be happy to help.

Doesn't look like anyone answered your question. So the answer is NO. It does not support the Droid Turbo. He even said "sorry" to Turbo users in the first sentence.
Why is this in the Droid Turbo section of XDA when its not for the Turbo. I am aware of the OP's mention that its not for the Turbo but was really excited to see the posts in the Turbo Threads. Shouldnt the Maxx have its own? Could cause confusion for noobs or people who do not read directions thoroughly.

Your question has been answered several times already. You just aren't paying attention. You also quoted the entire OP, which is silly.
The "Latin America" XT1225 Moto Maxx, "U.S." XT1250 Moto Maxx, "U.S". XT1254 Droid Turbo, and "India" XT1225 Moto Turbo are all Quark phones with identical hardware. The CDMA XT1250 Moto Maxx and CDMA XT1254 Droid Turbo are IDENTICAL phones with the same FCC ID, both sold in the USA by U.S. carriers. (It was a LIE that Verizon had any "exclusivity" on this phone. The name was exclusive, not the phone.) The XT1250 has a bootloader than can be unlocked and rooted, and it will work on Verizon's network if you stick in a Verizon SIM card.
So, that's why it's here. If the Droid Turbo ever gets unlockable bootloader and root like all the other Quark phones, it can use this tool also. Until then all the other Quark phones can use it.
All the Quark phones are here. Perhaps the forum should be re-named. Perhaps the "Development" sections should have separate sub-forums -- especially since the Droid can't be "developed" right now, but the "General" and "Accessories" are all identical because they are identical hardware. I'm using a Verizon Droid Turbo Tech21 case for my ballistic nylon + Kevlar Moto Maxx. But that's not our decision. There are appropriate places on XDA to request this or discuss how forums are organized or named.

[/COLOR]I guess I should have been more specific to the droid turbo section and droid maxx having there own sections of XDA like other phones with same hardware but different service provider. They might be same phones but I could see unnecessary time wasted trying to figure out why droid maxx is under droid turbo when the section is labeled droid turbo.
Alright guys, so I just learned how to root my note 4 by reverting back to kitkat then rooting. However, I would like to install cyanogenmod after that. Can I get some help on cyanogenmod size and how I flash it?
Do you have developer edition? if not you cannot do that
There is no root, only Zuul...
Why can't I root?

You CAN root, but no permenant changes can be made, and root is lost on each reboot. That's why there are no recoveries, kernels, ROMs, etc. ONLY the Developer edition models, that have unlocked bootloaders, will allow permenant changes, such as installing Cyanogenmod.
If you had to revert back to KK in order to root, you don't have a developer edition device.

I'm a little lost with the whole dev edition and what not, and I haven't installed a rom in forever. So, with that said, is this the dev edition of my phone? And if so, where do I start? I'd love Cyanogen mod, or really, any ROM other than stock. I want to get rid of all the bloat!

: There are two version of the Note 4, the Developer Edition which you can only buy directly from Samsung and the Retail Version which is sold by the carriers. The Developer Edition has an unlocked bootloader which allows you to install TWRP or other custom recovery, root and flash ROMs. The Retail Version cannot be rooted and you cannot install a custom recovery or flash ROMs. If you bought your Note 4 from Verizon I can guarantee it is not a Developer Edition.

I heard that Verizon did sell developer edition phones to those that went with the non-subsidized plans (which I did), but I can never seem to find real info on which is what. :\

Verizon maybe selling "SIM Unlocked" phones, but they are not selling Developer Edition Note 4s. They may also be selling Moto X Developer Edition phones or something like that. The only way to purchase a NEW Developer Edition Note 4 is directly through Samsung, and they are not offering any for sale at this point.

If your Note 4 doesn't have "developer edition" under the battery you have a retail edition and a locked bootloader.
