Build dates are Tuesday July 3rd 2012. Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. For the 8.2 and 10.1 Wi-Fi AND 8.2 and 10.1 LTE models.
WARNING: If you are on a Wi-Fi only Xyboard of any size, there are no known fastboot files for you. Meaning if there is a newer leak for ICS or the official ICS 4.0.4 for Xyboard Wi-Fi only is a higher version number, you are STUCK on this ICS unless fastboot files come out.
WARNING 2: If you are on ANY model of Xyboard, once ICS installs there is no going back to Honeycomb. Ever. Ever. Ever.
Now that warnings are out of the way... here are my install instructions adapted from andlaw's Sideload ICS thread on droidrzr.com:
Be on STOCK Xyboard latest Honeycomb update. No frozen apps. No custom recoveries, etc.
Install instructions are using ES File Explorer and Rom Manager (free) from the Play Store download these and be rooted on stock latest honeycomb.
open rom manager free, hit OK, now press the home button.
open es file explorer, press YES, press menu, open settings, scroll down to Path settings and under Root settings: Enable
Up to Root (path settings)
Root Explorer (root settings)
Mount File System (root settings)
"DOWNLOAD THE ICS UPDATE ZIP AND PLACE INTO YOUR PHONES /CACHE DIRECTORY (not /system/cache, but in the root of the phone ~/cache/)"
open ES FILE EXPLORER, locate your /cache directory and then select the Blur_Version.___.___.___.MZ6__.______.__.en.USzip (depending on your version of Xyboard and ICS leak)
(now choose Open With ROM MANAGER)
phone will restart, and begin installation of the ICS leak (takes 10-15minutes)
phone restarts, boot animation begins, Android is upgrading :: Profit success!! Celebrate!!!
Click to collapse
Now onto rooting:
Connect USB to Xyboard and the Windows PC. Install the Motorola USB Drivers 5.7 or higher (found by an easy google search if you do not have these already installed).
On the notification menu set the USB Mode to MTP mode or Camera mode (basically anything besides USB Mass Storage)
Under Settings > Developer Options > Hit the "Enable USB Debugging" selection.
Run this after extracted the zip file: http://goo.im/apps/mattlgroff/DroidRazrRoot404.zip

Note from a nice user:
Hey man.. I'm HussX on other forums.. I don't have enough posts here yet to post in dev forums, but I have something you may want to edit in/sticky. If someone recovers their tab with the fastboot files, the cache size may show it doesn't have enough space to copy over the ICS leak. To fix it, they need to boot into recovery, wipe/format the cache, then reboot. It will then show up the right size and allow them to copy the file over to update. Thanks, dude.

Sense it more likely to get a lot of questions here, I'll ask
You say no fast boot files for the WiFi only model,
Do you know something that we don't, are there files for the droid xyboard?
Are you hording the fast boot files for the droid xyboard? Lol

Its very clean and as always with ICS much smoother. And I'm looking into the new recovery hijack used for ICS kernel since the old gingerbread method didn't work

I am hording nothing lol.
They are on mod2extreme.com I believe the site is, found by a google search or three.
I am uploading utilities (similar to my Droid Razr Utility) for the 8.2" LTE and the 10.1" LTE Xyboards for pre-paring sideload of these leaks and unbricking them, which include the FB files.

i had no idea the official fastboot files were out...
theres like 0 info on that site, do you know if those are official fastboot files?
i ask simply cause if they are just imgs someone pulled off the tab itself they will not contain the moto sig and would fail to flash.
Well I'm ready to jump on this... But uuuh... I literally JUST got my Xyboard back from Motorola lol
Any precautions I need to do before jumping into this? lol
And PS Last I checked those Fastboot files on Mod2Extreme, they were dead, I tried downloading them and they didn't work - could've saved me shipping my tablet to Moto!
Update: Installing... Engineer Android man is working!! Here's hoping :-D
Update 2: Success, ICS is SWEET!! Video is up on the Xoom General board!
First of all great job Matt...after all the neglect, I still want an 8.2 Xyboard. Perfect size IMHO.
Maybe now that an ICS leak is out and it sounds like this one is very stable, more development will get going for you Xyboard/Xoom2 guys.
Congrats!
This will not work with a german Vodafone 10.1 WiFi+3G device, am I right?
Thanks for the screenshots and the video, nice to see this progress.
Most likely not.
MZ616 the one you have doesn't have LTE(or 4g network) like MZ617.
You could brick it when the rom boots and sees no 4g hardware.
Well this looks cool for the xyboard! I kinda like the icons used in the settings too and those home actions as well. And with those new, smaller ics versions of the xyboard's soft keys may possibly make mine obsolete :silly: ...
By extracting some images from some system files from a xyboard, I was able to get the softkeys of the honeycomb xyboard and recolor them. Then I made them ICS-ready. looks brighter in real life... Now the xyboard actually has ICS softkeys!
Anyways great guide for helping the xyboard catch up a bit. It's only unfortunate because JB is coming out for the OG Xoom not to long from now. Nonetheless, this is a great leap for the xyboard! And like others have said, I hope this puts more fuel back into xyboard/xoom2 development!
Anyone tested this on the EU/UK Wifi only 8.2"? I'm wondering if it will work, it should practically be the same device as the US device; unlike the 3G vs LTE versions.

I'm running the UK 10 Xoom 2. But I'm going to wait for the official OTA or the could be a leak coming from Europe closer it comes to our time.

can this be done using the a flashable note 3 rom ?
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880932541
Well i am not developer
But.i really wonder that what happens if note 3 rom flashed to note 2..
The leaked rom of 4.3 of note 2 has old kernel. So note applications are falling when its ported.probably because of old kernel.
But my question is what happens if note 3 rome is directly flashed to note 2..

I'm also not a dev. And I wondered that too. Then I thought... if that was even possible someone would have already done it by now, right? Still, maybe we all wait for someone to try it... So, feeling courageous? Go ahead and let us know if that worked. But don't blame me if u get ur device bricked or something.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Obviously you can't flash the note3 rom to note2 without modifying it. If it would even flash, your device would get bricked by the note3 kernel.
In the end, this is a question/answer thread. Please someone move it to the proper section or close it. No development going on here.

Ok, I actually have been trying to port a N3 ROM over to N2 with no success. I have very limited time, a crashed hard disk and no Internet at home. If anyone is interested, I can upload (in maybe a few days - no net at home ) a half-baked port that just about gives the N3 boot sound and gets stuck at the Samsung text boot animation. I haven't gotten a logcat from it too, so its more like shooting in the dark.
Even if you are not interested in my half-baked port and want to start afresh, note that the /system partition's size in the N3 is pretty different. You'll either have to try a .PIT that gives you ~3GB to the /system or go my way of chopping down on the /system's contents to fit it to N2's default partitions...
I tried flashing ROMs based on the leak, and my Note 2 gets as far as the boot screen, where it starts to vibrate in a Morse code type pattern. I'm thinking combining one of the ROMs with a different kernel will get something started...

After you get stuck in the repeated vibrating pattern, reboot to recovery and head to /data/logs - pull the latest tar log (by UTC time) and go through the txt it contains - you will have the kernel log, logcat and all that you need to debug.
My mistake was I downloaded an incomplete dump that is missing part of the framework. Will try again with a different base when I get the time.
Awesome! So even after a battery pull, this information will still show on the log? A battery pull is my only way out after this happens. I'll give it a try!

I need to add that I'm using a T-Mobile Note 2 (SGH-T889).
I do think that it's nearly impossinle, dur to the difference in resolution and width between N2 and N3 even if it boots up it will look distorded, and also is the N2 missing sensors that the N3 has..
some of the apk's are working on the leaked 4.3 firmware, i think u should help in getting the air command working properly, it's working but no icons, the thread is over in the apps section

That is not a problem. We have seen ports from different resolutions in the past. We may have to change the resolution of png files in the drawables for some apk.
That said - and this is for all members - THIS IS A DEV DISCUSSION. UNLESS YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO PORT THE ROM OR DO SOME DEV STUFF, PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE. USE THE GENERAL FORM INSTEAD. Hope you understand the importance of keeping a dev thread uncluttered.
@sabrdawg - yes, you pull the logs after battery pull (or holding down power-vol up-home to reboot into recovery. And I am using the N7100 leaked 4.3 as a base and N9005 stock to port. I am not sure if the T889 will work with the N7100's firmware - if it does not and if you cannot get the 4.3 leak to work on your phone you should hold back (unless you first port the N7100's leak to your device).
My porting attempts or on hold. The base ROM I picked (n a whole bunch of them I checked) are having problems with missing files in the framework. I have used up my monthly internet quota in my 3G and also the add-on pack's quota (and do not have internet at home ). Whoever is attempting a port, please download a full ROM from sammobile(say, SM-N9005 - UK or Singapore for example) extract it and deodex it to use as a base for porting to our device (Read up this link under "CONVERSION OF STOCK TAR.MD5 LEAK TO CWM FLASHABLE FOR NEW AND UPCOMING DEVELOPERS" (towards the bottom 3/4th of the page) if you are not sure how to go about it. Finally here is a good guide about porting.
Note that it would be helpful if you have some experience in porting, debugging using logcat and other logs. In any case, if you are not at least knee deep into Linux, Android and generally some technical affinity, you should not be attempting this. All the best. I will give it a shot if I can whenever I get some internet connection I can use to download the ~1.5GB stock ROM.
Maybe you can use a custom rom based on the leak for note 2...and a custom rom based on the official android 4.3 for note 3 and try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957219
I dont have the note 2...or the note 3 to try this. But Im thinking maybe you can use wannamlite based on the leak fot note 2 and a wannamlite for note 3 (I really dont know if there is one).
Im not a dev but I use this metod to port some roms for my atrix and works ok.
So, in other words, one could take any 4.3 ROM out there for the T-Mobile Note 2, and any ROM based on the Samsung leak and do this?

Maybe someone can try that...I dont have the note 2...so...I cant do it

Good day Khotaghora, please note the following instructions worked for me after many hours of banging my head off brick walls and flashing different roms including going back to the latest stock from sammobile.
Make sure you remove the current gear manager.
Download and copy the following gear manager http://twosx.net/xdadev/Gear/1.7.031004/com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.7.031004.apk to your device. Note, I have not supplied this, from what I can gather it was ripped off the s5 sources, thanks go to Omniwolf for supplying the apk's on XDA.
Ensure in your phones settings under security you have unknown sources ticked.
Install the apk, usually just click on the downloaded file from your favorite browser.
Make sure you have Bluetooth turned on.
I'm not sure if you need to, but at this point I paired the Gear2 with my phone, it will pair as a handsfree device oh the irony.
When you run the manager it will look completely different from the old image asking you to sync, I could see the device at the top of the screen, clicking on it fired up both the watch and the manager.
Good luck with your new device, here is hoping dev's start porting some apps to the Gear2, the store is looking a bit bare at the moment.
Hi trickyburn. Thanks a lot for explaining this into detail. I can confirm that I have managed to get the Gear 2 Neo working with my S4 following your instructions. I actual posted your URL on another forum and some more people have benefited from your post. I wish Samsung had released the latest version of Gear Manager before the release of Gear 2.
Cheers,
KhotaGhora
Check your versions before applying any old s5 based fix, the version 2 gear manager is based on 4.4.2 API's so wont work. the above mentioned 1.7.031004 does work on 4.3 however
4.4.2 based roms might be able to use the updates from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677686
However note I have not tested these as i'm on 4.3 stock at the moment

Hi, I am not really new to rooting droid devices, but have run into quite a bit of trouble trying to do this with my Note 8. I am wanting to put CM on it like I have on my droid phones, but have had nothing but trouble trying to do it. I have seen several different articles here and there about it apparently not being possible to do anything with the AT&T version of the Note 8. Is this accurate, or is there someone who has successfully rooted and applied CM to their device? I can't stand the old 4.1.2 on here, and AT&T seems to be in no rush to update to 4.4. CM would be perfect for my needs, but I just can't seem to get it on there. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! CM = CyanogenMod. it is a highly customizable port for Android which provides a ton of new improved features for your particular device. Google "CyanogenMod" and read up on it! It's a very decent ROM. Cheers! :good:

I am so glad I stuck with my Galaxy Note 8 for AT&T (model SGH-I467)
It was upgraded OTA to Android 4.4.2. Although it is now dead ended in terms of Android os updates, but it turned out to be a totally blessing. (AT&T no longer committed to any further updates for that device)
Android 4.4 and 5.0 are the only good OS for managing SD card for extended storage. I am having a great time achieving and saving excellent media clips onto the sd card without worrying about filling up the internal memory. Google has crippled Android 5.1 and even 6.0 SD memory management and direct read and write ability. I have a tablet that has 16GB internal memory and a SD card slot, but the Android OS is 5.1 and it rendered the SD card totally useless but for pictures and video generated from the native camera app. None of the other third party apps can access the external SD card !!!!
i want software for note 8.0 sgh-l467
Hi all,
Just rooted my device for the first time today using TWRP and flashing SuperSU. I was hoping it was going to give me the ability to upgrade my device to a stock android version of Lollipop. As I'm looking around it seems like that is not supported by the community. I have used the search bar and haven't come up with much, except a few old threads when Lollipop was just released.
I found this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755532 that suggests nobody has modded it past it's final android update 4.2.2. The only difference it seems is it gets rid of some of the uninstallable Samsung and Google apps.
I just wanted to confirm that there is no development going on past 4.2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110) before I flash a new ROM from the list.
Thanks.
bump
I would also like to know, I bought the tablet today for my son, but never checked about the android version, and now i can't update the kids mode on it,so being to get it to update would be brilliant, if not i'll have to take it back and exchange it for one that has a newer version.
Maybe in the future:
