[Q] Should I RMA - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I've been living with my Nexus 7 random reboots but they're beginning to get very annoying. Other than the reboots the device is OK. Would you send it in for a RMA or just live with the reboots?

I did a RMA through ASUS and if you ask they will pay for shipping. Sent it to them for screen issues, took them 4 days to fix it and ship it back. Turned on the Nexus 7 and woo-hoo! It's still not working right, called them and did another RMA ticket. I'll keep doing it until they get it right and so should you.

Dead A100

I have a A100 which will not turn on, all I get is the power light and when I press the home button it responds sometimes!
I am rooted, unlocked boot loader, etc will this cause any problems if I send it out for repair?

Usually its emmc failure, currently unavoidable however Linux society has taken measure against it in his twrp and his android kernel.

If its in failsafe no they won't know they just replace the board and send it back. If its showing the Acer screen they'll know and probably charge for repair.

Thanks for the info Pio! I contacted BBY where I bought it and thought I'd see if they exchanged it. I didn't think they would, but hey beats waiting and no they wouldn't!

Took about 10 days when I sent mine out. Doing ups ground insured was $25 and they paid return. It went over a couple weekends so actual time was 14 days

I'm sending mine out today, it should arrive Wednesday. I'm figuring it will take about 3 weeks turn time. I insured for $250 and with ups ground it was I think $15.00. I believe I over estimated the weight, owe well. Time to pull out my old Lenovo tablet PC.

Not for free, no. Check on acers site with the snid under the sd card flap fir warranty coverage. Its 1 year in most cases, if its a refurb its a tossup if they even look at you.

Camera purple/blue/red tint problem

Hello all,
This problem occurs when taking pictures when there is less light. From what I have read the only way to fix this is to send the phone to HTC for a hardware repair. However, I had bought this phone second-hand from someone online. How could I use the warranty now? Please advise.

The phone should still be under warranty. Just get on a chat with HTC and get a repair ticket set up and you'll be good to go.

They should since it would be within the one year. I don't think selling a phone breaks the warranty. If you get on a chat with them they'll ask you for your info and worst case scenario is they tell you no.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
Yes, I bought mine off of Craigslist. They didn't even ask me if I was the original owner. It is under warranty and they fixed my camera issue without any problems. Took almost exactly 2 weeks to get the phone back from the day I sent it.

I'll leave it at that for now. I raged at their chat for about 30 minutes before I got offered 2 more options.
I had HTC repair my camera and not only did they expedite shipping (standard overnight) the camera looks great now when taking pics, The phone looks perfect just like I sent it in. Looks brand new. The actually changed the motherboard and put a new sticker with all the new info on it.
I called them, ask if they could do something more than standard ground and had a prepaid label in my email about an hour later. I brought the phone to fedex saturday morning, it shipped to htc by monday morning 9:30am and was showing in repair at 11am then an email around 5pm that it was done and setup for fedex pickup. Received it at 230pm today.
I think their service and repair was outstanding.
I've been waiting to send my M7 in for this camera issue but now that I've picked up the M8 I was thinking about just selling it as is. It's rooted unlocked with s off.
So I did some Googling in order to get an answer as to whether I can send my phone in for this fix without getting it back unrooted/S-On.
From what I've read it seems to be hit or miss.
Anyone reading this sent one in that was S-Off, only to have it come back stock/S-On?

If you send it S-OFF, technically you are breaking the warranty. And that would REALLY suck for you, cause you would be without a phone for about 2 weeks and it would come back in the same condition, AND you wouldn't be able to fix it anymore afterwards. So you kinda gave birth to 3 birds with one womb.
I S-ON'ed mine when I sent it in, and luckily since this was within a week or 2 of 4.4.2 coming out, they only flashed 4.2.2 (I think. This was like 8 months ago. Whichever version is currently rootable). I would suspect that now, your phone would come with 4.4.2 + Sense 6.0, which is not rootable.
I'm considering flashing a stock rom, then doing a faux h-boot that indicates s-on and removes the unlock/development red text from the startup image.
I just worry that they might have a flash stock rom/recovery step that they do regardless of what is on the phones that get which would lock me up with an unrooted phone once I got it back.

[Q] Moto 360 Stuck in boot loop after Lollipop Update

Hey guys,
I got the lollipop update for the Moto 360 today, but now its stuck on the boot loop ( the red, yellow, green, blue spinning orbs)
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks
--------------------------------------
Update
----------
I have sent my moto 360 for a replacement and have created a bug report here https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=83581
If you guys go there and star it, google is more likely to notice it. Hope everyone gets their watch fixed. Good luck.
It took a while for me as well but finally it booted up fine.

I also have such problem. I've rebooted, rebooted, rebooted, all the same. I think only one way has left- flash firmware.

Probably, it is a bug in the update... I sent back the watch to Motorola, they are going to replace it
For me this isn't good idea, cause shipping will take a lot of time (Russia). I Iam inclined to reflash it by myself. I just wonder if it will help or not.

Nothing..I just called them up and explained the problem..they told me to restart the device when that didn't work..they said they will send a replacement after my watch reaches them...
On their website it says I'll get a "like new" replacement so the replacement could be a refurbished one. So, it's probably better if you get your own watch back after repairs.

Random reboots?

Had the phone plugged into a Dash car charger this morning and experienced three or four reboots before and after connecting to bluetooth. Unplugged it and haven't experienced a reboot since. Anybody else experiencing this?
Just got the phone today and while setting it up it has rebooted on it's own 4 times. Once during bootup as I am typing in the decrypt password it froze up and rebooted from there which is before most of the OS is even loaded...I have fear.
---------- Post added at 03:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:46 PM ----------
It is going from bad to worse for me. I am now not just getting random reboots but the phone is going to sleep and powering itself off completely.
Sounds like hardware issue. Don't give up, request replacement.

I just opened a ticket. Waiting for a level 2 to contact me they want to remote wipe and reinstall oxygenOS on it. Although since the problem can happen at the preboot decryption prompt I have a feeling it will be a warranty replacement. Love the phone, just sad I got a lemon

Yes, I haven't had any freezing/rebooting issues. I'll try doing more with Bluetooth, but I think I've returned or trashed any poorly-behaving Bluetooth devices I've come across.

Have you opened a ticket yet? The site the sent me to schedule the level 2 tech to reinstall the OS just says "Currently, No services are available" I think I just want them to send me a shipping label so I can get the exchange started rather than jumping through these tech support hoops. I dont think the issue we are having is very common and I'd rather just get a working device than fix this one.
I had an issue transferring a file to the OnePlus 3 via Bluetooth after setting the phone up. I didn't experience any reboot issue accompanied with this though. I wish you luck with support. I thankfully haven't had to use it yet.

Yeah they are pretty much demanding I go through their repair process with a remote control session and stuff I should have just straight out asked for a full refund instead of reporting it as a broken unit. I have a feeling I am screwed at this point. All the stories I am reading on the OnePlus.net forums about RMA's and returns are complete horror stories. I hope I am proven wrong but this is certainly a downside of going with a small company.

Random reboots can be because of static electricity. Try to drain the battery to 0 percent and keep it at zero percent battery for 5 mins or so on floor. Then charge the phone back and see if random reboots disappear.

If I let mine sleep for more than 20 mins or so it would completely and silently power off. It is acting just like when you undervolt your custom kernel too much. I am pretty sure mine is a hardware problem like a bad capacitor or something.
So I went on the OnePlus site yesterday evening and figure out how to request a service ticket and requested a refund RMA and today got approved and a shipping label. I gave it to FedEx at lunch today. As soon as the credit hits my account I will just order another one. I love the phone and I bought $80 worth of accessories. I just want a functional one and I refuse to spend hours of my personal time on the phone with their support team. It is not my job to repair a defective device. I wish they would cross-ship a replacement.

About 14 hours later. I opened the service ticket at like 7pm and around 10am the following day got the RMA label. When opening the service request I just asked for an RMA because "I don't like the device". It is within the 15 day return window period I didn't say anything about it being defective or broken. I had 2 lvl 2 support appoins set up and they missed both of them. At that point I was done messing around with support.
I'm having the same reboot issue as well. Three times in four days. All while using Waze and listening to podcasts using the Pocket Casts app over my car's bluetooth connection. I drained the battery completely yesterday, hopefully that makes a difference.
