I was running Sling 2 perfectly without any network error . Yesterday i flashed Superlite vdt and i liked that rom since it was faster than Sling. Issue i noticed was network won't work in 2G only mode and phone would not recognize network. 3G was working fine but once ill be out of 3G coverage phone will lose signals with No service or Emergency calls only . I flashed E975 h modem but it did not work. After that i flashed F180 k modem but it resulted in Service disable . Finally i restored my previous EFS backup and hurray it went fine . Very strong signals on 2G and 3G both. So if any one is facing this issue just flash your phone's respective modem and after that restore EFS . Enjoy .
Dear Ahmed Senior,
I just admire you always for your help and thanks a lot from heart for this beautiful post and solution.
Actually, I didnt back up EFS till from the first time i update the lh f180. Now can you please inform when i should backup my EFS, after flashing jellybean or after flashing the modem. Or is there any EFS backup from original rom for F180k in the thread that help me out.
Thanks lot in advance.
Regards
If imei number is not visible you can't make any backup. Efs is specific to phone so it's difficult for you to get it.

Your message mean that My phone is only suitable for 4G now...Not working in 3G as i have no imei.
But when i was reflashed my phone through LS970 and press *#06# then i found a serial. But in Phone settings IMEI = 0. The LS970 rom is icecream sandwich rom and it was CDMA. But I am in GSM/3G. Is there any way to solve the problem Dear. Please suggest me
Regards.

If IMEI number is being shown i think no need to worry . Just make a backup of your EFS flash modem for your device i, i guess you have F180 k,and after that restore your EFS. It should work fine.Actually you need to restore EFS backup even if IMEI number is being shown.

Yes i have F180k, I did as you said but still no signal even now it does not find any network at all.. here is what i did tell me if i did anything wrong..
1. Made an EFS back up using Freegee
2. In recovery mode wiped cache/dlvik
3. flashed modem of F180K for 4.4.2 Roms
4. Reboot restored EFS partition.
5. Rebooted after restoring EFS
Still no signal what I did wrong? can you share the modem that you flashed and how do you back up your EFS via Freegee or any other mean?? and how you flashed the modem??
I am not using VDT rom but Sling 2.2.2 can this be the problem??
I am myself on Sling 2.2.2. Never used Fregee for EFS I'll share you Modem which i flashed and procedure for backing up EFS.

Be aware my friend that it's not a modem or baseband thing. You (and me) didn't back up our WORKING efs so flashing the wrong patch or rom messed up our efs so EVEN IF IMEI I SHOWN our efs is not working as it should any more. You need a working efs which it seems everyone is afraid to share. That's all.

I have just rooted my stock DMF2 rom and got efs backup. Then i flashed the latest perseus kernel.
I wanna flash the latest omega rom but i read somewhere that if i flash a non DMF2/ME6 based rom, i will get a imei error.
Is there anyway i can flash omega rom without getting an imei error?
Thanks for helping and sorry for my english.

well try it yourself since you have a backup.
Make sure that also have a backup of your Modem and Build, (found in settings under Baseband (modem) and Build Number).
because your EFS backup would work 100% if both of these were the same when you're restoring.
If things didn't go on well, then you can reflash the ROM.
in case the backup wouldn't work (works once then no signal on next restart), then what you have to do is as follows:
1-Flash the ROM that has the same build number as the one you had when you backed up your EFS
2-Restore your EFS and restart
3-Restart again, if there's no signal, then restore your EFS again and restart once.
4-Downgrade your Baseband to any version (I prefer DME4).
5-Perform an OTA update (OTA works if you had status normal and an IMEI and phone signal, so you need your EFS to be restored and the signal working, for the status normal you need 0 flash counts and Full Wipe of data through VolUp+Home+Power).
6-If you have ROOT, then don't touch Install or Install all! click on later.
7-Get Odin Mobile Pro (you need the Pro Version). and run it.
8-Click on "OTA/ update.zip". point it to "/Cache/Fota(might find random numbers here)/update.zip". In case you can't find the file, just use Root Explorer, and copy the update.zip to anywhere on the SdCard0 or extSdCard, and Point Odin to it.
9-Check the EveRoot Option and Odin Pro.
10-Flash the ROM.
now you'll have the same build number, but your baseband is now updated correctly. Just restore the EFS one more time and restart and it should work.
Note: If you may tell me your current baseband and buildnumber, I could save you time by giving you my files if I have the same as you.

Bump, I'd like to know this also.
I've flashed the DN3 version 4 RC2 and now I have IMEI null and Baseband is unknown.
I did search and came across couple posts which I'd used; listed below.
I've read and followed these instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389426
As well as using the tools listed on that page.
I've also used Dr.Ketan's aroma efs backup/restore to try and restore my efs and I've tried EFS professional.
I have old efs back up from 9/10/2013 in the .img file and the other one from 24/08/2013 in tar.gz file.
Is there any other way to try and restore my phone to its formal functional glory using any of these back ups?
Any help is much appreciated.

This happened to me when I flashed a N7100 rom to my N7105 by mistake, to get it to work again,I unrooted my device, then I installed samsung Kies, from in Kies I went to "Tools" and "Firmware upgrade and initialisation".
It will ask for the serial number under your battery so have it handy before you do this. You will have to boot into download mode and let
Kies do the rest.
It worked for me, cant hurt to try.
Good luck.

You must have to restore with EFS Professional because there are no same patterns were observed for apps but custom recovery does. Now a days in almost every custom recovery offers efs backup and restore(Philz toch is very well), and this is meant to be a suitable method.
Luckily enough it was just a dirty flash! I guess the EFS was still intact and it was just a bad ROM installation.
All is solved

My question is how do i install cyanogenmod 11 and also get network service now that i have my imei and base-band back. I'm not familiar with efs backing up or what to do with it to get network service working on a customer rom.
Any help is appreciated. thanks

To do that you must be rooted and have a custom recovery.
Download and Install PHILZ recovery latest version.
Make Nandroid backup using recovery. Keep it somewhere safe.
Download doctor Ketan's Multitool zip file and install it via recovery.
Now you will see Aroma window with various options. Chose EFS BACKUP.
Exit Multitool and restart the phone.
Copy EFS backup from internal memory card to Phone (approximately 20mb size)
Now Flash any rom u like.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

My friend had the same problem..he has a efs backup but both of us dont knw how to restore it back (tried few methods post googling but none worked even after saying successful)
Unbelievable how many of us fell into the same trap. I also flashed this recovery because I wasn't paying enough attention to what I downloaded. And I also lost my IMEI. I hope you backed up your EFS or you could be in trouble.
If you backed up your EFS then just recover it with the same program that you used to make the backup. If that doesn't work try flashing the stock Samsung ROM and try again. You can also try to flash the modem. This helps sometimes.
I had a backup of my EFS. I tried to restore it in CM12, didn't work. I tried to restore it in Ditto4, didn't work. Then I used an old STOCK Samsung ROM. First I got a generic IMEI whereas I got null/null on custom ROMs before. Making progress. Then I tired to recover my IMEI eith EFS. Didn't work. Then I flash the modem with modem_XXDME4__ (i'm from central Europe) and voila, IMEI back.
This is of course all possible only if you backed up your EFS file. If you did not, chances of getting the phone back are quite slim. I've read about a hunderd threads while trying to recover my phone and some say that when you don't have a backup of your EFS partition, just flashing your stock Samsung rom might work. By stock Samsung ROM I mean the one that was preloaded when you bought your phone.
Good luck.

As what @Sheeptar (Thanks ) said, you can try to restore the efs using the method you used to back it up.
Else, try flashing a stock rom. This happened to me too and I was in the middle of flashing a new rom, so I flashed a stock rom using odin, and didn't have a problem while using the new rom.
I guess that version has no modem support, trying flashing previous version
thanks a lot guys ...
had a full twrp back and restored same ....
u ppl are so supportive ....keep up d good work ..
lolz i restored d full backup
didnt tried only efs...
another possible way..
This worked for me once.. Restore the stock version. E.g. Verizon. Then use the setup/phone/reset to factory option. I flashed the wrong note 2 room onto my i605 . Restoring via twerp didn't work, but the above did.
Guys i lost my imei
This was because when i flashed the latest twrp and then lower version of twrp recovery using higher version, after that i got stock recovery i again flashed twrp using odin and realised i lost my imei
I have two backups of imei one efs.img which i tried to restore using terminal emulator it was successful but i didn't get my efs back
I have one more efs backup of extension tar.gz of 61.3 kb if i extract it i get a folder of 5mb with many files how do i restore it?
Is there any other way i can get my imei back.
Please help ;(
