[Q] Help please accessing download mode - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having trouble accessing download mode on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195). I have tried and re-tried the vol down + home key + power to no avail. I am starting to think I might have a fake, but its locked to O2 network in the UK. surely a fake would be unlocked? also I have tried a few apps genuine Samsung app and cpu-z both say the phone in a genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-I9195). I run the imei number and all looks legit there also.
I can access the recovery node via vol up + home + power. but no download mode. the volume key works fine as well.
can't post link to cpu-z validator but added a attachment of image if that helps
I am at a loss and would appreciate any idea's or suggestions please. Thank you.

From the screen shot, the phone looks legit. Plus you can access recovery mode, so I don't think it fake. I also had a friend that has a genuine S4 mini bought out of carrier contract and cannot access download mode...

You have stock firmware without any mod or root?

Thank you all for your help, Great news that the phone looks legit, and I have bought a jig, hopefully that will help.
And as far as I can tell the phone is stock, I tried app is my phone rooted, and it came back false. so looks like that confirms its stock.
Again thanks for help and hopefully the jig will enable download mode. will keep you updated. :good:

Jig worked

[Q] can't use recovery mode.

Hello my friends.
I got a Galaxy Note II here - but my sister decided to play with it and now its locked on the 'too many wrong patterns screen'.
To make things even worst i haven't associated it with a google account (i recently bought it from a friend of mine).
When i try to hard-reset it the phone goes to the famous android logo with red exclamation - i think he rooted the phone and didn't told me.
Anyway when i get on this screen if i press the 'back' key on the phone i can access the 'Android System Recovery' - but i can't select any option.
I know i should use vol up/down to scrool betweeen options and power to select - but i press power and nothing happens.
Tried also pressing the menu button - nothing happened also.
Another problem is, for some reason i don't know the phone won't connect to my computer - only in charge mode.
Tried tons of things lots of times but it isn't showing up no matter what i do.
I tried also to call me from another phone and get in any menu - but when i do that i can only select normal options (send an sms, refuse call, accept).
I would like to hear suggestions from you guys since i've ran out of resources - i don't know what else i can do in order to recover the phone.
Thanks in advance
additional note: i just know its model is i9220+
It accepts WCDMA and a GSM SIM.
Pablo
oh yeah
those are the things i readed in order to find *ANY* solution:

if you don't have any important stuff on the phone...why don't you just flash it with stock firmware using Odin?? in download mode?

This is what i want.
But my computer do not detect the phone so i can't go into download mode.
I don't have anything important there - not worried about what is on its memory.
like i said when i plug the phone into the computer it only starts charging and nothing more.
is there 'any trick' i can try heh ?
ps: i installed kies, uinstalled, installed samsung usb drivers, installed, etc...well what i mean is that i tried most of those tricks to get the phone detected but no success - maybe flashing directly from my SD ?
also - i 'suspect' my phone is that n7100 . since i don't have its manual and can't access its menu either i just suspect because its from brazil and those n7100 models are like 'international'.

ok from how you are explaining stuff I'm not sure if you understand the flashing procedure thoroughly and risk involved
1. flashing can be risky
2. you need to download Odin example version 1.8
3. when your phone just powers on you need to know the EXACT model number example N7105 or N7100 or any other version..this is very important as if you flash a wrong firmware you could destroy your phone completely
4. find a stock ROM for your phone on xda or at samfirmware.com
5. install Samsung drivers or install Samsung kies but while Odin is on Samsung kies services must be closed
6. keep your phone in download mode by switching off your phone then HOLD CENTER/HOME BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN + POWER BUTTON
7. your phone may warn you and I believe may ask you to press volume up button to continue
8. then you are now in download mode.
9.open Odin
10. connect your phone to your pc via USB cable..give it time to register/install itself as a new hardware..etc etc as you may see new hardware detected pop up if running on Windows
10. a yellow COM port will appear on Odin showing the phone is connected
11. place the stock ROM file on the PDA section UNTICK REPARTITION , TICK REBOOT
12. this should flash your phone....however my procedure is a vague way of how to go about it... you may need to see a detailed step by step procedure on XDA if you are new to this.
I take no responsibility for any damages...I hope you almost everything we do here on XDA had risks involved
or the safer option take to a Samsung repair center!!

To get into download mode all you need to do is turn of the phone and hold power home volume down until you see the warning sign.

Put device on download mod and tell us what information it displays
You need not to connect device with PC to get downbload mode. Do this.
Vol Down + Home + Power
then vol up in warning screen to finally get download mod.

Okay
when i put the device into download mode (vol down + home + power) - it goes to a 'factory mode'
then options i have here are:
Full Test
Item Test
Test Report
Clear eMMC
Version
Reboot
And i can't choose any of 'em , no matter what i press.
Same happens when i go into recovery mode.
For getting into recovery o mode i i press the following combination: vol up + home + power
Then i get the android logo when a red exclamation - but when i press the 'back' button i can get into the "Android System Recovery <3e>", where i have the following options:
Reboot System Now
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
and same thing - i can't select any of 'em - no matter what button combination i press.
I tried plugging the phone into three computers none of 'em detected the phone.
Sometimes after many power on/off the computer detects it but instantly loses also - its something very quickly.
I can't get into any of the menus of the phone since i'm stuck in the 'too many wrong patterns' screen and i have no associated google account.
Also when i plug the phone in the pattern screen the only thing it says its about charging - nothing about plug in usb or anything like that.
I'm a bit used with flashing (did it a lot on my RAZR XT910) and i know all risks.
I've also found out my note ii is model GT-N7100 (this is the one sold in brazil) - i couldn't get its manual but my bet is going to be this - samsung service center won't repair the phone without the fiscal coupon .
I'll try more and keep this post update - but if anyone got an hint about this just tell me
Thanks in advance
Pablo
Your device seems to be clone one and not original N7100.
Have you purchased from authorized centre?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Your device is not a Samsung phone, you said as much in your first post.
Asking us to help is pointless, you need to talk to other clone owners and see what they have done.

Oh okay.
I tought it also but wasn't sure.
I'm really sorry for taking your time
It was looking like Samsung because of its back
There's an stick with:
MODEL: i9220+
FCC ID: A3L SHI9220+
For information call: 1 888 987 4357
Bluetooth
CE01688
IMEI
and Made in Korea
There are also entries to:
WCDMA SIM
GSM SIM
and SD Card
But when i power it on there's nothing related to Samsung in fact - i never get anything related to Samsung.
Only android logo like a rocket.
It seems to be running an android 4.1 because of the interface
Anyway i'll see what i can do and thanks in advance for all the help
Again, sorry for taking your time.
Pablo
EDIT:
A Thhread talking about my phone:

It seems its a Note II Clone really.
I'll keep searching information around XDA and google.
Again, thanks in advance

Download Mode?

My S4 broke and my friend lent me his GNote II in the meantime. I do not feel it is authentic. I am trying to root and flash a rom to improve performance but when i try to enter download mode with Volume Down, Home and Power but when I do , it takes me to Android System Recovery 3e and I can't even choose anything like i usually can when I press power. Power does nothing and home removes the menu. Any ideas?

Method 1 -
Does it give you 3 options to choose from (in download mode)
1) normal
2) fast boot
3) recovery mode
If so, yes I am pretty sure that this is fake/clone samsung note II.
Method 2 - via IMEI number
you can check IMEI number www.imei.info for some fake/clone phones you will noticed that it will show Nokia or some other company.
Method 3 - via Samsung Kies
Connect your phone to your PC and if samsung Kies does not detect it, then it may be fake/clone.
Hopefully, this will work for you as it did worked for me in identifying fake/clone samsung note 3.

If it is a fake or clone, am I unable to root ?
Its not fake -- that is the stock recovery for all Samsung phones. You need to root using chainfires kernel, then flash a custom recovery. Both of these procedures involve a PC and Odin software. Everything is spelled out in several threads.
Yeah just read the stickies man
.odin takes 5 minutes to download and root.
you sure your holding down volume? Up volume is recovery down is download.
Power off phone. Then hold vol down, home, and power. Once you see logo release ONLY the power while still holding down and homs.

[Q] Hard Bricked AT&T Galaxy S3. Please help!

So I installed the unlock bootloader app called EZUnlock that was on the PlayStore and when I powered off my phone and tried to turn it back on it wouldn't boot. Not even to bootloader. Its just off and blank screen. When I plug it into the computer all I get is a driver with a weird name on it and Odin doesn't recognize it. Any ideas on how I can fix it guys? Thanks!!

http://www.android.gs/download-mode-galaxy-s3/
If you can, then you should be able to fix it. Once you're in download mode, Odin should recognize it. From there you can flash the proper firmware.
If you can't get into download mode, you can buy a usb jig from ebay that forces the phone into download mode. That has saved my ass many times.
Nope. Doesn't even go into Download mode. Alright thanks mate. I'll give that a go and see if it works. Cheers!

Time to JTAG as the other person said.
I am unable to locate this app on the play store.... It looks like it was removed however were you rooted prior to attempting to use this app... If so a trick I found when my phone will not power up is to remove the battery and hold the power button for 1-2 minutes to clear the cache and DVM then reinsert the battery and attempt to power on to boot loader or recovery while holding the power button for at least 1-2 minutes...if this fails then you can attempt to use a USB jig or send it out for JTAG service.... Hope this helps
the att sghi747 comes with unlocked bootloader.
err on the side of kindness

Is there anyone who can help me fix my a52? It has null imei after numerous reflashes, wifi work, just cellular is not working. I read about broken EFS unfortunately I dont have it backed up, is there a way to extract it from phone and repartition it to fix the cellular? One chinese person who messaged me offered me help, then asked 150 for the fix when I told him I would think about it he tried something on my device, he then ghosted my messages.
I read somewhere that tools like chimera can help fix this?

There are some tools that can repair the IMEI, one called IMEI repair tool, it doesn't require any fee: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...YQFnoECAgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2-FpI_TTLca34H7AA0RHpQ
I don't know if it works or not because I never had a case where i had to repair my IMEI. Give it a try

Question Recovery mode forgot pin code

Hi,
I'm trying to wipe userdata on a Fold 4 because I can't remember the pin code. I tried power button + volume down. Then at boot power + volume up but it doesn't work. Now I found out that the phone needs to connected through USB cable to either another smart device or a computer. I'm fixing this for a family member that doesn't live with me. But will come to visit me during the weekend. Can someone please confirm this? That in order to get in to recovery mode without pin is to have it connected to a PC? Do I need to install the Samsung phone drivers on the PC too? Much appreciated for an answer. Cheers!

The Fold4 international devices, F936B, do need to be connected via a USB data cable as this video shows...
Drivers are not needed.
Other models such as the U.S. F936U & F936U1 do not need the USB connection to boot in to Recovery Mode.

If not the F936B, follow the same procedure but without the cable.
To determine the model, go to...
Settings > About phone > Model name
That's just the thing I can't bypass the screen lock. But the procedure didn't work without cable and I'll look at the box what model it is. Thank you very much!

No worries. If it is the international, F936B, model it will work with the USB, if not, it will work without it.
