For ANYONE who already owns the find 7 qhd, does it have the same limitation on storage as the find 7a or is it unified storage? Please answer me fast I can't WAIT to pre-order. Thank you!

Unfortunately, not unified.
God dammit oppo. What the hell!
Anyway I got this from a user on oneplus forums:
"Go to Settings > General tab > Storage > Preferred install location. There you have 3 choices... System Storage, Phone storage, and System default. Change it to Phone storage
Edit - adding addtional info: User installed applications are installed in /data/apps, settings and app data is stored in /data/data, and then application cache data is stored in /cache. These are all part of the "System Storage".*
Quoting from*http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ce-between-system-memory-and-internal-storage"
Does this help with the limitation problem? Anyone?

Interesting. Didn't know that. Just got the phone a few days ago. I'm so used to having the whole phone storage and external microSD storage. Hopefully, someone could shed some light. Sorry about that.

What solution? They just said buy an OPPO and flash CM11. That doesn't change your non-unified storage, I've done it.
There seems to be some indication from oppo that they will be moving to unified memory soon(ish)
there is a thread on the oppoforums.
google search "FREE OUR MEMORY MOVEMENT find 7" and you can have a read. its a 10 page thread.

Hello,
They said they will be moving to unified memory for future phones not for the oppo find 7/7a.
Yes it does however I installed all my apps today and still have 1.5gb left!
The method of changing the preferred location will put your apps in the "other" storage partition. The only problem with that is some of the apps don't like the "other" section, especially widgets so they won't work properly. I have all my apps that I normally carry on my phone and I'm fine. The structure is stupid/antiquated and will be corrected at some point in the future but for me, for now, it's not that big of a deal. If you're a gamer that might pose a bigger problem but I'm not certain if apps to SD applications wouldn't solve at least some of the issues?

That's worrying.
You had you phone for how much time ?
I guess not very long and the partition is already half full.
Now the cached data are going to grow and of course there are going to be update too.
I wonder how much time is needed in your case before you need to do some cleaning.
6 months, one year ?

I have had HTC Desire for 2 years now and I am planning to buy this phone in couple of weeks. I have few questions if someone could answer them for me.
1. How is the loud speaker feature? Is it better than the Desire?
2. Out of 32GB memory, how much is available after all the preloaded system apps?
3. Since there is no SD slot, how an individual would transfer the data from PC to the phone? can an individual use a USB cable and place them in designated folder of the phone?

1. (My last phone was a Desire) The speaker is A LOT better, it sounds even better then the speakers in my laptop.
2. 25GB left. (+ You get 25 GB free with Dropbox, which you can use for your documents, photos, video)
3. Through Dropbox is the easiest way, you get 25 GB free storage which makes transfering files very easy to do. (And if 25 isn't enouf you can always buy more/also use Box which offers another free 50 GB.) USB transfer also works, but believe me once you get used to Dropbox you don't want anything els. When I take a picture on my phone it is a few seconds later already on my Dropbox account available for all my other devices.
Thanks.

I saw in a review that only 2GB is available for installing apps. Is this going to be a problem? The only thing I really disliked about my Desire was the dramatically limited space for apps and I don't really want to fall into that again.

I should have said that indeed, there is 2GB dedicated for installing apps but you can move pretty much any app to the "SD CARD" which has 25 GB of storage. My apologies for the confusing answer the first time.
PS : Keep in mind that within the 6 months pretty much all apps will be optimised for "Move to SD-Card".
PS2: Since all the storage is located on one physical storage unit (as far as I know?) I think devs might be able to make the 2GB partition a 10 (or any number) GB partition. But you better ask this to a real developper.

Call me paranoid but after the Desire I am a bit wary of moving apps to sd being some magical fix. It didn't seem to help me that much when I was HTC stock (pre root and roming). I thought the point of Android switching to MTP was to make all the space available for apps.

Yeah I had that same problem with the Desire, some apps didn't work after moving them to SD. But I think app-devs will start optimizing this, apps become larger and pretty much every phone has very limited memory (without the SD-Card).
+ I'm pretty sure Devs can make the 2GB partition larger, if you root the device and use a costum rom that is.
Hi,
I have a HTC One X which I've had for nearly 2 years now. The space in the App Storage is taken up by the "Other" part by like 6.5GB. Is this normal? Plus, Now when I try to install any apps, it tells me there is no space left. I deleted some Apps I don't use and it's still just a bit left. I don't know why this is happening... I can't install any apps even if I remove every single app on my phone. Is there a way that I can at least find out what is inside that "Other" area as I found out that it isn't accessible. ALSO, is there a way where I could clear that Other area? I have never installed any ROMs or anything. All I need to find out is, how to clear the Other area.

My SD Internal Storage is fine (always at like 25GB) but my Phone Storage (8GB capacity) is always full. The least I've ever had it was 4.71Gb.

Oops should learn to read My only suggestion is do a backup and then do a full wipe. Hopefully that should fix it.
Any other solution beside full wipe? I have the same problem and don't want to do the wipe....
Hey guys I'm pretty new here so please go easy on me. Recently I updated my Vault Pro app and for some reason all of my pictures that I had stored have been deleted. They are nowhere on my sdcard or internal drive to be found, I have emailed the developer without a reply. After reading some of the comments on the app after the update it appears that I'm not the only one. Does anyone have any information or assistance they can give to me? I'd really like my pics back and to know that they aren't out there in the freaking cloud.....
Only thing I know is if you're rooted then flash a backup. As far as cloud storage I don't think vaulty did that (at least when I used it they didn't)

This was very recently that this had happened, I'd say within the month. People posted a few comments on the apps page about KitKat.
"Well, Google's stupid Kitkat has pretty much killed using SD Cards to write to, so while many people's Vaults are still on their phones, because of how Google has structured permissions, individual Vaults are now unreadable until a fix comes out (if it ever does). Awful (but not the developers fault)."
"After I updated my note 3 to KitKat, it completely wiped out all of my pics and videos. Please.....fix"
I'm not too sure as to what could have happened or what changed but I'd also like to get my pics back if it's possible. Anyone? Anything?

I don't believe that there is an online backup feature.
I have my Galaxy Note 10 + for 11 months now, with 256 gb internal storage and 128 GB SD card and a few months ago I was notified that my internal storage space was almost full. It was very difficult for me to believe this, as I do not have nearly enough pictures to be taking that up (pictures and videos are routinely uploaded to Google Drive and are stored on external SD card), and all of my music is loaded onto an SD card.
I have cleaned recycle bin but something is getting piled up day by day reducing main storage of the phone base memory. When actually measured the folders account only 60 gb in base memory but there is very less free memory.
Looking at the storage analysis, the problem seems to come from a large amount of space being taken up in the "other" category, but I cannot figure out what is categorized under "other" or why it is filling. How do I identify these files and delete them if unwanted?
SD Maid Pro works great for me. I can confirm that it can delete files. Just did some storage management yesterday.

Good app...
The original samsung Device Care that was loaded with Pie cleans very well.
Don't update it... the new sanitized version sucks.
I put the phone in airplane mode when using it and keep it package block it otherwise. It's probably chinese spyware but works well if gagged, lol.
I use a tool called "DiskUsage". Try installing that from the play store and give it a shot...

Check browser caches/data etc.
Go down the line with all apps including system ones. Google is a hog. See who'd hogging the beef....
I use SD Maid Pro to clean, it does a good job.
Just about time to do a reload anyway. Be picky about the apps you put on the new load.

Use the file manager and sort by size, what's on top?
You need to manually hunt for it. Check app data especially Google's. SD Maid doesn't delete app data.
Get the Windows driver for it and view the Android on the PC. Play with it. Off load some of the files and watch how it behaves. Does internal memory unexpectedly keep being used up?
You can try clearing the system cache on the boot menu but I don't think it will help. Never hurts.
That copy sounds like it's getting old... maybe reload time anyway.
hi i'm having app issues since i have android 11.
some emulators that I have (dolphin) do not have access to the microsd folder where I have the roms.
does this happen to you? Is there any solution? wait for the application update?
thanks
we'll just have to wait until devs update apps to be compatible with scoped storage
Yep, my microsd is readable till my phone lock himself. After that it dismount the card and I have a try at next day... same thing happens again and again. I didn't found a solution, but I still have 120 Gb free space in phone...
Meh... that's one reason I'm staying on Pie.
If I wanted scoped storage I have gotten a bloody Apple.
Is it possible for samsung to fix that microsd bug? or should it be google?

Assuming Google gives Samsung the leeway to fix it, Samsung could... eventually.
Lol, took over a year for them to fix the Buds firmware
Does anyone know of an e-mail to contact Samsung?

You can phone them in the USA. Their tech support is pretty much worthless.
Best bet is a Google search but the OS is very new so it's going to be slim pickens. You might luck out though. Try other makes and models as it may be a shared issue.
I don't fully understand: the problem accessing your SD card is with any app, or with some particular apps? If the problem is with any app, this is a major bug that makes unusable a hardware section. Can you please clarify please? Thank you very much.
Update: I have read more about "scoped storage", and I think that the problem is only with apps that "need" to access beyond its own storage (like file managers, photo managers, etc). In that case, I think that the solution is just to keep with "old API" version of those apps, that will not have the Andoid 11 "scoped storage". I hope I am ok.

If you have Magisk: have you tried tze Magisk module mentioned here in XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/module-exsdcard-write-access-enabler-5-0-8.3670428/?
Hello ! I am still trying to understand "scoped storage" before upgrading my Note 10+ to Android 11.
Does anybody know what will happen if using an "old" application targeted for APIS older than 30 ? Is it possible that old APKs still are allowed to access the SD Card ?
Example: I have a couple of apps (file managers type) used to do some back-ups to the SD Card. Using AppChecker, I have found that they are API 28 and API 29. So these APKs can still access SD Card under Android 11 ?
Thank you very much in advance.
