I would like to buy Note 3 n900t unlocked version so as to use it with Straight Talk carrier (using AT&T towers) on LTE data speed.
Will it work?
Or perhaps I should buy n900a version? Unlocked? Or not unlocked is ok?
The main issue for me is to get LTE data speeds.
Thanks!

It will work on Straight Talk AT&T. Just make sure you get the Micro SIM card so it fits. All you'll have to do is input the correct APN info after you sign up for the service. I had to switch to Straight Talk after I got scammed on Swappa. The service in NYC is not so great. I actually decided that it wasn't worth it to pay $50 for what I was getting, so now I'm just using my Note 3 like a tablet.
I hope it their service is better for you/in your area.

Well, either (N900A/N900T) would work on Straight Talk. You will probably have an easier time finding an unlocked T-Mobile version though. And whatever you do, make sure you protect yourself. Plenty of people have been scammed when trying to buy unlocked Note 3s.

Really, I would have thought the way AT&T locks down their devices there would be less of them floating around.
I got scammed on Swappa. So did other people apparently (via Swappa and Craigslist). Basically I bought my T-Mobile Note 3 on Swappa from a person with a perfect rating who assured me that the phone was not on EIP/stolen. Turns out is was and he wasn't paying, so T-Mobile blocked it. Swappa and Paypal were useless in resolving the issue. You can read the thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2605960
Boy did I learn a valuable lesson. My last 6 phones were bought either on Ebay, Craigslist or Swappa. No more. My next phone is coming direct from T-Mobile or the manufacturer. It's not worth $100 in savings to deal with getting scammed.

Oh yeah, but it is how it is on eBay at the moment.
Well the scam you described sounds seriously.... I'm going to buy my phone on ebay and buyer accepts 14 days hassle-free returns.... will it be enough to verify it's not stolen etc.?

Even if the seller on Ebay has good reviews, I would still be very cautious. The way these scams work. it can take weeks or months for the device to show up as being non-payment in the carrier's system (or the person can just wait to report it lost or stolen). I bought my Note 3 from Swappa in November and it wasn't blocked until late January. If you do some searching, you might find some threads that help you stay safe, and tell you how to reduce the risk of getting scammed when using Ebay, but for me the risk is too high now. Once you get burned, it just sucks balls and you never want it to happen again.

Yeah, I thought about it, and still might. But I will lose money if I sell now, so that's why I want to wait a bit until at least I can get my next phone. By the time i'm ready to sell it, the price won't be different than if it weren't blocked anyway. By September, when Samsung releases the next Note, all Note 3s will be selling for 350-400.

Well yeah, probably you're right.
I just bought mine n900a for 475$.
But Note 4 would cost no less than 800-900$ I guess, especially in the beginning.
Got my N900T for $350 last week from a guy off Craigslist, only has some scuffs on the sides that you can't see with my case. I had to pay to carrier unlock mine since it was on 4.4.2 tw. Slapped carbon on it and it was running fine on hspa+. I've been on Straight talk for about a year now. Ordered an LTE Sim the other day and got free next day shipping. Literally took me five minutes to get LTE up and running. And it is beautiful.

Most of the time the scammers will wait for the dispute period to end with paypal, which is 45 days, and then leave you high and dry.
1. Buy direct from t-mobile if you can.
2. If you are buying from a local person/craigslist, meet at a T-mobile store and ask an agent to check that it is free and clear with no outstanding payments due. Most of the time if the person is not trustworthy they will not meet you at T-mobile.
If the phone is blocked no amount of begging or pleading will get T-mobile to unblock it. It has been tried over and over and they will not allow you to pay any unpaid balance. The only one who can do it is the scammer who is long gone at that point.

Looks like Samsung's Galaxy Nexus will be only $199 on contract at Verizon, unlike many other 4G LTE devices at launch.
Anyone more excited?
Verizon is real lucky on this one , people have been buying the phone for $600+ meanwhile they should have just waited to recieve one for $199 , it's worth the wait people now alot of people have learned their lesson .

What? People have been buying the HSPA+ one. This is the LTE for Verizon. And you have to sign a 2year contract to get it for $199... Nobody that bought the phone unlocked was waiting to buy this one. You can't even buy the LTE phone anywhere right now.

booooooo. and i don't think anybody has bought an lte version for version because it hasn't gone on sale yet.
Typically, you pay 500-600 for a no contract phone. So Assume you pay 220 (w tax) for your 2 yr contract phone. THe No Contract per month cost is average 20 a month cheaper So,
20 x 12 = 240 x 2 =480.00 for 2 year contact phone added cost or 700.00 total cost.........
Pay the cost now or over time about the same...... but no contract does no leave you bound by the the Carriers whims...
I prefer to have the phone paid for now and be free rather than paying over time and indenturement

Sure, LTE is better but the speeds you mentioned isn't really impressive for LTE.
Also, the 1 mbps you mention is not a problem of the phone. On a decent network you will get very nice speeds on HSPA+ too. With that said I wouldn't mind if there was a GSM/HSPA/LTE version for the LTE network in Sweden. CDMA2000 is and always has been crap though.
I'm buying it off-contract, so this means nothing to me.

That's a good price. Kudos to VZN for at least trying.
It sounds like a good deal on the surface, but....
1. If you travel overseas, the phone will not work internationally since CDMA coverage is very limited, maybe in Japan. GSM is the world standard.
2. TMO 4G, or 3G+, has good coverage of the major markets in the US. Right now, I pay $60, after taxes, per line per month with corporate discount on TMO. For the same unlimted voice/text/2GB data, I would pay $100, after taxes with corporate discount, per line per month with VZW.
Even if I got the phone free from VZW, I would end paying $960, which is much more than the $730 I paid to buy from Expansys.
Hey guys, i've got a problem and I need some advice/options.
Long story short, as some of you may know, I bought my T-Mobile branded Note 3 on Swappa in November. Of course, Swappa says that they check IMEIs and the seller assured me that the phone was fully paid for, but a few days ago my Note 3 IMEI was blocked/blacklisted (whatever you call it) by T-Mobile for non-payment of EIP.
I have tried to resolve the issue through communicating with the seller and Swappa, but there's really nothing to be done. The seller won't refund my money, Swappa is powerless, and Paypal says the transaction is past their 45 day dispute period. The phone isn't even unlocked, so I can't even try and use it on another carrier right now.
So at this point i'm trying to minimize my losses. I am open to any suggestions as to how I can either:
1. find a way to get the phone unlocked and use it on another carrier (I know that when a T-Mobile IMEI is blocked or blacklisted, they share that info now with AT&T, but i'm hoping I can use it on Simple Mobile or Straight Talk or Walmart's service)
or
2. sell the phone internationally (with full disclosure of the fact that the phone is blocked on T-Mobile/AT&T of course, but it shouldn't matter if someone wants to use it outside of the US, right?)
or
3. sell the phone as a 'dev' device (at a substantial loss i'm sure), but I have no idea how to do this or even whether a dev would want a phone that is blocked (don't they need to test network stuff?).
I'm trying to find a way to make the best of a bad situation. Any one who reads this post and wants to give me some decent advice is welcome. But if you just want to start trolling PLEASE JUST GO AWAY. I have enough problems as it is right now.
In any case, i've learned my lesson. No more Craigslist, no more Negri, no more Swappa. I'm just gonna pony up the money and get my phones directly from T-Mobile. The money I thought I was saving doesn't look like such a deal anymore.
Never used them, but I thought they provided protection. Looking at the faq however, http://swappa.com/faq/buy/imei_blacklist_future apparently not. that's pretty weak.
I would think you might have some legal recourse if the seller is in the same state, they are committing fraud. You perhaps may have some even if they are out of state??
As for you options... Not really good choices.
Not a big BBB fan as I think they are skewed towards companies that are "Accredited" (ie paid lots of money), but Swapp doesn't look very good http://www.bbb.org/kansas-city/busi...-services/swappa-in-kansas-city-mo-1000002683

pay to get the phone unlocked and try pre-service before deciding to sell internationally. Or go to Play Store and buy regionLock Away, that might unlock the phone or it might not but worth a shot. I would try regionlock away first since that is the cheapest before buying an unlock code.
Same thing happened to me a year ago. Had to get it unlocked to work on aTt. It's cheaper to get it unlock on a online site and see how it goes.

Yeah, but the problem is knowing who shares what. I've been searching all over, and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on who shares and who doesn't. Some say a blocked T-Mobile phone will work on AT&T, some say definitely not. And many of the GSM MVNOs use T-Mobile networks, so i'm not sure if that would automatically mean it would also be blocked on their networks too. I guess i'll have to try them one by one, which will be more money out of my pocket.

So your phone still works on AT&T a year later? That's good news. One of the worst things about this is that I will lose my $30 5GB T-Mobile plan. I was planning on using that plan until I had kids, then putting each of them on the plan too.

I bought it from a used S3 on craiglists beginnng of last year. I pleaded to Tmobile that I would pay the remainder of the balance if the guy didn't pay his payments but they said I am crap out of luck. Used it for about 6 months and sold it. They said they share IEMIs but AT&T seems to me they don't care. They just want customers. If I spent $700 on a note, maybe an extra $20 to get it unlocked isn't so bad. Luckily my friend uses ATT for me to test out.
But they might be more aggressive now, considering Tmobile andATT sell same high end phones now like iphone and note 3.

I really don't want to lose my $30 5GB plan. I've been looking on Amazon and saw that they have some cheap T-Mobile 4G phones like this Nokia Lumia 521: http://goo.gl/KgvOgR
My thought is, I can purchase that, tether my Note 3 to it and keep using it. 90% of what I do on my Note 3 is data/browsing, gaming, etc. So if I can tether to the Lumia, I guess it would work.
Any thoughts?

Couldn't you try calling T-Mobile and have them un-block it or explain the situation to retentions? I just sold a phone on Swappa and they were pretty strict about a clean IMEI. I would reach out more to them.
People financing T-Mobile phones should NOT be allowed to sell them unless they're entirely paid off. PERIOD.

I've already spoken to T-Mobile. Their position is, it isn't their problem. In their system, I'm not the original owner, so that's that. Until the original owner pays the money, the phone will remain blocked.
As for Swappa, I'm pretty disappointed in them. Their sales pitch is that they check IMEIs, which is great, but that doesn't really mean anything. My situation is proof of that. I thought using PayPal would give me protection, but after 45 days, they won't even let you open a dispute.
I have been communicating with Swappa (and the seller). They act like they are going to help you (for example, they said they considered what the seller did to be 'fraud'), but at the end of the day, they can't actually do anything about it.

Generally they only share data with other carriers when it (the device) is stolen. Blocked usually only applies to the original network. Just go use it on AT&T or equiv.

PayPal is less protection than using a credit card. Just about any credit card you could report this and they would reverse the charge. PayPal's 45 days is a ridiculously short period of time for disputes.
Swappa would have a hard time getting a reversal reversed due to the fraud involved.

What's the seller saying? I am curious. See this is why I'd always just buy outright directly from the carrier. :/

This is the messed up part. I did a lot of research before I bought my phone from Swappa. I Googled over and over searching for any mention of phones bought on Swappa being blocked or blacklisted, or buyers being scammed. Nothing came up, so I felt pretty confident about using them.

Yes, I have learned my lesson very thoroughly. Note 4 will be direct from T-Mobile.
When I was talking to the seller before the purchase, I asked if the phone was fully paid. He said it was. In addition, his listing said the phone was only 2 weeks old, so I assumed he was the original owner. After I contacted him about the block, he said that he wasn't the original owner and that T-Mobile told him the phone was not on EIP and was fully paid when he bought it from some guy. He says he doesn't have the money to refund, and can't find the person who sold him the phone. (What a shock!)
Wow... I don't know what to say. It would appear that T-Mobile is not carrying the M8 at this time unless HTC screwed up on their site:

If T-Mobile doesn't get this phone, its going to seriously hurt both companies. I really hope this is just an oversight...
EDIT: Its true. Not til some time in April.

I guess T-Mobile is pushing the S5 so much that they are purposely crippling the M8 sales. Bad move. I'm tempted to pay off my EIP and switch carriers.

T-Mobile already confirmed that they won't have it until April, I put a link to a Tmonews story in my post: http://www.tmonews.com/2014/03/t-mobile-to-sell-htc-one-m8-online-and-in-stores-from-next-month/
T-Mobile said it in a press release. *sigh*
Considering that Sprint is getting it (and already has it on their site for order), I'm beyond pissed at T-Mobile for this and if they didn't have excellent coverage in Denver, I'd pay off my EIP and leave over it.
I guess the good news is that by the time T-Mobile customers can buy it, we'll know what issues it has and hopefully have S-OFF. I guess there is a silver lining by not being a launch day customer but still, I've been JUMP eligible since January 27th so I'm getting anxious...

Yeah, this is really disappointing. I was a little hesitant on the M8 based on my frustration with the camera on the M7. But with the recent photos and hype around the announcement, I was all set to go pick one up today. At this point though, I'll probably wait until the announcement of the OnePlus One on 4/23 to see exactly what that phone has to offer before I make a decision.
yeah its up now on best buy but says coming soon. No T mobile though. Just Sprint, Verizon and AT&T
The links for Best Buy are up... But it's only AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless... I can't see any unlocked version for a T-Mobile customer.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/htc-one-m8-119534
Best Buy doesn't sell T-Mobile phones so the gold is forever going to be off limits to T-Mobile customers unless they buy an at&t and unlock it.
I'm getting more and more bent about this the more I think about it. I can't believe that T-Mobile chose to do Samsung's bidding considering how long HTC and T-Mobile have been partners... G1, the MyTouch series... I mean really T-Mo?
What's the OnePlus? I've not heard anything about that.

The OnePlus One is a device being built by a bunch of former Oppo engineers. There haven't been any images leaked but the specs sound pretty good (5.5 inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3100mah battery, 13mp camera, etc). It will be running Cyanogenmod stock and is supposed to come in under $500.
I'm due for an upgrade through Jump as well, but T-Mobile's delay on getting the One will certainly give me more time to consider other options. Probably not good for HTC.

Looks good but hopefully it has LTE and T-Mobile bands. I just noticed that Oppo's new Find 7 finally has LTE so Oppo devices are now back on the table for consideration.
My big thing is warranty... If something breaks on a phone I buy from T-Mobile, I call them, they send me a replacement and I send them the broken device, they handle the warranty claim. If I physically break my device, Asurion takes care of it. I don't know I want to leave that comfortable system.

I certainly understand that. The T-Mo warranty program is hard to beat - I've had to use it a couple of times myself. It's another reason I wouldn't consider another provider. Just wish T-Mo was getting the M8 today like the other major players here in the US.
Update from T-Mobile is that it will release on April 11th. I'd prefer to have this phone subsidized, but this is how T-Mob is doing business these days, at $0 down.

That delay will allow us to see if there are any problems with the M8. I heard the pictures are better than the M7 and that after a week of testing, the M8 apparently doesn't overheat (which caused the tint problem in cameras) due the 801 cpu. Until I can try it at t-mobile, I'm gonna keep reading up on stories on it. Don't know about theOne Plus though, I should look into it.
The VZW variant works with T-Mobile. There is a YouTube in the Verizon M8 thread that shows a guy pop out his VZW sim and exchange it for a T-Mobile version. Works. LTE and all.

Anyone seen this? I rooted with towelroot no issues. From rent a center in USA was told its unlocked. I am running on 442 on att towers from net10.
I thought about flashing twrp with
But have not. Also thought about a custom rom insrall with mobile odin pro.
So far happy with rooted stock. With exposed gravitybox an wanam
Wonder if I am a first with this build or just not read enough yet.
Please comment or sugest things about this build etc. I will try an answer question anyone might have also.
note 3 rooted N900T
I have never seen that build number before. Wonder what it could be
Didn't notice the build number has RAC which is Rent a Center I would think. Until I have a pc to recover I won't be taking any more risks flashing etc. I got it rooted on stock so will live with that for the time being.

No idea
Did you find out anymore about this? I might be going the same route since my Note 2 died and discovered this, how much was the full price of the phone too and did they offer a N900A (AT&T Model) I'd like to get that one as it has more LTE Bands than the N900T (T-Mobile Model).

I'd imagine since it basically is a differently branded N900T it can take any T-Mobile rom version, since that's T-Mobile's model number. RAC Just branded it as their own by adding a few letters to the model name.

The RAC rom had no tmo apps or settings. I am on stock tmo NF4 and have settings i can't use. Going to install vision-x int. Rom. Was using and its great thought i had an issue with it but its something with my phone. I tripped knox but won't ever use it so Don't care.
There are tons of working roms and dev seems very active. Hoping that the note 4 being so close in specs will give note 3 more updates.

Yea I'm going to get one tomorrow hopefully.
Did it have any RAC Bloatware? I might take mine to metroPCS or my T-mo $30 100mins, unlimited texts and 5gb of data a month plan.
Glad to see they don't try to sell you on a plan right away when ya lease it.
Any essential settings that didn't work or nothing to worry much over about.
Hopefully we will see Team DittoNote3 make and bake a DittoNote4 rom for the N3 with note 4 features. I remember hearing in a couple reviews that it was all just software differences realy, so seeing as we have a healthy mod scene for the Note 3 we'll prolly see Note 4 features on it.

Well this is a bunch of b.s., they released the Note 4 but they expected me to continue paying the price of the Note 4 per week ($49) for the Note 3 instead of the it's new price $29 a week. I let them come and pick it up. I'll just go back and get the Note 4 in a couple days.
You would have to do a new contract at lower price. Thankful I get along great with the staff at the store I use.

So do I that's why they let me slide for a week with no payment... But luckily I found a new job, a month and a half unemployed but now I'm back in the working force again, so I'm gunna go back in and get the Note 4 long enough to save up a couple paychecks and buy the Note Edge will be released and I can order it from somewhere...
I'm surprised this time the Note 4 (N910T) T-Mobile model has more LTE Bands than the AT&T (N910A) Variant, before the i317 and n900a (AT&T Note 3) had more bands than the T889 and n900t.

I just wish rac and aarons both would honor price drops and not force someone to continue paying top dollar for a outdated model, but then again of course they'd lose money. LoL

Some people can't afford the large payment to get one. You find it funny but if I break it it's replaced free. When the note 4 is release my past payments give me credit to upgrade which I can just walk in on payment day and swap phones. I also can pick what carrier I want that will work with the model they get.
I rented tablets from them and upgraded unto newer hardware about every 3 months.
Currently rent to own a S5 and Note 3 at a lower monthly cost then just my old Verizon bill not including the cost of the phones and no free replacement when one shattered. So this for some is a great way to get an unlocked high end phone. They even rented to me knowing I would root etc without issues. Warranty in full.
Not so funny.

Yes it is funny because you pay $29 bucks a week when you can buy a brand new
Note 4 or any other new phone including iPhone 6 for under $35 bucks a month
at tmobile online or at your local store.
If you like dropping your phone on your cement driveway or giving it a bath once
in a while you can simply shell out an additional $7-10 bucks a month which is still
way less than you are paying now no matter what kind of calculator you are using! LOL
I purchased my Note 4 outright, using my visa debt card but I could have just as
easily purchased it for 24 monthly payments of under $35 a month. (no interest)
What do you mean you cannot afford it? You really must be kidding!!!
It looks like you have no problem affording the $29 bucks a week payment.
$29 per week equals about $120 a month hmm let me get my calculator... LOL
That comes out to about $1560 a year just for the phone without a voice/data plan or contract.
You really must be very rich to be able to afford that.
I had bricked my S6 Edge 128gb yesterday trying to root it and after no solution in the short term went to customer service to get support. In the end they ended up ordering me another phone. I was able to fix my bricked phone by performing a factory reset in the recovery shortly after rendering the incoming phone pointless.... I come home from work today and find this... Not only do I have 2 S6 edges, but one was delivered to me this quickly? T-mobile you've got a customer for life.

I have had nothing but fantastic experiences with T-Mobile customer service (unlike when I was with Verizon). I know T-Mobile's coverage isn't the best, but it is great where I live, and what they are doing as a company is awesome. I am super happy with T-Mobile (switched to them a little over a year ago after being with Verizon since the late 90s).
I've had amazing experiences every verizon interaction I had. I just switched to tmobile a few days ago and they're just as well. Could just be my area. Plus tmobile has unlimited (2-3g no matter what) 4G DATA! On verizon, you can get 50gb a month if you want.. but you're paying $500+ every month for that.
Huh. They tried to send me a replacement phone and it won't get here for a week and a half. They're also having me send the old phone now. I'm not particularly pleased.
Anyone having issues with overheating and Wi-Fi calling draining the battery? From what the store said is they charge a $50 restocking fee to replace a device now even if it's the same model, and the manager told me on the phone that they cannot detect overheating on their machines most of the time, so they cannot waive the fee.
I had a great experience with T-Mobile. I called them to get an unlock code and they granted it and sent me an email within 12 hours telling me I could unlock it. Well it did not work and they apologized and asked if they could send me a replacement. That was today, I'll have the replacement tomorrow and I then send the old one back. I never had that quick of a turn around with att. Thanks T-Mobile.

A+ for customer service.

Wierd they didn't get the old phone from you before replacing.. usually happens to my provider..
Having a issue with the camera on my S6 Edge. Rep said will ship ya out a new one next day. Love T-Mobile. Everyone should like them since they come out with new things that help save customers money. Then the other carriers usually follow.
I agree. I'm often surprised by how friendly the TMO customer service people are over the phone. I had an issue with my OIS not focusing and TMO promptly shipped another phone to me, with overnight delivery. The associates in store, is a whole other story, but the customer service people over the phone are amazing.

Hey Sweets55, did you order your phone in store? I am trying to get another shipped to me, but idk if it's a warranty replacement? The normal store I went to gave me hassle to exchange my first S6 E 32 GB in White. I went three times, which required multiple calls to Customer Service and Tech Support. Then, the manager changed it out to me, but I do appreciate his honesty since he said that if tech support feels that we should replace it, then I will go with it. I had the same issues, but he wasn't in yesterday. They didn't have stock either, so it didn't help since my second S6 Edge was Black 32 GB since they didn't have stock. I called Tech Support prior and they said my phone was registered as a White under my EIP, but which I paid off in full 5 days after purchase. I don't want a refurbished unit. What can I say to Customer Service or Tech Support? I had to drive 36 miles to go to a store with a lousy gung ho corporate line toting manager to waste 2 hrs of my time. He wanted me to pay up a restocking fee since he didn't feel the phone had any issues. Talk about lousy service for me that is.

Seriously, don't bother with the retail store. They will try anything possible to prevent replacing your phone. Call T-Mobile loyalty support and ask for a warranty replacement. There are no refurbished S6 Edge being sent out at the moment since the phone was just released. They will send you a brand new replacement without the box and accessories. You'll receive it the next day and if something is wrong with that, they'll send another one to you via next day.

What if my account has only been active for 6 months? I had T-Mobile prepaid from when I was 15 to 20 and then came back when I was 21 had my own account and then merged on a family plan in October. Will they give me white like my original one was? What about the fact I got black due to a lack of supply at the store? The system for tech support shows White.

You can ask and they'll put it down on the notes but that's up to the folks in the warehouse to decide. That's what they'll tell you unless you keep at it and let them know how much you really wanted the white s6.
