Hello,
I'm trying to run GTA SA android on my Xperia play.
I'm using Fusion ICS 2.4 (android 4 rom).
I use a 1GB swap and overclock to 1.3GHZ.
The settings of the game has been set to the lowest.
Sometimes, I get around 30 fps, but most of the time it's around 10,15 fps.
I play with gamekeyboard so I have button and analogpad support.
I used to speedup gta 3 by deleting the audio folder. That really worked.
Now I'm trying to do the same with GTA SA. (The size of the audio is 1.1GB!!!)
The audio folder is located in the main.6.com.rockstargames.gtasa.obb file.
But when I delete it or replace it with empty files (using winrar), the game gives an error at startup saying that I have to redownload the files.
Is there any solution to this? It would be great for everybody with an Xperia Play.

Hello,
I've tried to convert the games Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (SLUS 01419) and Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX (SLUS 01113) with PSXperia 2.0. The games inicializated properly in the phone, and ran without any lag, but in both cases, the characters textures were much deformed, making it just unplayable. Somebody get one of these converted games running 100%? I was figuring the possibility of use FPse v0.11.26, but Tony Hawk's ran without sound, and Mat Hoffman's did not get a good fps rate (was slow enough to disturb the game play experience).
Is there anyone who are playing these games and can tell me how to do?
My device is R800i with stock rom, 2.3.4.
I had the same issue with THPS1, I think all the games are affected. Have you tried FPSe? Looks like it may have better luck, maybe not perfect but certainly better.
Yes, i Have tried FPSe, version 0.11.26, but it didnt play the THPS 3 sounds, and its nothing wrong with the rom, in epsxe, for PC, the sounds are played. In Mat Hoffmans, FPSe didnt get a good performance, sometimes the fps falls highly, getting rates under 25.
FPSE v0.11.28 is newly out.
Maybe THPS2 is the best one? I've got THPS1 somewhere, not tried it...
At 1.0GHz I can play in software mode without frameskip, just some occasional audio/music stutter e.g. around the plane on the first level.
At 1.4GHz I can use the OpenGL plugin with music and without frameskip, again with only occasional lag. Frameskip or Boost Mode kills the gameplay. It's kind of my benchmark for testing roms.
So not perfect, but nearly there and playable.
I'm not stock though, currently using Doomkernel v14, Gin2ICS 1.6.9 plus the 15scheduler & 20perfsettings init.d scripts from JokaWild to set and tweak the sio i/o scheduler.
Hey guyz am getting my xperia play fixed (flex cable problem) . Is there any other way to speed up games? E.g Gta vice city, modern combat 4 . I'm currently running NXT LE 1.3 with doomkernel(v14) and I have overclocked. I am still getting a few lags once in a while. Is my phone maxed out or is there another step forward?
Do a swap partition and you can get more RAM memory
Mc4 doesn't lag if u use wapshop version with wifi on.
/==(CyberScopes)==\
And gplay version doesn't lag if u start game with game pad closed then open when game starts

I have a rooted Samsung galaxy S plus, it manages to play some FPse (ps1 emulator) games just fine.
Driver for instance, which is surprising as on the ps1 it could at times seem a bit juddery, I used magic ISO and Power ISO for the img rips.
But other games I've gotten as .Bin/.Cue files from my own cds mostly boot up into the ps1's audio player.
FF7, Tekken 2 & 3, Metal Gear Solid etc, it's frustrating as they are from good cds.
Have tried configuring the settings in various ways but it doesn't want to read them as games..
If anyone could offer some insight I'd be grateful! (is beginning to make this emulator feel a waste of money, even if only £2)
Hi, anyone manage to play this on Xperia Play?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rovio.angrybirdsgo
It is free on market, but game need 195MB on internal memory. I succesfully install it but when i run it, it show me loading picture, and when music start playing, it kicks me out to homescreen.
I'm on ICS rom (Neo2Play) and on lupus ics/gb 480p kernel
If someone played it, please state your rom/kernel

I played it using another method
There are some games around the websites that you can put the data in sd card
But the game was very laggy because it beeds 512 mg ram
It closes in all of the ics roms but it works very awful in stock gb(too many lags. I think using swap can reduce the lags)

I can make space to install it in /data, but it always kick me to home screen due lack of free RAM.
I was just wondering is it working at all in some lite GB (or JB) ROM.
I installed it today on Gin2Kittkat, switched in Ram Manager to heavy gaming and it closed after loading. Then I copied swap script to init.d, reboot and the game run normally. Graphics on Xplay is much worse than official screenshots, but it is playable and with only little lags. And it "support" Xperia Play gamepad - if you choose touch controls then you can turn with touchpads.

Thanks for detailed info.
It's exactly what i needed to know :good:
After update 1.4 I noticed a significant performance drop on GTA 3 on my Xperia Play (1.5ghz, gin2kitkat, 250-300mb free ram) and I finally found why. Inside the .obb archive for GTA 3 is .img archives optimized for Adreno, PowerVR and Tegra3+ (atc, pvr, unc) gpu's...previous to 1.4 GTA 3 chose the img archives best suited to your device...1.4...doesn't do this...it always uses the unc archives made with tegra3 devices in mind, this means that you are always using the better quality "Xbox" models which are too high poly and make our poor Adreno gpu's choke...
Extract gta_atr.dir, gta_atr.img, oldveh_atr.dir and oldveh_atr.img from main.5.com.rockstar.gta3.obb.
Use a gta img editing software such as imgtool 2.0 to extract all of the dff's and txd's from oldveh_atr.img into a folder. There will also be one extra file called "vssver.scc". You want to make sure you do not extract that!
Then you want to replace all the vehicle dff's and txd's inside gta_atr.img with the ones you extracted then rebuild the archive. Then place the resulting gta_atr.img in "sdcard\android\data\com.rockstar.gta3\files\gta3\models"
What this does is replaces all of the high quality Xbox car models with the lower quality ones used on the PC and PS2 release. This should help to free up ram and help the Adreno gpu to cope at a loss of model quality.
has anyone tried this and gotten said results? i can't get it to work and getting verification fail when installing. if anyone would like to share the edited .obb file or at least tell me the size of the file after editing, that'd be great. the original v1.4 obb file is 1.21gb and when i replaced the .dff and .txd files mine ended up being 1.13gb. only reason i'd like for this to work is that i get lag/choppiness playing on ics or jb roms.
This would indeed be nice
