So i received a new phone in the mail from tmobile because i claimed that my last phone was lost. They sent me a Galaxy s4 with 4.3 pre installed (sadly) and I didn't care about tripping knox so i rooted and installed an i9505 rom. Now when i was on stock before i rooted i would get signal problems at my home unlike on my previous galaxy s4. Text messages wouldn't go through nor mms and sometimes i wouldn't have a data signal. But now i realize there are a lot of things wrong with this phone :
Vibration on the phone does not work at all nor keypad vibrations
The speaker where you place your ear for a call has a lot of static when on the phone and the volume is low even on max and with volume mods
the back facing speaker is low even with volume mods on high
the continuos bad reception it has
notifications that the sim card has been removed when it has not
So what I'm trying to ask is if i reflash stock 4.3 on it and set the flash counter back to 0 with triangle away, can i call customer service complain that the phone has all these problems and that knox was already broken when sent to me so I can get another galaxy s4 sent to me?
Just reflash 4.3 and see if it helps or even 4.4.2, Knox is already tripped.. And you don't have to reset anything because you can't reset the counter, and they won't ask you about the counter, all you can do is file a claim and hope they won't say anything about it

Did you flash a kernel?

Reset flash counter using triangle away. Reflash 4.3 tar. Go into store and b*tch!
Don't ever mention knox. A lot of store reps have no idea what that even is or what even a bootloader is. As long as you can re-create the issues you mentioned at the store. They will gladly give you another one. Took me 3 Galaxy S3s referbished to finally get a good working one.

Hey people,
I'm having an issue with the large speaker on my E4GT.
It was working when I received it and here's what I've done since...
Factory Reset via settings
Flashed it to Boost Mobile w/stock ROM no sound
Rooted stock ROM via ODIN no sound
Flashed to Calk's 3.0 via SD and Rouge CWM no sound
Flashed Calk's bare ROM converter via SD & Rouge CWM no sound
To fix I have tried
Viciously banging my headphone jack w/ Beats Studios
Apks such as Volume+
Wiping everything via Rouge CWM & Reflashing ROM
Can someone please help me out?
Great me too
I just had this happen on my phone, and I'm not sure I know exactly when it started because I put my phone in vibrate mode quite often. I believe I last heard sound from my speaker on Monday. Now I hear nothing, be it phone calls, texts, or music. Sound from the earpiece is fine. Sound also works with headphones.
I was using ParanoidAndroid when I noticed the problem. A factory reset didn't help, nor did a revert to stock or CM9.
Any suggestions? I don't have insurance so I'm guessing a trip to the Sprint store is not an option.
I would say take it into a full service sprint store and have them have a go at it (flash stock rom prior). my guess is the speaker itself may be blown. the speaker for the E4GT is real easy to remove and replace and is a normal repair part kept in stock.

Still take it to a sprint store ( find a corporate full service store, if you need help locating one send me a pm ) . As long as the phone isn't damaged beyond economical repair ( broken screen, liquid damaged, run over by a car), the repair will cost you 35$.
Thanks for the recommendation Rossk. However, seeing as the disassembly of the phone seems easy enough, I was thinking of switching out the speaker myself.
I didn't bother though, as I never believed it was a hardware issue. I had been trying to fix it by flashing only ICS and JB roms, so I figured I'd try a stock GB rom, and now it works.
What a relief. I would have hated to have some repair guy bust open my phone unnecessarily and fail to fix the problem.
Yolo,
My friend recently bought a galaxy note 2. He has this annoying problem like he's not able to hear or speak on a call. He even tried using the headset, he can hear when the call connects but automatically everything goes blank so at this point I think there something wrong with his phone software. So I suggested him to try using 3rd party phone app no luck there. Even a factory reset 3 or 4 times didn't work even flashed the firmware via odin nothing worked.
Any suggestions like was there a similar problem for jelly in s3 or note. Is there a fix for this.

It's normal/standard.
Most custom ROMs don't have it. If you want to get rid of it but keep stock ROM, read here. You must be rooted however.
Hey
that is normal on All Recent Samsung Android devices.
This Worked For me with no Modifications but just a Simple Fix by installing the APK and enable the Module in Framework
Disables the increasing ringtone when there's an incoming call.
Works by disabling AudioManager.setStreamVolume for a volume of 1 when there's an incoming call, so should probably work for any device that has Samsung's SecPhone.apk.
Tested on Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) and Galaxy SII (GT-i9100) with the new Jelly Bean update.
Root REQUIRED Download Here
Or If Un Rooted you could use install this apk and it will be normal
Un Rooted Download from Play store by UN ROOTED CLICK HERE
thanks both of you for the answer, i'll try the option with the app on the playstore as i haven't rooted my phone, as you said that this was like a common feature with samsungs devices, my wife has an international s3 i think is the i9300 and she doesnt have this issue, but well not everything is perfect right? jaja thanks guys
well it actually worked pretty good with the app from playstore, so i think i should be fine for now until i root my device, thanks
Not sure about that i had note 1 and now note 3 i've noticed and my frnd has s3 it does the same on it .
but sure it will work on it :good:
When Samsung service replaced my faulty screen, they introduced a new problem: from time to time, usually in the morning after the phone wasn't in use, I get lots of phantom presses on my menu button. The phone is unusable during this time. It will go away after a while, but sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes for the phantom presses to stop.
To make things worse, they upgraded my phone to knox-enabled bootloader, so I cannot return it again, because I already tripped my knox flag.
Has anyone had to deal with these phantom presses on their own? Is it likely to require a part replacement, or more like cleaning a contact under the screen?
I have never heard about this problem but maybe there's a program to disable the buttons, like miui has. (i know there's a program for remapping, so you may want to disable the button completely).
And i think you can actually get the knox stock status by downgrading to 4.1.2 and then officially upgrading to 4.3.

No. . His Knox is already tripped. . Even otherwise You cannot downgrade once in Knox bootloader mj9 and above to any version less than 4.3 without tripping Knox
And you have a weird username
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, the username is so because they have already blocked 2 of my other accounts.
And about knox, I always hear people complaining that they can't downgrade to older rom, however I've never had that problem.
Maybe it's because I flashed custom 4.3 rom (knox free) on the beginning and then downgraded to 4.1.2
However I've found some deknoxing tool he may try to use and then he could try to get back to 4.1.2. (never used it myself)

That's because all the de knoxed 4.3 roms have mj5 or lower bootloader

I've not noticed another thread dealing with this issue.
Ever since I've upgraded to 4.4.2 (unrooted) the phone app seems to be a bit bugged. The first call I make to someone, after the call initiates and the screen says "dialing....." I can't hear any sound from the phone while it's ringing or after answered, both on the ear speaker and the loudspeaker. The receiving end can't hear me either. However, on the second/third attempt both the receiving party and myself can both hear perfectly fine.
I've now rooted the phone in the hope to find some solution, but it seems that this problem is unique.
I'm trying to avoid a factory reset because I'm afraid to lose data on Avengers Alliance which seems difficult to backup
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Just trying to get a bit more info and clarification...Were you stock (not rooted) and this problem started happening? How did you upgrade (kies, OTA)? Did you jump from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 or were you on 4.3 prior? Are you rebooting / changing anything in between the first call and subsequent calls?

Thanks for your response....Yes i was stock and the problem started happening. I upgraded via OTA (through Settings -> More - > About Device -> Software update) from 4.3. I'm not changing anything in between the first and subsequent calls. For clarification sake, after an audible call is made I have to call 2-3 times again before another audible call happens.-
Is there anyway to reinstall android 4.4.2 in case something went wrong with the installation? Still haven't found a solution to this. Tried forcing all sound output to be on ear speaker and still didn't work in case for some weird reason audio was being output to the internal speaker

Would i encounter any problems with Knox Security if i use Kies and reinstall 4.4.2 on a rooted phone? Also would any data be deleted?
