Hey, i received my desire yesterday and i love it but i cant work out how to do two things,
1. Remove the slide lock screen and just have the pattern? It seems stupid to have to push the button on top, then slide the thing down and then put in a pattern.
2. Make the clock display either my current location through A-GPS or the town that i have put into world clocks? At the moment it either displays United Kingdom or "current location".
Thanks

Delete the clock widget and then add it again, you can select which location it uses.
That worked, Thanks.
Any was to solve the first problem?
I'm also getting a notification about once an hour telling me to set current time when i click on it, it says
unable to detect your current time zone. tap below to select a city. i have to click on GMT+1 but as this is the only option why does android keep asking me?
Thanks

Welcome to the world of Android. Its fiddly at first but will soon become your best friend
I assume your issue comes when the phone can't detect where you are in the world by using your phones network. When that happens, it prompts you to tell it where you are so it can keep things up to date.
Mine did the same, I resolved it by choosing where I was and after a few times it stopped.
If it continues (and becomes VERY annoying) try this:
Menu > Settings > Date & Time > Untick "Automatic" at the top of that screen and set your date, time zone and time manually
Hope that helps

Yeh that fixed it, thanks.
is there no way to change the lock screen then?

I assume you mean the pattern unlock? If so you could try slide unlock similar to the iPhone one.... not tried it myself but if you search for slide unlock in these forums you should find it
No way to change the lock screen. On the G1 you used to be able to press menu which would put you straight on pattern unlock and bypass the lock screen. On the Desire for some reason the only way you can turn it on is via the power button =/
I updated my AT&T Note II to KitKat 4.4.2 last night, via AT&T OTA update.
According to the new features list, I should now be able to access the camera app from the lock screen, right?
But now joy.
All my Googling thus far indicates that I should first enable lock screen widgets by going to "Settings -> Security", and turn on a check-box for "Enable Widgets". I have no such option, or check-box, on the "Settings -> Security" page. And I no such similar options on the "Settings -> Lock screen" page either.
I've also seen instructions (albeit for other Samsung devices) that seem to indicate that I should first disable (or turn off) the lock screen altogether. In other words, set the lock screen to "None". And then re-enable it. It seems that I can not set the lock screen option to "None", after the KitKat upgrade. In other words, it seems that after the KitKat update, I am now forced to choose either Pin or Password lock screen. I have only two options available on the "Settings -> Lock screen -> Screen lock" page now - Pin, or Password. All other options are gray'd out, saying "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage".
Anybody else seeing this after the KitKat upgrade?
Anybody have any hints on how to get the camera, or any other, lock screen widgets to show up on the lock screen?
EDIT: Solution found. See post #11 below

Thanks for the suggestion 06Silverado... but no joy.
There is no such option on the Settings -> Lock screen -> Lock screen widgets page.
Here is what I see (see attached screen-shots)
1 - The Settings [My device] page
Followed by tapping on Lock screen
2 - The Settings [My device] -> Lock screen page

Very interesting... your Settings -> Lock screen page looks very different from mine.
In answer to your question... Yes, I took the ota 4.4.2 update last night.
Here is a screen-shot of my Settings -> About device page
And... if I go to the bottom of the Settings -> About device -> Status page, it says "Official"
I wonder what could be causing the difference????

It also looks like you have a Lock screen = Swipe.
That's not even an option on my device (it's gray'd out, and says Turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage).
As shown in the attached screen-shot
I wonder if a security policy of some sort got installed on my device. It's a personal phone (as in not managed by my employer's MDM solution), so I'm not sure how any such policy would have gotten installed. I certainly didn't knowingly do so.

I think I figured out how to re-enable all the screen lock types.
Following the suggestion in this stackexchange thread... I cleared credential storage by going to Settings -> Security -> Clear credentials
Now I'm able to set a screen lock = Swipe
As in, all those screen lock types that were gray'd out are no longer gray'd out.
And I'm finally able to add the Camera widget to the lock screen
Holy crap... what an ordeal that was.
I wonder how the heck my credential storage got dorked.
Oh well... moving on.
Thanks for all your help/suggestions 06Silverado
Having another set of screen-shots to compare/contrast, helped alot.

Camera widget doesn't show
Hi all,
I am having the similar problem here where my camera shortcut on lockscreen doesn't show up
However I am able to choose other lockscreen option such as pattern, pin, password, etc...
I have read the solution given from pdfruth in post #11, but the "clear credential" option is disabled
I just update my note 2 into kitkat 4.4.2 and manage to root successfully
my problem is "shortcut" option is missing so that I cannot have the camera shortcut or other shortcut on my lockscreen
Please assist...
Is there any way to disable the swipe to unlock on the G3 and just have it open to the phone when I tap the screen?
Let me explain... I followed the guide on here ( bliynd dot com *slash* archives *slash* 289) which allows you to use tasker and secure settings to write a profile that will disable your lock screen when you are on your home wifi (it is basically what the next version of android will have built in). I have a pin screen that welcomes you when you wake the phone whenever I am out but when I am on my home wifi it just shows the "Swipe in any direction to unlock" screen but I just want to be able to turn on the screen and have it just show my phone.
Is this possible?

I have not found a way to show notifications on the lock screen. Just like it does in stock android. Actually, can't do anything when screen is locked. There has to be a way. Also, would like to remove all the ASUS crap! Will probably need to root the device for that.
Works fine on mine.
Under Sound & Notification - When device is locked, I've set it to "show all notification content". I also had to disable "Skip the slide page" under Lock Screen
Thanks. I had to disable "skip the slide page"

Yeah its working now :good: I had enabled "Skip the slide page"
There weren't notifications on the lock screen using numbers to unlock the phone until the most recent OTA update. I received an OTA last night (05/31/15) that fixed it.
Now my lock screen shows missed calls, Texts, everything I want it to. I have to swipe at the bottom to unlock, or if I try to view a text/make a call it will prompt me to unlock.

For marshmallow
It was not difficult to find.
Type in call dialer
*#546368#*855#
if you have diffrent model than D855 type yours instead 855
Go to TOUCH then go to KNOCK ON/OFF option and choose what you want

Thank you ! I thought it was still 3845#*855# for Marshmallow, I typed several times this code but it did not work. thanks again
It was changed with MM. No problem, it was quick and easy.
This did not work for me. I cannot get double tap to work. I just bought (yesterday) this phone because I liked it on my G2. Today it updated to Android 6.0 and double tap is gone.
I can not understand how the LG can make such a bull**** of not putting an option in the menu. My device turns on the screen and activates the camera in my pocket when I wear wide shorts. It's really annoying. LG G3 D855p - 30a.

So, for a Verizon VS985, would I enter, in the dialer, *#546368#*985# ? I did that, but then what? If I hit the dial button, the phone actually tries to dial.

Can you tell me what you did to access the hidden menu?
I am having the same issue - since the upgrade, I haven't been able to use the double tap to wake up my phone. I've also tried the dialing codes mentioned previously, and I get an automated message saying the number I called is no longer valid. I would really like to get my double tap to wake function restored!
Thanks.

I have found the solution! Anyone else having this problem, go to the Play Store, and get the free app called "Activity Launcher".
After you open it, select All Activities.
Scroll down to Settings, then KnockON.
There will be two. Open the first one.
This is your KnockOn setting. If the box is checked, it will work. If it is unchecked (as mine was), it will not!
A quick and easy fix. I am so happy to have my double tap function back!!!
