[Q] Astronomy clock - Zooper Widget General

I had an idea that I would like to try making, but unfortunately I'm not overly familiar with zooper yet.
I have noticed that there is a variable for the moon's phase in degrees, and this gave me a bit of inspiration.
What I would like to do is have a static image of the sun, and to the right the earth that rotates every 24 hours, and an image of the moon that rotates around the earth relative to it's current position.
Is this possible, and is it difficult to do?

Possible and difficult. Just try.

I have a widget something like that... check it out on my G+ page here https://plus.google.com/103934698784251707937/posts/3NyxWofNmLC
The large moon is a moon phase and the earth has the weather conditions over it.

To clarify, do you want the Earth to rotate around the Sun, with the moon rotating around the Earth? If so, I'm not sure this is possible. If it were possible, it would require you to use advanced parameters on the moon that determine not only its rotational location around the Earth, but also the X/Y location of the arc which must dynamically move along the same rotation as the Earth.
If you are want the Earth to have a fixed position with a moon that rotates around it, this is much more doable, but I would ask you why you want to create such an image?
Technically, the moon orbits the Earth every 27 days or so. It goes through all of its phases in roughly 29 days. It is visible in the sky for around 13-15 hours per day, depending on when you are looking.
Just trying to get an idea as to why you have settled on 24 hours as the rotation time, as it doesn't necessarily correspond to the moon's actual process.

Ciao
Very best Clock:good:

That's great :good:

G1 Wallpaper Template in PSD Format

I just got a G1 a few days ago and wanted to make a wallpaper for it. As you know there's several screen breaks: three when viewed horizontal and three more when viewed vertical. I tried downloading a couple templates from various blogs and forums, but none were very thorough, so I made my own.
It's a tradition of sorts that I make a wallpaper for my phones featuring Keith Olbermann, so I named it after him cause I'm a big gay dork like that.
The template has two color coded Layer Sets: Each set of layers has three sub-layers that highlight the screen breaks and viewable area that occur on either of home screen's orientations.
I also included a layer of bars that align with the bottom row of icons for each orientation. I got the idea from another wallpaper I downloaded, I don't remember which but I tweaked it a little since it wasn't quite right when viewed horizontally.
The part at the bottom with my website link on it is never visible on the phone, so you can replace it with your credit there if you use it.
Some screenshots:

You missed the point of the template. It has overlays that let you see beforehand exactly which parts of your wallpaper will display on all the Android "screens" whether landscape or portrait. Nothing worse than picking a wallpaper, no matter the res, and not being able to see the best part of it unless you open the keyboard and flip left.

Yes, but when you're viewing in landscape mode about a third of the image is cut off. Plus, some of us like to use something other than just 'any image'
... and the resolution is 640x480.
Over 200 downloads so far.. just wondering if anyone is using it and if they are if they have any suggestions?
I'm downloading it now. I'll let you know if I can think of anything useful to share! Thanks for the template.
Thanks! I'm thinking about adding a layer in the horizontal set that gives you letterbox style bands on the top and bottom so you can see what gets cut off when the orientation is flipped.
Just updated it (the 1.5 version) to add letterbox style bars on the tops and bottom to make obvious what will be viewable in each orientation.

HTC Weather App

Is pretty useless isn't it?
It's telling me on Friday its going to rain.. is it going to rain on Friday?
Maybe? Maybe not?
Apparently its sunny right now, a quick glance out the window confirms this. Okay how about in a few hours?
Oh, there's no way of finding out.. maybe if I press on the sun... nope, oh 'More Details Online', okay...
enter postcode, check
hmm
what's this?
nothing, just badly formatted useless information (looks out window), it's still sunny
Please tell me someone's found a less useless weather app/widget for the phone, this truly sucks and I dont want to wait for it to rain outside so I can see an animation of a windscreenwiper
The weather app is pretty much just eye candy on the front page for me. I rarely take any notice of what it forecasts.
I have a copy of Weather Bug on my Desire and also tried Weather Channel. If all else fails I go to the BBC weather site.
The good news is, they are all crap!
I can see conflicting forecasts on all apps and in Britain we have to accept that when the sun appears we make the most of it... instantly ... because very soon it'll be peeing it down outside!
snow storm is the best weather widget I have come across. It takes feeds from yr.no One of the most accurate publicly available MET office data feeds.
It gives a detailed forecast of each day in 4 x 6hour windows. accurate and useful.

Just installed Snow Storm, will give it a few days to see if it's more accurate. I certainly love the skins/Themes available. Thanks for suggesting this.
Looking promising, thank you... bye HTC Weather Widget.
I like weather bug. It has a widget for the home screen as is more accurate than the htc one. Even shows satellite images.

[Q] Calibrate Gyrometer?

I just picked up the GNex Friday and have noticed sometimes the screen doesn't rotate properly. I thought nothing of it until this morning when I had to shake it a few times to come out of portrait mode. I then went on to play some Raging Thunder (car racing game), and my car just makes hard lefts and crashes.
So I'm thinking there is something up with my gyrometer. I downloaded "Gyro 2D Visualizer" and can can confirm that the phone is off quite a bit.
Here is a picture of it on a flat surface, you can see how much it's off:

Anyone else have this issue? Is this bad hardware or is there a fix?
Thanks!
After your post I went to take a look with GPS Status and you were right. It's a bit off. I calibrated it right away and should be correct now.
Weird they did not add a calibrator in ICS.
Would you mind sharing how you calibrated? I have GPS Status, but I'm not sure what it wants me to do when it says "rotate your device 1-2 times around each of its 3 axes".
Also can you verify that your calibration remains after a reboot?
What you're talking about is the compass caibration. Do the following
end over end (flip); hold it with the screen up and flip it away from you making a full rotation
side over side (roll); hold it with the screen up and move it from left to right so the screen rotates left, down, up right
screen-up rotation (spin); put it on a table and spin it around
Taken from: http://androidforums.com/143593-post3.html
The 2nd one is putting your phone on the table and the pressing calibration.
Hope this helps
Ah ok, sorry for the confusion. I found the other option for "pitch and roll".
Unfortunately, loading the game yielded the same results. I tried to play Doodle Jump and I had to tilt the phone to the left to get him to bounce straight up and down.
I downloaded the gps status app and mine seemed right on, however does anyone know if this app also shows you what the barometer is reading?

That setup is quite advanced, combining multiple modules with different advanced parameter codes. You might want to take this a step at a time. For the start, here is a general tutorial how to make another module follow an progressbar in Zooper: http://zooper.themerapp.com/support/discussions/topics/40652. If you have understood the basics of how this work, you should be able to figure the other stuff out.
As for a progressbar that shows the progress of the day, you should set it up with a maximum of 1440 (24 hours * 60 minutes) and then use #DHH#*60+#Dmm# for the value.

[App Proposal] What do you think? -On the Edge of the World-

So, hello everyone it's been a while.
For those who wonder what the heck is this guy,
I made this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/themes-apps/edge-navigation-bar-button-t2950486
Anyhow, let's get to the point.
I've been around making this app... called 'On the Edge of the World', or 'the Edge of the World', or 'World Edge' to shorten a lot.
For now, it's quite simple. It basically works in three steps.
1.When loaded,(that is user swipes edge panels and World Edge shows up), it checks gps location.
2.Then it retrieves google maps image from online and shows the image on the edge panel
3.Also, it writes down the address of current location.
I have fooled my phone so that it thinks that I am at the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Island.
See the image below of the prototype I have worked on.

GPS locations are not re-called automatically after once it's loaded due to battery issue.
You can refresh your GPS location manually by clicking that Compass icon below, though.
(Yes, it's the icon from Safari. Sorry Jobs, I have always been shameless about stealing great icons.)
So that's basically it, at least for now.
What do you think? Too gimmicky?
What kind of functionality does this app need to become a killer-app?
Let me know.
Reserved just in case
Good work again. And what about battery use?
Possibly a GPS navigation system using just the edge with voice prompts. It can display an arrow when you need to turn(flashing arrow for a hundred meters or so) and have the voice telling you where to go. Make sure it has downloadable maps so it doesn't cost using wireless internet.
Good enough idea for you?

Similarly to the Google Maps micro on Wear? I could get down with that!
Love the idea, can't wait to see it in action!
