Hold on to your horses. It will come... probably by next month.
You can always check using OTA by going into About Device and tapping on Software Update to get the device to check manually.

Thanks. I'm new to the Note 8, just bought a lightly used one in Toronto, but now I'm starting to wonder if it will get an upgrade. Seems that the Canadian (and maybe AT&T) versions are the i467M, slightly different from other markets, and with such small market share, they are being forgotten.
My guess from looking at these threads is that if I tried to even put the 4.2.2 update for the 5120 on from late last year, it will brick my device since for some reason certain carriers, including all Canadian carriers, have a basterdized version of the hardware.
So it's possible I'm on 4.1.2 forever. But thanks for the reply.

Outside of a few games causing 4.1.2 to lockup or pause... 4.1.2 is fairly good. Though there are some things it does not share with 4.2.2. Until there is an update, you can always do what I have done to my 4.2.2... It works with 4.1.2 as well on the 5120.
Saferoot, and you will not void or cause the system to detect rooting. It leaves OTA and Kies available to update.
Run what I have in my list for signature, and be happy... A great improvement over having a basic stock ROM.
Though editing the build.prop is not difficult, you may want to search as there are plenty of threads with the info.
I use Solid Explorer Pro, though many like Root Explorer though it does not require rooting... if your rooting might as well use Solid, as it works well in landscape mode split screens, or swipe back and fourth in portrait.

the 4.4.2 can download at sammobile already, but super slow on my side, can anyone mirror it?

Thanks for all your help. I know of Wanam, have it on my S5, but unfortunately, it only works from 4.2 and up, not 4.1. My only issue is getting these regular 5 second pauses where my browser stops working, read about it online and 4.2 supposedly fixes it. Otherwise I think I would be OK with 4.1. Feel a bit ripped off, it's a fairly new tablet produced for Canadian carriers, and then they decide to completely abandon it at 4.1.

Any way To upgrade when auto-rooted?

Earlier this month I found out that Sumsung started releasing 4.4.2 as an upgrade for almost all the Galaxy Devices. My phone (an S4) upgraded perfectly. But when I tried to upgrade my Note, it said it had been Modified. I have a GT-N5110 and used Auto-root to root. No custom recovery, boot, or rom. Is there any way I can update to Android Kitkat (4.4.2) without unrooting?

Get a custom ROM.
The system simply does not allow updates on Rooted devices.

How exactly does Mobile Odin Pro work? I have it downloaded from the Play Store, can you just place a firmware file on it and flash?
You would need to use PC Odin to update bootloader to KK, else Wifi will not work. Check Civato's KK Rom thread to see how you can upgrade your bootloader and install custom KK ROM.

I appreciate everyones feedback. If you guys are even remotely familiar with my numerous posts throughout the forum you'll probably notice that I have no place in the rooting world lol. Auto-root is as "root" as I should go. I don't know why I can't seem to get the most basic and easiest of features or processes, but when it comes to bootloaders and custom roms Im all thumbs. It'll be much less frustrating for everyone if I stay as far away from that stuff as possible from now on. Thank you again anyway. I will just keep my ears out for any auto-root options.

Hi Varxtis,
I was in your position as well, with a rooted tablet on 4.1.2 and wanting to update to 4.4.2. What I did was download Kies 2 from Samsung, and performed the upgrade through Kies. I didn't have to un-root manually. Kies performed the upgrade for me, but I lost root. What I did at that point was simply re-root with Auto-Root. I didn't have to do a wipe or anything. All my data was still intact, as was all the configuration of my rooted apps (except for AdAway which modified the hosts file on the system).
As an aside, after I upgraded to 4.4.2, I encountered poor accuracy with the S-Pen. The point registered by the screen is a few millimeters off from where the pen actually touches the screen.
Good luck!

Oh wow, awesome. Thank you. I'll definitely consider trying that out, but the S-pen part is a bit disconcerting. I do a lot of drawing and games. Is the S-Pen being off caused by the auto-root presence, or because of KitKat. If it were a Note 8.0 completely stock, would the S-Pen still be off because of KitKat.

No, that's definitely KitKat. My friend also has a Note 8, completely stock and never rooted, and on KitKat the S-Pen is also off. If the pen accuracy is important to you, I would definitely seek more specific scenarios where you might want to upgrade, rather than just do it on a whim. The pen is super important to the purpose why I have the Note in the first place, and 4.1.2 was great for me. I am severely regretting my decision to take the update to KitKat.

I wonder why I am the only one that can calibrate my S-pen... It should work on 4.4.2 just as well as on 4.1.2.

Seems like those regretting far outweigh those happy with the update. The write restriction to 3rd pary apps was just completely ridiculous and out of line. "Sure, you can be in our app play store... but just know as of KitKat half of the features of your app won't work. Oh... your app is a PDF study app like EZPDF Reader? Well in that case 80% or your app won't work!" At least make it an "option" with the update that thoroughly explains the negative aspects of write restrictions. And then the S - Pen issue... Bug fixes my butt. I guess I'll just still with jellybean. Hope they don't force it like an xbox360/One or ps3/4 update.
Thank you again for the help.

Another future update?

I guess it's safe to say since Sprint is getting 4.4.4 that we're getting it as well? At some undetermined point of time of course.

I believe T-Mobile already implemented most of this in the NF4 update.
What I'm interested in is the Knox 2.0 (which I fear I might make rooting a stock device impossible) even with an unlocked bootloader.
Knox 2.0 was included in nf1 iirc. No hindrance.

Yeah I saw kid mode. And if course we already received that in the last update.

Yea I just yelled at T-Mobile about this and questioning why Sprint has 4.4.4 and why also the S4 & S5 on T-Mobile are getting 4.4.4 but we are getting ANOTHER 4.4.2. They told me an update is coming today, I looked and it's nf9 that has "improved wifi calling". I yelled some more about myself wanting stable data connections & removal of mm-qbattery-daemon. ..they ignored me...I'm mad...why the S4 & S5 but the real flagship (our Notes) are being neglected!!!
Frankly, I have enough updating: waited until July with updating to KK (my wifi calling stopped working and finally there was easy rooting without setting Knox, so I broke down and updated). After update my battery usage went out of control, thanks to root I fixed it, but still not impressive. Phone works as well as it worked before, but don't see much improvements, except for wifi calling that's fixed now, but now SD card access is tricky, with some programs it's fine, others don't work, so unless there is something new I really want, I won't bother updating, especially that probably root will be broken again.
Too much one step forward, one step back with those upgrades, especially that my phone works fine as is now.

[SM-T217A] Success with SRSRoot?

Any AT&T SM-T217A users here successfully obtain root via Srsroot on their tabs? They dropped a tweet a month ago that it was supported @ 4.4.2, but it's not sticking for me..

These T217As I bought are turning out to be the worst experience I have ever had with a decent device. The specs and the battery life are great, but AT&T (or samsung?) has lost their mind. Out of my two tabs (both set up identical) Only one was ever eligible for the 4.4.2 upgrade. The second says no upgrade when I check for one.
The one I did upgrade was so bad on 4.4.2 that I ended up trying to flash back to 4.2.2 before I realized I couldn't and bricked the tab.
2 months later, still no upgrade available for my second tab (probably a good thing except I wanted to try an app that says it can catch the firmware update to use on my bricked tab). Still no 4.4.2 firmware to be found on the internet to download for this device.
The worst part is it doesn't even seem to be available from kies. Kies 3 doesn't even recognize it as a 4.4.2 device anymore after the attempted downgrade and the other kies versions only offer 4.2.2 which the device won't let me flash.

I totally agree rmn, the experience with this tablet has been sub par. I know when I first heard about the update being released I was checking around online to see if I could find a dl for it, none existed. I did finally go through the process of updating OTA after having to remove root from my 4.2 firmware. Since the update my tablet appears to operate the same except for the lag has returned. I believe that is because I now no longer have my tweaks setup on the device since I have no root. My real peeve with AT&T with this tab is the locked bootloader, come on man, I want to load up different roms and get rid of all this bloatware. We cant even get root access with this new 4.4!
Could I get a screenshot of your about screen on the tab that is not updating?

If it's in warranty, take it to the AT&T store. Tell them you did OTA and it 'got all screwy'. don't use terms like "bricked". Feign ignorance on all the workings of rooting and roms and stuff. Don't even use the term "Rom", use "operating system". Assuming you have the same boot error message I did, something to the effect of "there was a problem updating", apparently it's common enough that they'll get you to Samsung. Samsung will email you a shipping label, and in about a week to a week in a half, I had mine back functional again. Granted they put it on 4.4.2, which is a bummer, but at least it works. No questions asked. they didn't ask me about rooting or anything, I just told them I did the update, rebooted, it rebooted once, and then I had to reboot again and it had the error. First I took it so Samsung rep at best buy, he couldn't do anything, then I took it to the AT&T store. AT&T doesn't deal with tablet warranties, so that's why they put me on the phone with Samsung. On amazon, they have refurbished t217a's for $144.00, and on the description it says they're on 4.1.2 (rootable, and upgradable to 4.2.2 w/odin, which is also rootable. 4.2.2 firmware was a gigantic pain in the ass to get a hold of, but it's out there. I know it's not the answer you want, but hope it helps at least return the tablet into working state. I don't think we'll ever see a root for t217a on 4.4.2, nor any way to downgrade back to 4.2.2. Just not enough interest from the guys with the time and know-how. It was Samsung's bottom-end tablet, and the Tab S is just better for almost everyone. I use the Tab3 7.0 for work mainly because of it's size. I'm a pilot and I strap the tablet to my leg for approach plates and maps and stuff, and the size of the 7.0 is just right. The 8.0 and 8.3(?) is just a bit to big for that purpose. Anyway, I just hope (but not holding my breath) that Samsung + AT&T well at the very LEAST update the thing to lollipop so we can at least get full external SD card function again, because aviation maps and references and the sort take up a LOT of memory after a while..

I just now saw your post. When I get back home I'll take a screenshot. It's set up identical to the one I upgraded and bricked. Rooted with kingo, installed the tweaks for this tab from development (KoolKit) and using a few xposed modules to change some notification/statusbar icons..Not much else you can do to these things, and if I had to guess, the only difference between the two would maybe be different versions of the KoolKit tweaks.

I wish it was that easy, but I ditched AT&T years ago and went to straight talk. These tabs I purchased second hand.

No worries mate. Hmmm, if it was root that was stopping the update from showing it should have been the case on both tabs. Plus, mine was originally rooted when I searched for the update and it found it fine. You do definitely have to remove root to successfully update to 4.4, which totally blows, but with the SD card changes that came out in 4.4 I had to do it.

[Q] Am I overlooking things...?

Hey guys, I have a Sprint, SM-T807P (10.5" LTE/Snapdragon) version of the Tab S and I must say that I have been nothing short of impressed since the day I purchased it back in December. However, the one (major) downfall is that it seems 1 in 1000 Tab S owners actually have the 807P, which appears to be resulting in a virtual non-existent world of ROM's/custom kernels etc.
I was HOPING I am either over looking something, looking in the wrong location, or not aware of which other models may be compatible with mine.
I just Odin'd from DUH's KK ROM, to stock OE3 Lollipop, and was hoping to get re-rooted/CWR or TWRP installed and find myself a slick little ROM to install.
Is there any hope? lol Thanks in advance, ladies and gents!
Adding on to this. I bought the SM-T807P used (because it was a great deal) and I am only interested in running it through wifi. I dont need the LTE capability.
Somewhere I heard that some other Snapdragon roms will work, I'll just loose LTE functionality ... which is fine by me.
Does anyone have a list or can point me in the right direction for other roms that would work in wifi mode?
Or tell me which snapdragon roms will work?
It's already rooted and TWRP is installed. I'm just lacking in roms.
Thanks!

I'm sure @duh will gladly build an updated Rom for you guys if enough of you request it.
Maybe if you have enough knowledge you can build one for yourself and the other Sprint owners?

Adding on to this. I bought the SM-T807P used (because it was a great deal) and I am only interested in running it through wifi. I dont need the LTE capability.
Somewhere I heard that some other Snapdragon roms will work, I'll just loose LTE functionality ... which is fine by me.
Does anyone have a list or can point me in the right direction for other roms that would work in wifi mode?
Or tell me which snapdragon roms will work?
It's already rooted and TWRP is installed. I'm just lacking in roms.
Thanks!

Did you ever receive any answers on this? I am in the same boat, I only have a gig or two of data on my Tab S, but have unlimited data on my Note 4, that's rooted+ROM'd, including the hotspot mod. So I could do without the LTE as well...
What exactly is it you are all expecting from a custom rom?
Practically all custom roms are simply debloated stock roms with maybe the odd extra thrown in.
There is nothing magic in a stock custom rom that you can't do yourself.

Steps to delete bloatware on GN4 w/Android 6.01

I've been missing having a Note since my Note 2. After just watching the unveiling of the Note 7, I was underwhelmed especially for the price. So I broke down and ordered a Note 4. After I update it to Android 6, will it still be rootable? I also want to remove all the bloatware.

Do a search on here for Note 4 Verizon root.
You will see a LOT of stuff about it.. It's a matter of what chance you want to take. Some seem to have succeeded only to find things not working afterward. Others who know the in's and out's of coding (as this is XDA) seems to have found fixes for the little things but it's not consistent for everyone. Thanks VZ for a "200 mile concrete thick" bootloader.
As for 6.0.1, I've read (and you will see in the searches) that of those who managed the root there are "safe upgrades", but it gets complicated. The bootloader, I think, was changed in the OTA so it gets more complicated there. The official forum will lead to you a lot of stuff on this. I've been curating it for over a week trying to make sense and streamline what matters to root 5.1.1. permanently and without issue.
I'm trying to root, but trusts me it's getting .....weird. I don't think I'm be able to accomplish it. However, coming from the SG3 (which I love), and working now newly with 2 note 4's (used), I can tell you they seem to do a good job of giving the user more power. Some apps can be disabled and uninstalled. Not so on others, but I think I can work with it. I've seen both 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 on it ( I like some Marshmallow refinements and want to get there). Still, losing the power of root with my backups and the bloatware is not an easy choice, but the I'm already addicted to the screen and the pen on the Note.
