Letters are not clear after update. especially in mesaging app when black letters are unevenly black. somewhere they are thicker and somewhere they are thinner

In my quest to turn my pebble blue phone black without adding any bulk I ordered a black colored screen protector from Mercury. I don't have any complaints about the coverage or quality of the protector, but the black isn't truly black. It has little white sparkles all over it that makes it look glittery. Does anyone know where I can get a truly black colored screen protector ?

Oh that's nice. I already have a carbon fiber skin on the back so that front and button sticker would be nice to match it.

yes, but the quality isn't as good as the mercury, it doesn't cover the edge, and the top and bottm of the home key and speaker are not covered.

sounds like a common plan. the advantage of the CF vinyl is that it doesn't have to EXACTLY match anything, due to the texture. now that i have a red draco bumper, i am considering going that route too.

They are nice, but they dont cover the entire screen. They just cover the bezel around the visible screen realestate.
If your fine with that, you might want to check out decalgirl aswell. Many different styles aswell as plain color options available in a gloss or matte finish. You can also contact to design your own custom print.
Does anyone own (or has seen) a White Nexus 5 which had it's battery cover replaced by a black one? I'm about to replace ny battery cover (white) and I was considering whether I should get another white one or instead buy a black one. The only thing that is holding me back is that I don't know how the matte back would look against the glossy sides my phone has. If anyone one has any pictures of what it would look like it would be great
Thanks!

I have the opposite. Black front with white back. Looks good IMO
Currently my phone has a black front, glossy sides and a white back (the normal White N5). I went ahead and ordered a black back for it, so I'll post pictures once it arrives. Basically it should look like a black N5 with glossy sides and a white speaker.

All combinations have been tried. There's a thread floating around here somewhere with the screenshots.
My black battery cover just arrived today Just to have something slightly different, I decided to polish the camera lens, making the trim silver instead of black, which I think contrasts well with the all black back. Here are some pictures of the results for those interested :

Nice. Question... it looks like it's a little bumpy/rough along the right side/edge of the lens. Is that an artifact of the polishing or something else? Otherwise I like the accent

Thanks! The lens trim is a bit rough due to wear and tear (I use the phone without a cover so it's pretty much always resting on the lens). Polishing will not make the surface any rougher as all it does is wear of the paint layer. What I suggest though is that you take the lens part out of the phone to polish in order to avoid getting some of the polish inside the phone.

In that case, my attempt will have to wait another 6-8 months till I need to change the battery. Or I have some other reason to replace the back
I have the yellow bumper case, I have had it for the last 6 months and it starting discolor around the edges. But I do enjoy the black on yellow color.
So I bought a cheap fintie smart shell with the folding cover you can make into a triangle to prop up the device as a stand. The pictures and the how to video show the soft inside facing outward. The case is light blue and the inside is grey so when you look at the tablet propped up from the back, it is light blue with a gray triangle bar. I decided to fold it the other way instead with the light blue cover facing outward, so when propped up it looks light blue back with light blue tirangle bar. Makes more sense to me since the harder and more durable cover part should be facing outward and touching the table instead and the soft grey won't get dirty and get my screen dirty as well when I close it. However, in this orientation the part where the magnets meet is at the bottom so there is a higher chance of the triangle collapsing.
Which way do you fold it and if you fold it with the outside cover showing, does the triangle collapsing present much of a problem?
As above. Is the brown or black leather better?
BlackLeather seems to have texture whereas brown seems smooth
Seems like most people like black so far. Can anyone comment on how black feels?
Better in terms of WHAT ?
brown is softer, more grippy and consequently wears faster but feels better.
black is stiffer ie less grippy but will last longer. Does not feel as good as brown.
Go for the red, as soft as brown and way better looking
There is one point to consider which prolly explains why you got more votes for black and that is the colour of the buttons.
If they are silvery grey then the black black is what you want. However if they are gold you can go with any colour leather back.
If you're going to put a case on it, save yourself the headache and get the plastic back.
I've checked all Grey, Gold, Red, Brown, Black..
Brown is hot selling everywhere..
Also feels very premium because its plain
Black is kind of fake plasticy like Samsung Note devices
but still leather and has crocodile skin like texture pretty durable
but doesn't feel as premium as brown
Red has same feel like brown
My phone's screen just got ****ing shattered because the screen protector I paid 30 dollars for! didn't even cover the whole ****ing screen.....
picture for reference (check the second review)
Look for ones with bezels (like in the photo)
Use this new ones with glue on the center of the film. The older ones only had glue on the corners and with no time it will come off:

This is perfect for me.
A bit of extra info: Since Mi A1 has a screen with rounded off edges, you can only either get screen protectors that leave a few mm of space between the edge of the glass and your protector, often barely covering the actual screen. The other option is getting a full cover like OP mentioned, these are curved along with the screen and normally partially colored (top and bottom), so there's white and black versions so they fit your phone.
The search term to look for this type of protector is "5D" (yeah it doesn't make sense), as opposed to "2.5D" for the smaller screen protectors with rounded edges. Also look for "glass", it helps a bit filtering out the really flimsy ones.
Here's two I ordered (sorry can't post a normal link as new user):
(the usual h**p part including dashes) aliexpress.com/item/
/32870232028 (.html)
(the usual h**p part including dashes and vvvvvv) banggood.com/Bakeey-5D-Pro-Curved-Edge-Full-Coverage-
