Brown or Black leather better? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As above. Is the brown or black leather better?
BlackLeather seems to have texture whereas brown seems smooth

Seems like most people like black so far. Can anyone comment on how black feels?

Better in terms of WHAT ?
brown is softer, more grippy and consequently wears faster but feels better.
black is stiffer ie less grippy but will last longer. Does not feel as good as brown.
Go for the red, as soft as brown and way better looking
There is one point to consider which prolly explains why you got more votes for black and that is the colour of the buttons.
If they are silvery grey then the black black is what you want. However if they are gold you can go with any colour leather back.

If you're going to put a case on it, save yourself the headache and get the plastic back.

I've checked all Grey, Gold, Red, Brown, Black..
Brown is hot selling everywhere..
Also feels very premium because its plain
Black is kind of fake plasticy like Samsung Note devices
but still leather and has crocodile skin like texture pretty durable
but doesn't feel as premium as brown
Red has same feel like brown

Nice casing..

I bought one of these, matte black color, very smooth surface, non-slippery

I bought the same case in black from a local store here for about US$35. Very nice case and plays a nice contrast with my white Note.

[Q] White owners - battery cover

For the folks who have the white model, does the battery cover have the same rubbery texture as the black cover?
I've been looking for oem white covers and they appear to have a glossy plastic finish. Not sure if these are authentic oem or just generic.
cheap glossy plastic finish. those are authentic. I put a skin on it to prevent it from scratching because it is easily scratched.
IMO, the black cover is much nicer and more durable. Won't scratch as easy and less likely to have the phone slip out of your hand.
Yes sadly its a clean glossy finish. I would have preferred the rough texture from the black one but tibia what it is. It certainly doesn't make it feel cheap and by all means doesn't increase the slippery factor as most people a hands tend to be moist. Unless your hands are severely dry then you wont find that an issue. Also its nit like your flinging your phone all over the place like a wii remote. I hardly care for it though....its covered up 99% of the time

I always thought the black cover was the same glossy slippery feel as the white.
Anyways, I have the incipio feather case on it, Blue on White
Ahh.. that's too bad. It would've been killer if it was just like the black cover. Oh well.. thanks folks.

USAMS Translucent hard case

Got this case from ebay for $10 shipped

Looks similar to the iluv case posted here previously. The material has a bit of glitter effect to it when viewed in certain angles under bright light but otherwise looks great and has a soft velvety-rubbery feel to it which is awesome inspite of being plastic.

diztronic High Gloss Clear vs Matte Back

Did anyone try both of these and can tell if the high floss clear case worth buying ?
Does the gloss clear protects at all as the Matte back?
By the way, does the back matte white turns yellow?
FYI some guy on androidcentrals forums posted pics of it
link
woah thx for the info =)
posted there a question as well, and yet i want to hear what people in here have to say
From my experience, clear TPU cases tend to turn yellow fairly quickly even in very clean environments.
With that said, I'm using the Diztronic matte black case and absolutely love it.

well i have searched and read about these clear cases including diztronic clear case and saw
some people say their case became yellow.
I guess ill go on the black one although its kinda disappointing.
My new white nexus is on his way buy he will never show its true color nor its "Nexus" brand in a black case.
What about a smoke grey case? will it be available soon?
and if not... what other GOOD choices do i have?

This yellowish colour is not about dust or dirty environments, but about UV, which degrades the material.
But it is often doped to avoid this (that's why old computers used to turn yellowish but not the new ones).
i guess im not gonna buy the gloss one, but are there any alternatives so the white color will be seen? or ill just buy the black matte?
Hi
this yellowish problem is a matter of worry for sure...in that case you can go up with Matte Back...but as far my experience I use white snap on case with kickstand for my N5 and it works very fine..the grip on the phone is very fine and there is no issue of even getting that yellowish thing also...I got it from Fommy a re seller website...you can also check out their may be you find it a better one you are looking for...its a snap on with kickstand for Nexus 5
Thanks !!!
does it make the phone much fatter? >:

I just dyed my grubby official grey bumper

I had bought the official grey bumper case only to ask for a refund a couple of days in as the case started staining almost immediately. I was given a quick refund and told to keep the case anyway.
Since it was now free and I don't like grubby, I thought I would experiment.I bought some Rit dye from eBay for £3 and dyed the case a darker grey. The case started turning navy pretty quickly but the lip of the case took a long time in the dunk tank to take the dye properly (must be slightly different material to be more flexible when fitting the case) so ultimately the case finished up a dark charcoal grey, almost black but not quite. It is actually very nice. I might put up some photos...but if anyone is in the same boat and curious, the official bumper can be dyed, it just takes 2-3 hours in Rit dye.
nice to know waiting for photos
Scratch!
Next time try to scratch the surface with very fine sandpaper, 2000 points and above. The paint will apply a lot easier!

I'm interested in seeing how it looks like. I have a crapped out yellow official case at the moment that I'm considering dying.
What color Rit dye did you use? Black? I'd like to see some pics.
