[Q] Korean Variants - What 3G/LTE Frequencies? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking at importing a LG G3 32GB from Korea. All the information ive been able to find on what frequencies they run on seems to be conflicting.
I need the handset to run on the following frequencies.
3G/HSPA - 850mhz
LTE - 1800mhz
Some information I've found suggests they will run on 850mhz 3G, others say it'll only run on 2100Mhz 3G.
Any help would be great!

LTE 700, 850, 1800, 2100, 2600
UMTS 850, 1900, 2100
GSM 800, 900, 1800, 1900
It is F400S (SKTelecom model of Korea)

That looks like it'll run on everything I need. Even 700mhz LTE that is being released in Australia next year... So tempting!
Is that your phone? And if so what network and frequencies are you using?

No. the screenshot was not captured on my phone. But i'm using samething in South Korea. (Also I'm SKT user)
SKTelecom serves below frequencies.
WCDMA - 2100
LTE(-A) - BAND3(1800), BAND5 (850)

If you are going to go into development and changing roms, S or K are all the same. I like the S more just because the logo on the device is the LTE-A one. I don't know what logo is on the K, so I won't risk it.

I'm not sure, but we never heard of a Korean ver phone from LG that worked on T-Mobile. However, you always can check the frequencies on both before buying.

Yes because Verizon and Sprint use the same frequency plus Sprint hasn't allowed the sIII to roam on a gsm network (even though it can)

Att I don't know for sure. But the galaxy sIII got Verizon is odd. It's one of the only phone's to use 1900 MHz for 4g lte plus it's the only galaxy phone with a locked bootloader. This could explain why......

Calm down.
Verizon LTE = 700Mhz
Sprint LTE = 1900Mhz.
Completely different 4G LTE frequencies. No devices have hardware support for both of those bands for LTE.
End of story.
No US carriers have launched VoLTE yet. I'm guessing you're roaming on CDMA voice but still getting LTE data.

Well, a lot of folks use apps that show a concurrent connection to a Sprint CDMA tower while their Sprint phone is showing LTE 4G. So maybe it is a concurrent EVDO connection. The point is that there can be two connections at the same time.
I really don't believe there is any LTE roaming to Verizon or anyone else.
Is this a stock ROM?

Tmobile S3 vs International S3

So from what I know the international has a quad core processer ,less ram and no 4G LTE. The tmobile version also has no LTE which surprised me and it has a dual core processer with 2g of ram.
Also it seems the the international has a lot more roms and rom devs. So what is the honest diffrence cause im a little bummed and kind of wish that I got the international cause it seems to be more popular having more roms and a lot more variety. Also I wouldn't mind have 1GB of ram.
So just wondering whats the difference and is this no LTE thing really true? Also why is there so much more international roms?
Well for one I think you wouldn't get 3g speeds more like edge or 2g. But that the major draw back if you have WiFi everywhere you go 24/7 then you will be okay.

The international version has been out longer. All UK phones are exactly the same so they have more developers. The US has four separate phones on four different carriers so our devs are split up more.
Neither has LTE but neither does T-Mobile so that doesn't matter anyways.
The international version gets EDGE on T-Mobile because T-Mobile uses frequency bands that aren't used in the UK.

no man read the chart! the international GT-I9300 has the 1900MHz band, which is HSPA+ on T-Mobile's network. if you look at the T-Mobile Galaxy S III, SGH-T999, it also has the bands 1900MHz. T-Mobile just recently started the 1900MHz bands pairing with MetroPCS, and that's how my mom's International Galaxy Note N700 is able to have 3G and HSPA+ speeds in the U.S on T-Mobile's network.
and that, is also how the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4 is able to be "Pentaband", also having HSPA+ speeds on T-Mobile's network, because they also have 1900MHz band.

Disable DC-HSDPA & H+?

Hi guys
I have the LTE version of the phone, and I am just wondering if there is any way to disable these two modes? I realise that they are both faster than traditional HSDPA but I'm finding that the connection is quite patchy in certain places when using this, and when used with my HTC One S (which is normal HSDPA), the signal is much more consistent and, for instance, I can watch TV on it without and freezes.
Is there a quick way to toggle this when need be?
Thanks

That still uses DC and H+ though. Also, my network does not have 2G so I need to keep it on 3G all the time anyway.
well I'm not very familiar with 4G encoding techniques but I know there are very similar to WCDMA apart from the larger bandwidth in their frequency band. yes H+ is 3G and HSDPA is 3G abit slower than H+ however I'm not sure about DC-HSDPA probably could be related to 4G ...I'm not really sure..maybe if I ask you when running only on WCDMA (3G) does the DC-HSDPA show up as well??

have you tried maybe another operators SIM card which supports 4G? or a different SIM card from the same operator? so you narrow down the issue to only your handset?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4
Only one network supports 4G in the UK atm, and no one I know has it. Mine will upgrade to 4G at no extra cost in a couple months or so and this might help the stability of my Internet.
It's definately not an issue with my sim card though. The problem is the phone ramping up to DC when it can maintain a more stable connection on H+.

EDIT: THIS POST IS WRONG
There's no way to do this, no.
How can you tell it's switching to DC? There's no easy way I know of to tell, H+ doesn't necessarily mean DC either.
I've a N7105 as well, the only way I know if a cell is capable of DC is looking at one of the radio debug screens, which get to with *#0011#

Well, there you go, I've learnt something new, thanks.
My discussions with a number of technical people who work at my carrier (I'm in New Zealand) led me to believe this isn't supported. I'm wondering now if it actually is supported but disabled in the ROM my carrier issues.
Out of interest, are you using a stock ROM?

Yep it's stock. One of the recent French onew ending DMG1. This is the first time it displays DC, which I think is due to the radio this uses. With all my previous roms I never got this even though I was definately connected to DC.

Hi, in this case, the baseband is almost the same?
Is it possible to flash E988 rom on a F240 phone?
I think the difference between them is on radio/gsm, as long as you have the radio you good to go (may be you need to edit build.prob to match your phone). I already flash many rom using this technique (with exception PA rom which can't detect my radio/gsm)
Does the Korean/Chinese/Japanese variant have the same ringtones as the USA E980?
my e988 shows the same as your f240
Hi, guys.
Can I flash LG Optimus G Pro F240L firmware on E988?

Hello
Tell me please, where I can see exactly Diapason network.
I found only:
2G Network GSM 850/900/1800/1900 - all versions
3G Network HSDPA 900/2100 - E985, E986
HSDPA 850/900/2100 - E988
HSDPA 850/1900/2100 - for AT & T
4G Network LTE 1800/2600 - E988
LTE 800/1800/2600 - E986
LTE 700 MHz Class 17/1700/2100 - for AT & T
But I see here are the specs for the European version (E986), but not for the USA (E980) and Koreeana (F240)
I have possibility procure me USA version or Koreana, but I want to use it in Europe. 'll Work within European networks?
I know 3G in Europe began to be spread to 900 MHZ, these models use the network?
Hi!
I replaced My crashed touchscreen (e986) with a new one for F240 and with my great disappointing soft touch keys works very bad! Is it dependent from phone version? The digitiser chip of e986 come from synaptic instead of f240 digitiser that come from another industry.
Where is the problem? Why digitizer work bad?

Will a D855 g3 work io US AT&T LTE?

I just ordered an (international) D855, which seems to have specs for LTE compatible with AT&T. Can anyone say for sure if this g3 will work with US AT&T LTE? and other AT&T systems ok?
Thank you.

Look here for all current used worldwide LTE bands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks. Here are the D855 supported LTE bands http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g3-6294.php so to answer your question i think not.
Thank you.
Did it work on LTE on att?

I have the same question, D855 seems to have 700 and 1700 LTE bands on which Att operate here, so I am assuming it does get LTE

Seeing as they all have the same bands the f400 and the d855 it means it will get LTE
I'm Awaiting one to arrive. Will report...

Ditto. It will work though as it has the same and more bands then the f400 series that did work with lte

Is this the same d855 from Hong Kong?
I paid $685 whixh I think is a good price. If it is fundamentally the same as the At&t version, then it's at least $100 less than AT&T typically charges for buying a device outright. And it's unlocked with 3Gb.
Well it all depends on if it works!

D855 4G LTE in the USA
D855 Network --> :LTE 700/800/900/1800/2100/2300/2600
No mention of the band 1700.
one of the US seller sells it in the USA and clearly mentions that this model will not support LTE in the USA. hope this helps.
LG G3 D855 LTE 32GB White Quad-core Android GSM unlocked phone
Please note that the LTE 4G network works in Europe and Asia only. 4G LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 network is not compatible in the United States.
Does it?
Does it work in the US? Have you tested it yet?
I was on chat with AT&T the other day. They said the phone must have the 700mHz/band 17, it should in theory, work on their LTE. Also said if it has the 2100 it must have the 1700 as they rely on each other, but as long as it did have the 700 it could work although there were no guarantees. I have been eyeing up the d855 too but waiting for solid evidence first!
D855
if you would like to connect on AT&T 4G LTE on 700 MHz spectrum you would need band 17 and LG G3 - D855 supports LTE bands 3, 7, 20.
So you cannot get 4G LTE on D855. Hope this helps.

Wrong. It has the same bands as the f400k and such which has been proven to get LTE on AT&T. So why would this phone not get lte? This one has more bands.

Agreed, this should get LTE as long as it supports 700 mhz which it does and your area has 700 mhz frequency, Period!

The only thing it wouldn't get is LTE on tmobile all the time. But even tmobile has moved a lot of towers to the 1900mhz band.

Agreed, should have cleared on my last post that I was referring to AT&T.. which runs on 700 and 1700

Same exact bands. So why would the d855 not work?
Exactly. Stop spreading misinformation.
