I just picked up my phone and noticed in the carrier location my phone says AT&T microcell. What does it mean and why did it happen? After I disconnected from WiFi it went away but it also could've been because I moved a few feet. I'm running the stock 4.4 ota update using Straight Talk

I was running wicked series rom for about a month and a half and the other day my phone wouldn't send or receive texts calls etc. The sim card is good and the phone shows 5 bars signal strength but it wont connect to the tmobile network. I have flashed other custom roms and also went back to stock nothing has fixed the problem. I get the error message "Restricted access changed voice service is blocked" Tmobile says there is nothing blocked on the account. I have tried manually connecting to the account, factory reset etc. nothing has fixed it it just sits there searching for the networks Any ideas?
Have you tried flashing a new modem? Did you buy the phone new?

I don't think it's that simple. I just got the error and I've only been with tmo for a month. I bought the phone from them. The only thing I've done is rooted and debloated my phone. It cleared up after turning the wifi off and back on.
Hey guys, I picked up a new Samsung Galaxy S II (T-Mobile) about a month ago from the retail store.
About a week ago I was using my phone as a hotspot for my xbox and then I got disconnected while playing. I wondered what was the problem and I saw the data icon was in the no connection state. Now I restarted the phone in case it was the simple loss of signal bug but it wasn't. My data wasn't coming back on. No matter what I did the connection wouldnt come back on. I called the tmobile tech support and they gave me rubbish things such as reboot phone, take out battery and wait 20 seconds, and all that jazz. I then noticed a pattern starting with my phone, the phone would connect to 4g then a second later disconnect. It would repeat this all day and not change to anything else. If anyone can help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Android 4.04 NO ROOT/FLASH (stock)
Galaxy S2 T989 T-Mobile

Call up t mobile and beg them to reconnect your data

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. It was the SIM card. I only had the phone for 2 weeks and got a new sim card when I got the phone. It just went bad. Go to a corporate Tmo store and get a new card. They will give you one for free.
I have this same problem with my SGH-T989.
I'm running CM 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2), and it's vendor unlocked (used to be a Rogers phone) now on the TELUS network.
Data will randomly disconnect, but I still have all signal bars in grey. A reboot will enable it again, or sometimes it just comes back on it's own. I've been to the cell booth in the mall and they've swapped out a SIM card for me, no change.
I also noted that when the data isn't working, my WIFI doesn't seem to either. Modem issue? How can I tell what modem I have and what would be best? I assume CM 10 comes with it's own modem for this phone and when I flash CM it writes the modem too?
thanks for any help.

Flashing a ROM usually does not touch the radio. Newer ROMs(4.2.2 and later) need either the UVMC6 or TLMC4 radio from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.2. I had installed AOKP a few months ago and it worked great. On Saturday my phone died and I didn't recharge it for about a day and when I did I couldn't get any mobile data. There are no bars at all and in the settings->Phone Status it says 'service state: out of service' however mobile network state says 'connected'. I tried reinstalling AOKP and then a few other ROMs and every time I still couldn't get service. I wiped everything and reinstalled stock 4.0.4 and the stock radios and still no luck. The system then updated me to 4.2.2 OTA and the radios are the most up to date radios I515.09.V.FK01 FK02 but still no luck.
I believe I am getting LTE because I can get emails and use GoogleChat without WiFi but I can't place any calls or send texts because (I'm guessing) CDMA is messed up for some reason.
I took it to verizon and after they fiddled with it for a while and put a new SIM card in (and did another factory reset) it still wasn't connecting. They say it is just a phone hardware issue and there is nothing they can do and since it is out of warranty I'm sol and have to buy a new phone at retail. Does anyone have any idea of something I could try to fix this? Thanks a lot for any advice
So, I've been using the LS980 on MetroPCS fine using Justin's ROM, then the CM11 T-Mobile made for this phone - for a while at that. A poster commented that will the Telinfo app, I could use any ROM. Trying, I never got a signal. If I did, it would last for a few hours.
I went back to stock and tried again - using the LS980 CM11 ROM for Sprint, I've been able to keep a connection the longest. Using the Telinfo app, I'll be on GSM Only, then it would go to 'E' or 'Emergency Calls Only', so then I switch to GSM Auto (PRL), and I'll be back to normal speeds. Usually once to twice a day I have to do this.
Any idea why? Did I somehow screw up the radio? As I said, I went back to stock and it picked up the Sprint network fine (though I couldn't use it with no Sprint service).
I've got an unlocked T-Mobile (model 851) G3 that I'm using in Canada on the Koodo network. For quite a while now the LTE mode doesn't work. It connects to the tower, I see LTE up in the taskbar but I can't connect to the internet in anyway.
It used to work, but has not for several weeks. I've just disabled LTE and have been using 3G mode instead, but I'd like to try and resolve this if I can. It used to work when I first got the phone, but I think it stopped working around the time I upgraded to the most recent firmware upgrade. I can't swear to that, but I'm pretty sure it was at the same time.
For what it's worth, I rooted the phone as soon as I got it with purpledrake. I restored the phone to normal to receive the update then rooted again, this time with the brute force method (I forget the name of the app).
Any ideas?
Thanks..
