Working on the girlfriends phone and wondering if anybody still using this phone. Have a couple questions about flashing roms. I tried to flash a stock rooted deodexed rom and it wiped the operating system and I had to flash the RUU. Any pointers
I'm still using it, gonna try to start something for it, it's my test device I don't use it daily but it will be my first try at doing something with Android

I've rooted my S3 once so far, flashed a few CM mods n' ROM's and such, but my phone crapped out and I had to flash back to stock ICS. Since then, I haven't been able to root, flash CWM, or anything. All I can do with ODIN is flash stock. Everything else I flash soft-bricks my phone, or on start-up, android.process.acore and touchwiz.home crash repeatedly. After that, I factory restore through stock recovery and all works. Why can't I root? I've tried everything, including the no flash trip way. I've tried several guides, including the one that I first rooted with. Anyone have the same issues at some point in time?

Sounds like you need to factory reset after you flash the stock root.

Will try. Hope it works.
Found out that the drivers weren't installed on my laptop. Installed those and the S3 version of Odin and flashed the rooted stock 4.1.1. Thanks for the help.

Back when I first rooted my Note 2, it had android 4.1.1 installed. When I updated to 4.1.2 it seems as if it was unrooted, so I cleared my phone to factory settings to try again. Now when I try rooting it, installing CWM seems to be unsuccessful. I have tried again and again but nothing changes, and I haven't found any tutorial regarding this issue, so I came here. Someone please let me know of the problem I'm having asap, I really want a custom rom on this phone (the note 2's stock touchwiz Android OS sucks =.=)

I am far from being an expert - but when I had problems getting CWM or TWRP to work with my phone I ended up using ODIN to return to original stock - one of the early reelases should work - then, root your phone - install a custom recovery and flash whatever ROM you want to use.
Good Luck - HOpe this helps
BY the way -I don't think it is a huge deal but this sholud probably be in the QA Section
I received a replacement phone from AT&T and it had the latest firmware (I747UCDMG2) on it. I did not know this till after I rooted my phone. After rooting my phone, I installed TWRP and then went to install Task650's custom ROM. I got some errors there where it looked like it listed different baseband versions. I exited it out and tried booting up - I could no longer boot into my phone. No matter what I did the phone would say recovery booting but shut off immediately. After removing my battery and leaving it out for a few minutes, I was able to boot back into download mode. I ended up falling back to LK3 stock ROM. Finally my phone was back up. And now installing Task650
Now was I not supposed to use Task650's custom ROM on MG2? Or was it just a fluke thing?
Did you update the bootloader before flashing the ROM?

I never have so going to say no. Or maybe I have and I just don't remember. I'll look into it but I definitely didn't update the bootloader

My tablet was rooted and running a older version of pimpdroid.
i thought id try another rom..
[ROM][4.2][02/13/2014] Grievous 5.0★NOTE PRO THEME ★ PERFORMANCE ★ STABLITY
This kept just rebooting into TWRP. i thought it was the rom so i then tried flashing the newer version of Pimpdroid and whilst the tablet goes through the flashing successfully it still only boots into TWRP.
I even get the message saying finished you are now pimped! so something must going wrong in the reboot ?
Anyone help me out here..............I miss my tablet already.
Cheers in advance.
EDIT ive just flashed CWM recovery and flashed pimpdroid again and its still just rebooting into recovery.
Anyone please help!
EDIT 2 Now also tryed flashing a stock rom! still no luck
EDIT 3 Had to go completely back to stock following this guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142268
Is the problem solved ?

That was the correct route, to go all the back to stock rom. Did you read post 172 in the Grievous 5 post? The poster had the same issue, and I too had the same issue. The answer was to scratch what you have and start afresh. Load one sudo-rom on top of another sudo-rom will only exasperate problems. Hopefully you are back in business and can proceed with your rom'ing.
By the way, I ran all those roms and found them to be lacking in some way or another. So I just cleaned up the stock rom and I have had no issues whatsoever (knock on iPhones).
Glad to hear this !

You don't "clean" the stock rom, you load it from ODIN. You have to go to the Samsung firmware download site and get the rom for your device.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
After you download the stock rom, you use ODIN to upload it into your device. Now you will have a fresh OEM device and you can start again.
thx
THX ! :victory: :fingers-crossed: was looking for this tip! i try it now...one question!
whats about the root? repeat the process?
I am using the MIUIv5 rom over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331888 it wasn't allowing me to import themes so I was trying to get the themes to work using the guide found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2623610 and after installing the Xposed Installer's Framework this problem started occurring: If I turn off Airplane mode and connect to the T-Mobile services, the phone crashes and restarts, as well as the WiFi being turned on and connecting. I uninstalled the Xposed Framework, but it still happens afterwards. Are there any ways to solving this?
Also as a side note: Should I upgrade from UVDLJC to UVDMD5 one? Plus, I'm unable to find any working links for a KT Kernel for the MIUIv5 rom, as I get stuck at the boot logo, so if a working link to one can be given, thanks.
Probably need to reflash the Rom and/or factory reset.

Thanks, will try now.
Reflash- Problem still there
Factory Reset- Worked
So any ideas on how i can get the KT Kernel onto this? I tried adding in the update-script i found, it flashed and got me stuck on boot, reflashing the rom fixed this.
Also will updating the baseband change anything?
Updating the baseband probably won't do much cheaper in this case. But it can't hurt any to try another version anyway.
Also its probably best to not swap updater scripts and binaries unless you have a decent working knowledge about them.
I'm not sure about a kernel for miui though. Maybe the CM kernels would work? Might want to see if someone else might chime in on this one.
