[Q] Keystroke Duplication - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Had this problem since I purchased a case with Bluetooth Keyboard Back in November of 2013. When I activate the keyboard, the first keystroke duplicates in my lock screen password. Also in spreadsheets it will duplicate the first keystroke in a cell. This happens CONSISTENTLY and REGULARLY. I've seen other forum sites with posting on this same issue, but NO resolution. Any help would be appreciated

Kitty Kat took care of that on my 3 Notes. Also look at Null Input Method.

Keystroke duplication
How do I check/change theNull Input method. Also, what is the version number for KitKat? I'll see if my tablet is on that version. Thanks

4.4.2. Go to the Giggle Store, download/install Null Input Method and set it up/select like any of your other keyboards.

[Q] Spell Check woes

Hi, I have got a UK Touch Pro 2 branded Vodafone but it has the latest standard HTC WM 6.5 ROM installed (after Hard SPL).
I have installed TomTom and fixed the BTTrayCE error that created and also patched the clock which annoyingly wants to always show a time 1 hour and 2 mins behind, before flipping down like a 70s alarm clock to the correct time. I’m sure the programmer thought this was fantastic, but it’s just annoying and pointless! (/rant).
My problem is that I can’t find the spell checker. On my older XDA phones and my Touch Pro 1, in text messaging after typing a message, I just did Menu --> Spell check. It even allowed me to add words which it stored in the custom.dic file which I have been carrying from device to device as I upgraded phones.
However, even using the ‘proper’ text messing in Messages-->All Messages --> new message, when I click on the menu button all I get is “Add Recipient, Insert >, Quick Text, Save as Draft and Discard”. There is no spell check option!
The Vodaphone ROM which was slow and full of bloatware and incorrect settings for my network did have a spell check under menu – as did all the previous versions of WM.
I have tried enabling the XT9 feature and it does the XT9 thing of suggesting words and selecting them when you press space. This is quite rubbish for two reasons, it doesn’t auto correct i to I and you have to watch each word carefully, because if you type “hell” it might autocorrect it to “he’ll” depending on what you last chose. This results in having to go back and change about 5 - 10% of words, which is really annoying.
I have fiddled with the XT9 settings under Start/settings/all settings/personal/input/options and the only selectable input method is “Touch Input” although the hardware keyboard works and the options don’t seem to make much of a difference.
I have been searching for 4 hours now and hope that you might be able to help, please!!
Does anyone have a similar problem? Does anyone know if the standard HTC ROM should have a spell checker or not?

[Q] Swiftkey

Hi, I've been using swiftkey as my default keyboard now for many months, however over the couple of months I've noticed that it keeps resetting the default back to the android keyboard. This is now happening more frequently and is really annoying as I typically only notice it when I need to respond to an sms or email. Sadly it's not just as simple as long pressing an input field and reselecting swiftkey via the input method as it actually de-selects it from the keyboard settings.
I could really use some advice as, I having paid for this app, I want it to work.
To confirm I don't get any crashes or errors and I haven't been able to tell what is causing it.
Just throwing it out there, as i have never tried anything like it, but is it whenever it is updated from the market? Because if that is the case, you can just stop updates and only install new versions on demand.
Try moving app from SD card to phone or try new beta version of swiftkey X.
Settings>Language & keyboard settings>set Swiftkey keyboard. If this does not work, try wat ksavai said.
Good advice thanks. The app is now moved to SD card so I'll see how it goes.
oh and to answer the other point, the issue is that the Swift option is de-clicked in the options / keyboard screen
I have just the problem when i reboot my phone, now with swiftkey beta i have no problem
ok so it looks like it must have been a conflict on the old swifkey app. I moved it to the SD card and it failed almost immediately.
Now on beta and it hasn't failed once.
So will I have to pay again for this version?
Hi
I am also a SwiftKey user, I don’t think we ll have to pay for the new version, the licence will be valid for both keyboard....

[Q] Swiftkey issues with S3 running CM10

Hey all,
I'm a noob and do apologize if this has been answered or wrong section but I'm having a couple issues with my S3. I recently flashed the CM10 stable ROM to my device(love it) and did a restore of all my apps. I'm having issues with 2 of them that I can see.
First is Swiftkey. When I go to use the voice input method, it will allow me to speak and will give me the 3 options to put in the message body. but once I select the proper phrase nothing will appear in the text body. this only seems to be an issue when in a text message. it works in apps like facebook and google now
The second is with my TD banking app. If I go to transfer money from accounts or pay bills etc. the keystrokes don't appear in the text box. This only happens when doing a monetary value, putting my account number and password works no problem.
I've reinstalled the bank app and cleared the cache/data on both apps and still no solution.
I appreciate any tips or help to get this working.
Thanks!

[Q] HELP: Automatic Input Mode

Hi,
Thanks in advance for your help!
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III with Android 4.0.4.
I need to type Chinese sometime in text so I downloaded Google Pinyin App (A Chinese Typing App) from Google Play.
But every time before I send messages, it warms me that my receivers may not get it right due to my setting. It asks me to change input mode to Automatic. If I insist to send them, receivers will get a lot of question marks.
I tried to change input mode to automatic in setting but I can't find the option.
I saw some similar questions in the forum but no one explained the details about how to change it to automatic mode.
Anyone knows please help me with that.
Thank you again.

Can't Copy & Paste into Facebook Messenger when "Popped Out"

This is probably a marshmallow thing as I think my N5 did it too when I upgraded to 6.0, but does anyone have a solution, my google fu shows nothing. Tried with both swiftkey and google keyboard. I can long press messages to copy them, but in the text field I can't paste anything, or copy anything I may have written. I send links to my friends and this has been especially annoying when i have to hit two buttons then open in messenger to paste something.
If I remember correctly Lollipop didn't allow this either. I am thinking it's either a 'hijack protection' feature of Android 5.0+, or a bug in Messanger.
I'm 100% certain it worked fine up until 6.0. I believe it has to do with the new security setting of Draw Over Other Apps. For a while all pictures I clicked on in Messenger would open behind the chat window and I couldn't view them either, so it's fairly likely it is a problem on facebooks side. I was just curious why I couldnt find any threads addressing this.
Everytime I try to copy when I am in facebook Messenger it crashes, but I can paste just fine. It's just when I'm copying things.
Using an older, up to date LG Nexus 5 and alao unable to long press in FB messenger.
Having the same issue on the 6P. Can definitely tell something is happening behind the window. Overlay issue. Hate this. Because these overlays are messing up other permissions. Can't activate the microphone on Amazon for search because of overlays? Hate this! Have to open up the app ( as mentioned earlier) to copy and paste. Very time consuming.
I'm guessing no one found a solution to this issue? Same problem here, can't copy/paste and images or videos open behind the chat when using a chat head.
Same problem here after upgrading to marshmallow... Previously in lollipop I can easily do that. Also I no longer can swipe away and hide incoming call head up....
If you use the messenger app without chat heads, copy/paste workshop fine.

Exactly the same issue for me, it's a constant issue with very brief stints where pictures load as they should, any known fix for 6p?
was this ever fixed? Still have the issue on Nexus 5X 6.0.1
Started happening on my Note 5 yesteday but before it worked. Drives me insane as I lived in South America so I use translator a lot with some friends on certain things
Happens intermittently on my Nexus 6P on 6.0.1. Really gets on my nerves but good shout to the previous poster who mentioned opening the Messenger app directly, not the Chat Heads. Copying and pasting works fine that way.

I had that problem too! I cant remember if it started happening after updating to 6.0 or not. I disabled the facebook chat heads and I have been able to copy and paste fine after that.

If you turn off Chat Heads, you get the long press feature back. At least I do on my Samsung Galaxy S6 running Marshmallow 6.0.0.
You can, if you really want, turn it off, copy/paste, turn it back on.
Hope that helps!
Solved
I found 2 solutions on Samsung:
1. Using Messenger app ( not use chat head ), all androids can be paid.
2. On Samsung: using Clipboard in keyboard settings menu.
Solved
I run an HTC 10 but I have the same problem on all my phones running Marshmallow (HTC One M8, M9, M9+ and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium).
Sorted it by going into Settings/Apps/Messenger/Permissions then enabling Storage, location camera & SMS via the switches. I've found that enabling the storage permission usually solves it. It seems to be 'a marshmallow thing' and I've literally gone through all my apps & enabled them.
